Gage

I've survived war, tragedy, and now, the end of the world.
Still, none of it could have ever prepared me for her.

Dr. Tayler Diaz.

She's gorgeous, smart, resourceful.
She's also the reason I'm still alive after an ambush I should have seen coming.

The problem?

Tayler doesn’t flinch.
At gore or at me.
And honestly, that terrifies me more than the chaos going on outside.

Because I don't believe in fate or softness.
Yet, in the middle of a crumbling world, Tayler is slowly becoming my purpose.

I can tell that we're both haunted by our pasts, as well as our failures, and that we're both fighting to protect something we never expected to find again. But in a world ruled by violence, love just might end up being the riskiest rebellion of them all.

Chaos Destiny is a standalone novel in an alternate Angels & Assassins universe, a post-apocalyptic BWWM romance featuring a former Australian special forces soldier, a brilliant doctor with a sharp aim, and a world in ruins. Every happily ever after in this series is hard-earned and satisfying.

Absolutely love this twist on the angels and assassins. As a big zombie apocalypse fan it’s really great the author put out AA’s in this new world. It’s going to be like rereading the AA series all over again but with new storylines

Angels & Assassins Back!!

I loved this!! K. Alex Walker took the world of her Angels & Assassins series and turned it upside down, dropping the characters into an post apocalyptic, dystopian alternate universe. 🤯 The audacity and creativity to come up with such an idea alone is worthy of 5 stars! Her Angels & Assassins series is one of my all-time favorites, so to experience these characters fall in love all over again in an action packed, alternate universe where they're fighting to survive zombies…🤌🏿*chefs kiss* It was shorter than I'm used to from K. Alex Walker, but I won't be greedy since this is my second helping of Gage and Tayler. This was a great intro to the new series and I cannot wait to read more. If you haven't already, check out The Wolf (book 1 of her Angel & Assassins series) where Gage and Tayler started it all. 😏

I definitely enjoyed it but it wasn’t anything “special”. just an alternate timeline. I will say though gage and Taylor chemistry felt different in this book. I can’t tell you if it’s good ir bad.. but it definitely felt different

Wonderful!

Having read all of the original Angels and Assassins series, I wasn’t sure what to expect of this dystopian version, but it was wonderful.

The characters are still strong and there’s background references to the original series which enhances this one without being distracting. Gage and Tayler were always my favorite pair and they still are. Some new colorful characters were added (Memphis and Dallas) but the core players of Gage, Tayler, Ari & Julien are primed to take the series forward.

The book ended rather abruptly but I can foresee the direction the series is going and I look forward to more.

Received an ARC for this novel!

The twist of my favorite characters from Angels & Assassins retold into a dystopian universe?? Sign me up! I loved reading this book of Gage & Taylor and Julien & Ari. Seeing their characters build in a different setting but still feeling the essence of who they are from reading the main series was so nice. I really hope we continue to see the story build on from this moment. I'm curious on how K. Alex will build the universe once the rest of the gang comes in. I also wonder if Allen will cause more trouble. Will the zombie apocalypse continue in Dez and Larke's story?? Will we find out more of Julien and his time away from Ari?? Will Gage and Tayler continue to get close as they navigate this new relationship?? And will my men eventually reunite as one again?? Can't wait to find out!

2.00 Stars. (BW/WM). Kindle Unlimited Edition 162 page novella e-book.

Setting: Apocalyptic earth.

Trope: World wide contagion turning humans into zombies.

Characters:
1. Dr. Tayler Diaz, heroine, is a medical doctor and a PHD., doctor of philosophy.
2. Gage Wolfe, hero, is a former Australian Special Forces Soldier living in USA as a civilian.
3. Julien Hunter is a doctor at the CDC, Center of Disease Control and Prevention
4. Ari and Thandie Hunter are respectively Julien's wife and daughter.
5. Allen and Tayler use each other as sexual release buddies.

This story was reminiscent of the Walking Dead; but Tayler and Gage are no Rick and Michonne. There's a lot distracting or overshadowing the romance between Gage and Tayler. A large part of this story has Gage portraying himself as the husband of Ari and as Thandie's father. The later third of the story, spends as much if not more time with Julien finding the group and reuniting with Ari and his daughter as it does with Gage and Tayler kissing or having sex but virtually no time is dedicated any romantic interaction between gage and Tayler.

Started out promising but quickly spiraled into tragic writing.

