Hart County #3

Stormswept Colorado

Rate this book
He thinks I’m a spoiled diva. I think he’s a grumpy control freak.
But when a snowstorm traps us together, there’s nothing but heat.

I try to bring happiness into the world with my music. So why does Police Chief Teller Landry scowl at me like it’s his full-time job? The man is larger than life. Intimidating enough to make me nervous.

Good thing I didn’t come to Silver Ridge this weekend to impress him. I came to celebrate with the only family I have. It’s a chance to take a break from my chaotic schedule. To feel normal, even for a little while.

Then a snowstorm bearing down on Hart County leaves the two of us stranded. Just me and Chief Landry. Alone. I expect frostbite. Instead, what I get is warmth. Not just from his deadpan humor or our fiery chemistry, but the way he sees through the fame and finds me.

But just when things start to thaw between us, a stalker from my past resurfaces. Teller goes from stoic cop to fierce protector in a heartbeat.

And I’m not sure what’s scarier. The danger closing in… or how badly I want to stay in his arms forever.

In this small-town romance, you’ll find a world-famous pop star who’s not afraid to make trouble, a gruff hero who secretly adores her, spice, and pulse-pounding suspense. If you love a man who’ll burn the world down for the woman he loves, get ready to fall hard for Teller Landry.

(Spoiler-ish below)

This was good, and I actually enjoyed it. It's probably mostly because of the steady and healthy relationship between the MCs. What these two have was pretty much smooth sailing, well, looking past their beginning. Other than that, they didn't really face any major issues, except for Ayla's stalker situation.

This wasn't entirely insta-love in the sense that Ayla (27) and Teller (40) have known each other for quite a while (2 years in the present time; they met in book 1). Sure, there was an instant attraction but also a sort of dislike because of their wrong assumptions and differing personalities. He's the broody and serious chief of that town, while Ayla is the sunshine-y pop star who's a guest. It was implied she visited sporadically over time to see her niece, but they didn't really interact, and if they did, it wasn't really friendly. Teller wasn't a jerk, but with his serious face and aura, Ayla always assumed he was mad at her or something. So she's always on offense and cold toward him, but not in a mean way.

In the present time, Ayla was in town for her ex-brother-in-law's wedding (Book 1 MCs). She needed a ride to the wedding venue, and it turned out that Teller was invited too, so he thought it would be nice to offer to go together. For additional context, before this invitation, he also rescued her from being mobbed by her fans. That moment makes him slightly better in Ayla's opinion. She was grateful for his help, and she somehow softened a bit when it came to dealing with him.

Anyway, with the forced proximity as they were stuck in the car, this is where the insta-something started. They started talking and opening up to each other, which seems to have come out of nowhere imo. I mean, they barely interacted before, but apparently getting stuck driving for hours can change a whole lot of things. Add in the fact they hit a bump in the road due to the storm, which meant they were stuck even longer because they needed rescuing. And before I knew it, they were already making out. 😂 They eventually got to the venue safely, and I guess sparks flew in that car, and they decided to spend that wedding weekend together.

After the wedding, Ayla needed to go back to LA, so there was a two-week separation. I wouldn't consider this a breakup because they were never really together, and they both knew she'd be leaving and he'd go back to their small town. But it turns out after spending time together they can no longer stand that idea of being apart, and now they are both miserable. 😅

So these two decided to have a grown-up conversation, which I loved the most. They can discuss everything and anything, and there's no immaturity despite their age gap. They were both good listeners, open-minded, and willing to compromise. I also loved that the age didn't become an issue between them. He didn't think so hard that he's too old for her and that he's not good enough, blah blah blah. There's also no push and pull since they were both on the same page, so they just went for it. I just love that I wasn't anxious reading about their budding romance because I know they were both all in. I don't have to worry about anything that might break them apart because these two always communicate and can anticipate each other's feelings and needs.

I really appreciate how secure Teller is with himself, and it’s great that he didn’t try to make Ayla feel like she had to shrink herself. I like that he supports her in every way and that he reassures her all the time of his love for her. I like that Ayla also does the same thing in her own way. These two are proof that if you truly want a relationship to work, even a long-distance one, it is possible. My only issue would probably be the "proposal," if you can even call it that. It was so meh. Like, that's it??? That's the best you can come up with, Teller??? Like, come on, seriously, man!!!

As for the suspense, it was dealt with quickly and didn't even last long. The stalker was also someone who didn't have much screen time. I completely forgot about his existence and only remembered him at the end. 😅 Anyway, it was anticlimactic for me. I guess I just hoped for a better revelation or execution but didn't get that satisfaction. Ngl, he really was nuts. 🫣

Overall, romance-wise, I love it. I love the MCs together despite them really spending most of this book apart. At least they found a way to eventually be physically together almost at the last quarter. But even while they were apart, I was having a good time, especially seeing how they were so invested with one another and were committed to making the long distance work. This is by far my favorite in the series.

