Another girl is wearing Liam’s football jersey. And I’m not waiting around for my high school sweetheart to explain.
Years later, I return to the small hospital in my hometown. Assigned a temporary position as a traveling nurse. But bumping into Liam O'Brien guarantees the months will be awkward.
He’s no longer a reckless bad boy. Now he’s a gruff, disciplined doctor. I’m sassy, enthusiastic, and smart. So I plan to keep my distance.
But my brother Noah, Liam’s best friend, offers him a room. And suddenly my ex is everywhere I am. Our nearness reminds me of how inseparable we once were.
Then I see his compassion with patients. A hallway collision—towel low on his hips— reveals a body that short-circuits my composure. And his jealousy flares when Noah pushes me toward another man.
Every reason to guard my heart collapses. And I’m freefalling into love again.
Until a devastating accident changes everything. He becomes my fiercest protector, never leaving my side.
Sadly, my future is bleak. And our second chance may already be gone before it even begins.

Mia Easton and Liam O'Brien had dated each other back in high school until she believed he was cheating on her. And of course, they didn’t talk about this and resolve the issue. She immediately broke up with him. Mia became a nurse who traveled to her patients. Liam remained in their hometown and became a doctor at the local hospital, living with his best friend, Mia’s brother Noah.
When Mia accepts a nurse job back in her hometown, she doesn’t realize that Liam is living with her brother and works at the local hospital as a doctor. She will also be staying with her brother, so meeting up again with Liam is guaranteed! How will she react to encountering Liam again? Will they finally resolve old issues as their feelings for each other get stronger? But what will happen when Mia is involved in an accident running after her angry brother and falling down 13 stairs head-first onto the concrete, right arm and ankle twisted in an odd way, and now unconscious and experiencing repeated seizures that may end whatever new beginnings she and Liam may have hoped for? There are so many emotions going on among the three of them. Will Mia be severely impacted by what has just happened to her? Will she even survive? Or have she and Liam lost their only chance for a future together?
REFORMED PROTECTOR I DARE NOT LOVE is a wonderful second chance love story. It’s practically Un. Put. Downable so start reading early! Liam and Mia are both quite lovable characters thrown together after years apart.
Enjoyable read that I recommend to anyone who loves a romance with a different twist. The H and h are romantically involved in high school but then breakup due to a misunderstanding and go their separate ways. Years later they meet again in their hometown hospital where the H is serving his residence as a doctor, and the h has come to work on a nine month contract as a nurse. They can barely stand each other but they know that they must be professional in the hospital. To make things more difficult they are going to live together with her brother who is the H’s best friend. We also learn that the brother doesn’t want them to get back together because he fears that he will then lose one or both of them. When they finally communicate and mend their relationship the brother is furious and he fights with them, the sister lashes out against him and he runs off. The sister runs after him, slips and falls down thirteen cement steps badly injuring herself. Thus begins a series fight for her life requiring operations and treatments for her injuries. Against medical advice the H acts as her primary doctor and remains with her continually. After complications and time the h responds and slowly heals. In the end they get their HEA. Hope you enjoy this story as much as I did. I read it as a nurse and therefore enjoyed the medical theme, but it will be enjoyable reading for all who enjoy a different romance. ENJOY!
Wow! To say this book took me by surprise would be an understatement! Mia and Liam, doc and nurse, high school sweethearts broken up over a misunderstanding! Started out typical, or so I thought with Mia coming back as a traveling nurse to their hometown where Liam 8s a doctor. I figured it was going to be a bunch of angst back and forth where I love them both and want to beat my head against the wall because, well, why aren't they together already?! It turned out to be that and then SOOOO much more! There is a huge twist and my love for Liam, especially, grows a hundred fold! I couldn't put this book down and stayed up all night reading it. I will warn you though, make sure you have a box of tissues with you. This book will wring you out, tear you apart, and put you back together better!
Mia took a job as a traveling nurse at Fernhill General Hospital in the town where she used to live. She soon learned that D. Liam O'Brien her high-school sweetheart also worked there. When they broke up neither knew that the other was misled and that caused their breakup. Mia's brother let her live with him and Liam also lived there until his home was built. Quite unique living conditions! Lots of challenges along the way for Mia and her brother who wants Mia to himself. While Mia and Liam block out their atrraction, a lot happens. I was pulled into their story and the hard times ahead of them.
The story isn’t simple but the love is. Though miscommunication rips them apart, years later when they finally reunite tragedy strikes and the reader is lead through the struggle of healing both mind and body. A sweet story with a HEA.

