When cat-astrophe strikes, Minnie and her trusty rescue cat, Eddie, will have to read between the lines to solve a murder in the newest Bookmobile Cat Mysteries.

The Chilson library bookmobile has a new stop on its route: Honey Hollow Adult Foster Care. When Minnie learns that Honey Hollow is just down the road from an enclave of gorgeous Victorian homes, she decides she has to take a look, especially after she learns about identical houses that stood side by side, and were owned by twin siblings. But when Minnie and Eddie and the bookmobile take their scenic detour, Eddie uncharacteristically escapes from the bookmobile - and finds a woman in the woods, horribly wounded with an arrow.

Though Minnie desperately calls 9-1-1, all too soon she realizes she was too late. The police seem ready to call the death a hunting accident, but Minnie can’t shake the feeling that foul play was involved, particularly given the woman’s final whispered words. With evidence lacking, Minnie and Eddie will have to claw their way through a thicket of suspects to find the truth.

The main characters, Minnie, Eddie and Rafe feel like old friends to me. This series is a comfort and intriguing read for me. Another series I will reread. There were intense moments as the killer tried to kill Minnie. I always enjoy how the story ends and feel quite fulfilled. Eddie, the cat adds so much laughter and charm to the story. Highly recommend.

I was blessed with an ARC. Thank you NetGalley. The opinions expressed are my own and unbiased.

This is the first that I’ve read in this series. I enjoy the characters and the cat. The mystery was good. I kind of figured out who had done it early on, but I still liked it. I don’t like how she changed her last name in this day and age when she got married, and she kept talking about it over and over !! I do feel like the book was a little longer than it needed to be.

The thirteenth installment in A Bookmobile Cat Mystery series has charm, humor, and a good mystery that reader’s have come to expect from Author Laurie Cass. Newlywed protagonist, Minnie, and husband, Rafe, are planning their honeymoon, but can’t decide where to go. A librarian assistant, who drives the Bookmobile, Minnie is caught up in a mystery involving the death of an orthopedic surgeon.

The story moved slowly to me, and I felt the dialogue overshadowed the murder mystery. However, this is a long-running series for book lovers and fans of Bookmobiles, and is sure to please many readers.

I honestly reviewed an unedited arc provided by NetGalley and Berkley Publishing. All opinions are my own.

Another solid installment in one of my favorite cozy series. I love this series because I love the cast of characters, along with well plotted mysteries and, of course Eddie! The mystery of this one was well done, and I love the development in the lives of the characters that I’ve come to care about during the length of the series. Great read!

"Book 'Em, Eddie (Bookmobile Cat Mystery #13)" by Laurie Cass has actually let me down a bit. It didn't live up to my expectations for this series. This has been one of my favorite cozy mystery series, especially the narrator for the audiobooks and Eddie. However, Eddie wasn't even up to his usual level in this one. Plus, a good chunk of the book seemed to be reintroducing everything. Kinda like the "previously on" you get when a tv series has been on hiatus for a while and is coming back after a cliffhanger, but there was no cliffhanger.

That leads me to some minor continuity details that would pop up. It's a little like the author was confusing real world time and book world time. For example, there's mention of things like Eddie having not run off a years when he does it in every book at least once. Sometimes twice. So it would have been last book which took place only a few months prior to this one. Not years.

The mystery part was a bit interesting. We get the baffling last words of the victim that made you think a little bit. There were some good suspects as well. However, Minnie is just becoming a ditz and getting into horror movie too stupid to live girl category. I kinda hate that for her. She's supposed to be assistant director of the local library and could have been director. Her constant uninformed thought processes and blatant disregard of police requests back with solid explanations is just too much now. She did in fact put herself in a dangerous situation she had no business in at the end just to have a catch the killer moment. Then she gets offended when the detective calls her out on it and no one backs him up on how accurate his calling her out was.

To be honest, I think I'm done with this series. Maybe if I hadn't read the previous books I would've liked this one better. As is, post marriage Minnie (Bride Minnie too, previous books to this one), are not for me.

The bookmobile has added an adult foster care facility to its route, and Minnie decides to explore while in the area. When Eddie escapes, he and Minnie find a woman in the woods who has been badly injured. Despite receiving medical care, she dies, and the police are ready to call the death an accident. Minnie is not convinced that’s the case, and sets out to find out what really happened.

