Fire House Omegas #1

Packed in the Firehouse

Rate this book
The fire started, and I never wanted it to go out…

The fire took everything from me. My home. My memories. The stability I fought tooth and nail for, giving my son the life he deserved.

But it was all gone, destroyed in a matter of minutes as I helplessly watched.

Escaping with our lives and nothing more, Luka and I headed for the shelter, determined to rest before starting over tomorrow, creating a new life from scratch once again. Three Alphas wouldn’t have it though, surrounding us and demanding we stay with them and the other firefighters at the station.

I was reluctant to say yes, and if I had been alone, I would have shot them down. But Luka deserved to feel safe after what we had been through.

And after all, it was only supposed to be for a few nights…

I didn’t expect to find love in the aftermath of the smoldering embers of my life, but would the traumas of my past douse the flames before they could fully ignite?

Packed in the Fire House is the first book in the Fire House Omegas series and is in the same universe as the Pucking Pregnant and Pucking Alphas series. Although each book is a standalone, they should be read in order.

DNF at 17%.

Why is she living with strangers without even trying to call her brother?

My main gripe is how inauthentic the mother and son scenes felt. Perhaps it was the telling not showing that caused the disconnect. However the age of her child does not match what we were told. Yes, of course children grow at different speeds and rates but no pediatrician would tell you to wait and see. It was little things that added up to leaving me feeling unsettled like Melissa must not have any firsthand knowledge of children or child development. Another star off for non comprehensive content warnings.

A mess!
I donʼt relish leaving harsh reviews. I loved some of Mellissaʼs earlier books but things have gone down hill recently. Iʼm not sure if sheʼs rushing to release or changed editors but this was bad. The note states sheʼs not from the US, so that could be why so many things rang as untrue. Donʼt get me started on the problems with someone picking a child that isnʼt their own up from daycare or the fact he acts like a six to eight month baby not the 1.5 year old toddler weʼre told he is. Itʼs obnoxious when someone writes anything they donʼt understand. Iʼm surprised more people arenʼt mentioning it in their reviews. Firemen canʼt have any facial hair outside of a mustache because it blocks the ability for their mask to seal to their face properly. The chief would immediately tell them to shave. Calling it facial hair rather than a beard doesnʼt mean they would let it go. Itʼs a safety issue. I could go on but honestly itʼs not worth it. I beg the author to find a team who can catch these types of mistakes and to go back to her own style. If you donʼt know enough about kids to write them accurately then just donʼt do it!!!! The same goes for any profession you canʼt take a few hours to research.
The thing that made me embarrassed for the author was including a “cajun” character just to use the nickname cher. Okay now Iʼm done.

Disjointed. And they talk and ask each other questions and then DONT answer them out loud. It’s like watching the show YOU. They think in their head and then move on and don’t answer. It’s so annoying.
Plus the romance is superficial and the bonding felt weird.

🎶 If you could take my pulse right now / It would feel just like a sledgehammer / If you could feel my heart beat now 🎶

The fire took everything from Sunny (h) - her home, her memories, the life she fought to build for her son, Luka. In just minutes, everything she’d worked so hard for was gone. But even as the smoke settled, Sunny refused to let the darkness win. With Luka by her side and hope in her heart, she set out to start over… again. They were only meant to rest for a night at the shelter—just enough time to catch their breath. But three protective Alphas, firefighters who had witnessed the blaze, had other plans. They insisted Sunny and Luka stay with them at the station, wrapped in warmth and security she didn’t know she needed.

—⋆。゚☁︎。⋆。 ゚☾ ゚。⋆• THOUGHTS⋆。゚☁︎。⋆。 ゚—

[Walker]

“You guys are so close,” I muttered when I noticed the firehouse on the horizon.

“That's how firehouses work, sunshine. The closest one gets called to the fire.”

“Oh. Yeah…”

“Be nice,” he growled, making my insides go all liquid.”

