“In the beginning…” With that simple phrase, God invites us into the story of redemption that unfolds across all sixty-six books of the Bible. He speaks light into being and later brings light and life to a world stumbling under the darkness of sin. He forms the first man from the dust of the earth and then forms a nation in the womb of an elderly and barren woman. And over all of these stories, God is the Creator and Redeemer, the One who judges and the One who rescues.
Join us for this five-week study as we journey from Eden to Egypt in the book of Genesis and encounter the God who has loved us since the very beginning.
She Reads Truth is a worldwide community of women who read God's Word together every day. Founded in 2012, She Reads Truth invites women of all ages to engage Scripture through curated daily reading plans, as well as online conversation led by a vibrant community of contributing writers. This community of “Women in the Word of God every day” represents a long list of cities and countries, a variety of backgrounds and traditions, and countless real-life stories. But there is a commonality that binds us: we believe God's Word is Truth. So we read. Every day we read a new passage together—working our way through books of the Bible, topics that matter, and seasons of the Church calendar. We engage with God's Word and with each other. And we keep coming back, on the hard days and the good days, because God and His Word never change, regardless of our circumstances.
I love new beginnings. They offer a fresh start, and there’s no better or more meaningful time to dive into the study of Genesis than at the dawn of a new year. I’ve truly loved this study—it has deeply encouraged me. Genesis reveals God’s character—His love, His compassion, His grace, and His covenant with humanity. May I refocus my eyes, renew my heart, reset my mind, and realign my thoughts as I continue forward.
What better way to start the year than a trip back to the beginning, back to Genesis. While it’s true that most ‘read the Bible in one year’ plans start in Genesis, this might be the most I feel like I’ve got out of reading Genesis – it felt like a joy rather than a chore, which it has sometimes felt in the past when I’ve been just thinking about how much I need to read and not what I’m reading.
Having the time to really reflect on each day’s readings and the additional extras that are interspersed through the book really helped me to absorb what I was reading and think about how it connects to life now.
And of course, the book was beautiful inside and out. The SRT books always feel really thoughtfully laid out and put together, to really give focus to the words that you’re reading, but to make that reading as focused as possible.
Wow! I’m fairly certain that I have read all of Genesis multiple times, but reading it chapter by chapter through this study allowed for absorption. (And using the audio version to follow along forced me to slow down!) From God’s creation to the 12 tribes of Israel - so many stories and lessons.
I really enjoyed this one! I have never pulled apart Genesis in such a slow, deliberate way before. It was a great reflection on God’s grace and mercy in spite of our constant wanderings and mistakes. His plans will not be thwarted.
