In the countdown to Christmas the disappearance of a young girl rocks a small town community instigating a chain of events that will alter the lives of everyone involved. For Simon, the world he has built here was a second chance; though still ridden with guilt, in the eyes of the law he has paid for his mistake. Given a new identity, new history and a single confidante, he has successfully buried the truth of his past; even from Jessica, the woman he loves. Will events force Simon to step outside the prison his new identity has become and does the community have the right to know his true identity?

Conclusion:

The interplay between the characters is good.
The play moves along at a fast clip and held my attention throughout.
Secrets are sometimes better left alone...
...no need for full disclosure to prove your love.
The risk is always present that your partner
... »can’t handle the truth«
Quick read...not exceptional.
I’ve read better plays.

Last thoughts:
This play was written in 2011 and since then Suzie Miller 's
writing has improved. I am waiting to read her newest blockbuster play
"Prima Facie" (2019) as soon as it arrives from Australia in the mail!

This is one of the most heartbreaking pieces of fiction I've ever read. I will never forget it. Trigger warning for child abuse.

BTW, the description says a young girl goes missing. NO. It was a boy. Why the mistake?

Obligated review for last year lolsies.

I think its crazy to judge someone for having a suitcase full of baby clothes when you made a collage out of their x-rayed bones.
