Connie Barrera #14

Sailor's Revenge - A Connie Barrera Thriller: The 14th Novel in the Caribbean Mystery and Adventure Series

Rate this book
A thrilling tale of Smuggling, Revenge, and High-seas Adventure.

Connie Barrera admits to being a reformed con artist, and her husband, Paul Russo, is a retired homicide detective. They were enjoying an idyllic sail a hundred miles west of the Eastern Caribbean islands. Several miles downwind of the low-lying, uninhabited sand-spit known as Isla de Aves, they saw smoke on the horizon.

Puzzled by the smoke, they altered course to investigate. A burning megayacht lay in the island's anchorage. A smaller, sunken yacht rested on the bottom nearby. Only its flying bridge was above water.

They found an unconscious couple on the flying bridge of the sunken vessel and lowered them to their yacht. When they discovered that the people from the megayacht were beyond help, they sailed for Dominica to find medical care for the injured couple. Within hours, armed men attacked and boarded their yacht.

What happened at Isla de Aves? Who sent the men to attack Connie and Paul? Why did they order Connie's death?

You'll find the answers in Sailor's Revenge .

Perfect for fans of action and adventure in the Caribbean.

Welcome aboard!
Charles Dougherty is a lifelong sailor; he's lived what he writes. He and his wife have spent over 30 years sailing together. For 15 years, they lived aboard their boat full-time, cruising the East Coast and the islands. They spent most of that time exploring the Eastern Caribbean. Dougherty is well acquainted with the islands and their people. The characters and locations in his novels reflect his experience.
A storyteller before all else, Dougherty lets his characters speak for themselves. Pick up one of his thrillers and listen to the sound of adventure as you smell the salt air. Enjoy the views of distant horizons and meet some people you won't forget.
Dougherty has written over 25 books. His Bluewater Thrillers are set in the yachting world of the Caribbean and chronicle the adventures of two young women running a luxury charter yacht in a rough-and-tumble environment. The Connie Barrera Thrillers are also set in the Caribbean and feature some of the same characters from a slightly more romantic perspective. Besides the Bluewater Thrillers and the Connie Barrera Thrillers, he wrote The Redemption of Becky Jones, a psycho-thriller, and The Lost Tourist Franchise, a short story about one of the characters from Deception in Savannah.
He has also written two non-fiction books. Life's a Ditch is the story of how he and his wife moved aboard their sailboat, Play Actor, and their adventures along the east coast of the U.S. Dungda de Islan' relates their experiences while cruising the Caribbean.

wow!

This was a very good read! This story was a very fast paced non stop action. I have owned many boats in my day but nothing as exciting as this. I enjoyed every minute of this book!

Although Sailors Revenge is #14 in the Connier Barrera series, this is my first adventure with Connie and Paul. The story was action packed and very enjoyable, although I feel knowing more of Connie’s backstory would have enhanced my reading experience. This is a series worth exploring.

YAY--these books are delicious quick-read "snacks" and this was one of my favorites. I've read them all--Other series, too! What makes the Connie Barrera series so great is I can buy into them. I bit this one hook line and sinker. Loved it! (The Finn series sometimes stretches my limits of belief--I still enjoy reading the books, I just can't buy into them like this series as they can push beyond the realm of my imagination. This series I can go with the characters and stay into an entire book, letting myself roll with the stories.) These books are perfect to read if you're dreaming of sailing or boating. Ideal reads for cruisers, loopers, or boating wannabes (or dreaming).

I've really enjoyed the Connie Barrera series, but this one fizzles out Too much planning and strategy so as to be sleep inducing when the actual action is over in moments, with few twists and threats. I hope this is the last in the series. The first 13 books were much more interesting and fun to read.