He’s the alpha of the group, the first one who bonded with her. He feels everything she does, so he takes care of her. But he also missed the moment when she was completely exhausted, dehydrated, and had nothing left in her until she fainted. He felt so, so bad that he called for backup firefighters to help, hoping to nurture the bond between them. Sunny was stubborn and didn’t want to let people in, let alone three alphas. Walker wasn’t about to let a beautiful omega stay alone in a shelter with her baby. He let her stay in his space and even lied, saying he bunked with the others so she wouldn’t fight him on it. Even after discovering that Sunny’s milkshake had been spiked, triggering a heat-like experience, Walker said that their bond would have been inevitable anyway.

[Rune]

“Cher?” he asked. I nodded. “It’s what my grandaddy called his wife. I grew up hearing it, and I knew one day I would call my omega that.”

“You called me that within minutes of meeting me…”

“I knew. Don’t ask me to explain it, but the moment I pulled you out of that fire, I just knew that you would be mine.”

He instantly took a liking to her and became deeply protective of both her and Luka. He called her Cher, a nickname that had been passed down in his family, and used it as a way to comfort and reassure her that she was safe with him. From the moment he saw her, something shifted. He knew without a doubt that his life was split into two parts - before Sunny and after Sunny. He fell for her hard, head over heels, and never looked back. He was loyal, attentive, and completely devoted. He made it a point to check on her constantly, always making sure she was okay. He cared about Luka just as much, wanting the baby to be safe and happy, treating him like his own from the start. He never pushed her or rushed their connection. Even though his feelings were strong, he wanted to bond at her pace and made it clear that her comfort came first. He was so sweet about it, always putting her needs before his own, and showing through every small action just how much he cared.

[Blaze]

“I think it is my business if my pretty little sunshine is single or not. Of course, we can't go on a date now, because you're staying at the firehouse and you're going through a lot, but eventually, you’ll fall madly in love with me. You’ll see, I’m impossible to resist,” Blaze declared, leaning against the table with a charming grin.

Blaze is the confident one in the group. He is always cracking jokes, bringing the energy up, and making everyone feel a little lighter just by being around. He is the comedic relief, the one who makes the others laugh even in the darkest moments. Blaze has a huge heart and when he loves, he loves with everything he has. Whenever Sunny complimented him, it completely threw him off. For someone who seemed so sure of himself, Blaze had no idea how to handle her kindness. Every time she said something sweet or sincere, he would get so flustered that he had to leave the room. It was like her words hit a place he kept guarded, and he did not know how to respond except to run away for a minute and pull himself together. Despite all the joking, Blaze was serious when it counted. He stepped up when things got real. When Sunny and Luka needed support, Blaze was there. He made sure they had what they needed, whether it was food, protection, or just someone solid to lean on. When Luka was taken, it was Blaze who had secretly placed a tracker in Luka’s backpack. Blaze is a mix of protector and lover. He is someone who brings happiness just by being present, but he also carries the weight when others cannot. He makes people laugh, but he also knows how to fight for them.

Don’t come at me - I thoroughly loved this. Yes, she stayed with them and trusted them when they were basically strangers, but worse things have happened in books. Was it insta-love? Maybe. Do I care? Not even a little. When you know, you know. And they were scent matches, so like… obviously. Let me have my fun.

It was okey, just not something I loved. I didn’t get into the story and the plot.
Love omega-verse romances and I loved that she was the single parents in this. I do not want to read about a single father, so I really happy about this one❤️
Im so tired of single father plots, there are so many of those and so little of single mother😢

Firefighters? Heck yes. Cajun firefighters? More heck yes.

Sunny is a single mom of the most adorable baby, Luka, living in a decrepit apartment building as that’s all she can afford. Her baby daddy refuses to take up his role, so she’s struggling a lot. When there’s a fire in the apartment, the Landry pack rescues them and gives them a safe place to recover in the fire station.

The Landry pack is great. They’re all incredibly respectful and I loved how they took care of her, spoiled her and helped her accept it by using rationality and logic. Blaze was giving me great dane vibes - looking at him makes you happy, he’s so enthusiastic, and he’s not always too self-aware in that enthusiasm. Walker and Rune were more responsible (we love a man that can cook) but that evened Blaze and Sunny out perfectly. If i needed to describe pack Landry in just a few words, it would be ‘a safe place to land’. Sunny’s baking for the entire firehouse was adorable and I loved how the side characters all were so loving and supportive as well. That ending made me immediately so hyped for firehouse omegas book two!