Book info:
- Age gap (13)
- Police chief x Popstar
- Grumpy x Sunshine
- Romantic suspense
- Stalking
- Parental neglect (past)
- Attempted assault
- Kidnapping
- Nightmares
- No cheating, OM/OW, separation
- No V (no info on their past)
- HFN (engaged)
- Bonus epilogue (wedding day and planning to have kids)

Notes:
- OM1. Not really, but Ayla's producer was sleazy and almost kissed her at one event. She kneed him in the balls, though, so… 😂
- OM2. The stalker.
- Separation. There was a two-week separation after the wedding, but they were not really together anyway atp.
- No, V. Ayla mentioned she had relationships and boyfriends, and Teller said he rarely had sex and hadn't felt much need for it even when he was younger. 🤭 He got engaged once, though, to his then girlfriend of six years, but she cheated on him.

PS. Hard pass on the next book. I knew Callum was a hoe from book 1, but to be reminded of that lifestyle a few times in this one definitely nailed the point home. Also, his book is sort of a second-chance romance because he knew the FMC since they were teens, but she moved away for college, and now she's back in town?? So yeah, it's enemies-to-lovers and second chance, and I have a feeling that he's been pining for her or she's his TOTGA, or "it's always been her". Anywaaay, the tropes aren't for me. Also, I can't remove from my head how many times I read that he has different women/tourists every time—just nope, but to each their own.

3 Ayla & Teller Stars

This was an enjoyable romance / suspense novel. Likeable main characters we have met before in previous books.
Teller is the Police Chief and also brother to Piper / uncle to Ollie. Ayla is the former sister in law of Ashford (Book 1) and Aunt to Maisie.

They start off not on great terms but a series of events brings them closer - the chemistry is undeniable. Teller is over a decade older & Ayla is a world renowned pop star so their lives are different but ultimately they fit together.

Lots of passion, some funny moments, just enough drama too!

HEA? Yes
Cheating? No

If you want suspense and romance, then Hannah Shield is here for you. As someone who has read this whole series, I can tell you that you will spend the whole book trying to figure out who the bad guy is. This book I was half right but also completely wrong. But once you find out who it is, you remember all the signs you previously read and connect the dots.

I will admit this wasn’t my favorite of the series, but it was still a great read. I still didn’t know who the bad guy was until the end. Maybe the stakes weren’t as high as they were in the other books but I still did enjoy this book and will definitely be back for the next books in this series.

So this is a pop star falls for the chief of the police in a small town. Which is a challenge already. Plus since we have meet these characters in the previous books, we had some idea of what was brewing between them. But things get complicated when Ayla gets a stalker. She thinks it will blow over because that is unfortunately what happens when you live in the spotlight. But her chief of police, Teller takes this seriously and looks into it.

Things escalate, both in the case and between them. Like I said, you can’t guess who it is until the end. I truly thought I had it this time but I didn’t and was shocked in the end.

Pick up this book and this series for a good plot twist at the end. Even though this is part of a series, you don’t have to read the previous books. I mean I recommend you do (the second book is my favorite) but you won’t be lost if you haven’t read them.

Thank you LoveNotes PR and Hannah Shield for this ARC 🫶🏻

A snowstorm has hit Hart County, leaving the pop star and the Police Chief snowed in. We have met our characters before in previous books. Ayla just needs to get away and be with her family. Our grumpy growly top cop is not as he appears, and see’s through Ayla’s mask.

But Ayla has a stalker, and Chief Teller is not about to let slide.

A great addition to the series, more suspense and a plot twist I expected, but still got me. Alya is a confident and sassy character; her snark and their banter make for a fun read.

Thank you to the Author for the advanced copy; this is my voluntary review.

3.5 ⭐️

Ayla and Teller were really cute together, but I did find myself hoping for a little more. The “snowed in” part of the story really only lasted for a few hours, which was a bit of a let down. I was hoping for a snowed in and isolated for days type of thing where Ayla and Teller were at each other’s throats until finally snapping and giving into their sexual attraction. What we got was more subdued than that, but still entertaining.

It was sweet to see how supportive Teller was of Ayla. He knew how important it was to her that she make her own decisions and the way he would be there for her if she did need him was lovely. Ayla herself was really down to earth considering her status as a famous pop star. I wish we would have seen more of her in that setting, but think it is great the story primarily focused on her relationship with Teller and others around her.

I really loved the mystery aspect of this story, though! There was not a shortage of suspects, which I think is great because it kept the story exciting and suspenseful. That reveal and action at the end was thrilling, although I did think Ayla made some questionable decisions.

❄️Snowed In
🩵Grumpy Cinnamon Roll Police Chief
🏅Ex-Special Forces MMC
💥Fiesty Pop Star FMC
🫦Age Gap (27, 40)
💝He Falls First
🫣Stalker

A trusty small town sta1ker suspense with an extremely lovable couple that gets your feet kicking with joy! Pop Star Ayla is visiting Colorado for a wedding and is hesitant to meet the town grump Police Chief, Teller, again. They rubbed each other the wrong way in an earlier encounter. But their banter soon lights up into firework chemistry when he shows his protectivenes and genuine feelings.