This is a second chance romance that you have to seriously wonder if they are going to get that second chance. We get romance, humor, jealousy, and several sudden twists and turns that you will not see coming. I enjoyed this book and look forward to the author’s next one.
This was a super cute tale of how miscommunication or flat-out assumptions can lead to decisions that aren't always the best for us. this couple has their ups and downs and when it turns good, we learn that it wants what they thought. I really enjoyed this book, and I loved going through this with them and seeing them figure out the complications. The author did a beautiful job at pulling me in and wanting to keep reading.
My first Kylie Kidd novel and I loved it! Mia is a traveling nurse who takes a contract at her small hometown hospital. Liam, her high school boyfriend, also works at the hospital as an emergency doctor.
An exciting medical romance story that had an unexpected event happen!
It's been awhile since I read a book that made me cry, until now. Good tears they were, though, good tears.
This book was intense. At its core is a heartbreak felt by two people - Liam and Mia - still so in love with each other, a heartbreak that would have been totally avoided had they just been logical and less prideful enough to talk to each other after questionable events took place. He did this, she did that, but both never understood why. And that question stayed unanswered for eight long years, creating a deep, festering wound in them both. Underneath it all, though, was a love they had for each other that remained strong, no matter how much they fought it or deemed it useless.
Then, just when things get better for Liam and Mia, a horrible tragedy affecting Mia shakes the very foundation of the bond they've just started to rebuild. This is where the tears came for me. It was with Liam struggling with the aftermath of the tragedy, of grappling with the horrendous possibilities that Mia may not come out the same as she was before. I felt his pain, his despair, and his helplessness. How could he not feel those things when he'd just welcomed Mia back into his life and then suddenly she was being ripped away from him again?
As a registered nurse myself, I highly appreciated the medical world building that Ms. Kylie did in this book. Her descriptions of hospital life from the perspective of the healthcare worker were spot on. And the way she described each scene, each moment, was so engaging that you could picture yourself in it and feel every emotion. It was masterful writing, indeed.
By the time my tears came, there was no stopping me from finishing the book all the way to the end. I couldn't afford to close the book without knowing what exactly would happen to Mia. I was willing to fight sleep just so I could get to the end. When I did, it was with an ending that left me assured that Liam and Mia had unquestionably achieved their happily ever after.
I received an ARC of this book from the author and I am leaving this honest review voluntarily.
The book was good. I enjoyed the relationship dynamics between all Of the characters. I was a bit taken aback at how long the coldness between The two main characters lasted, it helped to remember their wounds began In high school.
The author did an amazing job with descriptions of the medical issues that the Leading lady faced, including drawing in a prime force of nurses and doctors. I was amazed that such a small town had such talented medical stuff, and I was Very thankful.
I admit that I peeked ahead to the ending to be sure I could handle what Would come, it was a HEA. I was greatly relieved.
All in all it was a well written book, painting a picture of a town and the people Who lived there and the main characters and slowly revealing what had happened To them a few years ago. The healing process that was presented was believable And I personally was drawn into the lives of all of the people in the town. This is A book that I recommend!
I have never read anything by Kylie Kidd before, OMG this was fantastic! If I could give this 100 stars I would!!! Mia Easton went to school and grew up in the town of Fernhill. In high school she was dating Liam O'Brien, she broke up with him because she thought he was cheating on her. She left for college to become a nurse, and is now a traveling nurse. Liam became a doctor and stayed in Fernhill, working at the local hospital. Liam is living with Noah, Mia's brother. Mia takes a traveling nurse job back in her hometown. Does she know that Liam works there? Mia is going to be staying with her brother Noah, does she know that Liam lives there? Mia and Liam have so many unresolved issues from their breakup, are these issues resolvable? Love the plot, great setting, and strong intense interesting characters. I look forward to reading more from Ms. Kylie Kidd!!!
OH WOW!!!! Mia and Liam’s romance was captivating and intriguing. I was on the edge of my seat and I couldn’t even put it down. Second chance at romance is going to complicate and drama. He was sweet on her and she was trying to fight the temptation and feeling for him in this moment. Love was not on her plate at this time. Will they give into the passion and romance at this time. I definitely recommend this book and you won’t be disappointed. I received advance copy of this book via Bookfunnel and am voluntarily leaving my honest opinion. Trina Jones
This was a very good read. Can they figure out a way to really talk to each other and get a second chance? This is a well written love story that will give you just what you read romances for.