Packed in the Firehouse was SO good and I've officially got thing for firefighters now. Containing some of my fav tropes (omegaverse, single mom, age gap, forced proximity), I absolutely ate this up.

The guys were so good with Sunny and Luka. There we're seriously so many swoon-worthy moments. This was a sweet one!

I had been looking forward to this one and Melissa didn't disappoint! Excited for the next in the series.

I received an ARC of this book and I was absolutely OBSESSED with it!

I have read pretty much all of her previous books and can say that this is such as good as the previous ones, if not one of the better ones. I absolutely loved Sunny as a main character. I thought that she was so sweet and funny and I really liked the diving into her backstory to explain some of her reactions in present day. The way her emotions were described made her so relatable and especially her reactions to being in a traumatic relationship and how it impacted her ability to be in another relationship.

I also loved the three guys and how different their personalities were. I mean what a lucky Sunny to have three amazing guys wild for her. And how the boys immediately took in Sunny’s kid as her own…adorable and incredibly hot 🔥

All and all, Melissa hit another one out of the park with this one and I can highly recommend reading it!!

I give this book a reluctant three stars.

I wasn’t blown away by the story there was absolutely nothing new or intriguing to find within it. I also feel like 50% of the book could’ve been taken out and it still would’ve been boring if you know what I mean.
All the male characters came across as pussies, especially poor Blaze. He has a cool name and a very cool profession, but the writer wrote him as if he was some whiny and pouty 10-year-old. Nothing about that is sexy.
The other two males, were basically the exact same character, other than the author making one of them Cajun. And by Cajun, I mean very stereotypical. He called her Cher and made gumbo one time. Eye roll 🙄
I also didn’t really like the FMC I couldn’t pinpoint exactly what it was, but her personality just wasn’t likable.
And I have to say it again the book was just so boring literally nothing happened except for like the first two chapters and then the last two chapters.
And I personally hate the word slick, it gives me the ick.

The author is British and she mentioned that she was trying to write this book in American English, but you could totally tell that she was British and there was still a lot of Queen’s English in this book.

The whole feel of this book was just really soft and not in a good way. It needed a little bit more grit and it needed a little bit more sexy, and I needed more of the men to be hot and actual alpha’s. Nothing about this book was hot or sexy or funny or interesting. It’s all just copy and paste nowadays it feels like. I would not recommend this book.

A little messy, the plot was somewhat there but kinda didn’t make much sense.
Lacked depth with all relationships.
Whilst it was a somewhat entertaining read it did feel a bit cringy as the mmc and well every character really lacked depth, they hardly knew eachother at all, it was very lacklustre. I wished the “bad guy” was woven into the storyline more, so we built up to the third act happening, without that it was very anticlimactic and just seemed like an afterthought.
Don’t think I’ll reread it unfortunately.

A sweet romance, single mom finds a pack

I enjoyed this Omegaverse novel. I'm glad it didn't take long for the FMC, Sunny, to meet the guys from the firehouse (some of who, of course, later become her pack). I found the beginning of it really well done, in particular, from introducing us to Sunny to the things that led up to her living in the firehouse.

I also enjoyed the climatic scenes toward the end and how all of the characters reacted (even some of the family of the main characters).

This book wasn't fluffy. It wasn't overly (sickeningly) sweet. It was JUST perfect. There was sweetness, yes, but there was some suspense, as well. If you like OV, this is up there with one of the better ones, in my opinion.

📖 Bookish Thoughts
This was a cute and sweet little Omegaverse read! I loved Sunny and the firehouse guys—especially Blaze. That man is unhinged in the best way and had me cackling. Total favorite. Rune is the soft giant, Walker is the calm center, and together they just worked.

I’ll definitely be continuing the series, and I’m already hyped for Melody’s book!

