Hi, I’m Lola! I’m a book lover with a *slight* romance obsession. My books are all steamy romantic fantasy or paranormal romance, and there is always a happily ever after.

This one was definitely the most fun I've read out of the four books! 😂
Bane and Zora were just hilarious together, and I really love how they were both so obsessed and possessive of each other. These traits were evident in all the men in the previous book, but they had never been applied to the women. So, it's refreshing to see Zora portrayed this way.
Ngl, I was a bit skeptical about her since she came off as this tough-as-nails character in the previous stories, and I honestly thought she’d be all witchy in this one. But I’m really happy to be proven wrong! 😄
Zora was just as stubborn as all her sisters. But hers didn't stick around for too long. She’s got a good sense of when to stand firm and when to acknowledge her mistakes I really enjoy her feisty side, but I appreciate her even more when she shows her humble side. She's independent, yet she didn't hesitate to show her vulnerable side to Bane, even though it wasn't easy for her. She opened up to him and shared her thoughts and fears.
As for Bane, can I have my own Bane? 😂
Look, I get it! All the guys in this series have been pretty swoonworthy (most of the time), but I have to say, out of the four, I think Bane really stands out as the best. He's my bias, mmmkay? 🤣
He's been known for his control all his life and has never been one to lose it, however, Zora keeps testing him. And despite the thin thread of control he's holding on to since he met her, he still always approached things with patience, gentleness, and understanding toward her. He never played the push-and-pull game or denied his feelings.
When things got tough, he never walked away. Instead, he preferred to communicate and work through their issues together. I love a man who likes to communicate. 🤭
He always puts her needs before his own. He even learned how to make her coffee, even though he can't stand the smell of it, just so he can give it to her because he knows she loves her morning coffee. He turned into her personal canopy once he learned that Sirens needed it to catch some sleep. Most of all, he's so possessive, jealous, and protective of her.
I could probably still share some of the swoony things he did for her, but I think I’ll hold off on that for now. The point is, he really knows how to show his love for his mate. 🤭
Anywaaay, I love them, but ngl, things got progressively fast between these two. They were all over each other at the speed of light. 😂
Also, I think this book has more steam than the others, so I ended up skimming some of them. These two were so hot for each other, it's crazy sometimes. Bane is sooo insatiable—for someone new to sex, he certainly has no qualms or boundaries. 🫣 And for someone who barely likes sex, Zora was more than happy to participate and accommodate Bane's needs all the time. 🤣
That being said, overall, I really enjoyed this one, and I think this is my favorite couple so far. There's still one book left, so we'll just have to wait and see! 🤭
Book info: - Monster (Gargoyle) x Siren - Imprinting - Mention of abuse (past) - Steaaamy! - No cheating or separation - Slight OM/OW - V MMC 🤭, No V FMC - HEA (mos later, pregnant w/ twins)
Notes: - OW. Not really. But there's a woman that his mother has been trying to match him with for a century now, but he's just not interested in her. She appeared in the story but doesn't make any scene. She was just sad that Bane bonded to Zora, but in the end she found her own mate. - OM. This demon imprinted on Zora without her consent, and he's the reason why she had to resort to finding someone else to bond with. He did cause some issues in the story—nothing major, though. And since the OM is really a nice guy (overall and looking past the imprinting), Bane didn't want to hurt him and instead found a way to break the imprint. The OW ends up with him. - Celibacy. Zora said she's not a fan of sex, and I think she only does it when there's a necessity to feed; even her sisters confirmed this. So I don't think she's totally experienced, but compared to Bane, she definitely knows more than a thing or two. And I think it has been a while for her.

what if I told you this wasn’t the first gargoyle romance I’ve read
I loved it - this series is so lighthearted and fun
this series: - each book has a possessive mmc (fae, vampire, werewolf, gargoyle shifter, dragon shifter - there is literally a man for everyone) - romance focused - addicting & super fast reads - steamy
info for this book specifically: - he’s a monster shifter (gargoyle) - she’s a siren - he’s down bad - forced proximity - he’s always in control but loses it over her - dual pov - he turns to stone….pls imagine - fun spice - *slight spoiler* - epilogue pregnancy
»I need a better nickname for you. Even the boring ones would be better. I kind of like Babe.« »I'm the gargoyle king. You can't call me Babe.«

❥ 𝒁𝒐𝒓𝒂 𝜗𝜚˚⋆ I liked her and she was fun.
❥ 𝑩𝒂𝒏𝒆 ࣪⋆✮ A big, broody gargoyle who does everything to make his mate happy.
