Greyson calls Faith to inform her and the rest of her friends, that there has been a huge explosion at Scorchwood Prison and he needs all of their help to track down who has escaped and get them back into their cells before they can cause too much chaos. The ward containing the pocket realm the prison is located in near Ravenholde, is still holding, so nobody should have been able to get very far. But they soon find that some of the most dangerous prisoners have escaped and one in particular, the dark witch Glinda, is behind it all. Her sister Dagna no doubt helped her plan everything, but she must have had either inside or outside help, as she managed somehow to get through the protective shield around the prison. She even managed to avoid Brutus, the dragon protector who guards the prison exterior and is usually invisible to all, but likes Faith a lot and all the goodies she brings him. Hearing that Glinda has escaped and they can find no trace of her nor where she might have gone, the whole shifter community is on high alert. She managed to bewitch the previous wolf shifter alpha and basically helped herself to the pack, using shifters to experiment upon, whilst blaming outside sources. The pack lost a lot of people to her evil magic and she was hard to stop, so their memories are still pretty fresh about what she did. Faith, Tegan, Nishi, Eve, and Salima, have been joined by wolf shifter Aurora, who Hunter has loaned out to help them track escapees from the prison. They find one escapee fairly easily, but others are quite so keen to be recaptured! Glinda had told all those she freed, that the barrier of the pocket realm would be down, but it seems it isn’t and one determined escapee will have to face an angry dragon in Brutus, the final stop gap to prisoners who try to escape! Unfortunately, Brutus manages to spot a hole in the barrier big enough for him to get through and disappears into the human realm.
Brutus may be invisible when he wants to be, but he has no experience of the outside world or humans, and if he gets hungry there is no telling what he might do and how humans might react if he reveals himself! If he ends up killing any humans, the council could issue a death notice on him, something Faith will never allow. Glinda wanted the most dangerous of the prisoners to escape alongside her and cause havoc on the human world, leaving the group far too busy putting out all the fires, to focus on what she has planned. Greyson has a lot of work ahead, even to get a list of all those who have escaped due to the damage form the explosion. He has also found a magical worm within the prison’s security system, meaning he will have to redo all the protections for the prison, from the ground up, starting right back at the beginning. Hunter calls Eve, just s they finish putting another prisoner back in a cell, to tell them a shifter has been killed and it is clearly Glinda’s work. She studied the shifters she experimented on before and it seems she took a certain part of them, hoping it would give her the answers she wanted. But no one knows what exactly she was looking for! It had been almost impossible to apprehend Glinda the first time, so how they will ever manage again, is unclear. There is no trace of Glinda, nor any clue as to how she got on pack lands undetected. Whatever she has done, she has managed to block any attempts to track her. Another pair of escapees needs the sisterhood’s powers to stop them, as they soon find out an incubus demon and a banshee with a vendetta, have escaped, both deadly in their own right.
None of them will be getting much rest until all the escapees are caught, especially Glinda, and Faith is extra worried about her favourite Brutus, who is like family to Faith and she doesn’t want to see anything happen to him if she can help it. This story doesn’t finish here, as there is lots more to be done to find everyone Glinda helped to escape, including a rare Dalaket demon. The sisterhood will stick together no matter what, with the addition of Salima and Aurora, until they track every escapee down and put a stop to Glinda’s evil plans. Another shifter death, this time a cougar from the very pride Faith’s mother once belonged to, the Winterfur pride, brings problems Faith would rather avoid.
I received an ARC copy of this book from BookSprout, and I have freely given my own opinion of the book above.
This is book 30 of the Shrouded Nation and helps if starting from book 1 as there are several characters that are new and those from the beginning with amazing origin stories.
This story immediately starts out with the action underway and is told from the perspective of Faith, the tri-bred bounty hunter. The supernatural prison, Scorchwood, that houses those not-so-savory empowered beings, has been infiltrated and almost disabled by some internal and external assistance. Besides some of the inmates escaping, which shouldn't be possible, the barrier has been breached. While our intrepid team of empowered heroes investigates, they discover some of the escapees and one in particular, Grol, a not-so-polite goblin has escaped and was found near the barrier. However, Brutus, the wonderful dragon and guard also found Grol and managed to stop Grol in his tracks. Upon putting Grol back, thanks to Brutus, they discover weakened areas of the barrier and Brutus just pushed his way through into our not empowered world. Now the dragon is loose in the wilds and not experienced with the everyday lives of our world. How will they find Brutus and what will happen with Cal, the baby dragon that needs the warmth only Brutus can provide?
Turns out, one of the most feared escapees is Glinda, the dark witch responsible for causing havoc within the supernatural community, in particular the shifters. Greyson, the powerful warlock who enabled magic and technology, and Eve our kind-hearted witch combined their skills to seal the barrier enabling the communication spell. This provided a means for Greyson to locate some of the escapees still on the grounds and to view areas that were impacted. While investigating, they discover a magical worm of sorts that seems to be working it's way through the prison and targeting the containment cells. Needless to say, Wilton, the fae warden whom was visiting family while this breach occurred, returns angered and shocked initially taking it out on Greyson.