Sunny’s pack

I was so invested in this story because we have known Sunny for so long and there has always been this big mystery around the father of her son. So getting those answers has been huge. But the reality of those answers - wow! And I love her alphas and the way she met them. They are so perfect. Everything really falls together the way it’s meant to be and I’m totally here for it. Very, very steamy in true Omegaverse fashion. But now I need Melody’s story!

This author is now in my top 5 for omegaverse authors!!

I love her other series and now am reading all her books! I love that a couple more will be releasing this year! I definitely know if I need a palate cleanser or a book that will have me giggling then her books are great!

I loved that the mmcs were firefighters and how much they loved her son! They really stepped up for her! She deserved it for sure, she had a lot of hardships happen to her and she needed someone who would take care of her now!

Cant wait for the next book in the series

Cute, sweet and low angst

I love Melissa's books, I know I'm going in and getting a tad of drama but a whole lot of spice. Nothing heavy, nothing going to throw me into turmoil just good old omegaverse fun. Knocked this one out of the park again, I mean you doesn't love firemen! Obsessively reading her back log and slowly running out!!! I need more.

This was so cute! Was counting down the days for the release based off the tropes alone & it was worth the wait! So sweety, spicy, and funny. The MMC’s are all delicious and have such complementing personalities perfect for their pack. This was such a good read and I can’t wait for the next!!

I was recommended this multiple times. I can only guess every person is on the author's team. The reviews especially. There are so many plot holes and inconsistencies. PACKED IN THE FIREHOUSE left me frustrated over the brainlessness of omegaverse authors and how trivial material can be while garnering grand reviews

DNF @ 80%

I wanted to push through but it just got a bit boring. Half the time the FMC is worrying and/or baking. She did have some sweet characteristics, same as the MMC’s. I just felt like the whole BD drama got strung out way too long for how quick everything else in the book felt. I also missed a lot of the typical OV aspects like full heats and bonding after them. More description with scents and emotions felt through a bond, more spice etc.

It had potential and I really wanted to get through it, but I found myself skimming or skipping through random parts of the chapters that held no density to get to the good stuff.

Who doesn’t want to read an omegaverse book where the alphas are firemen? Add to that an omega that is raising a child on her own, struggling to get by after she left her child’s father for being a POS, and you’ve got such a fun, spicy story that I really enjoyed. I have read a lot of this author’s different omegaverse stories, and I am a very big fan. I especially love the stories with single mothers and the amazing alphas that are determined to protect them and provide for them. This book was fun, sweet, spicy, and I can never get enough of big alpha firefighters that have amazing Dad energy. This book is exactly what I want when I want fun, minimal angst, and a well written story that flows easily and keeps my attention through the end.

Sunny was such a wonderful omega. She is a sweetie that gets put in a horrible situation when the father of her adorable baby boy turned out to be worthless. While omega yearns to be taken care of by her alpha, Sunny is forced to provide everything for her son. She does everything for her son and puts him before any of her own needs. When her apartment catches fire and leads to her doing everything she can to keep her son alive, you know she is a top notch mom. But the fire leads her to a pack of alpha firefighters that smell divine. My favorite thing is that when you put all of their scents together, they smell like s’mores. The alphas are fantastic. They know that they have to protect the little omega and her son. They are adorable with Luka, acting like the most amazing dads. My favorite is Rune, the sassy cajun firefighter. He just made me laugh and he cared so much for Sunny from the minute he saw her. Blaze and Walker were just as good, forming the perfect pack.

This was another fantastic story by this author. I have come to really enjoy her stories and catching all of the little connections between her different stories. As I always say, you have a good shot at lots of great spice when you read omegaverse stories, and this one is no exception. The connection between these alphas and omega is explosive. It made for a great story and one that I could definitely enjoy. It’s a great book to read if you are yearning for sexy firemen, a sweet by tough omega, and the most adorable little boy ever.

This was such an incredible story. I couldn't get enough.

This is Sunny's story. We met Sunny in Kennedy's story, and I loved her, so it was only natural for me to become completely obsessed with her.

