Ruby thought she had her life under control - until her perfectly planned life fell apart.
After a panic attack at her corporate job—where she spent her days keeping her young CEO’s mind straight and fixing everyone else’s problems—Ruby realizes she’s been ignoring her own. Overwhelmed and burned out, she takes an unexpected detour as a mindset coach for two Supercross riders and rivals on the same team, Chance and Brody. The gig should be help Chance overcome his mental struggles after a gnarly crash with his teammate and help Brody restore his public image. But nothing is simple when it comes to her interactions with these two men.
Chance is everything Ruby is drawn to — steady, charming, and safe. Brody is everything she’s never allowed herself to want— reckless, magnetic, and dangerously off-limits, especially with their almost 10-year age gap.
As the tension between the two riders heats up on and off the track, Ruby finds herself caught in the middle, her feelings for both men growing impossible to ignore. Torn between the comfort of what she knows and the thrill of what she’s never dared to try, Ruby must play it safe, or risk it all.
This season, the race isn’t just for the championship—it’s for her heart.

She is a Texan native, but in late 2022, she moved across the world to Croatia. Texas called her back home, but it was because of her transformative experience in Croatia that this story came to be. She is married to her high school sweetheart, has two children, and believes she has found a soulmate in her cat, Bjorn. She wants you to know she loves you very much and is so appreciative that out of all the books you could fill your time reading, you picked up this one. The Ghosts of Ophelia’s Past is her debut novel. Afton Seeser profile image
Great (steamy) romance read. The author takes the time to develop the characters and really sucks you into the sport of motocross!! Looking forward to the second book!
This book was a little tough for me. It could use a little editing and it was a bit of a slow start for me. The story was overall decent and it got good near the last half but it took a bit. If you are into motocross/supercross and hot men this will be a book for you.
Yikes wanted to love it, didn’t realize it was highly plagiarized from real peoples lives. From family to childhood and right down to quotes in interviews. More of a fanfic. I think she also shoved it in the riders faces that she wrote smut about them and used them/their names to promote this book.
I didn’t realize this book was a “why choose” and I wish it would have been advertised that way cause I love why choose novels. This book was fun to read and was really original with the motor cross themes. I love seeing Ruby’s character development and her start to put her interests first. I wish there was a little bit more development with her and Brody and her fighting her attraction to him before she gives in. I will admit I am confused by Chance’s character development. He seems very hatful towards Brody and I couldn’t imagine him being okay with sharing with him and he ends up being chill. I am also confused by the Epilogue. I really wish I could read what transpired to cause Chance to act that way at the end. I saw the author felt that she was rushing with this book and is going to release a new version. I’m super excited to read the re-edited version, sequel, and anything else she writes!
Spending so much pretend time in Florida 💭 while writing this book was so much fun. It was a much needed escape during a few roller-coaster weeks of life 🙃.
I’m so grateful for everyone who added Perfectly Untamed to their Goodreads TBR, pre-ordered it, and chatted with me about how awesome this Supercross season is going to be - y’all motivated me beyond words.
Best part of writing this was a few days after deciding on Ruby’s name, my fam & I ended up on our last minute trip to California, eating at Ruby’s on the pier. Love a sign from the Universe that I’m on the right path. 😊
I hope that if you read Ruby’s story, you fall in love with the sport of Motocross like I did 15 years ago. ❤️
I enjoyed this book. I loved the concept of the plot and the characters.
Started off slow but once around half way it grabbed my interest.
I truly loved ruby’s mom and definitely want her story !
I enjoyed Ruby expressing her feelings and discovering herself with each of her partners.
Things I wish were the sessions of “therapy” I felt like the romance over shadowed the work Ruby was set to do. I would’ve loved a deep exploration of the mmcs.
While the spice was a slow burn and fun to read I wish the scenes were at a slower pace I felt as if it started and ended quickly .
The epilogue definitely threw me for a loop and I wasn’t expecting that ending !
I may be a fan of motocross after this book. Chance has one more time to talk to my girl crazy or I’m coming through the book like Brody 🥊. It was slow going at first and then bang all the action, all the relationships, spice, winning, etc. I am loving the new dynamic and hopefully Chance can learn to chill for worrying about being older than Brody he could use some lessons from him.
Absolutely loved this book! It wasn’t super long, but it was a great quick read! Loved the characters! Loved the plot and the spice! Would absolutely recommend to anyone who’s wanting a good, short and sweet action romance book!
The only thing I wish we saw more of, was her learning about the sport of motocross itself! Other that that I loved it!