This is one of my favorite series, and Eddie is one of my favorite book pets. I have fond memories of visits to the bookmobile with Mom when I was young. This series always brings back those memories, which are even more dear now that Mom has passed. I like Minnie and the people she has around her – her family, friends, co-workers and even her boss are all supportive of her curiosity and persistence. And I like the possibility of adding new characters from the foster care facility.

We didn’t know anything at all about the victim at first – not even her name! – but that was resolved fairly quickly. There weren’t many suspects to begin with, but as the investigation continued and more information uncovered, several names were added to the list. I thought I knew who the killer was, until it became obvious in the book that I was wrong, but the identity of the actual culprit wasn’t really a surprise.

I can’t wait to return to Michigan to learn what bookmobile adventures are ahead for Minnie and Eddie!

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read and review this book.

While I enjoy this series, Minnie is getting a little too noisy. I know that's the point of cozy mysteries, but she's turning into one of the annoying main characters. She thinks she knows better than the police and expects them to share information with her. That's not realistic. I'm not sure if I'll continue this series, which is sad, since I really did enjoy the earlier books.

In this latest instalment of the bookmobile mysteries, Minnie the newlywed librarian and her rescue cat Eddie happen upon a woman shot in the chest with a bow and arrow on their bookmobile route. The woman, who turns out to be a local surgeon, spoke her last word "behind the bookcase" to Minnie, leaving her determined to give her justice. Through the book we follow Minnie investigating suspects since the local police seem to think it an accident. Will Minnie solve this mystery?

I love Laurie Cass's writing! This was another cozy and easy to follow mystery full of chaotic cat moments, devious locals, and lots of books. Always a joy to cozy up with and have a mug of tea!

Thank you to NetGalley for the advance copy of this title. In the latest installment, Minnie learns some interesting information at the retirement home. This leads her down a rabbit hole investigating a pair of twin Victorian houses on a lake. The usual hijinks ensue. Another cute extension of Minnie's adventures.

It was almost like coming home, to visit newlyweds Minnie and Rafe, and Eddie, Minnie’s bookmobile cat who has stolen many readers’ hearts. This mystery checks all the boxes for a top 2025 favorite! The setting is beautiful and chilly late autumn in northern lower Michigan.

Minnie has the “best job in the whole world” as the assistant director at the Chilson Library, which includes the pleasure of driving the bookmobile to outlying areas of Tonadagana County. Eddie is well known throughout Tonadagana County as the library cat. He is so loved by the children – and adults – that he is always on the bookmobile.

Minnie and Julia, her Tony-award-winning clerk, visited a new stop on their route, Honey Hollow Adult Foster Care. Eddie was the star and loved the residents! They helped people select and borrow books. Before they left, Julia put on her storytelling cape to entertain the residents. Minnie chatted with a resident, Alice, who had once been a housekeeper for many of the wealthy of Chilson and in the elegant Victorian homes of nearby Gainsborough.

Alice told her fascinating tales and secrets of the homes in Gainsborough, including the smuggling that once took place. I immensely enjoyed those snippets of history! There were twin Victorians there, each originally owned by a brother and sister, then some of their descendants, until both homes were sold outside the family. Many homes were owned or leased by summer people, who already left with the changing seasons.

Minnie took a side trip to see the homes in Gainsborough, including the twin Victorians. She parked the bookmobile so she could walk and see the homes while Julia stayed inside with Eddie. When Minnie heard Julia yell for Eddie, she joined the chase. He escaped and was howling, an eerie, unusual sound. She found Eddie, sitting at the feet of a woman lying on the ground in a ravine. An arrow was protruding from her abdomen, and she was barely clinging to life. Minnie stayed with her until the EMT’s left with her. Before they arrived, the woman tried to tell Minnie about something “behind the books”.

Unfortunately, the lady, Dr. Paige Ferrer died, despite the extensive surgery performed. Minnie was sorrowful, regretting there was nothing she could have done to save her. Surprisingly, she chose to let the police do their job. At least, until Hal, the older detective, determined that Paige was shot accidentally, perhaps by a hunter who didn’t notice her dark clothing.