He's serious minded, an ex Green Beret (wounded from an IED) and a bit of a lonely heart. I love how they get to really know each other, reveal truths no one else knows when they end up stuck in a car after a slippery accident.

The big question is can a relationship work when she's in LA and he's the stand up protector of a small town city. Plus the struggles complicated when he tries to help her from afar from a sta1ker.

Teller is incredibly sweet, honorable, gentlemanly, and so far gone for brilliantly shining Ayla. The age gap isn’t angsty in this one. I give him credit that he wants to try a relationship with her from the beginning, despite her celebrity status.

Them working from a distance was refreshing to see, it allowed for them to strengthen and reflect on their connection in a unique way. I loved them as a couple. It was an easy love. There was a true spark between them. Teller is a walking cinnamon roll clad in uniform and meaty biceps, and I drool over him. I really want to see mysterious Graydon's story (I'm hoping for angst with him), hoping he's the book after the next!

ARC Review:

- Ayla Maxwell is a singer/celebrity, and Teller Landry is ex-military/small town chief of police

- While it was mentioned in one scene that he had a crush on her in the past, I felt like the romance came pretty fast. They fall in love in a week, so if you like slow burn this won't be the book for you. They did get the time to learn about each other, but I also felt like it was a bit too soon?

- The person behind the stalking was.. underwhelming tbh. You had a lot of potential characters that could've been Ayla's stalker, but then the reveal happened and I was like :/

- The dialogue and the inner monologue of the main characters at times were a bit cringe.

- I did love the age gap though lol I've always had a thing for the older man/younger woman trope (I also love it when the FMC is my age or around my age)

- I loved the way Teller treated Ayla: let her make her own decisions, remembered her interests/dreams & gifted her things, stood by her when she felt overwhelmed & listened to her as she talked about her past trauma

- I loved how fierce, yet soft Ayla was. Stood up for herself, and also cared about her family/friends & fans. She was so strong and brave in how she handled her stalker.

- The mirror 🌶️ scene? 😌👌🏽

- Not really a critique, but I think if the author went down the thriller route Teller would've been the 𝘱𝘦𝘳𝘧𝘦𝘤𝘵 antagonist. He's chief of police, has a home in the woods, respected by everyone in town, has said to the FMC nothing or anyone would get between them... that's scary to think about.

Overall? Prob would give this 3.75/5
It was an okay read, but I honestly don't see myself coming back to it.

I totally loved this book. Teller was such a grumpy and serious guy at first, but underneath he was super caring and protective, especially with Ayla. I didn’t expect him to be so sweet, but it made me like him more and more. And Ayla was fire! Sassy, confident, and strong. Even with all the crazy things happening in her life, she didn’t let it break her. Their chemistry was *chef’s kiss,* like, full-on sparks flying. I laughed at their banter, but also felt emotional in the deeper parts. The suspense with the stalker added a whole new layer, and kept me turning pages without stopping. The small town vibes were so cozy and made everything feel real, like you’re part of their circle. Honestly, I didn’t want it to end. Can’t wait to read the next book in the series! Thank you so much to the author and Love Notes PR for giving me the opportunity to read the book in advance, I received this for free and I'm leaving an honest review.

I love me a small town atmosphere, add some mountains and I’m sold! I loved this book. It is the third in the series, but could easily be read as a standalone. Teller was the perfect grumpy guy that was so super sweet and caring to his woman. He was the ultimate swoon…le sigh! Ayla was a good heroine too, independent, a badass superstar. Not a doormat, not TSTL. Our couple communicated and was mature. I was here for it! We get tons of smexy times and a good suspense plot. I will be looking for other books by this author!

Safety:
- No OW
- OM: a record exec of h wanted her and tried to kiss her. She knees him in the nuts. At a later point H also deals with him.
- OM: h has a stalker that wants her for himself. He is revealed toward the end and gets dealt with.
- No cheating
- After initial hook up MCs spend two weeks apart not knowing the status of their relationship. Both were pining though. After they become an item, no more relationship separation.

Hannah Shield’s latest book in the Hart County series pulled me in fast and didn’t let go. The chemistry between Teller and Ayla crackles from the start—grumpy-feisty perfection with a sprinkle of satisfying enemies-to-lovers. I loved how layered the story was. There’s humor, heat, heartfelt family moments, and suspense that continually amps up. It kept me on edge, and I couldn’t turn the pages fast enough. I loved watching how Teller emerged from his hard shell. He’s everything you'd want in a protective small-town hero, and Ayla was the perfect counter with her blend of sassy, fun, and vulnerable. A wonderful read. Can’t wait for the next installment in this series!

