When Connor Finch insists his one-time Tinder match, Shae, comes to his dad’s house for Thanksgiving with her two daughters, it’s because he refuses to let them be alone on her first-holiday post-divorce.

But when she arrives at the Christmas tree farm and ranch he grew up on, she meets his father—the crazy tall, built, golden retriever cowboy who tells her girls all about the magic of the stupid elf on a shelf.

Of course, when she later corners him and tells him thanks a lot for nothing and that she’s way too overwhelmed to have to deal with yet another responsibility, he feels terrible.

So terrible, he finds himself driving two hours every night just to deliver an elf, move him about, and create some Christmas magic for her girls.

But what happens when he decides meeting her the way he did was some kind of Christmas miracle, and he needs to convince Shae to give him a shot?

Morgan is a born and raised Jersey girl, living there with her two boys, toddler daughter, and mechanic husband. She’s addicted to iced espresso, barbecue chips, and Starburst jellybeans. She usually has headphones on, listening to some spicy audiobook or Taylor Swift. There is rarely an in between.

Writing has been her calling for as long as she can remember. There’s a framed ‘page one’ of a book she wrote at seven hanging in her childhood home to prove the point. Her entire life she’s crafted stories in her mind, begging to be released but it wasn’t until recently she finally gave them the reigns.

I’m so grateful you’ve agreed to take this journey with me.

Big Nick Energy is a warm, cozy and fluffy read with spice. This book is so heartfelt and will make you smile, laugh, and cry … such a great Christmas feel good book with Hallmark vibes❤️💚🎄 If you haven’t seen my updates I LOVED this book so so much my heart is in shambles in the best way😊🥹

(Y’all I’m not going to lie I saw cowboy and tree farm and said this will be my next read 🤭 I’ve been having Christmas Tree Farm by Tay Tay playing softly in the background while reading).

Tropes

❣️cowboy romance
❣️single mom/single dad
❣️reverse grumpyXsunshine
❣️He falls first
❣️Age gap

Summary: Shae is a single mom who is recently divorced decides to go on a date with someone she swiped right on tinder. The date didn’t go as planned but she left with a good friend named Connor. Months later he invites her to his father’s tree farm to spend the holidays.

Nick is the absolute sweetest I’m seriously obsessed. He’s a MAJOR cinnamon roll and will do anything for Shae and her daughters 🥹. He’s kind, thoughtful, considerate and wants to make Shae happy. He’s patient and allows things to move at a pace where she is comfortable which I loved. His love language has got to be physical touch he’s always touching Shae giving reassuring hugs, kisses etc the man is affectionate. But don’t let the sweetness fool you his filthy talk….my my my I was gripping the covers 😮‍💨🥵

Shae is a single mom and is adjusting to her new life. She’s stressed and has a lot on her plate raising two daughters all by herself due to leaving an abusive marriage. With all that being said she’s not super happy go lucky and smiley due to her circumstances. She’s independent, strong, stubborn, and such an amazing mother. Her ex husband really broke her and watching Nick break down her emotional walls had me cheering for them!!

Things I Loved

♦️ He drives two hours to come to her house and change the elf on the shelf every night leaving notes and gifts for her and girls🥹😭
♦️the discussion of motherhood and negative treatment society can give mothers whether they are either single, working mom or stay at home moms
♦️Nick calling her “sugarplum” 🥰🫠
♦️the first time he called them “our girls”
♦️He takes care of her while she’s sick 🥹
♦️MMC is a consent king
♦️NO 3rd ACT BREAKUP!!!!!!!
♦️HEA

Favorites Quotes\Interactions

“You give off major Santa energy. You’ve got . . .” Another giggle bubbles in my chest at the thought that came to my mind, and even though I fight not to say it aloud, I can’t stop it from tumbling out. “You’ve got big Nick energy.”

“What’s with that? The sugarplum thing.” “It’s you,” he says simply. “What? Sugarplum is me?” “Oh, absolutely,” he says then shrugs on his jacket. “I most definitely have visions of you dancing in my head all night, every night.”

“One of these days, you’ll realize I’m not doing this shit because I feel guilty. I’m doing it because I really fuckin’ like you, sugarplum. I like you, and I take note, and I’m here to make your life easier.”

