Un roman noir percutant, rythmé par les accords du rock et les échos de la grève. Franchement allez le lire il est bien.

happy new yearrrrrr ❤️❤️❤️ okay for my first book of 2026 i’ve chosen a french one and this one in particular seems very interesting.
the very beginning starts with a bang, hitting you like a blast and sets a preview of what will happen.
also it’s gay af THANK GOD and i love the huge presence of rock music, it’s not just a simple mention it’s a real fondamental part of the novel.
the flashbacks are a good opportunity to find out more about joan’s character and what led her to her life choices, basically she’s a mess, her love life’s a mess and her family’s a mess, i love it.
sabri’s story completely broke my heart, he didn’t deserve what happened to him :( joan’s family is also a prime example of the struggles of the working class and the unfair differences with the upper class.
we can also clearly see the brutality, corruption and racism of the police’s institution, which doesn’t surprised me at all.
the part when selma starts to hang out with paris’ elite really shows the difference of privilege between social classes and it’s a reminder to never forget where you come from, even if you’re successful.
angela’s backstory prior to her suicide attempt is tragic and mohammed is an unsung hero.
it was a good story, enjoyed it despite moments where i felt like it was cliché and the end felt super rushed to me.