I couldn't wait to get my hands on Ayla and Teller's love story! I was laughing and smiling so hard my cheeks hurt! Ayla, a popstar, seemed to always bring trouble to Teller, who also happens to be the Chief of Police. They become trapped in a snowstorm that changes everything. The heat and banter between these two were off the charts! Danger was thrown in the mix, and the story became combustible! We've met these two previously in the series, but I fell in love with them even more. I can't wait for the next book in the series!

This is definitely one of the best romance books I have read so far this year🥰. Almost all my favorit trops in one book, what is not to like. Enemies to lovers, Protective hero, small town romance, Grumpy/sunshine og forced proximity🤩.

Something I really like in this book is how, there is a big sub plot that works well with the romance portion of the book. All of the plots are very well balanced and work really well together. This really is a page turner📚

I Would highly recommend this book to reader that enjoy the cowboy romance vibes and to readers that like the Knockemout series by Lucy Score. I can’t wait for the next book to come out❤️

“Stormswept Colorado” is the third book in Hannah’s new series “Hart County Series.” In this small-town romance, you’ll find a world-famous pop star who’s not afraid to make trouble, a gruff hero who secretly adores her, spice, and pulse-pounding suspense. If you love a man who’ll burn the world down for the woman he loves, get ready to fall hard for Teller Landry.

“For some reason, my heart rate kicked up as I imagined seeing Ayla Maxwell again.”

Teller Landry is the Chief of Police in Silver Ridge, Colorado, his hometown. When he finished school, he joined the Army and then served with the Special Forces which had been the honour of his life. His military service came to a tragic end when an IED almost killed him and half his platoon. Now, other than being town sheriff, he is older brother to his sister Piper and Uncle to his nephew Ollie - both being very important to him.

Ayla Maxwell is a pop star at the peak of her career. She loves coming to Silver Ridge where she can relax and be herself without being smothered by the paparazzi. Thanks to Chief Landry, he keeps the town safe, as well as herself. Ayla was in town this weekend for her brother-in-laws wedding, Ashford O’Neal. He and Emma Jennings are getting married this coming weekend in Hartley, the county seat.

Teller and Ayla are barely civil to each other, but underneath, everything may not be as it appears….when a fight breaks out downtown when Ayla is cornered in a store latter that evening. On arrival, Ayla is in the midst of everything, with her bodyguard, trying to get to her vehicle. With her refusing to listen, he picks her up, literally! “Every part of me jolted at the sensation of having her pressed to me. Her silky hair brushed my cheek, and I caught a whiff of something darkly sweet, like caramel. The warm weight of her body settled against me like it belonged there.”

With everyone, including her bodyguard, involved in the riot being arrested and taken to the station. Ayla is angry with Brian being arrested….Her eyes flashed. “Then you can arrest me too.” Fine, “Ayla Maxwell, you’re under arrest.” Something about Teller Landry just makes her lose all common sense. It didn’t help that his firm touch when he put her in handcuffs ignited every one of her nerve endings like sparklers on New Year’s. “A flush spread over my skin.”

With a snow storm coming in, threatening to close the pass earlier than expected, Teller offers Ayla, aka Troublemaker, a lift in the afternoon so that they can both make it to the wedding. Whilst driving, the barriers start to come down and they talking….enjoying each other’s company. They end up stuck in a ditch when Teller has to swerve to miss a bull elk, and whilst waiting for a tow truck, things get hot and heavy. “Something was happening between us, though I had no idea what it was.” The nights either side of the wedding they spend in each other’s arms.

On Monday morning, will they be able to go their separate ways? Ayla back to Los Angeles and Teller to Silver Ridge….”There was no hesitation in this kiss. Anyone could’ve seen us, but Teller didn’t care, and neither did I. His tongue teased me with slow, deep strokes that left me shivering….”

A thoroughly enjoyable read from one chapter to the next - at times you are metaphorical “on the edge of your chair” wondering what will happen next. You will fall in love with Teller and Ayla, hoping that everything with work out for them, will they have a future together. Teller is ex Special Services, he is use to controlling his emotions, but around Ayla …… will the barrier come down and let her into his heart? To be quite honest, you will not be able to put this book down - I cannot wait for the next book in this series. Overall, I would highly recommend this book and you will not be disappointed 😊