“Everyone needs someone to take care of them sometimes, sugar. Even strong women who don’t want it.” “And you’re the one to give it to me?” “I’m really, really trying to be, Shae. Just waiting for you to let me.”

Third time, I’ll make you come on my cock in your bed, screaming into your pillow so we don’t wake anyone up. But the first? It’ll be just us.” All the air leaves my lungs as, once more, his fingers move to my pussy.”

✎𓂃 “I knew the second he laid eyes on me… I looked at him and knew down to my depths that there was some kind of invisible string, some kind of bond between us that meant this would have always been groundbreaking, soul-shattering.”

🎶OK YEP, CUE TSWIFT🎶

Folks, my EYES. They are just PUDDLES 😭❣️I knew this book would stir up the emotions, but even me, with my cold black heart, came out of this crying a flippin river!

☆Summary:
Shae, single mother of two (Ruby and Harper), is spending her first holiday season alone with her girls after her divorce from her toxic, abusive ex-husband. Connor, her first dating app experience that turns out to be just a platonic friend, ends up inviting Shae to Thanksgiving at Finch Ranch & Christmas Tree Farm (🎶yep more TSwift!🎶), where she meets Connor's single dad Nick. She has a lot of baggage, but Nick has a lot of…big energy, and he’s here to prove he’s exactly what she and her daughters need in life…by way of the Elf on the Shelf.

☆The Characters:
Shae, ugh I feel for her!!! After years of verbal abuse from her POS ex husband, it’s completely understandable how much it affected her as person, and her decisions for her family. I feel so proud of her for leaving when she did, especially before he could hurt the kids!! There were so many moments with Nick where I wanted to shake her and tell her that YES you can have him AND so can your girls (in the sense that they bond with him as a friend/father figure). But she spent her entire life being the selfless one, putting everyone’s needs ahead of her own. It’s so admirable that she would also put her daughters' needs above her own romantic ones.

Now before we really get into Nick, let’s address the elephant in the room: the title. While yes, he’s got some dirty good energy ayoooo, he’s also v much a Santa Claus. A big golden retriever kind that does anything and everything for Shae. Though he heard a lot about her through his son, his introduction to Shae is very insta-love. He immediately inserts himself into their lives with the Elf on the Shelf, moving it every night so that Shae has one less thing on her plate to worry about. The least he could do imo, as Shae tried to tell him she wanted nothing to do with it:

✎𓂃 “But again, I am a man, as as you might know, men are not great at reading signs.”

Sorry. True lol.

THIS MAN tho, the way he goes to every length for her!!! Bringing her wine, dinner, taking care of her during her migraines. But the way he shows up for Ruby and Harper???? MY GOD just take my heart Nick. He had me swooning, crying, RUNNING to find me a hot, sensitive cowboy!

☆My Thoughts:
I wanted an emotional story and this delivered!! Nick was everything–always making sure Shae was okay with their pace, that she felt in control, constantly asking for consent. It did become a little too much to me, just how many times he asked to do something, or would take it easy on her. When Shae finally gains her voice, let me tell you the way I CHEERED for her!!!! Thank you girl, I was tired of it too!!!

But the way he becomes exactly what her family needs, just 🫠🫠🫠 It doesn’t make her less, doesn’t mean she’s not a strong woman, if she needs to ask for and accept help. If anything, it makes her that much stronger.

And that epilogue. OH people, read this one for that epilogue alone!!! Nick will win you over!!

Unrelated but I found at least 5 typos in this book, and the nitpicky, perfectionist graphic designer I am was extremely annoyed lol. It's the *little things* that truly bug me 😂

☆Quotes:
✎𓂃“I’m not going to push you into anything you’re not comfortable with, but I’ll wait here patiently until you’re ready for an us. Until then, I’ll be here, your…emotional trash can.”😂

✎𓂃“Even more alarming than the attraction, though, is this excruciating desire to…take care of her. Comfort her. The desire to make her feel welcome in my home, like she belongs here.”

✎𓂃“What’s with that? The sugarplum thing.” “It’s you,” he says simply. “I most definitely have visions of you dancing in my head all night, every night.”

