Rate this book
When basketball's golden girl meets the transfer with a past, the game changes forever.

Lucy Townes has one no distractions before the WNBA draft. She's the star shooting guard at Nebraska State, destined for greatness, with walls around her heart as solid as her three-point percentage. Then Jordan Mitchell walks into her YMCA pickup game with dangerous eyes and a smile that makes her forget every play in her book. He's supposed to be rebuilding his scandal-plagued career. She's supposed to be focused on her future. Neither of them is supposed to fall this hard.

But Jordan carries more than just a duffel bag full of basketball gear—he's got a father whose toxic presence has destroyed every good thing in his life. When their whirlwind romance goes viral and catches his dad's attention, Jordan makes an impossible break Lucy's heart to protect her dreams. Now she's nursing a sprained ankle and wounded pride while he's her unwilling caretaker, both pretending those sparks between them have fizzled out. With the conference tournament looming and their futures on the line, they're running out of time to figure out if love is worth risking everything for.

Sometimes the best defense is letting someone past your guard.

A sweet, clean sports romance full of heart-melting moments, swoony grand gestures, and all the feels. Perfect for readers who love their romance with extra heart and sweet heat.

A cute little romancy rom-com. 10 things I hate about you meets how to lose a guy in 10 days. Jordan and Lucy are the perfect couple but Jordan has a few issues he needs to over come and Lucy needs to realise that yes, she is a strong independent woman but can still fall in love and not lose herself. 4 🌟

I had higher hopes for this book. As a basketball girlie I was so excited but it jumped around a lot and it felt like I was missing so much of Lucy and Jordan’s story. It basically felt like there were a bunch of missing pages. It has so much potential.

She is focused on going to the NWBA and will do whatever it takes to get there including swearing off a romance. Until she sees him. he is focused on his law degree and her and is great at basketball. This was a cute clean romance which is not my typical read but I really enjoyed it. both have a past revolving around basketball. And in the end there’s no catch to having what you want.

I loved this book- it felt like an early 2000s romcom, but in the form of a sports romance. The chemistry between Lucy and Jordan is palpable from the first chapter, and I cannot wait for the next book of the series to come out!! 👏🏼👏🏼

Worth giving it a try but it’s DNF for me. The writing didn’t flow naturally—it felt a little stilted. Maybe I’ll circle back in the future.