I WANNA BE SWEPT TO COLORADO!!!
Holy hell I loved this book! I'm probably giving this book a higher rating than most, but I seriously could not put this down! As someone who hasn't read the 1st 2 books in this series I felt this was still a strong standalone & didn't feel like I was missing any background by not having read the previous 2.
This book was everything I could want & I could esp relate to the age gap theme. I mean you have:
🥐Grumpy (YUMMY) cinnamon roll MMC
🥰 Forced Proximity
🏡 Small Town
🫣 Suspense/Mystery
🕰️ Age Gap
🔥STEAMY (like really)
and then you meet Teller... Oh Teller, Teller, I was not ready for you.
https://media.giphy.com/media/v1.Y2lk...
This big n' broody, serious mountain of a man police chief, that doesn't stand riff raff in his town. Including any trouble 1 super celeb Ayla Maxwell may bring with her. Classic 1st interaction & warm finger greeting to said chief kicks off our nemesis turned lovers story.
Fast forward to chapters 7 & 8 which is basically foreplay leading into chapter 15
https://media0.giphy.com/media/v1.Y2l...
Of course there's a build up to get to our sexy car scene, however it builds pretty fast because once they arrive at the Inn it all goes down from there... I mean he LITERALLY goes down...
"This is a duet, and its for you as much as it's for me"
The struggle of doing long distance & trying to figure out how to be together is heightened by Ayla's creepy stalker. Which HS added layers of suspense with some twists with some interesting character developments you would've have initially thought of. The creep factors are smoothed out by Teller's borderline obsessive protectiveness of Ayla's safety, but we'll just consider that his past solider mentality coming through.
I do have to say Ayla is 27 & rightly so does make some, imma say it, just dumb decisions & actions, however I can understand that HS was trying to portray her as "fighter" that needs to take control of her life. Like girlie pop do not run outta the house when someone's trying to get to you👀🫠.
Clearly I'm in love with Teller cause I cant shut up about him😂but I enjoyed his POV being an older man whose clearly ready to be tied down- figuratively & probably literally😏. I liked how HS wrote his insecurities about age/body/status, that are some very realistic things that men at a certain age can experience (as someone who has an age gap w/ her partner).
We love that he encourages Ayla to be her true self- "don't make yourself smaller, especially not for me" while simultaneously working to solve who the town degenerate & Ayla's stalker is & also keep everyone safe.
Skip to the end everyone loves a happy ending that consists of more steamy scenes & a bright future.
"Being your man is a different kind of honor. A different challenge too, if I'm honest. But I'm here for it. I'm ready." _ what every girl dreams of hearing from their man or woman.
Hannah I'm ready for the next book!

three-point-five stars

this one started so strong for me, and while the ending did not hit the high note promises of the beginning, it was still a wholly enjoyable and really lovely read.

ayla and teller were so cute together and absolutely meant to be. while the two of them are stranded together for a short period of time during a blizzard, they open up to each other about their past and feelings in a way that they never have with anyone else before. their emotional connection is intense and deep from the start, and adding to that their physical attraction and chemistry, the two find themselves quickly not being able to stay away from each other.

i really loved how safe ayla felt with teller, both physically as her stalker begins to raise the stakes and the danger becomes more real, but also emotionally, telling him secrets that she's kept for many years and knowing that she can trust him with everything, including her heart. and teller was just such a softie for her—he may have been gruff and surly on the outside, but it was very apparent very quickly that he was a complete cinnamon roll. and while he protects ayla throughout the book, it is clear and explicitly stated many times that she's more than capable of handling herself and that wanting teller's care doesn't make her any less able to make her own choices or take control of her life. and the ending, the compromises that are made for them to be together, is very reflective of that.

i also felt like the suspense and stalking subplot was done really well. there were multiple suspects throughout the story that kept me guessing as to who it might really be. and the reveal turned out to be unexpected, but not totally out of left-field, which i appreciated. the high-stakes intensity as ayla's stalking situation comes to a head not only offered an exciting climax for the book, but also a way for ayla and teller to grow even closer in their rapidly developing relationship.

while the cast of characters is sprawling and a bit confusing at times (i did come into this series in the third book, i know) and the connection between ayla and teller felt a bit overstated at others, this was overall still a really great read, and a big recommendation for anyone looking for a sweet small town romance with a bit of danger; opposites attract in a small-town cop and world-famous pop star, neither of whom are who they appear to be based on those descriptions; and a heated, instant connection that blossoms into a tender and understanding love.

thank you so much to love notes pr and hannah shield for the gifted e-arc!

An Absolute Masterpiece of Cozy Suspense and Magnetic Romance!

From the very first page, "Stormswept Colorado" by Hannah Shield enveloped me in the most perfect cozy small-town vibe while delivering a thrilling undercurrent of suspense that kept me utterly captivated. This book is a brilliant blend of everything I adore in a romance, and I was deeply invested in every single moment of Teller and Ayla's story.

Teller Landry is now officially one of my all time favorite heroes. I absolutely loved how genuinely he cared about his town and how he strived to be perceived as approachable and trustworthy by his community. This ex-military hero is a true protective hero with a heart of gold, perfectly embodying the grumpy cinnamon roll trope.

And Ayla! Her sassy yet incredibly sweet attitude was so endearing and made her an instant favorite. The magnetic chemistry between these two was off the charts palpable; their dynamic, a fantastic example of opposites attract with a charming age gap, sparked from their very first encounter. The forced proximity was executed flawlessly, especially my absolute favorite moment: when they are snowed in together in his police cruiser. That scene was pure magic and perfectly showcased their developing bond. It truly highlights the "he falls first" trope, and watching Teller fall for Ayla was just swoon-worthy. The story also beautifully incorporates hurt/comfort elements as Teller steps up to protect Ayla from a dangerous stalker.