✎𓂃“A cowboy puts his hat on a woman, he’s marking his territory. I need everyone who works for me, everyone whose eyes won’t leave your ass in those jeans to know just how off-fucking-limits you are.” boy you can mark your territory on me ANY TIME

✎𓂃“So, if I’m here, driving an hour each night, using an excuse of moving a toy every night so you’ll open the door for me and let me try to win you over, it’s because I fucking like you.”

✎𓂃“He might think my trust was a gift for him, but him teaching me how to give it was the real gift.”

This man—all cowboy and rough edges wrapped in cotton candy sweetness and silly Christmas cheer.

Nick is way too good that he’d probably scare me if he was real. He was so into her, too fast, no brakes, totally invested and sure of them. The things he’d do for her? How considerate and sweet he was? He’d probably scare my commitment-phobe self if we were to meet in real life. And the reverse grumpy/sunshine trope here was everything! I loved how she was so grumpy towards him. His over sweetness needed to be balanced lol.

I’m not a holiday romance reader. I try to at least read one every year. Last year was ‘tis the season for revenge, so I decided to take the shot with another one of her books and it was such a winner. I love that her books are festive but not “too festive”. They’re just right. This one was just super cute and warm with no third act breakup which was a bonus!

Big Nick Energy is a sweet and steamy holiday romance featuring he falls first and harder, reverse grumpy x sunshine, single parent, cowboy, and age gap tropes. The story follows Shae, a recently divorced woman who is putting her life back together after leaving her abusive husband. Focused on keeping her two young daughters happy and healthy is enough on her plate; but when she spends Thanksgiving at her friends' house and his father, Nick, brings up elf on the shelf to her impressionable girls, Nick and Shae are forced to work together to bring seasonal magic to her household.

Nick, Nick, Nick! I could write a whole review solely about Nick and how sweet he was to Shae and her girls. The man was absolutely devoted to her and making her life easier, the way he was patient but assertive when need be was so swoony. I think he did more things for her in the month they knew each other than any other romance MC I've read before. I loved how kind, understanding, and heartfelt he was about everything he did, the romance and the fact that there was no miscommunication or third-act breakup just fit his character so well. Overall, this is a very cute and cozy holiday romance, while there wasn't much happening plot-wise, I feel like most holiday romances are about the vibes and let me tell you the vibes were great in this book.

This book is such a feel-good romance. It has no third-act breakup, it's very low on the angst, and the romance is so cute. Like, if you're looking for a book that just gives you good feels and you want to enjoy a fun time, Big Nick Energy is THAT book.

This is my second Morgan Elizabeth novel and you know what? I love them. I'm definitely reading more by her because I just know she writes my type of book. Big Nick Energy is perfect for the holiday season and for romance fans. It has a single mom + dad who meet one day during a Thanksgiving dinner. Nick feels bad that he told Shae's daughter about the tradition of Elf on a shelf, so now he is committed to giving it to them. Nick drives two hours every night to Shae's house in order to organize the elf in different parts of her house so her daughters find it in the morning *awwww* It's so adorable and I love love love everything about it.

Nick is hands down so obsessed with her and wants to ask her to marry her since day one lmao. I love that type of man! He is such a clingy man as well, always wanting to touch her and hold her in some type of way. He is patient and knows that Shae has some personal things to figure out before starting a romantic relationship but he's so patient with her and tells her he'll wait as much as she wants. She's it for him!!!! I just loved these two and I definitely find myself rereading this novel sometime soon. It's such a comfort read now.

Morgan did it again. Once again a story about a woman going through some very real things in her life, absolutely refusing help from the well-meaning people around her, till a brick of a man bulldozes past all of her boundaries and forces her to take help and they live happily ever after.

Too many women have similar experiences to Shea. I do think she is a great mom & works so hard to do right by her kids, but I don’t understand how she is written in a way that puts her at odds with herself.

Nick was okay, I mean he is the typical Morgan Elizabeth leading man, stable job, good looking, built like a house, expert in bed & the female orgasm, and completely disregards the lady’s spoken boundaries.