The team leaves Scorchwood to take on finding the escapees, including Brutus and were alerted to a crime that took place on shifter lands. Hunter, Eve's mate and leader of the shifters is beyond distraught knowing Glinda is behind this. The team combines their knowledge and skills attempting to discover any evidence and perhaps what Glinda may be looking to obtain. With the help of Salima, the amazingly skilled witch, it appears Glinda may be trying to uncover the shifter's healing and shifting abilities. How will the team be able to find and contain Glinda?
Among other escapees are unusual species such as a dalaket, Kaelor with telekinesis and corporeal duplication and a banshee, Dairinn whom may be focused on those she feels are responsible for the grief she still harbors for her sister. Turns out, Carnell, Faith's grandfather's company maintains the houses of those contained within Scorchwood and upon visiting Dairinn's home, find a quaint, yet clean cottage with a hex bag that mimics Dagna's work, another empowered and powerful dark witch working with Glinda. While investigating Dairinn's home, Eve receives disturbing news of her mother's friend, Hazel Gingham, may be missing.
There are many activities in this story with the team taking all of it on. Hopefully, with the help of the other characters such as Odin, Carnell, Greyson, Hunter, Nishi, Tegan, Aurora and others they can manage all of these challenges.
Probably one of the best series written and a favorite. Never a boring moment, great storytelling and even better emotion evoked in the activity and drama. Take the time to read this series!
A Demon, a Dragon, and One Seriously Cursed Tuesday Okay, Tia Didmon—you officially owe me a new coffee mug, because I choked on mine twice while reading To Make a Demon’s Day Worse. Book 30, y’all. Thirty. And somehow, this series still hits like a blast of dragonfire to the face—in the most delicious, chaotic, midlife-magical way possible. At this point, diving into the Shrouded Nation series feels like coming home... if home were a wild ride full of witty witchcraft, shady prisons, missing dragons, and literal demons with grudges. This time? That prison break? Absolutely not a drill. Eve is back and sassier than ever, juggling disaster like it’s just another Tuesday. Honestly, if I had her kind of magical menopause-fueled confidence, I’d be unstoppable. But also probably under federal investigation. Every time she throws out a one-liner or glares down a beast that could swallow her whole, I swear I cheer a little louder for us midlife queens everywhere. And can we talk about the stakes? Explosions? Check. Missing dragon? Double check. Longtime demon nemesis with murder-y vibes? OH YES. Somehow, Tia keeps the emotional core just as sharp as the action—Eve’s tangled connections, her fiercely protective instincts, her complicated past with this vanished witch... it’s all layered like some spell-woven, heart-squeezing lasagna. Highlights That Made Me Cackle, Cry, and Clutch My Kindle: 🐉 A dragon loose in Ravenholde. Do I need to say more? 😈 A demon escapee that made me gasp (and kinda grin) when their name dropped. 🔮 Eve’s personal connection to the missing witch? Gut-punchingly emotional. 💀 The bodies? Brutal. The tension? Chef’s kiss. 🔥 The pacing? Fast enough to melt the ink off your e-reader. 💬 Eve’s banter? ICONIC. I’d let her insult me any day. By the end, I wasn’t just on the edge of my seat—I was practically falling off it. The mystery unfolds with the perfect mix of snark and suspense, and while some threads get tied up (with a bloody bow), others are left teasing the hell out of me for the next book. I swear, every time I finish one of these, I just scream, “Okay, but now what!?” Five fiery stars. A bonus sixth for Eve’s endless sass and the fact that demons just can’t catch a break around her. If you love Shannon Mayer’s Midlife Bounty Hunter or K.F. Breene’s Leveling Up series, you’ll devour this next chapter of magical midlife madness. I came for the chaos. I stayed for the dragon. And I’ll definitely be back for the next demon-smashing ride.
I think this book bothered me more than most of the earlier books combined. Problems arise at the Shrouded Nation’s prison realm. Big giant ones. Greyson calls in the cavalry and Faith, Nishi, Eve, Tegan, Aurora, & Salima come running and find out its total chaos. They work together to try and get everything that needs to be done, but they are pulled in so many directions in this book that it hurts. Also, one of my biggest fears comes true in the book. I spent most of the book chewing on my lip, or my nails, with my AC on high as I was freaking out so badly. I found myself falling in love with all of the Sacred Sisters again. I also found myself becoming even more worried as the book progressed. In fact, I had a few nightmares after I finished reading, it bothered me so much. We get to meet some more of the baddies that are at the prison that have only been mentioned before, even Odin is freaked a bit. Hunter and the pack are freaking out badly and all of the old hatred for witches shows back up. I wanted to thwack some of those wolves in the back of the head for their stupidity. They know Eve and Tegan now. Eve most of all, and they are still staying stupid stuff? I never thought I’d say that I saw those wolves as sheep. *shakes head* Then, I was very happy when Hunter pulled down the verbal wrath of Alpha on them. Had me giggling in glee over it. The book had some fun & funny parts in it, because the girls can’t live without snarking for long, especially Faith. lol. We learn more about the Shrouded Nation’s history and we get to see Eve’s mom some more. I loved this book and I felt it was too short and the cliffhanger made me growl. I can’t wait to see what happens next. I cried a bit too.