This book is a masterclass in blending romantic and cozy elements with a compelling thriller plot. Hannah Shield has created a rich, emotional, and unforgettable reading experience.

The story unfolds when a famous pop star and a stoic police chief are forced to spend time together during a snowstorm, creating the perfect storm for sparks to fly.

Ayla, a world-renowned pop star, is used to being in the spotlight but longs for a brief escape from the chaos of her life. Silver Ridge provides a chance for her to relax and enjoy time with her only family, but her plans are quickly disrupted when she ends up trapped in a snowstorm with the gruff, no-nonsense Chief Teller Landry. Teller, a man who seems to scowl at everything, especially her fame, becomes an unlikely companion. Despite their differences, the two are drawn together, and what starts as tension-filled moments soon turns into undeniable chemistry.

Hannah Shield masterfully weaves their connection, showing the way Teller begins to see beyond the pop star image and into the person she truly is. The slow-burn romance between the stubborn, brooding hero and the spirited, fame-weary heroine is a delight, and you’ll fall for Teller Landry in no time.

“I’ll be in your corner too. You owe me nothing, okay? You don’t have to be anyone with me except yourself.”

✔️romantic suspense
✔️celebrity (musician) FMC x police chief MMC
✔️opposites attract
✔️age gap (she’s 27, he’s 40)
✔️forced proximity (snowed in)
✔️small town
✔️no 3rd act breakup

I just want to say upfront that I loved this book. There was just the right balance of romance and suspense, and I was anticipating reading this one since the MCs met in book one of the series (Starcrossed Colorado). Ayla (FMC) and Teller (MMC) are complete opposites — big city celebrity/musician girl and small town police chief boy — but they just make sense together. After a brief period of being annoyed toward each other they get stuck together in a snow storm and realize how wrong their initial assumptions are. They dive headfirst into something they both know they’ll never get enough of and never recover from.

The suspense in this book is just the right amount of unsettling without being overly creepy (if that makes sense). I won’t spoil anything or reveal who the villain is obviously, I will just say that there is a twist and it is a good one. I definitely didn’t see it coming but it made perfect sense once all of the pieces fit together and you think back to the hints that were dropped earlier in the story. Though the suspense plot is a major plot line, it doesn’t overshadow the romance or relationship building in any way, if anything it helped push them closer together. I love how open and honest they are with each other once they get past the initial annoyance, and that Ayla is such a strong individual. She doesn’t need Teller to save her, and though he wants to protect her, first and foremost he wants her to live her life on her terms. The way they navigate being long distance and all of the ways Teller shows her he cares even when they are apart are just so sweet.

This is a standalone, and you can read it without reading the other two books in the series first. That said, I think I appreciated this story and these MCs more because I was anticipating them getting together for so long. The spice is well done as is the pacing. Overall I highly recommend this book and the whole series, and I can’t wait until I can dive back into this world in future stories!

*Thank you so much to the author (Hannah Shield) and Love Notes PR for the opportunity to ARC read this book! All opinions are my own*

A Storm of Emotion in This Small-Town Romance!
I eagerly dove into this third installment, and let me tell you, it delivered everything I hoped for and more! Picking up with two characters who’ve previously had a rather… rocky start, this book throws them into an unexpected situation that ignites a love as powerful as the storm raging outside.
Our leading lady, a dazzling pop star, finds herself stranded with the very police chief she’s previously clashed with. When a fierce storm hits, forcing them together, the sparks that fly are undeniable. What began as a palpable dislike quickly transforms into something deeper and more profound. It was incredibly satisfying to witness their initial animosity melt away, revealing a powerful connection that neither could deny.
I absolutely adored the small-town romance vibe woven throughout this story. The sense of found family among the townspeople is beautifully portrayed, creating a warm and comforting backdrop to the unfolding drama. And it truly took a literal storm to make our protagonists admit their undeniable connection, which made their journey to love all the more compelling.
If you’re a fan of a protector MMC – and this small-town police chief certainly fits the bill – you’ll be swooning. He's fiercely dedicated to keeping his town and, eventually, our pop star safe. Complementing him is a strong FMC who, despite her celebrity status, shows incredible resilience and heart. The dynamic between them is captivating, showcasing both their vulnerabilities and their strengths.
And for those who enjoy a little extra thrill, the underlying suspense element adds a fantastic layer of intrigue to the story, keeping you on the edge of your seat even as the romance blossoms.
In summary, this book is a captivating blend of small-town charm, sizzling romance, and gripping suspense. It's a testament to how love can bloom in the most unexpected circumstances, especially when a storm forces you to face your true feelings. Highly recommend for anyone who enjoys a strong hero, a determined heroine, and a love story forged in the heart of a close-knit community.