Control. Every ME book has a buzzword, this one was control. It’s in the book 70 times. Shea had all this control over everything according to Nick. He said he would wait for days, weeks, months, YEARS for her to be ready for them as a relationship. He says it like every other page, but then immediately following “until then I’m going to insert myself into your life and take care of you”. SIR! And the times that she told him he didn’t have to do it, of course it’s “I wanted to”. YOU COULD WANT TO ACTUALLY TAKE IT SLOW!!!!! The woman just came out of a decade long relationship with an extremely manipulative narcissist and despite the kindness of Nick’s gestures, they came off manipulative in my eyes.

I wish their relationship could have been a bit slower. I get that there’s only so much time between Thanksgiving and Christmas, but I think Thanksgiving this year to Christmas the following could have been a really lovely opportunity to watch Shea come into her own & grow alongside her relationship with Nick, rather than Nick swooping in and solving all the problems by having her move in. But I gotta remember, IT’S Christmas!!! 🫠

I know I’m taking this way too serious, but I know Morgan Elizabeth can write some fun, entertaining romance and I’m just heartbroken to not have loved her stuff this year.

But I am happy that this did resonate with others & they found something they were looking for.

2.5 ⭐️ The way this book let me down… 😭
It starts out strong — sweet and cozy — and then keeps circling the same emotional block until I was completely exhausted.

🎄 The Premise

Shae is a newly divorced single mom of two girls, rebuilding her life after a ten-year, emotionally abusive marriage. A failed Tinder date turns into an unexpected friendship, leading to a Thanksgiving at a Christmas tree farm… where she meets Nick — the owner and Connor’s dad.

One casual mention of Elf on the Shelf sends her kids into Christmas mode, and Nick quietly steps in to help. And then he just… never stops showing up.

🤠 Nicolas Finch (42)
Big. Golden. Retriever. Energy.

Nick drives two hours every night just to move an Elf on the Shelf. Leaves notes. Brings dinner. Shows up constantly. Treats Shae’s daughters like they’re already his.

He’s patient, devoted, consent-focused, and completely all-in from the moment he meets Shae.

“Until then, I'll be here, your… emotional trash can. Give it all to me. I promise I can take it."

Honestly? If he were real, he might scare me a little — because no one is this perfect. 🚨
Sir. You own a Christmas tree farm during peak season. Why do you have this much free time?

Also… where did Connor go?? His son — the literal reason Nick and Shae meet — basically disappears halfway through the book.

🎁 Sharon “Shae” (35)

Shae is a fantastic mother. Her girls always come first, and the weight she carries after years of abuse is portrayed very realistically. While I’m not a mom, her inner monologue felt deeply relatable.

“I’m tired of making every decision, of being the only one that can make choices, of not being able to delegate.”

BUT. She refuses help for WAY too long.

I understand the why — trauma, control, survival mode — but the constant push-and-pull with Nick became repetitive and frustrating.

Ruby and Harper, however, are absolute angels, and Nick’s relationship with them is hands-down the best part of the book.

🐴 My Thoughts

I wanted to love this more than I did — it’s sweet, but ultimately overwhelming.

The romance is extremely insta-love, which I usually enjoy — but given Shae’s background, everything unfolding over a few weeks just didn’t work for me.

This desperately needed tighter editing too: very little plot outside the relationship, repetitive emotional loops, a random, one-sentence POV switch (??), and barely any side characters.

On the plus side: no third-act breakup, no miscommunication trope, and Nick’s consistency does make sense for his character — it was just… a lot.

It’s basically a spicy Hallmark movie.
The rope scene was hot, I’ll give it that.

Tropes / What to Expect

“That life is too damn short to play it safe all of the time. That even when it scares you, love is worth it. The promise of being in love and being loved is worth the risk.”

Thank goodness for the mmc because the fmc was insufferable. It honestly hurt to read some of her dialogue. Not even monologue. I mean dialogue🤚. Like girl we know you want him. Stop pushing him away for no reason then get sad when he won’t kiss you🙄. Literally dumb. Jump his bones already or else I will😏.

“I’m a patient man. And for you, I’ll wait a decade.”

