A SLEEP PARALYSIS DEMON has been haunting me since the night my inconsiderate roommate and her friends brought a Ouija board into our dorm room. It was the Autumn of 1998. When their game got creepy, we argued. The Ouija's mouse landed on the keyboard of my computer, letting the demon into it.
He started sending me sick chain emails, demanding that I do recite a spell, forward it to people... sleep naked. When I ignored him, I couldn't sleep for days.
Desperate for rest, I finally complied. That was the terrifying night that I realized he'd never let me escape his touch. Obsessed and with insatiable lust, Bane will stop at nothing to keep me in the dream world...
The only thing more dangerous? His immortal enemy found me.
Holy cow!!!! This book is a trip. Imagine all the goodness of the 90's plus an obsessive sleep paralysis demon all rolled into one, then this book is for you. Bane has been searching and dreaming about his little dream all his life and she doesn't know it bit ahe has been dreaming of him too. One night her roommate brings in a ouija board and allows bane to see his dream for the first time. Will she give in to him? She becomes just obsessed with him as he is with her. To fit into his world she will have to undergo a transformation but when she hasn't spoken to bane she buys a cheap ouija board but bane isn't who she summons but his nemesis The Sandman who places a curse on her. Can they lift the curse? Guess you will have to read this amazing book. The spice is chefs kisses and has open/closed door scene and please check your trigger warnings as there are dark themes in this book.
I really liked this book. From the 90's item references to the story line! I found it incredibly entertaining and read the first 75% last night when I received my ARC copy until I couldn't hold my eyes open anymore! As soon as I got off work tonight I finished it! It. Was. So. Good!!! Thank you Nander for giving me the opportunity to read your book. I loved it!!!
This was a fun paranormal romance set in the 90s, and the references were so on point. I read this book twice. The first time, I was loving until I hit the epilogue, which for me didn't quite fit the rest of the story, and I got in my head about whether I enjoyed the story as a whole.
So I took some time away from it and came back to reread the story without the epilogue. I felt much better about the story the second time around. This is simply my opinion on what I enjoyed, and there are and will be people who will love it in its entirety but for me the epilogue just didn't hit with the relationship I felt the characters had built. Perhaps I missed something in the story, or perhaps it just wasn't for me.
Either way, who wouldn't want a man to haunt your dreams and then claim you for all eternity 🖤
This book is great. Veryyyy detailed in the best ways 🥵 I adoreeee the 90s take on the sleep demons. It was so fun to read and helped me out of a reading slump.
“I forget sometimes that you do not know me the way I know you. I have seen you in every dream and have craved you between every sleep. I have waited my entire life to haunt you.”
It’s so incredibly sweet, dark, and hot. Highly recommend!
This book was wild but fun. I loved that it was set in the late 90s and all of the references to retro 90s lifestyle. The characters are named after 90s era cartoons which is awesome too. The story follows Bane and his quest to make Buffy his queen. Lots of smut, triggers, and interesting events! This was a fun one to read.
I ABSOLUTELY LOVED THIS BOOK SO MUCH!! I got this as an ARC!!! I loved all of the characters except for Sandman and Skeeter. In the beginning I didn’t like Bane but then I fell in love with him.
Let start with the time period. This book was so unapologetically the 90’s. The description of the fashion, the technology, and my favorite part the characters names, which were all based on characters we loved in the 90’s, such as Buffy and Mr. Feeny.
Mixing the time period with a sleep paralysis demon that is summoned from chain mail and you have yourself one heck of a plot! I can’t tell you how many times I would skip or delete those annoying chain mails but now I’m wondering where my own Bane is. 🥵🥵🥵🥵
I am not normally a huge paranormal dark romance but with the premise of this book I had to give it a shot. I’m glad I did. I will say what’s different is that the spicy scenes do drive the story. The author has a brilliant system of showing where spice starts by a picture of an open door and where it ends by picture of a closed door. Sadly for the novel some of these scenes have to be read in order to fully grasp what is happening. If you skip them you maybe able infer based on what’s happening.
This book does have an extensive list of trigger warnings. We love a good list. Be sure to check out the trigger warnings to make sure you won’t be bothered, honestly, for me the last trigger warning definitely made me think twice, IYKYK! 🤣
If you love a good “touch her and die” type of story then this for you!