Minnie was extremely upset at their conclusion. In the days following her death, Minnie heard so many good things about Paige that she wanted justice for her. There were only rumors of a couple complaints about the late surgeon.

Minnie was determined to find the doctor’s killer, and when the Victorian was put up for sale, the realtor allowed her to go inside. Paige had used her waning strength and breath to tell her about something behind the books, and Minnie was going to find what was so important to her.

Each of the characters are defined beautifully through their lifestyles, reactions, and conversations. There are several that I enjoy, but I would love to spend a day or ten with Minnie and Eddie. As newlyweds, there were endearing moments when Minnie attempted to think of how “cute” some of Rafe’s little habits were rather than get annoyed. I admired Aunt Frances’s new business, and how close she and her husband, Otto, were.

There were so many delightful things about this novel! Aunt Frances had married Otto a while ago after many years of being a widow, and they shared a happy life together. I love Eddie; he is one of my favorite cozy mystery cats. He sometimes has a special sense, such as when finding Paige, yet other times he is all cat with a ‘tude. Rafe and Minnie are so good for each other, and his easy-going personality is the envy of many wives. As the principal of a middle school, he is appreciated by both teachers and students. I especially enjoyed the new, fun, project for the bookmobile!

Minnie did her research well, and talked with many people to learn more about Paige and about the complaints. The capture of the killer was due, in part, to one significant little tidbit shared by someone at the Adult Foster Care facility, and in part, to Nancy Drew. I highly recommend this cozy mystery and one of my favorite series!

Galley and Berkley Publishing for the chance to read this in exchange for my honest reIt is always fun to visit with Minnie and Eddie the Bookmobile cat. In this adventure, Minnie and Julia are checking out a new area for the bookmobile to visit and of course Eddie takes off and in Minnie's efforts to find him, she stumbles across a woman who has been shot with an arrow.. Her dying words are "look behind the books". Minnie, with the assistance of Julia, new hubby Rafe and a host of others sets out to find justice for the victim., much to the dismay of Detective Hal Inwood.
This is the 13th entry in this series and the characters are just as much fun to hang out with as ever, Minnie and Rafe are newlyweds who are trying to figure out where to go on their honeymoon. I did find Rafe's attempts to hang a wifely nickname on Minnie a bit tiresome after awhile, but they have a sweet vibe that overall I enjoy. The plot moved along at a good pace with Minnie meeting each suspect and trying to eliminate them, even though the police have already gotten alibis for several of them. All in all this was a fun trip to Chilson, Michigan and I look forward to the next trip!
My thanks to NetGalley and Berkley Publishing for the chance to read an advance copy of this in exchange for my honest review.

Book ‘Em, Eddie by Laurie Cass takes us back to Chilson where a married Minnie and her feline sidekick, Eddie are ready to take the bookmobile to Honey Hollow Adult Foster Care. I was disappointed with Book ‘Em, Eddie. The author reintroduced every character (a list of characters along with their background at the beginning would have sufficed). Did she think we forgot who they were since the last book? There were continuity details as well. A good example is we are told that Eddie has not escaped (or run off) in years, but we know that is not true. He does it at least once or twice in each book (we have come to expect it). Minnie’s internal monologue and thought processes make up much of the book. The long-winded descriptions of places the bookmobile visited and their route as well as activities felt like filler (I admit to skimming through these sections). There were repetitive details and the pacing was languid. The mystery had some interesting aspects. The victims’ last words made me curious as to their meaning. Minnie, though, was off her game. She seemed to be suffering from too stupid to live syndrome. Most of the sleuthing was conducted online. Minnie expected the police to share information from an active investigation with her plus she thought she was better than the detectives. Minnie unnecessarily risked her safety to catch the culprit, then took offense when the detective pointed it out. In this story, I missed the banter between the characters and active investigating of the crime. Book ‘Em, Eddie is the thirteenth A Cat Bookmobile Mystery and it can be read as a standalone for those new to the series. Book ‘Em, Eddie is a lackluster tale, and it left me feeling unsatisfied.

I’ve really enjoyed the Bookmobile Cat Mysteries series, and it’s always a pleasure to hop back on the bookmobile with Minnie and her clever cat, Eddie. In this installment, Minnie uncovers some intriguing local history, which leads her to investigate a curious old house. But what she finds there turns out to be more than just a history lesson.