✥ 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒃𝒐𝒐𝒌 Another great read in this series. I really liked the siren sisters and their monster kings. Everybody is so special in their own way and I can‘t tell you often enough how creative the author is. The different species aren’t cliché and the author added a unique touch to each race. Zora and Bane are so hot together. He imprints on her and they mated rather quickly. I liked their banter and the way they treat each other with mutual respect. Both are possessive and jealous which was hilarious sometimes. There is a cliff hanger for the next couple too and I can‘t wait to read about the dragon king and his siren. Overall I had a fun time with this story.
𝐰𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝 𝐈 𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐛𝐨𝐨𝐤? Yes, especially if you enjoyed the previous books.
𝐭𝐫𝐨𝐩𝐞𝐬 ᡣ𐭩ྀི₊ ⊹ possessive and protective hero, instant attraction, touch her and die, forced proximity, he falls first and harder, monster king x siren, mates, urban fantasy, romcom, mates, biting, imprinting, gargoyle, he is a virgin
I love Lola Glass so much. I love her books so much. This paranormal world she has created is everything sweet, fun, funny even, magical and silly, but filled with so much love.
Zora has completely met her match in Bane and while the falling happens so fast, the love happens harder. What happens when you take an overly possessive dominate male like Bane… who also happens to shift into a gargoyle? And pair him with an equally possessive siren? Sparks I tell you! The love was so good. The spice? Whewwww it was spicy! Kicking my feet and butterflies in the stomach spicy. I was swooning.
Honestly if you guys want a fun, sexy, shorter story to read, this series is literally perfect. I can’t get enough of them. They’re short and sweet but, packed with substance. I can’t wait for Avery’s book next! Happy reading all!
Bane was perfect for Zora. She was always going to be my favorite sister, tough on the outside but loving on the inside. This one is spicy, they definitely have chemistry.
➕ - Easy and quick read - Siren x gargoyle shifter - I love that both Zora and Bane are fiery and strong. They are a great match for one another. - Zora and Bane have some great open communication. They're both straight shooters.
➖ - This is my least favorite of the series so far. - The story line felt contrived and chaotic. I wasn't invested. - This book is missing the humor and the extra oof like the others in the series. I was waiting to find out what's unique about a monster/gargoyle bond...and got nothing!
This whole series has been great so far. This one might be my favorite. I loved Bane and Zora. They fit together so well. I loved how open and honest he was with her and didn't let her retreat. I am completely here for great communication between couples.
Each book builds on the last but the Author does a great job of giving enough of a recap that it shouldn't be too confusing,.
I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Negh. At this point, I'm just trying to get through this series for completionist's sake.
The whole set up surrounding making the monsters hate Zora makes ZERO sense to me. Everybody's worried about Oscar - the demon male who imprinted on Zora. They're trying to figure a way to snap an imprint bond for him - would having the subject of the imprint PERMANENTLY MATED to another not do that in the first place?
So, I needed to sell myself as a terrible person, really, really well. I could deal with all of Monster Manor hating me, if I didn't cost Oscar his life.
The plan the inner circle cooks up is just dumb. Painting the new monster queen as public enemy number 1 just to keep one soldier alive - a soldier who attempted to manipulate this woman, mind you, (he was luring her out of the party to get her alone!) - is just stupid. It paints Bane in a bad light - makes him a weak king and a weak partner. Worse! It makes Zora out to be evil and untrustworthy.
Was NOBODY thinking about the long-term here? Even if Oscar's imprint broke that afternoon, Zora was going to be the Monster Queen FOREVER. So we're giving every monster around a terrible impression of her, making everyone think she manipulated their KING, and at the end of this, everyone's just going to be FINE with her as their king's beloved wife??????
1 and 1 ain't makin' 2 here.
Zora being all in on this drama fest didn't exactly make me like her either.
The ONLY THING that redeemed this aspect of the story was the fact that it wasn't completely devoid of action. And it wasn't like the last book, which I feared it would be.
And before I jump into the relationship stuff - let me just say, the resolution makes about as much sense as the set up. Bane just announces that "psyche, we really actually want to be mates now and if anybody challenges that I'll rip your intestines out through your mouth." and everyone's like "oh, okay, cool. Good for you man." and that's that.
Really?! NOBODY doubted even a little bit? Nobody wondered if perhaps the sneaky manipulative siren wasn't still sneakily manipulating their king into announcing what he announced?
Okay. 👍
Now the relationship.