I’m actually here to say I loved the plot more than the spice (this is uncommon for me as I’m unholier than most)
This was a quicker read, one sitting kinda book - definitely couldn’t just put it down. I had to keep reading it. I loved the side characters (HARVEYYYYY AND SLATER) and honestly I expected this to be darker but it was also pretty light (don’t get me wrong, it had its moments that made my jaw hit the floor going “nooo”) but it had a lighter tone which I enjoyed!
I think my favorite part about this book is that the author creates this wonderful plot and allows non-spicy readers to read it as well with the “double-door” concept, explained well in the beginning pages of the book! It basically means when you see a door on page, you can skip triggering sexual content without missing major plot points; however, because this book is a little bit more spice driven than the previous work, the author did skipping the doors may cause the readers to miss some aspects of the story. Regardless, I still think this is a great option to allow all readers to enjoy the story!
I appreciate the author and the publisher for sending me a copy of this ARC! I will be continuing to look into NANDER’s other works!
I mean I read it in a day so it couldn’t have be that bad - It was so out there that I just wanted to keep going. Definitely held my interest as it was so different than anything I’ve read. The 90s names were fun but pulled me from the story a bit as it was overdone and all I could picture were those people - which maybe was the point, so then the author did a great job. Being set in 1998 though was awesome. Brought back great memories. The book was just a lot and hard sometimes for me to understand how easily ppl jumped on board (but then again I have ADHD and always struggle with this so maybe don’t listen to me on that)- and this was from someone who experiences sleep paralysis. Okay - also it’s a fiction book and - okay fine - that is what made it fun. Also, I kept picturing the Sandman as the character from Are you Afraid of the Dark - voice and all - and it just made me chuckle. Overall, I gave it a 4, it kept my attention, and I liked the nostalgia - also it was a unique concept which I loved! Overall I say read it!
Damn!! This book was intense in the best possible ways!
I met the author at a book convention and she seemed reluctant to sell me the book, giving me many reminders that it was dark. xD I will say this is a book where reading the trigger warnings might be a good idea if anything like CNC is not your vibe.
I loved that the author had open and closed doors for when the spice was! Her spice is super hot though, so I don't know why that's where you would draw the line.
you know the book is good when it has the most unhinged/nasty (in the best way) content and it feels acceptable and erotic. It will be difficult to top this one.
the only thing I didn't enjoy was the other couple being such a focus when they were trying to deal with the villain. I loved that they found each other, but I was like you're kingdom is in peril!

For all the monster/paranormal romance fans out there,, 😉
This book was certainly a first of mine!! It was so entretaining and engaging, once I started reading I could not put it down!! Read it in a solid 24 hours. The 90s references were delightful and nostalgic. I absolutely loved the fact that the author included the open and closed door for the explicit scenes. I felt like that was such a considerate thing to add into the book, and it also helps it reach a broader audience!
Now, about the mmc,, Bane…the man that you are 🫣 Loved how we got to experience his desperation towards owning Buffy to the love and care he showed near the end.
However, I felt like the book could benefit from more world building and deeper exploration of the villain’s character and motivations, but overall? 4/5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
This is a wonderful take on paranormal romance, specifically with sleep demons.
I truly enjoyed the emotional rollercoaster that happens in this novel.mind you there are some DARK triggers, so be sure to read the content warnings and ensure you are comfortable with what you’re about to read.
Now, what happens when a sleep demon claims you as his fated? What happens when someone else curses you out of spite, and you guys need to break the curse in order to spend eternity together? I mean, obviously you need to read it to find out, but what I will tell you is that it is a VERY spicy ride 🤭
This book was wild from start to finish! This is definitely a dark romance so PLS read the trigger warnings and enter if you dare. I really enjoyed this book! The concepts were refreshing in regards of the sleep demons and the sandman (efffff him). Bane is the definition of feral for his woman and I was so here for it! The dom/sub vibes were written really well! Buffy was honestly mentally strong throughout everything that was thrown her way. I’m so happy they’ve gotten a happy ending! I am also needing more of Slater and Harvey, cause HELLLLLOOOO! Lol
Nander continues to blow my mind with how she writes. It always an honor to ARC read for her, that being said. This was such a good read, I loved exploring the lore of the demon realm. The world feels so vast in such a short amount of time and is just perfect. I fear with as f*cked as Bane is I’d still have to smash, give me all the demon love sir. The utilization of the open close door system as per Opals and A Nimbus is just such a great idea and I love Nander for it. The spice was just 🥵🥵 It is a dark book so be sure to read your triggers before diving in!