Let me just say that if you have not read a motocross story, this is the place to start! Follow Ruby as she navigates a new world and discovers truest self along the way!! Chefs kiss to Brody for being perfect and to Chance to learning humility along the way!!! Afton wrote a great story and I cannot wait to read the next❤️❤️❤️
I have been looking for a motocross romance book for so long and I was so beyond excited for this book!! This was also my first why choose having not one but TWO riders interested…. Damn! 🥵 Afton really knows her stuff about motocross! I loved the romance but also how accurate it was! I’m so excited for book 2!! 🏁
I love a good why choose and some witty banter. Ruby and Brody’s playful flirting made for an easy read. I wish we got to hear more of Chance’s story, but his “safe” demeanor allowed Ruby to step outside of her comfort zone. I also enjoyed the Motocross setting, a little adrenaline is always a good thing. Maybe a spicy bike scene in the future?
It was a bit slow in the beginning, but I did enjoy reading about how the races go and all that jazz. Definitely the why choose situationship happens at like 90% but still not bad. It could be a bit longer and how it ended could’ve had more build up. The epilogue I don’t really understand what happened😂
Honestly the first 5 stars I’ve given all year so far! I really enjoyed this Why Choose romance, because not only am I a big fan of SMX, but also it kept me on my toes. I had so much of an emotional tie with this book that I’d pay lots of money to re-read it for the first time all over again!!
Oh man, oh man, ohhhh man! I am a *sucker* for a good sports romance. Also a *sucker* for why choose 😅 I was not fully expecting this book to be soooo good! Afton, babyyyyy, I’m so glad I stumbled upon your book! Keep them coming bc I ATE THIS ONE UUUUP.
Ok I found this book posted by the writer on tik tok and I love it. I relate to ruby so much. Chance and Brody total opposites, but both so good for her in different ways. Definitely going to recommend to all of my regulars at work who I talk about books with. 🌶️🌶️🌶️. On to the second book.
Didn’t know motocross would be something I’d absolutely need in my life but this was it! I loved it. But i was totally convinced there would be sword crossing with the intenseness of their tension. But it was wonderful nonetheless.
Good premise, but needed a bit more…. it just didn’t hook me the way I was hoping. Maybe I needed more excitement, character development, humour, action and angst… not sure. It was missing a few things for me.
This book was such a fun read and the spicy scenes were HOT! 🥵 I loved all of the characters (especially Brody) and I’ll definitely be reading the next book in this series when it’s out. 👏🏻👏🏻
I loved this book. The ending had me gasping tho! I can’t wait to continue reading more of this series and I hope there is many more. Who doesn’t love a why choose with hot Racers 🤭
A perfect slow burn 🔥 Once the spicy scenes came in, I thought the author used the most perfect language! Nothing cheesy and very steamy! Can’t wait to read the next book in the series!
I like it until the epilogue. I’m hoping that’s hinting at what comes next in the story. I really wasn’t a fan of Ruby or Brody. Chance had my heart tho! Felt like he was pushed into this situation that he wasn’t sure about. 😂
Honestly? I LOVED this book. I ate this right up. The plot, I loved. The 2 men? Loved. The 👀 scenes? Loved. Wish there was more of them tbh. But overall, I think this was a perfect little book.
As a fan of actual Motocross/Supercross as well as romance novels I couldn’t have been more excited to see this book! However, I was disappointed that the MM characters were heavily based off real life riders. While I understand the author may have some inspiration from real life riders, the likeness of Brody to Jett Lawrence, from his older brother who also rides, to their accent (from coming from Australia), and his fashion, was honestly just too much. I would have really liked to see the author get more creative with character building. It honestly made it so much harder to connect with the characters.
Perfectly, Untamed was enjoyable. We have to motocross teamates that used to get along, but after an accident during a race, we have the two men on the outs. Ruby is brought in to get their heads straight, as well as get hers straight too. What she doesn't expect are two men who have her feeling things that she never felt in her one night stands. It had me laughing and frustrated with the way some of the characters were behaving. But what book doesn't have you loving a character one second and then hating them another. This book was fast-paced and an easy read. It is labeled as a "why choose" romance, and it has its aspects for it, but for most of the book, it just seems like a love triangle waiting to explode. The end of the book did leave me a little wanting. The epilogue talks about Ruby having a proposition for the guys. We don't know what the proposition was and it doesn't end well for their throuple. I enjoyed reading this book, and it definitely has me looking for more Motocross themed books!
