“How did you know it was me?”
“Ye dinna think I ha’ every part of ye memorized by now?” (THE ACCENT??? AGGHH 👹 I'm so feral for Lachlan)

If you saw my review for book 1, you know it was a slow burn with no spice but lots of tension. but baby we were FED in this one!!🔥 We also get some fantastic training & battle scenes ⚔️

And the side characters!! I love them all so much. And I'm so sad it's over 🥺
@ja.townsend Can we get a Mina/Harald book? A novella?? Something. Anything 🧎‍♀️

Overall a fantastic duology!! It had me sweating, laughing, and crying 🤧 All the feels. Have I mentioned I'm sad it's over? I can't wait to see what J.A. writes next though!!

Wow that was fantastic. I’m kinda sad that it’s over, but what an ending!!

There’s so many things I enjoyed about this book, and so many things about this second book that make me appreciate the slower build up at the beginning of the first book. I will definitely be recommending this duology to everyone!

One of the things I loved about this series is how rich in history and culture it was. It’s clear the author did her research and put so much care and respect into each character and chapter. The way she describes the world building is vivid and so believable because she intertwines it all, the past and present, and different realms, so seamlessly.

Each character is written so well. I was grieving with them, cheering them on, crying happy tears for them through out this series. Even the characters I didn’t think I would like I ended up loving. The romance was so enjoyable to read. It was believable and fun and I loved that he was her biggest cheerleader but that they also kept each other grounded.

If you like fantasy, adventure, slow burn romance, AMAZING found family, a badass fmc—this is your next read!

Even on my second read through I sobbed during one specific chapter. It feels incredibly timely for today’s world and so beautifully heartfelt. And again, so rich in history that it truly felt to me like a love letter to women of the past and present.

A few of my favorite quotes (I don’t believe there are any spoilers but proceed with caution if you wanna go in completely blind?):

-“a lot of history is passed down in stories”
-“to revolutions”
-“a better world… what we’re still fighting for”
-“at the end of the day, at the end of our lives, the one thing that could ever possibly matter is the love we had”
-“whichever wolf you feed—wins”

Whoa was this book amazing! It was such a fast, easy read and Im disappointed it's over. I loved that Townsend brought in even more deities and even gave some history on the ones who might not be as famous or well known as the others.
The action in this book was practically non stop. I found myself frequently holding my breath or tensing my body as I read. The emotions were incredibly palpable as well in this book. I could feel as though I were actually there with the characters, feeling what they were feeling. There were quite a few times I almost cried from sadness or happiness. I loved that the characters became even more well rounded and fleshed out. I can't really think of one weak character of the main characters. I wanted to be friends with all of them. In fact, I saw quite a lot of myself and my friends in these characters as well as myself and my husband in Lena and Lachland.
I was glad it didn't end the way I feared it was going to end while reading the last chapter. I would have been quite upset if it had. I had a sneaking suspicion it wouldn't but with the twists in this series I wasn't totally sure.
I was grateful that while yes there were a couple sex scenes they were done tastefully and didn't become too graphic or include any more details/information than was necessary for the reader to understand the point.
I would highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys booking about vikings, incredibly tough main female characters, strong friendships/found family, true love, crazy fight scenes and non stop action.

This duology is a must!! I am usually more drawn to a thriller/suspense theme of book, but after reading The Valkyrie Covenant, I was absolutely hooked and couldn't wait to get my hands on book #2 to see how Lena's story panned out.

The slow-building romance I absolutely loved. I am sucker for a good love story line attached to it, but I deeply appreciate that this story wasn't just a story of romance. It was a story of courage, honor, strength, love, resilience, passion, and loyalty. JA Townsend has a way with words to bring a story to life!! I was blown away how each character was so meticulously thought out and how each of the characters strengths and weaknesses were portrayed. At times, it felt like I was reading about my friends and was cheering for their successes, and my heart broke during some of their shortcomings.

The whole time I was reading this, I kept thinking of how amazing it would be for this story to be adapted to a film some day because I would love to see all the architectures in the different realms be brought to life. Every scene was so descriptive, so much so, it tapped deeply into all five of my senses and made me feel like a fly on the wall, like I witnessed it in person.
**Spoiler alert: You may need tissues, the Haka scene got me good! *Cue the tears

Highly recommend it to all readers! You won't be disappointed.

10/10 this book duo is one of the best I have ever read!
I have just finished this book, and read it in a total of 4 hours.
Townsend truly has a way with words!!
The amount of detail that went into every single character, and the history is incredible, especially how the old myths from not just Norse mythology and Celtic regions, as well as several others.

I really enjoyed watching Lena become a badass queen that she was destined to be, and I loved seeing her and Lachlan’s relationship grow through so much hardship. It was definitely worth the wait!

I couldn’t put this book down, and definitely recommend reading both The Valkyrie Covenant and The Valkyrie Prophecy! Cannot wait to see what the author will do next!!

I was lucky enough to be an ARC reader (thanks girl!! 💗) and let me tell you, this was SUCH a rollercoaster. I felt every emotion!
I felt like the storyline was tied up perfectly and I wasn’t left with any questions.

J.A Townsend knows how to write a novel (especially since she’s a new author!) I was fully immersed in the plot, and it kept me flipping pages rapidly.

The research put forth into this novel didn’t go unnoticed! From Norse mythology, to the Battle of Culloden, it was rich in history.

Oh and the 🌶️??? Yes. Just yes.

10/10 recommend! ✨

I was blessed to receive an ARC of this book after falling in love with the first one.

I didn't think the world that was crafted could get better but it truly has. The attention to detail and intricately woven details of history and lore kept me turning pages. I found myself researching each and every new character that Lena met.

The badass female characters in this book pulled me out of my slump and brought me such joy.

I laughed, I cried(too much) and found myself wanting more. I'm sad this series is only two books because I could read about Lena and Lachlan forever.

Xx