Sunny is a single mum who is devoted to her baby boy, Luka. Sunny is beautiful, kind, caring, compassionate, and just a ray of sunshine. She is struggling somewhat to keep her and Luka afloat, but is determined to make a better life for her and her son.

Our beautiful alpha's are Rune, Walker, and Blake. Walker is our Pack lead and has the Daddy vibes down pat. Rune is our big and beautiful gentle giant that instantly becomes obsessed with Sunny and Luka. Blaze, he is, I think, maybe the happiest alpha I've read in a long time. He is the epitome of happiness and always has a smile on his face. He's such a golden retriever....

The plot sucked me right in. Sunny is really in a pickle when her apartment building catches on fire and is basically left homeless until the alpha's that rescued her suggest an alternative arrangement. They are instantly drawn to her and fall hard and fast for both Sunny and Luka. I love that they can read her so well and give her the space to just breathe and be herself. Things start progressing (i loved the pace with each individual relationship), and Sunny, Luka, and the pack slowly start to find their grove, but Sunny's past comes back to bite her in the bum and causes a few issues (lots).

I'm so excited to see who's next in this world because they are all such wonderful characters.

I could honestly go on and on about this story, but I want you to experience this for yourself, so I am being quite vague 😊

Thank you so much, Melissa and your amazing team, for the opportunity to read this story. I am extremely blessed 🙏

I enjoyed this sweet omegaverse story.

Sunny has been trying her best to make it on her own with her 18 month old son, Luka. When their apartment building goes up in flames and they can't escape, Sunny tries her best to protect Luka. Fortunately, one of the firefighters hears Luka and rescues them from the building. As Rune takes Sunny to the paramedics, he feels drawn to her and doesn't want to leave her alone. When he and his pack learn that she is a single mother omega with nowhere to go, they insist that she stay with them at the firehouse. As they get to know each other, Sunny is attracted to each of the pack members. Walker, the chief and lead alpha, insists that they wait until she is back on her feet and then court her properly, but when Sunny's ex comes looking for her and Luka, the pack quickly comes together to protect them.

I thought this was a cute and sweet story. There were definitely some parts that stretched the imagination a bit, but I liked the premise. I also really liked the scenes that Sunny had with each of the guys. Their interactions were really sweet and I liked how all three of them had distinct personalities. Personally I don't have kids so I don't know for sure, but it felt like maybe the author couldn't decide how old Luka should be or how delayed his development might be. In some scenes it felt like he might be around the right age and in others he seemed much younger. I also felt like there could have been a bit more character development. I did enjoy the drama that came in the third act with Sunny's ex although it did feel a little rushed. It seemed like most everything was wrapped up neatly in just a few minutes. I also really liked Sunny baking for the whole firehouse and how the side characters seemed really supportive and welcoming to her. Overall, I thought the story was really cute, but I don't know that I would read it again.

An absolutely terrific start to a new series!

🔥 Smoking hot firefighters
🚒 They smell like S’mores?!?!?
🚒 Adorable toddler
🔥 Accidental bonding
🚒 Age gap
🔥 They fall fast
🚒 Size difference
🔥 Baking love language

She needs help. They are ready and willing to step in. Can she rely on them?

I’m so happy to have Sunny’s story! We saw her twin, Storm, in Surprise! Mother Pucker! (Pucking Pregnant #3) where we get a tease of Sunny’s story coming. What a fun set-up! Being rescued by three handsome firefighters who don’t want to let her go is so fun!

I ADORE when the scents in the pack work together and the fact that these alpha firefighters add up to S’Mores?! Just the cutest thing EVER!!!! I giggled when I realized! It also really creates great memory touch points that this story will stick in my head!

Real talk time. Raising kids is HARD. In Sunny’s story we get to see other adults willingly and gladly taking responsibility and ACTION in caring for children. Seeing the men HAPPY and rejoicing in being able to share the load makes me want to sink into a comfortable chair and bask in the warm feeling of seeing partnership in loving relationships.

I loved their interactions. I loved their relationship building. What a great story! I cannot wait for the rest in this series!
I was gifted a copy of this book by the author. My opinions are my own. Thank you!