The first few chapters where we see Taylor (FMC) in boss-lady mode at the CDC, and Gage (MMC) being an amazing brother/uncle in the hospital, all the way up to Taylor saving Gage and the baby during the fire/storm, I felt that, though it was not spectacularly written, the story itself was pretty satisfying. But then chapter 8 hits and from there to the end (chapter 18) it all just becomes a big unstructured mess that made me feel like I was reading the first, lightly edited/revised draft that was never meant for publication but somehow snuck its way out there anyway.

Some of my biggest annoyances were:

1.) The author displayed a poor ability to build up to key moments in the story.
2.) She wrote nonsensical scenes, for example, an unrequited love interest checking for bites on one of the side characters DAYS after it was confirmed, by the FMC and other medical professionals, that she had no bite. What made this particularly annoying, is that this clearly was done so that the author could plug in an antagonist to fight with the MMC because up until that point, there was no set antagonist outside of the infected. She also needed a reason to help us dislike the unrequited love interest who was also the leader of the camp and the FMC's "boyfriend" whom she never slept with because she was only using him for "hugs" and "power".
3.) This is the worst of all, the author dedicated the last third or so of the book to being just one great big lust fest for 95% of the characters. Between a random side character showing off her nipples to the MMC whenever she could, to the male twins rambling about their sexual escapades with women (that they often share at the same time because they're "tag teamers" and proud of it), to a new side character who wants to sleep with said twins when they proposition her on their first meeting. The author just stuck erotic thoughts, actions, and ramblings into the story in what feels like an attempt to try and check off the box for the spice factor in romance books.

Honestly, I'm still so confused and dissatisfied with what I read from chapters 8-18 that I'm glad I used Amazon points to acquire this book. The book itself was only $0.99, but I would have been upset at the near dollar I lost.

Absolutely Marvelous

This is so Fantastic! I really enjoyed this story, the characters are awesome with sizzling chemistry. Which is so captivating and the couples are so intuitive of each other that you keep turning pages. The women are independent but lovable and men makes you want to melt. What a powerful combination for a heartfelt romance. This is story will give you a pleasurable experience which I know that you will definitely enjoy I totally devoured every moment of this story. K Alex knocked this one was out of the park in the mix of humor and the world being in chaos. But I do have one warning and that's the this story has a cliffhanger but in whole it's so enjoyable and captivating that you can overcome this. Plus the emotional and drama is so amazing. Also I want to say that when I finished reading the last page I still wanted more! This story will have you so absorbed from the beginning to the end. I had such a delightful time reading that the time just flew by. K. Alex stories are always so compelling that you will want to read them more than once. This story has a few love affairs that gives you that happy feeling although the couples relationships are not all smooth sailing it's still so entertaining. I hope as you read this you will enjoy it as much as I did it will make you excited to read the next story. Happy Reading!!

My introduction to K. Alex Walker occurred when I read Angels & Assassins (The Wolf) the first entry in her Angels & Assassins series. I was extremely excited to learn that she planned to revisit these characters with a rewrite of their backstory and circumstances. Tayler Diaz is still a dedicated doctor, and Gage Wolfe is still a man with “a very particular set of skills”. Their worlds collide when they meet in the middle of a pandemic of apocalyptic proportions. Ms. Walker has taken two of my favorite characters and upped the ante on their chances of survival in a world gone mad. On the outside looking in, they both appear to be with other “partners”; however, even with these optics their hearts recognized that they belong together. The secondary characters are funny and intriguing, especially the twins! In addition, it was amazing to catch up with other people from the Angels & Assassins universe. I am eager to see what happens moving forward!

Survival of the fittest! This book depicted post-apocalyptical survivors trying to get through one day after a deadly epidemic. It was giving Covid on steroids, and I have to be honest and say it’s good. Considering the actual trope spice level was 2/5 but the premise of the book was intriguing and made you want to read more.

Taylor had a heart of gold and always looked out for others, and it was nice to see the pov of everyone else even though that’s something that would normally irritate me. Didn’t know what to expect initially and I’m happy I read the book because it was literally a quick read. Just didn’t give a full star review because the book ended very abruptly and ion like that.

Great start to this new series

Wow!! I really enjoyed this post apocalyptic novel!! Talk about action and suspense!! This story had me at the edge of my seat!! Having read the Angel and Assassins series I was confused as to why Ms. Walker chose to place these characters in an apocalyptic world!! But that is just it!! Placing such strong, memorable and determined and powerful characters in an alternate world and see how they would fare, gives the reader an opportunity to encounter these characters again. Meeting Taylor still a doctor and Gage still a resourceful soldier and putting them in another plane, allows us to enjoy again these two wonderful characters and appreciate their resourcefulness.