5⭐️Star Read
First thing I want to say is thank you to the author for sending me this ARC book!!!!
I loved that Teller had two cases of mint chocolate chip ice cream sandwiches mailed to Ayla
I loved hearing more of Emma and Ashford and Maisie from the first book of this series and also since Ashford is Ayla's brother-in-law from his first wife and Maisie is her niece but I also loved that she considers him has her brother even though her sister is not alive. And I also loved how she is with her niece too in the book.
I enjoyed reading about there time stuck in the snow together.
I hated Paul and what he did to Ayla.
There was different twists and turns in this book trying to figure out who was stalking Ayla.
I loved the romance between Teller and Ayla and also I loved how he protects her too and stood up for her.❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
I liked Bryan her bodyguard/driver
I loved how obsessed Teller was over Ayla
I hated Ayla’s father and what he did to her in this book too.
I also hated Sergeant Carpenter and what he did to her and called her names when he took her home after she babysat his son.
Loved how passionate and brave Ayla was.
This was a spicy read too.🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️
Liked how Teller was with his sister Piper and his nephew Ollie.
Also hated Finn Mackie who work at the same police station that Teller was Chief of Police at and what he did too. But I am glad Teller found and saved her too. I was so happy that she got out of her recording contract and got to sing for herself and other people. I loved how he called her troublemaker in the book. And I also loved how Teller stepped down from being Chief of police to be with her. And I am glad she decided to stay in Sliver Ridge with him.
And I am glad he propose to her at the end of the book.

Another great book in the Hart County series! I was so excited for Ayla and Teller story since we first met them on Starcrossed Colorado, and OMG it was so much fun!.

In Stormswept Colorado, we’ve still get our beloved small town charm, but this time accompanied by a splash of LA glam!

I really liked Ayla in the previous books, but she completely won me over in this one! She’s strong, independent, kind, and her initial banter with Teller is just chef’s kiss! I also adored her relationship with Maisie and Ashford.

And Teller?! Our broody chief of police with a heart of gold! He truly is a golden retriever and cinnamon roll hero! He falls first and hard! Loved it! Can we talk about the bookstore moment?! GOALS
Loved how he was the perfect balance between protective and passionate, but never controlling. He supports Ayla without ever dimming her light, and that made me fall for him even harder.

What I loved most is how their relationship builds, steadily, and in such a healthy way. They go from feisty strangers, who clearly have the hots for each other to being stranded in a car during a snowstorm to something so strong and sweet! Also really appreciated how they worked through distance as to me it made their relationship stronger.

And let’s not forget the suspense twist! The Stalker?! It completely blindsided me.

Once again loved seeing the gang together, and I am sooooo curious about Callum and his teased FMC Zandra 👀👀 Speaking of future books, I am 98% sure Piper is going to end up with Graydon, the mysterious older O’Neil brother!

This one was the perfect read to scape the scorching heat, who else would sign to be snowed down with a sexy hero? If you’re into small town romances with a splash of fame full of heart and just the right amount of suspense, this one’s a must-read!

✨Forced Proximity
🦋 Age Gap
💙Opposites attract
🌼 No Third-Act Breakup
✨ Suspense
❄️ Small town
🎶 Pop star x Chief of Police

Thank you Love Notes PR and Hannah for the advance copy, all my thoughts are my own!

📚ARC Review ‘Stormswept Colorado’ by Hannah Shield📚
•Rating:⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

✨About the characters:
Ayla:
She is so freaking sweet. She is strong, ambitious, and funny — and I loved how she enjoyed teasing Teller every now and then. Her childhood wasn’t easy, but she never let it break her spirit. She kept chasing what she loves, and she’s proud of it.

Because she’s famous, a lot of people betrayed her or weren’t true friends, but I love that she found people who actually see her and are there for her. Her family means so much, and it was beautiful to see her surrounded by real support. I especially adored her bond with Maisie and how they stick to their little routines.

Teller:
He’s a little grumpy at times, but also so caring and protective — especially when it comes to his family. He’s been carrying responsibilities since he was young, and now as police chief, he’s constantly looking out for everyone around him. I loved how he genuinely wanted to see Ayla for who she is and how much he supports and protects her. You really see him grow through the book — relaxing and allowing himself to have more fun, thanks to Ayla. And I admire how present he is for Ollie too.

✨My thoughts:
This was my first book by Hannah and wow, what a mistake not picking up her books sooner! This book was amazing. It had just the right balance of mystery, romance, and emotional moments, but I also found myself laughing more than once. The setting was so cozy and beautiful and I honestly wish I could visit that town.

As for Ayla and Teller? Perfect. They start off trying to be civil because of a wedding, not exactly liking each other, but the way their relationship shifts and deepens is everything. Watching them fall in love felt so natural and sweet.