He is better than me.
I did absolutely love the mmc. The sunshine, golden retriever energy was immaculate😚. But he could’ve stopped with the nickname “Sugarplum”😬😟(I had to look it up and those things are ugly😭). He was the only reason I am giving this book a 3 stars because that is a generous rating for something that had absolutely no plot. Like where was anything🧐. He literally owned a whole tree farm, and nothing or no event took place. I was so bored🥱. Everything was on repeat.
I did however enjoy the little sprinkle of spice🤭.

Also, did anyone else notice that on chapter 44 it literally changes the pov for one sentence?

(I might drop this to a 2.75 star🤧)

Reread 12/7 - loved it even more!!!

5 “Big Nick Energy” stars ⭐️

This book knocked me on my arse!! Nick Finch has my whole heart..okay, I’m being slightly dramatic but you catch my meaning. He is EVERYTHING. I’m a sucker for Ranchers/cowboys, calloused hands, and he’s good with ropes.😉

This book had me crying, laughing and cranked the heat up to sweltering in a chilly room. It checked all my boxes and so much more!! I’m totally gone when it comes to good single Fathers. This book was original, fresh and different from anything I’ve read in a while.

Single mom of two girls 35 years old, swipes on Tinder and goes out with a 25 year old that becomes her good friend and they have zero chemistry. Connor invites her to the ranch for Thanksgiving, insert meeting his dad..the rest is delicious history. The way Nick earns Shae’s trust one day at a time and can we talk about the patience he had with her. He literally made her feel safe and I loved seeing her defenses, her walls crumble down to dust. He also did this with her two girls and it tugged on my heart something fierce. This book made me feel so much!! Like on a deep level and we haven’t even talked about the spice😮‍💨🥵 SO FREAKIN GOOD!!

I instantly want to reread and I will because I bought the paperback so I can annotate. It’s that good!

UMMM. Well, let's see:

Pros: if you like:
- hot single-dad (42) + hot single-mom romance (35)
- city cowboys
- seasonal (Christmas) magic romance
- HEAs that are mostly realistic
- cute parenting partnership
- and, no third-act breakup or miscommunication trope

Cons: not my cup of tea, because I'm not a fan of:
- overt "macho, I will protect you" trope
- continuous "you were destined for me" trope
- continuous "I know everything, just you wait and see" man trope
- rushed smut
- elf on the shelf (LOL)

So, in short, it was entertaining but nothing to write home about. That's all!

Super adorable christmas romance! The hero is determined to win the heroine over, so he shows up every single day to help hide the elf on the shelf for her daughters. They start growing closer and she slowly opens up to him after leaving a horrible abusive husband. This was christmasy and cute and would definitely recommend!

morgan never does me wrong.

this is the CUTEST single mom x single dad, age gap, holiday romance. after leaving her abusive husband, shae is just focused on giving her daughters the best she can. but, her tinder date turned best friend has someone in mind for her... his dad.

this was a hallmark movie but make it spicy in the best way. i will never get sick of a single mom and the most reassuring hero who's like nope. i'm taking care of you guys. get used to it.

This was so fast. Omg? Who moves this fast with kids to think about? Probably should've leaned even harder into this just being a Santa fic if you were gonna go that route

Kind of struggled to like Shae. Normally the thought behind her behavior was fine -- setting boundaries, controlling her kids' expectations, asking people to let her handle things herself. All good things, and I would have been on her side the whole time easily if she expressed herself. But a lot of the time I was begging her to just fucking say no and MEAN IT instead of muttering "don't", letting people help her/enter her home/harass her/etc anyway, and then being a dick about it.

Also...did she just not get him a Christmas present? I don't think she does a single nice thing for this man besides let him fuck her

King was so 2D and just decided randomly to devote his whole being to this gal that he heard about from his son.
Also epilogue was #weird; did not enjoying the phrasing of him saying he wanted to marry the daughters too (like I get that that is not how it’s meant). Similar dislike of FMC saying she was giving MMC to her daughters like wtf. Maybe I’m just #broken but like such weird wording.