The relationship is probably one of the most poorly orchestrated and navigated of the books I've read so far. It's ALL sex, and for Zora, it's mostly, "okay this feels good but I'm totally not going to fall for him." sex. Total lie, obviously. But the tune never changed. So all the smut got repetitive after the first time or two.
Zora is anti-anything that has to do with falling in love or being soft and emotional and vulnerable with one's mate. But we don't know why for most of the story. And I'll be honest - finding out why wasn't a good enough reason to justify her hard-headedness in my opinion. She's just, in general, not a likeable character for me. There were times it genuinely felt like she was trying too hard to be sassy.
When all of the dramatics come to an end, Zora and Bane take a 'vacation' and THAT apparently is where they really get to know one another and fall in love.
We don't get to see ANY of it. We don't even get their first I love yous. We have to wait until the epilogue months later for that.
This whole book is a big ol' nothing burger as far as character development and plot goes.
The pregnancy stuff considering the situation was just gross too. She might be pregnant, so they get rid of her implant, and then swear off sex until they know for sure - which only lasts 5 minutes.
But they totally don't love each other and she doesn't think she'll be a good mother but she really wants a baby anyway. Just, what?
Why are all of these siren characters obsessed with pregnancy all of a sudden? Most of them didn't even WANT mates in book 1.
Talon's story is next, and while I've read books 3 and 4 to get to it, I'm not confident anymore it'll have been worth it. I'm sad.
Positives (because I feel bad for being so negative about these books): 1. There's no third act breakups in any of these stories. I HAVE to give Glass props for that. 2. These books are short and are very easy to read. The writing, while abrupt, isn't bad either. 3. MOST of the characters are generally likeable.
Honestly if you enjoy spicy fantasy reads and are looking to pad your reading goal for the year, these books aren't bad options. But if you're looking for subtance? Yeah, maybe miss these.
3 stars, the same HEA story continues with Bane. I thought he would be my favorite and I would say so far, he is. But Talon- next story- might change my mind :)
I liked this one better than the last one but still the inconsistencies abound. Like when they go swimming in the Unmated Monsters pool (cool right?), no mention of chlorine or glitter where as the previous stories make a big deal about it. And later the mention of glitter for the lady parts but C-section was mentioned? Anyway, I loved the gargoyle angle and the wings, and the banter between them was good.
I did hate that Bane had to pretend to hate Zora, for whatever twisted logic, but liked the possible pregnancy plot (missing from the other books). Zora didn't track much for me in the earlier books, like Avery, so it's interesting to see
Highlights & Spoilers: “There’s been a development,” Bane said, his gaze on me. Just like it had been since the moment he entered the room. “You’ve got to be fucking kidding me,” I said flatly. “What?” Clementine looked over at me. I didn’t turn her way. “Unfortunately, I’m not,” Bane said. “What are we missing?” Blair asked. “This fuckwit imprinted on me too!” I tossed a hand in the king’s direction.
Zora is the crusty female that secretly longs for love and care: "I felt better after talking to Bane. His refusal to walk away when I was angry had actually fixed things. I didn’t like that it meant I’d need to try to do that too, but it was what it was."
Most of the story is dedicated to them finding a way to break the other monsters "imprint" to her: “She said Kai thinks all powerful males bite their mates.” Bane nodded. “He’s right. They do.” “You haven’t bitten me.” “I was waiting for the right time.” “What’s the right time?” He shrugged. “When we’re not trying to convince our people that you’re the devil incarnate.”
I liked Zora a lot more than I thought I would. Some would consider her a little abrasive when she's actually just a straight shooter and has a temper. There were some surprising revelations about her. I realized that most of her bluster was just her fear guiding her actions and thoughts, which helped me see her in a new light.
Zora was surprising. I found her to be a perfect match for Bane. He handled everything that she threw at him with an even temper. I liked Bane's calm nature but loved it when he got possessive. That was hot. If you're into monster romance, then this is a good one. I was surprised by his shifted form, but I wasn't mad about it. Haha! I liked Bane a lot. He withstood Zora with his patience, understanding, stubbornness, and love.
Love Bites Really Hard was a good read. I enjoyed the plot. It was light-hearted with a little drama from the monsters. I thought Zora would be fighting with Bane, but she was mostly fighting her own feelings. There’s only one siren left and an angry dragon king on the hunt. Avery's story is up next.
