We also know there are known unknowns; that is to say we know there are some things we do not know. But there are also unknown unknowns—the ones we don't know we don't know. cognitohazard (neurology, chiefly science fiction) - A sensory signal (such as an imageor sound) that directly causes harmful or undesired physiologicaleffects to one who senses or perceives it. Coordinate terms: infohazard, memetic hazard The symbol on that piece of paper is a cognitohazard which puts everyone who reads it in a week-long coma. memetic hazard
infohazard (information hazard) is true information that poses a risk of harm, either to the person who knows it or to others, if it spreads, ranging from catastrophic (like weapon blueprints) to more subtle dangers (like specific psychological triggers). Coined by philosopher Nick Bostrom, it challenges the idea that all information should be free by highlighting knowledge that can be exploited or inherently dangerous, with examples like nuclear codes, extremist ideologies, or even fictional concepts like Roko's Basilisk.