Found this book on TikTok and this is just the cutest holiday romance.
It‘s full of clichés with an okay story and likeable characters. A good and quick read.
The writing style is easy and I enjoyed reading.
Nick and Shae are just made for each other. Find it totally funny that Shae first went on a date with Connor (Nicks son) and he decided to match her with his dad. Liked the way it just was uncomplicated.

reread update: I forgot how much I LOVED this book😭💜

————————————

This man is the greenest green flag to ever exist: patient and kind and such a GENTLEMAN. all he wants to do is take care of Shae, be there for her girls and show her it's okay to lean on someone. istg I NEED me a dilf like him. like suddenly my love language is acts of service and words of affirmation🧎🏻‍♀️whatever this man does, I would fold in a heartbeat.

“𝑨 𝒑𝒂𝒓𝒕 𝒐𝒇 𝒎𝒆 𝒔𝒂𝒘 𝑺𝒉𝒂𝒆 𝒇𝒐𝒓 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒇𝒊𝒓𝒔𝒕 𝒕𝒊𝒎𝒆 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒊𝒕 𝒘𝒂𝒔 𝒍𝒊𝒌𝒆 𝑰 𝒌𝒏𝒆𝒘, 𝒐𝒏𝒆 𝒘𝒂𝒚 𝒐𝒓 𝒂𝒏𝒐𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒓, 𝒔𝒉𝒆 𝒘𝒂𝒔 𝒔𝒆𝒏𝒕 𝒕𝒐 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒘𝒐𝒓𝒍𝒅 𝒕𝒐 𝒃𝒆 𝒎𝒊𝒏𝒆. 𝑰 𝒘𝒂𝒔 𝒃𝒓𝒐𝒖𝒈𝒉𝒕 𝒉𝒆𝒓𝒆 𝒕𝒐 𝒕𝒂𝒌𝒆 𝒄𝒂𝒓𝒆 𝒐𝒇 𝒉𝒆𝒓, 𝒕𝒐 𝒎𝒂𝒌𝒆 𝒔𝒖𝒓𝒆 𝒔𝒉𝒆 𝒂𝒍𝒘𝒂𝒚𝒔 𝒄𝒐𝒎𝒆𝒔 𝒇𝒊𝒓𝒔𝒕. 𝑨𝒏𝒅 𝑰’𝒎 𝒈𝒐𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒕𝒐 𝒅𝒐 𝒕𝒉𝒂𝒕.”

& he RADIATES a man written by Mariana Zapata, which made me fall for him even more. older, knows what he wants and isn't afraid to work for it. let me tell you, maturity is ATTRACTIVE. the way he would go out of his way to take care of her, like he couldn't BREATHE unless he was doing things for her or her girls. driving one hour each way to just see her and talk to her, taking the burden off her shoulders, proving to her in every way that he's here to stay, treating her girls like they're his, making them his ONLY priority, breaking down her walls just for a chance to love her and get her trust. CAN HE BE MORE PERFECT?

“𝑰’𝒎 𝒂 𝒑𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒆𝒏𝒕 𝒇𝒖𝒄𝒌𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒎𝒂𝒏. 𝑰𝒇 𝑰 𝒉𝒂𝒗𝒆 𝒕𝒐 𝒔𝒑𝒆𝒏𝒅 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒏𝒆𝒙𝒕 𝒕𝒆𝒏 𝒚𝒆𝒂𝒓𝒔 𝒅𝒓𝒊𝒗𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒂𝒏 𝒉𝒐𝒖𝒓 𝒆𝒗𝒆𝒓𝒚 𝒏𝒊𝒈𝒉𝒕 𝒋𝒖𝒔𝒕 𝒕𝒐 𝒔𝒆𝒆 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒈𝒖𝒚𝒔, 𝒋𝒖𝒔𝒕 𝒕𝒐 𝒉𝒂𝒗𝒆 𝒅𝒊𝒏𝒏𝒆𝒓 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒕𝒖𝒄𝒌 𝒊𝒏 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒈𝒊𝒓𝒍𝒔, 𝒕𝒐 𝒔𝒍𝒐𝒘𝒍𝒚 𝒊𝒏𝒈𝒓𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒂𝒕𝒆 𝒎𝒚𝒔𝒆𝒍𝒇 𝒊𝒏 𝒚𝒐𝒖𝒓 𝒍𝒊𝒇𝒆, 𝒕𝒐 𝒆𝒂𝒓𝒏 𝒕𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒕𝒓𝒖𝒔𝒕, 𝑰’𝒎 𝒊𝒏. 𝑩𝒆𝒄𝒂𝒖𝒔𝒆 𝒘𝒉𝒆𝒏 𝒊𝒕 𝒄𝒐𝒎𝒆𝒔 𝒕𝒐 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒕𝒉𝒓𝒆𝒆, 𝑰’𝒎 𝒂𝒍𝒍 𝒊𝒏, 𝑺𝒉𝒂𝒆.”