3.5 I really liked this one. It was pretty funny and Bane was perfect. I think Bane is my favorite guy from the series. And ya know I’m okay with the pregnancy at the end bc their relationship felt really believeable and good. I think Oscar and sierra getting together after one night was a bit rushed just bc of how determined he was to have Zora but maybe how long he was denied mixed with her being mated and someone else wanting him really helped. That said I did not like sierra at all or the “we’re better off without you” text. Like you both wanted and pushed for someone who was very honest about them not wanting or liking you so it was a bit of a personal problem. I’m looking forward to Avery’s book. I think it’s interesting that she’s gone for months and I’m curious why she’s gone for so long but her being happy so soon after leaving was good.

I was really worried Zora’s bitchy attitude was going to rub me the wrong way, but I loved her and I absolutely get her. She and Bane make the perfect pair. Her fire is exactly what the calm and controlled Bane needs, and he’s the stable source of support and love that Zora thought she would never have. Again we had character growth and a quickly resolved conflict. Lots of humor and spice. What can I say except fucking pick up book one and get into it already 😂
Much better.. a MFC with a backbone.. now we are talking. I still think these books could have been reduced by 25% with zero plot being impacted, quite a lot of fluff conversations or information that was just irrelevant.
*spoilers* Usually a pregnancy trope ain’t for me but I think this was done well. Glass captured a good internal conflict in bite size opportunities so it didn’t feel forced when the time came.
I love Zora and Bane!!! I was so looking forward to their story and Lola Glass absolutely delivered! This series is so fun, I love all the different creatures and rules/bios assigned to each. The relationship developed nicely in this one and I love interrogation room part 😂😂
Love bites really hard (lol) was better than the third book, mostly because of Bane. He was calmer, more level-headed and just overall a better guy than Kai. If you can put aside the very weird / very graphic smut, it’s actually an entertaining and bingeable read. But if you can’t, I’d skip it. As for me, I’m way too invested in this series to stop now… on to the last book!!!! 😂
I’m not sure what Lola Glass puts in her books but when I’m in the mood to read them I FLY through them!! At this point Lola Glass is 100% my comfort author. I just know I can turn my brain off and have a silly goofy time with her books!
Thank you for helping me get out of my slump Lola <<33
I have to say I am surprised by this one. I enjoyed it, in a way I didn't expect from a romance.
We start off with Zora knee deep in a shitty situation. She had been imprinted on by a demon named Oscar. Apparently if a monster likes someone both mentally and physically then they can imprint on the person. It only happens with unmated pairs, which is why Bane keeps all the unmated woman in a different section of Monster Manor. Its an odd situation that I understood, but found a little odd. Doing something for someone's own good often doesn't go well. You can push that person into acting irrationally or pushing against you for no other reason then they hate being told what to do. Anyways, Zora texts Bane asking for a list of unmated monster that she can try a temporary bond with. To get rid of Oscars imprint. Bane refuses saying that none of his unmated males are going to want to do that. Not to mention is would be basically handing someone over to her to be used for no other reason than she doesn't like Oscar. The conversation doesn't go over well. Bane decides to talk to his right hand man Luke. His friend points out that Bane likes her, and maybe he should just bond with her. Bane scoffs at the thought, not wanting a mate and being content in his stress filled life. Luke ends up messaging Zora convincing her to have one more conversation with Oscar to try and bridge the gap. Bane hoped that the two would just made and deal with the problem themselves. The kings and there mates bring Zora with them to a holding room where Oscar and Zora can talk. Separated the two talk through and intercom, and Zora loses her shit on him. Saying she refuses to mate with him and demands that Bane do something about it. He does something alright. Bane imprints on Zora right then and there. Now they had an even bigger problem. Bane demands that they meet in the conference room. He takes some time to deal with Oscar and talk with Luke before coming to the conference room. It is immediately clear that he has imprinted on Zora. Bane kicks everyone out so he can talk to her alone. He suggests that they mate, and they would find another way to deal with Oscar. Zora doesn't seem to resist all that much though. IN FACT she inspects him. I am not sure how I feel about this woman. She very much seems like the type of woman who would have no issue taking another mans woman. Which she kind of does, but I will get to that.
