This was a helpful collection of essays that provided me with more insight into the purpose of seminary and why the different core classes I’ll have to take are worthwhile. While I enjoyed reading this in my first semester of seminary, I think it could have been even more valuable while in the process of discerning if I should or should not attend seminary.

Great book to remind us why seminary is good for the mission of God and loving people, not just theology and knowledge.

I enjoyed this book. Most of the chapters were very helpful and insightful. Lots of practical nuggets to glean! I think this would be helpful even for someone not considering seminary, as many of the chapters encourage going deeper into the topics they discuss. For example, the Christian ethics chapter explains what it is, and why it matters, and one could use that chapter as a launching pad for further self study.