Shae is a single mother and has been through so much. after leaving an abusive relationship, all she wants to do is give her girls the best life. no matter how difficult it would get for her, she’d sacrifice everything to make them happy. when Nick comes into her life, it tilts her world. here's this man that just wants to share the burden with her and show her it's okay to have someone take care of you. it takes a long time for her to realize he's truly just trying to make things easier for her. but Nick was so patient omg. he would constantly remind her that he'll wait however long it takes cause he isn't afraid to work for it. work to earn her trust, her love, her heart. THIS MAN--I AM UNWELL BECAUSE WHAT. oh to be loved like this😭god when is it my turn.

“𝑵𝒊𝒄𝒌 𝒇𝒆𝒆𝒍𝒔 𝒍𝒊𝒌𝒆 𝒉𝒐𝒎𝒆. 𝑵𝒐𝒕 𝒊𝒏 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒘𝒂𝒚 𝒕𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒉𝒆 𝒇𝒆𝒆𝒍𝒔 𝒇𝒂𝒎𝒊𝒍𝒊𝒂𝒓, 𝒃𝒖𝒕 𝒊𝒏 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒘𝒂𝒚 𝒕𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒉𝒆 𝒋𝒖𝒔𝒕 . . . 𝒇𝒊𝒕𝒔. 𝑰𝒏 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒘𝒂𝒚 𝒘𝒉𝒆𝒓𝒆 𝑰 𝒇𝒆𝒆𝒍 𝒍𝒊𝒌𝒆 𝒘𝒉𝒆𝒏 𝑰’𝒎 𝒃𝒚 𝒉𝒊𝒔 𝒔𝒊𝒅𝒆, 𝑰 𝒄𝒂𝒏 𝒃𝒐𝒕𝒉 𝒅𝒐 𝒂𝒏𝒚𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒃𝒆 𝒂𝒏𝒚𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒅𝒐 𝒊𝒕 𝒂𝒍𝒍 𝒔𝒂𝒇𝒆𝒍𝒚. 𝑰𝒏 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒘𝒂𝒚 𝑰 𝒌𝒏𝒐𝒘 𝒉𝒆’𝒍𝒍 𝒑𝒓𝒐𝒕𝒆𝒄𝒕 𝒎𝒆 𝒏𝒐 𝒎𝒂𝒕𝒕𝒆𝒓 𝒘𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒄𝒐𝒎𝒆𝒔, 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝑰’𝒎 𝒔𝒂𝒇𝒆 𝒕𝒐 . . . 𝒕𝒐 𝒕𝒓𝒚.”

Nick has been head over heels for her since the moment they met. although they didn't get off to a good start, he went out of his way to prove himself to her. he worked his way into her life and made those girls his home. when she finally opened up to him, it made me so happy. they are so perfect for each other🥹

Nick's relationship with Ruby and Harper was so CUTE. he learned every single thing about them just so he would know how to make them happy. even gave them an elf to make Christmas a little more magical for them. I loved how the girls saw him as a comforting person, someone they can always go to, who will always be there for them. the ending when he told them "𝑰 𝒘𝒂𝒏𝒕 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒕𝒐 𝒃𝒆 𝒎𝒊𝒏𝒆, 𝒈𝒊𝒓𝒍𝒔. 𝑰 𝒘𝒂𝒏𝒕 𝒕𝒐 𝒃𝒆 𝒚𝒐𝒖𝒓 𝒅𝒂𝒅 𝒇𝒐𝒓𝒆𝒗𝒆𝒓." I was in tears.

if you want a cute, but steamy Christmas novella, you'll LOVE this. the spice was so unexpected, I did not see that coming. but DAMN. if I thought Nick was hot before, him in the bedroom with that dirty mouth made him 10x hotter🤭the ending was *chefs kiss*. all I can say is that there was rope involved...