I thought it was a good book. Much better than most books in the romance genre. It was more adventure/drama than romance, even though it followed the romance beats. It had very good character development, and I actually cared for the characters, unlike a lot of romance. It is obviously set up to be a series, since there's a lot of unfinished business. I hope the writer continues the series. This is my first book I've read from this author, and upon finishing the book I immediately started to search out more of her titles.

I am disappointed, though, that the author doesn't have much to offer on other e-book services, such as Kobo and B&N.

I was skeptical at first, wondered how this would work out. This is a grrat mix of action and drama and heat that finds balance. Taylor is a scientist working to try and stop the reanimated dead. Gage is former special services. They meet at what could very well be the end of the world and maybe should but not without a fight. You might know Taylor and Gage from Angel's and Assassins but you don't know this version.

A GOOD STORY BUT-NEEDS LONGER STORY LINE

The book is very good. I love the plot. I’m cheering for the characters, but I wish character description needs more detail. I love post apocalyptic interracial books. I hate cliffhanger not unless next book is out now we will have to wait until she finished writing the book. I cannot wait for the next book so I can find out what happened to all the characters in the book.

Heavy

Man, this "alternative universe" is heavy. So, heavy because it's almost like we're on the brink of. But to know our guys, still find each other in the most trying of circumstances, does my heart good. Each though the characters are familiar, this new world gives a fresh spin on their story. I look forward to reading how everyone comes together. Again, for short read, it's top tier story telling at it's finest

Destined

I am a huge fan of K. Alex Walker her Angels and Assassin series has been beyond everything.
I was confused when I saw the post- apocalyptic version of Taylor and Gage and how even in this alternative universe the pull is just as powerful for these two. I enjoyed this new storytelling of Angels and Assassins. I hope to see some of the other characters in this new universe.

This was a cute novella about two people finding each other at the end of the world. If you’ve read the original Angels and Assassins series you know that Gage would have made his mark asap. Tayler does her thing as the very knowledgeable Doctor who doesn’t realize a whirlwind her encounter with Gage will be. It was great to see them interact and I thoroughly enjoyed reading about them again.

Gage

What a great book. K. Alex really " stepped her foot" in this book. I can't wait for more. I was so engrossed with the book that I was shocked when it ended. I hope we get more soon. 5- Stars. It can be read as a stand-alone, however I recommend All of her previous books to get to know the characters mentioned

A different kind of romance

A love story during a zombie apocalypse?! Yes please! I had previously read Tayler and Gages story but this version is definitely just as good. There isn’t alot of heat in this version but the build up is amazing! The heated looks, the prolonged stares, the “accidental” touches are just as hot as the actual act itself. I am ready for more!!!

Various perspectives

I did enjoy this first book of a series. It (like the excellently written show that spanned years) didn't focus on the undead, but the relationships and histories of the characters introduced. That was interesting and laid the groundwork for future stories. I appreciated hearing the story from the perspectives of the characters.

Not complete

3.8/5- I feel like this book was just wasn’t finished. I feel like it wasn’t an entire story and of itself and usually with books that have multiple parts. There’s part one of the story part two but this one completely just didn’t feel finished. I like that it felt very movie like and just super exciting but yeah, will be reading the next book.

2.75 ⭐️ This was okay! nothing really …. Happened honestly? And it ended with a cliff hanger, which I don’t prefer especially when I don’t have the urge to read the next book. I did love Gage, and his relationship with Ari and the baby. I wish there were more about the twins, Memphis and Dallas, they were so fun lol. Struggled to connect with any other characters.

This was a quick read, but as always I love reading this author's work. I loved seeing how Gage and Tayler came despite the anarchy that was the world they were now living in. Sort of like our world right now, metaphorically of course.

Great Read

I was a little apprehensive about this story but I love everything written by K Alex Walker and the Angels and Assassins original series. I’m excited to read what is next in this series. I’m also looking forward to learning more about Memphis and Dallas.

Unexpected Surprise

This book has everything that I enjoy reading horror, suspense, and love. The love that Gage has for Ari, Thandie, and even Julian is unbreakable. When he met Tayler, he knew she was the one. Their attraction to each other was explosive.
I need more!

Keep them coming!

It’s been a while since I’ve read a new post-apocalyptic romance. Already got the preview at the end of the book for the next installment with different characters, same special ops team and an infectious outbreaks that feels like Zombies. Yay!!!

Beyond Expectations

I love a dystopian romance, but rarely is it done well. This had everything I wanted in it. Big fan of Gage and Tayler, their romance and their passions and morals outside of each other. A banger!
