Whistle!, Vol. 18 continues where the previous tankobon left off and contains the next ten chapters (153–162) of the on-going manga series.

Despite the amazing save that Kentarō made, Seoul Select Team scored two goals within the first fifteen minutes of the game. Disheartened, Tatsuya Mizuno starts to struggle a little until Eishi Kaku put some sense into him and threatened to take his position as playmaker.

It didn't take too long, but Tatsuya Mizuno finally realised what being the playmaker or the ace midfielder was to inspire those around them to never give up especially when things are not looking their way and it's not – they're two scores down and it started to snow. During this not so friendly match, Tatsuya Mizuno begins to enjoy the game and he can finally understand and connect to his teammates and together they scored a goal – his slump is over.

For the last fifteen minutes of the game they replaced Seiji Fujishiro for Shō Kazamatsuri who managed to score a goal while falling down at the same time – it was a remarkable shot that raised the attention of the recruiter from Spain. The Tokyo Select Team rejoiced for tying the game, but they couldn't rest on their laurels – there's more than enough time to win. Tokyo Select Team managed to get a penalty shot with two minutes left in the game. Tatsuya Mizuno as a thanks gave the possible winning shot to Eishi Kaku and that's where the tankobon ends.

Daisuke Higuchi has written and illustrated this tankobon. The game between Tokyo and Seoul Select Teams encapsulated the entire tankobon and ends in quite the cliff-hanger. I am anxious to see how this game ends, but more importantly, where the Tokyo Select Team is going on from here.

All in all, Whistle!, Vol. 18 is a wonderful continuation of the series that seems really intriguing and I can't wait to read more.

I'm still hooked on this one, grabbing each new volume as soon as it crosses my path. As in the earlier volumes, a knowledge of soccer is helpful but not essential, as it's the development of the characters which is important.