This is Book 30 in the Shrouded Nation series as well as being Book 7 in the Supernatural Midlife Bounty Hunter Series. It grabbed my attention from the beginning, when an explosion rocks Scorchwood Prison, and did not let go until the very end. It’s all hands on deck as Eve, Faith, Salima, Aurora, Nishi Tegan and Hunter are called in by Greyson to help get things under control and apprehend the subfloor one escapees. With the goblin Grol being one of the escapees the body count is liable to get high. And let us not forget the master mind behind the whole thing, Glinda! Will the ever catch her or will she finish destroying the shifters this time! Tia Didmon and Brenda Trim do a wonderful job of developing the characters and storylines in the Supernatural Midlife Bounty Hunter series. In fact, the entire Shrouded Nation series is wonderful and I enjoy every story in it and look forward to reading more of them.

Things are going oh so badly in the Shrouded Nation. An explosion and prison break at Scorchwood and the worst of the worst have escaped the pocket realm where the prison is located. Even Brutus is on the lam. Worst of all, the escapees include the dark witch Glinda who was apparently aided and abetted by her sister Dagna. Glinda has taken up right where she left off before her incarceration and killed a member of Hunter's pack. Now the Sacred Sisters not only need to find and capture the vampires, demons, and witches who escaped, they need to retrieve Brutus before someone sees him, and figure out what Glinda's end game is so they can get a step ahead of her.
End in a cliffhanger, of course. Glinda will not be easy to recapture or kill. There is definitely gonna be a few books of adventures before she is dealt with. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Faith,Eve,Nishi,Teagan, Aurora and Salima are back on deck and it starts with an explosion at the prison. The wicked witch set up everything. Hunter and his pack despise her because she was responsible for the massacre of many of his wolves. If she's loose she'll have the help of her sister. Another witch that is not to be trifled with. The hunt is on...the witches and the dragon, Brutus, who managed to get through the barrier, Then they discover the demon is loose. He loves eating human flesh. Danger is high and lives are on the line. Will our team of intrepid women be able to out manoever the witches? A fascinating story that keeps the reader in a high state of alertness.

This is a continuation of the series in Faith's POV. Loved that her relationship with Greyson is getting more. As in previous books the Sacred Sister have more than one fire to put out. Loved that they are able to coordinate their efforts without using words . Eve's mother was a surprise. Maybe even a small breakthrough in their relationship. Well written, steam to the romance , some mysteries still to be solved. Some inmates returned to Scorchwood. Can't wait to see how Faith and her team find Brutus and bring Glinda to justice.

Glinda has figured out how to escape the prison and she lets other prisoners out too. The saddest thing is that Brutus figured out how to leave and now Faith has to find him before he hurts someone or causes trouble. The ladies are going to have their hands full. This was a good read and I read it in one sitting. I have to learn to read her books in the daytime. I was up until late finishing this book. I would recommend this book.

Yet another extraordinary story! Entertaining read that keeps you engaged and guessing. A story of 4 women and growing, where their strengths compliment each other. Working together as a team only makes them stronger and becoming a force to be reckoned with. Amazing series and can't wait to see what is in store for the Sacred Sisters. Highly recommend!.

So it finally happened Glinda has escaped. The Witch orchestrated a mass break out of the prisons most violent felons. Someone has helped her. While digging into her past with the shifters they hope to find a clue to where she's gone and why she so fixated on the shifters.
Much to Faith's horror Brutus has escaped into the human world, they need to find him before he's seen by the humans.

This is Faith side of the story. Glinda has escaped Scorchwood Prison along with a few others. Now Greyson has to fix the prison and the Sisterhood has to try to find and capture the prisoners to bring back. What is Glinda and Dagna up to? Why are they killing shifters? Can they find her before more die? Have to wait for the next book on that one.

The Shrouded Nation series gets more complicated as missing prisoners are on the loose and Eve must track them down. However, questions arise where answers are needed. This story was intriguing and intense as revelations complicated the plot in the most entertaining way possible. I needed to know what would happen next which was the best part of this intense read.

Book 30 and we find out what lurks in the shadows as some inmates of Scorchwood prison have escaped! Our gang team up to round up the escapees only to discover that our favourite dragon has made it into our world and that we are not prepared for that! Dark witches, warlocks, dragons, goblins, these stories are never dull and have me hooked from start to finish as our team never back down no matter the challenge.
Faith gets to put her skills to the test again in trying to hunt down escapees from Scorchwood with the rest of the sisterhood. She proves her flexibility in what she does with the variety she hunts. Teamwork helps and she's not going to let anyone get away, not on her watch.

a devastating collection of prison escapes links past and present horrors and vengeance together, as the ladies work to contain the damage and mitigate the effects.
pasts, present and horrible future plans crash together in devastating and exhausting ways that highlight key elements of the past linked to the Shrouded Nation.
There's a explosion at the supernatural prison. Many deadly supernatural creatures and characters have escaped causing chaos and death wherever they go. What is behind Glinda's obsession about destroying shifters? Will the girls catch her and put a stop to her evil?.