Wow..! Ok this book was so damn good! Nander I can’t believe this was your debut for a paranormal dark romance. Tysm for letting me arc read Chain Mail! It had me hooked from the beginning 😊 I absolutely loved it and was definitely a five star read for me. Holy cow the 90s nostalgia I loved it so much, it really took me back to the good ol’ days ❤️🥰 being a millennial this just hit all the feels. Bane & Buffy we’re everything I loved them together 🖤🖤 and the spice was so delicious 🥵🔥 also I love the door thing I definitely like that being included in a book. Brilliant 👏
This is dark and twisted and hella hot!! I'm all here for it!! The possessiveness... the spice... the twisted depravity... following the story of a sleep demon king who feeds from fear and the human FMC he falls in love with... this book has a lot of trigger warnings so please read these beforehand because I'm not joking when I say that it's dark and depraved!! If like me you use trigger warnings as a menu or don't bother with them at all them dive right in my friends and enjoy the ride!!
This was definitely not the usual story for this author. While in her first year of college, Buffy discovered that there's a unique individual who comes to visit her in her sleep. She just didn't expect it to be a sleep paralysis demon. This read was dark and very spicy. So make sure you mind your triggers. I did love the time period that this was set in and how many cultural references we get to my favorite time in my life. 10/10 would recommend if demons are your thing. 🤣🤦🏾♀️
(4.5 stars) I was lucky to receive this book as an ARC review and holy smokes, I was blown away with the twists and turns of this book. It is dark and romantic all in one, but don’t take the trigger warnings lightly, as there are heavy themes with this book. But overall I truly enjoyed this book and all the nostalgia from the 90’s. It was a fresh dynamic to read and I very much enjoyed it
Could not put this book down!’ One the spicy is spicy!! Also the nostalgia of my 90’s oh how this this book got me excited for my 90s also I love the romance between the demon and the human. Also, this book is crazy how it starts slow and then it gets darker highly recommend your trigger warnings but I have to say I enjoyed this book so much!!
This book was amazing, especially since he nickname her something special ❤️ 😅 I definitely loved the fact that Bane was loving her from afar! She, on the other hand, wasn't completely loving him yet until later on! But read this book to completely understand their relationship and the storyline ❤️❤️❤️🥵🥵🥵🥵💋 As always, read the trigger warnings ⚠️
This was your first dark romance???!!! THIS WAS SO INTENSELY GOOD OMMGG. At first, I was like ehh whatever, then it got to the smut and I was like HUH, ain't no way. There are some triggering parts. Also, if you don't want to read the spicy parts, the author lets you know when it'll start and when it'll end. Love that!
I think i need therapy....or Jesus with how much I liked this book 😆 wow! it was creepy, intriguing and sexual. I also loved how this author has doors that open and close where there are spicy scenes so if you aren't in the mood for spice or just not big on reading it you can pass over it if you want. but the scenes were so good, highly suggest not skipping them 👏
Smash or pass? SMASH SMASH SMASH! Bane is wild but I love him for it 😜 I always enjoy reading Nander's writing and this is just another hit ❤️ Have me questioning all my sleep paralysis 🤣🤣🤣
I ATE this book up! It was dark (check the triggers). It was a quick read. I loved the open door/closed door thing. Basically, if you want to pass the real smut, the open door is the start and then you go to the closed door picture to the end of the smut. I think that is a great thing to add to a dark romance book!
This love story between a sleepy girl and sleep paralysis demon was a wild ride! Let me start by saying I loveddd all the 90s references and throwbacks. It was a lot of fun reading and thinking “oh I know what that’s from!” I loved Buffy’s character and how down she was for everything that happened. I loved the protectiveness that Bane displayed toward Buffy and how he avenged any who wronged her. I also thought for being a quick read that the world building was done well and I liked the demon lore and found it very interesting. This book has dark themes and lots of triggers, but is definitely worth the read if you can handle it!