While I’ve loved all the books in the series, I have to admit this one felt like a bit of a letdown. The initial mystery was engaging as usual, but I missed the vibrant interactions with other characters that the earlier books offered. The investigation this time was mostly conducted online, and there wasn't as much active sleuthing or tension.

Much of the book focused on Minnie’s internal monologue and her thought process, which began to feel repetitive. I also found there was too much filler—lengthy descriptions of settings or activities that didn’t move the plot forward. In fact, I caught myself skimming several overly descriptive sections out of boredom.

Overall, it’s still a decent read and a nice addition to the series for longtime fans. But I hope the next book brings back more character dynamics and a livelier investigation.

Thanks to net galley for this arc in exchange for an honest review.

Book 'Em, Eddie is the 13th book in the Bookmobile Cat series. I still love Eddie just as much as I did when I first started reading this series!

Mrrrrr! :)

This time, Librarian Minnie and her popular sidekick, Eddie are out in the Bookmobile. Minnie decides to take a quick detour to look at some homes. Eddie has plans of his own and escapes the Bookmobile, only to discover a woman in the woods with horrific injuries. Minnie and Eddie are once again on the case. Minnie firmly believes this was foul play and not a hunting accident.

I enjoyed this book. I totally binge read the entire book in one day. This is one of my favorite cozy mystery series, so I always clear my schedule and just have an afternoon with Eddie. :)

I can't imagine walking into the woods and finding a badly injured person like that! Yikes! The plot kept my attention from start to finish. The story was well-paced, and there was plenty of suspects and amateur sleuthing.

As usual, I thought I had the killer figured out and was completely wrong. I'm glad I'm not a detective!

I can't wait for the next book in this series!

Once again, the world of Minnie and Eddie does not disappoint. This time, married to Rafe, Minnie was having a normal day. While going just a tad off road to a location she had not been to before in the bookmobile, she came across a lady that had been shot with an arrow. She quickly summoned help, but sadly the lady did not survive. Dr Paige Ferrer was an owner of one of the homes in Gainsborough but embroiled in a disagreement with several of her neighbors, since she was renting out the home part time. The last words Paige said to Minnie was the reasons she kept pursuing the case, "behind the books". In addition to the disagreement Paige had with a couple of neighbors, another couple was working on a malpractice suit.
The story developed in bits and pieces until the very end when it all came together. Of course, the ending was a bit hair raising with Minnie being in danger locked in a secret room, but able to figure out how to get out and with one of the neighbors assisting in her safety.

I've read every single book in this series and this new addition doesn't disappoint. I think Laurie Cass does the absolute best job of any cozy mystery writer I read describing the feline persona. As I've said, every book is good, but this one seems to go even to a higher scale in describing the relationship between Minne and Eddie.

I read cozy mysteries for the light hearted mystery, easy reading and non violence. An added bonus is when there are animals in the story. Minnie talks to Eddie constantly, as do most of us who live with animals, but the descriptions about what Eddie is supposedly thinking or doing are hysterical. This book, of all the others, was the absolute funniest and had me laughing outright at Eddie's antics. It leaves one wondering if the book is about Minnie solving a mystery or about the relationship between the woman and her cat.

Either way, I adore this series and this book in particular!! Keep 'em coming, Ms. Cass!

Always love coming back to Minnie and Eddie the bookmobile cat. This time, Eddie’s wandering leads Minnie to a shocking discovery, a woman shot with an arrow whose last words send her chasing down clues with Julia, Rafe, and the usual crew, much to Detective Inwood’s dismay.

The mystery moves quickly, the small town vibes are cozy as ever, and Minnie and Rafe’s newlywed dynamic adds a sweet touch (even if his constant nicknames made me roll my eyes a bit). Overall, a fun and familiar trip. Already excited for the next one.

Book 'Em, Eddie is book #13 in the Bookmobile Cat Mystery series by Laurie Cass.

I enjoy this series. I have wonderful memories of the bookmobile coming by when I was younger. I enjoy the mystery and this one was challenging since they didn’t even know who the victim was at first. My favorite part of this series is the characters and seeing how they’ve grown and developed throughout the course of the series. And Eddie - he’s the star of the book. I love the conversations Minnie has with Eddie because I have similar ones with my cats, but not about murder.