The side characters added so much heart. I loved the strong family vibe throughout the whole story — how everyone had each other’s backs. I’m seriously excited to read the other books in the series and see more of these characters!

I recommend this book and can’t wait to get my hands on the next one.

When I first started this series Ayla was introduced and I just knew her book would be full of suspense and mystery. Hannah delivered! There’s a delicious amount of spice mixed into the unraveling plot of who has been stalking Ayla for so long. I so enjoyed this book I read it in a day cause I was obsessed. I’m really looking forward to book 4.

Tropes:
Celebrity pop star
Small town sheriff / ex military
Age gap
Healing one another
Forced proximity
Stalker mystery

Book overview:

"Stormswept Colorado" is easily one of the best books I’ve read this year—an absolute gem that had me hooked from start to finish. Hannah Shield blends sizzling chemistry, heartfelt emotion, and edge-of-your-seat suspense in a small-town romance that hits all the right notes.

The story follows Ayla Maxwell, a world-famous pop star craving a moment of normalcy, and Teller Landry, the grumpy, stoic police chief of Silver Ridge. Their first impression of each other? Let’s just say it’s far from warm. He thinks she’s a pampered diva, and she’s convinced he’s a walking thundercloud of attitude. But when a snowstorm strands them in a car together, sparks start to fly—and not the cold kind.

I loved the forced proximity between Ayla and Teller. Their banter was sharp, the tension delicious, and once the walls came down, the emotional depth between them was beautiful to watch unfold. Teller—ex-military, intimidating, fiercely protective—might come off as all gruff and grit, but with Ayla, we get to see the soft, cinnamon-roll heart he hides from the world.

As their connection deepens, danger from Ayla’s past crashes back into her life, and Teller shifts from grumpy cop to unwavering protector in a heartbeat. The suspense only adds to the emotional stakes, making their love story all the more powerful.

This book delivers everything:

✔️ Opposites attract

✔️ Age gap

✔️ Forced proximity (yes, stuck in a car)

✔️ Ex-military hero with a soft side

✔️ Hurt/comfort

✔️ He falls first (and falls hard)

Ayla and Teller’s story is electric, emotional, and unforgettable. If you love romances where the hero would burn the world down for the woman he loves, "Stormswept Colorado" needs to be next on your reading list. I absolutely loved it.

I've been waiting for this book ever since they first appeared, and boy was it worth the wait. Hannah gave us another great story of romance intermixed with suspense.

We've met both Ayla and Teller in previous books where we get the impression they don't really like each other. There's always a lot of tension whenever they're in the same room or place but you could feel there was a lot more beneath the surface.

Teller is ex-Green Beret, now serving as the town sherrif. He's a very serious man, lives for his job and his towns people. Whenever he encounters Ayla trouble seems to follow and even though he acts as if it's the worst thing to happen, he secretly admires her. He's even got a crush on her which he'll never admit out loud to his friends.

Ayla is a famous pop star who loves coming to Hart County to visit family and have some peace and quiet. Unfortunately things never turn out that way and now she's even got a stalker following her.

When Teller and Ayla get stuck during a snow blizzard and have to wait for help, they clear the air and open up to each other. They get to see another side of one another and notice that they have more in common than they first thought. Feelings grow and when he finds out she's being stalked he does everything possible to help her, even when she needs to return to LA.

I really loved this book, the growing feelings between Teller and Ayla was a delight to read. It was so great to see Teller's walls crumbling down, to be so protective of Ayla. I loved how even though there was an age difference, they didn't let it be a hindrance, they went all in.

If you love small town romance with a touch of suspense than Stormswept Colorado is the book for you.

This is book 3 in Hannah Shields 'Hart County' series. The hero of the story is grumpy Police Chief Teller Landry, who is not happy to see pop sensation Ayla Maxwell back in 'his' town.

The two spend time with each other after getting in a accident, they come to realise that their immediate dislike for each other was misplaced. Unfortunately their lives are very different and they see no future for them, when Ayla returns to her world. Will they be able to make room for each other or will the Ayla end up as Teller's 'wild weekend' story.

I really enjoyed getting to know both of these characters. Ayla was introduced in book one, but in her story we see how multifaceted she really is, and why she disappeared from her sister life as a teen.

Teller is a big grumpy guy who puts everything and everyone else first, including Ayla when he hears that she may be in danger. The chemistry between these two ignites and pulls them together, despite their differences and it's nice to see Teller take something for himself.

With a malevolent force targeting not only Ayla, but Tanner's hometown, the suspense is balanced with this cinnamon roll hero's realisation that he can't control the whole world.

I always enjoy romantic suspense, but Hannah Shields books are always a cut above most, with a well thought out plot that is enhanced by the romantic element rather than a just a mechanism to move the relationship along. The supporting cast of characters add depth to the Hart County tapestry, as well as cameos from the 'Last Refuge' protectors, means that this is another great story of love, risk, found family and the all important HEA.
