Thank you to Flying Eye Books for the complimentary copy!

I think this should have possibly been named Lion Heart but I could let that slide. Bear is the main character and when he lets a lion (aka love) into his heart, he feels better than he ever has before.

It's a great book about how to hold love and how to give love and the illustrations are just as beautiful as that takeaway. ❤️

Thank you to Flying Eye Books for the free copy of this book! All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Bear Heart was an adorable picture book read with beautiful illustrations. Hoang Giang really did amazing work on this project. I will say that I think this book was more focused on the bear's relationship with a lion, rather than all the things the bear loved which I thought felt a little out of step with the title. However, I think that the journey that the bear goes on in this book was beautiful to witness and I thought the story was lovely.

Overall, I found this to be a quick and enjoyable read! This is definitely a great one for parents of young children and I think that the illustrations within it were particularly captivating and this will also hold true for young children viewing it.

The illustrations are beautiful and very sweet, the story on the other hand just left me wanting. It felt too short, there wasn’t much going on that pulled me in! I know some picture books are meant to be simple but this was also a little vague throughout which wasn’t fun.

That’s not to say that it wouldn’t be different for the kids that read it but I personally didn’t get along with it and am not sure if children will be that engaged with the style of storytelling.

This review is also based on the proof I was sent and not the finished book, so I don’t know if they changed much in the final edit!

Beautiful pictures accompany an unusual story that didn't feel allegorical or representative, but instead just confused and poetic for the sake of poetry. My kid and I were blinking at the end... like, what happened?