Tis the Season for Revenge by her wasn’t really my favorite but this book completely changed my mind about her. the writing, the pacing, the characters, the plot, everything was done perfectly. this was 294 pages but I needed more. at this point I wouldn’t mind an extra 100. they could be doing the most domestic things, just spending time together as a family and I would eat it up.

don't mind me while I go through her backlist to find my next high.

“I don’t wish you met me first. If you did, you wouldn’t be the woman I’m falling for.”

I swear this book is for the act of service girlies 😩✋

what's with these holiday romances and their ability to make me so emo????

Nick's moments with the girls?? THE EPILOGUE?? got me sobbing. could it be because of my abandonment issues, PROBABLY but I didn't care because Nick felt like a character someone would wish upon a star for.

Now as for Shae, I had mixed feelings about her because...someone needs to count the amount of times she said,

"Nick-"
"Nick!!"
"Nick..."

eeeeverytime Nick did something for her. LIKE girl at some point you gotta stop saying that and accept the help. Props to Nick, he's a way better person than me fr bc if I was him I would've left her ass the 138th time she said "Nick."

and maybe someone needs to check on Nick too bc the amount of times that man said the word "mine" is a little concerning.

ANYWAYS, back to Shae. ironically the only times I couldn't stand her were when she was talking to Nick. she was just way too damn frustrating with the not wanting to accept help thing bc she did that for WAAYYYY too long in my opinion and it got annoying at one point. but her as a mother and as an individual?? I LIKED HER. I could actually relate to her a lot and her inner monologue got me sobbing slash crying at times lol.

“I’m tired of making every decision, of being the only one that can make choices, of not being able to delegate.”

Felt that to my core. I don't have kids but I am taking care of two other people and oh man the decision fatigue is REALLLL. I really appreciated the whole conversation Shae had with Nick regarding that. It was well portrayed and actually put what I've been feeling into words perfectly.

And Shae said some of my most favorite lines ever.

“I roll my eyes because why are men . . . men?”

real

“Still, I sigh and reply because, again, I’m a bitch but I’m not a cunt.”

That is pretty much my motto

“It’s good for girls to have a healthy sense of delusion.”

Couldn't agree more.

I should also mention how heartwarming it was to see Nick interact with the girls. He really stepped up without any doubts or reservations and just AAAHHHH. so sweet. And also Connor with Shae and the girls as well? I wish we could've seen more of him :(

“Forever, Rubes. I want to be your dad forever. And you too, Harp.”

LIKE HELLO NICK???? are you expecting me not to sob at THAT??? pls why is this book attacking every single issue I have 😤

but yeah this was a really cute and sweet holiday romance. the rope scene <3 <3 <3 lol
im sorry this is a mess it's 3 am i am sleep deprived

Nick is a freaking unicorn! Gooosh, I love how he was so down bad for Shae and all the efforts he made for her and her girls. He's way too good, too perfect, honestly, and I can't find any fault in him. I loved him, and I want my own Nick! 😂 Though the rope thingy annoyed me because I wanted him to do that with Shae only, he later admitted that he enjoyed doing it and had done it before 😑 So the fantasy was ruined for me; I thought she was special. But whatever, obviously, this is a me problem.

As for Shae, she annoyed me for the 90% of the book. She's the most stubborn FMC I've encountered this year. I get the independence and control thing that she wanted to have, but goosh! She really pissed me off so much. Accepting assistance is perfectly acceptable; it doesn't diminish her value as a person or a mother. Yet, this woman, who consistently allows her pride to get in the way, continues to turn down help until roughly the 90% mark in the story. I really wanted to like her, but I can't stand her stubbornness any longer. So, I just gave up. I don't care what's going to happen with her character anymore.

As for the daughters, Harper and Ruby, I love them. They and Nick make this story worth reading. There's just something about kids in romance fiction that makes it a little better.

Overall, I would still consider this a worthwhile story, only because of Nick and the girls. Shae is irrelevant to me at this point, but since she's the FMC, I guess readers have to endure her being difficult for the most part of this book. If readers are up for that, then they should go for this book.