Thank you to the author, Berkley, and NetGalley for the Advanced Reader Copy (ARC) copy of this book and I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.

Minnie, Julia, and Eddie leave a new bookmobile stop and check out a nearby neighborhood that's been around since the late 1800s. While there Eddie escapes the bookmobile and leads Minnie on a chase to where a local doctor has been shot with an arrow. After learning that the woman died on the way to the hospital, Minnie feels compelled to seek out answers to the woman's death.
This has been a favorite series of mine since book 1. I love Minnie's relationships with Aunt Frances, Kristen, and of course Rafe. I also love her "conversations" with Eddie! Thank you Berkley and NetGalley for the ARC.

I've been reading this mystery since the beginning and Minnie and Eddie are sort of friend I catch up reading their adventure.
This is a fun story that features a dying doctor discovered by Minnie, the beginning of her married life, and life on bookmobile.
It's a solid story and a well plotted mystery. It's not a favourite because I found it a bit slow at time and darker as Minnie seems obsessed with the murder.
Even if it's not a favourite I enjoyed it but it's recommended if you read the other books in the series.

Excellent addition to a fun series. This time it takes quite a while to puzzle out why the orthopedic surgeon in a small town was murdered, why it was death by arrow, and what in the world her last words had reference to! Eddie the bookmobile cat just won't tell the answers, so we have to muddle along with Minnie the amateur sleuth.

As a past driver of a bookmobile and major cat lover, a title in this series is always the highlight of the year. This one was off for me and not the best of the series for sure. Rafe's constant weird nicknames and their inability to make decisions grated on my nerves. Minne makes a hugely poor decision that for me even pushed the cozy mystery bounds. On the plus side, new readers to the series could start with this book and not feel they had to catch anything up. On the practical side, what does Eddie do for bathroom breaks while on the bookmobile all day? Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for an eArc in exchange for a review.

Another great story in the Bookmobile Cat Mystery series, a favorite. Eddie runs from the bookmobile
with Minnie and her assistant Julia in pursuit. They find Eddie in the woods and he has discovered a woman shot with an arrow and struggling to stay alive. She whispers: "Behind the bookcase." But who is she and what does this all mean? The police think its a hunting accident, but Minnie is sure there is more to it. I liked the story so much except for at the end when I thought Minnie foolishly put herself in too much danger to catch the killer. However, I still look forward to the next installment!

Minnie, Rafe and Eddie are settling into married life. Minnie takes a little side trip with the book mobile and discovers a woman shot with an arrow, whose last words are "behind the bookcase". This leads her on a chase to find justice for victim. I liked that Rafe played a bigger role in helping to solve the mystery. There were some risks taken that seemed out of character for Minnie but overall I enjoyed the book and it's story. I'm hoping the characters evolve more as their lives continue with new adventures.

You'd think after 13 books of murder solving, Minnie would know not to blow off all warning and waltz off on her own to catch a killer, especially since now she's married Rafe and I think he'd be open to criminal hunting with her. But nope. Not a fan of that since it happens in every book. But I dearly love Eddie and will tolerate his human for his sake.

(Also, the killer only wanted to destroy records. They could have set fire to the whole place any time they damned well pleased considering they knew the records were in the house.)

I think Minnie must have been substituted for a clone, because she is a ditz in this book. She's given a deathbed clue, but doesn't act on it. While looking for potential murder suspects, she suddenly doesn't know how to do basic research, and the simplest of information goes over her head. When she finally does go in search of the clue it's out of hubris and impatience. Meanwhile, the murderer is also a procrastinator. And while he/she knows where the evidence is, he/she just happens to put off looking for it until Minnie coincidentally decides to go looking for it as well.

I have read all of the Bookmobile mysteries. It’s fun to see Minnie’s progression through her life and job. She and Rafe are very enjoyable and easy to relate to. This mystery was really a mystery up until the very end. Many times I can make a guess but this wasn’t one of them. It was very interesting to find out who the murderer was and the reasons why.
I look forward to the next book in this series. I received an ARC copy from NetGalley.