We find out that Bane is a gargoyle when he shows Zora. Shifting he shows off that ALL of him changes to stone. I mean ALL.... Zora's curiosity hitches and she ends up getting him to start to have sex with her. Immediately they are interrupted by Oscar barging in. Not what you want...Oscar gets dragged out going ballistic. At this point I felt like I was reading what was essentially a soap opera...not a bad one either if I am honest. Bane and Zora head to his room. Bane and her start going at it when there is a knock on his door. Bane wants to ignore it knowing that it was most likely his mother. Zora wants to go to the door and heads in that direction before Bane says they need to seal the bond. Zora had put her mark around his neck in the conference room when they were fucking, so it was Banes turn. Something he does so gently I think I actually squeed out loud. Very romantic...if you take away the fact that Banes mother is outside the door. Wanting to make sure that his mother knew what was going on, she pulled Banes fingers between her folds and makes him rub her release on his lips. Gargoyles have heightened smell, so his mother would know exactly what they were doing. When they open there, Bane's mother is standing there next to a woman who she introduces as Sierra. Apparently his mother had been trying to set them both up as a species match for there race. It was supposed to be a forced mating, but Bane doesn't want it. She had apparently been trying to get them together for over a century. A fact I found annoying, but mother in law tropes can't be ignored here. Overbearing, she gets angry about Bane choosing to be with someone else. Bane puts up the defense that he imprinted and there was nothing that can be done. Zora closes the door in there faces. Sierra had stood by silently crying the entire time.
Now I don't like Sierra. For many reasons that only get confirmed throughout the book. She is weirdly selfish and seems to think she has a right to Bane because she is a gargoyle and Zora isn't. Which is pure insanity. Also kind of racist.
Zora takes a bath while Bane deals with talking with Luke, and the council. When he is finished he comes in to find Zora floating quietly in the water. He noticed her phone dinged on the floor. Oscar had texted her. He said he would have her in his arms soon. Bane crushed her phone. It was kind of adorable. Although it left Zora without a phone. She needed it to be replaced.
They spend the night together. Zora tucked into his arms with his wing over top. It was different for her, but she liked it. She touched his wing, and Bane let her know they were sensitive.
Morning rolled around, and when Zora woke up she couldn't avoid that Bane was hard sitting between her legs. The two went at it together. This is when Bane thinks to tell her about how the imprint will make her implant for birth control not work and there is a chance that she could end up pregnant. He says there is a herb she needs to take that they get from the Fae. Zora kind of freaks out and says she needs to find out if her sister brought her stuff. Bane calls Luke and he brings her stuff up, and Bane takes out her coffee maker. Setting it up on the counter of the kitchen in there small apartment. Zora shows him how to make her coffee and the two sit on the balcony talking. Zora then joins Bane for a day of meetings with her sitting on his lap, and him trying to pretend he doesn't want her desperately. Convincing any of the unmated males that came to complain that Zora was indeed the evil woman that they wanted them to believe. She used her magic, which also didn't help the way things were. The two go to dinner with the unmated men after she gets him off with a blowjob. Something that relaxes Bane a little but not enough to take all the tension away. She sells her role so perfectly that on the way back to there room she needs to calm Bane down. He was having a hard time keeping things together.
They get back to there room and Oscar has locked them out of there room. Bane breaks the door down. Zora has a bath while Bane speaks to Luke about the door. Fixing it, and then coming into the bathroom to talk with Zora. They decided that they needed to wait until she had her period before they could do anymore. The two go to bed and have a restful nights sleep.
There is this adorable thing that happens with coffee. Apparently monsters don't like the smell or taste of the morning brew (which baffles me to no end, but I love coffee so meh.)
It goes on like for a few days. Zora convinces the unmated males well enough that they begin to glare at her. Pushing Bane further to the edge. Zora gets an invite from Clementine to come and visit at her pool. Zora convinces Bane that he could use some down time together to relax. They go and have a good time, staying late with Bane drinking with the other kings. They are on there way back to there room when Bane suggests that they go for a fly. Zora teases that he is drunk but gladly gives in. He tells her to run so that he can catch her and they can turn the experience into a sexually intense game. It excites Zora and she has fun being caught and carried off by Bane. They return landing near a camera. *If I didn't mention earlier Oscar is in charge of all the security of Monster Manor* The two start fooling around when the camera hones in on them, pissing Bane off. A fire alarm quickly rings drawing everyone's attention. Bane knows it was Oscars fault, and he was finally calling him out for a fight. Oscar firmly believes that Bane stole the one he was meant to be with. I can't honestly blame Oscar, he is under the magic of the imprint and some of his obsession can be explained away.
Zora and Bane are in the hallway when Oscar catches up with them. He challenges Bane to a battle to the death for Zora. Zora gets the idea that Sierra can help solve the problem. If they put the two of them into the conference room then they might be able to break the imprint with a new one. Something that one of the females had told her earlier in this book.
I forgot to mention, and I think this is important. Sierra ends up interacting with Zora several times over. Sierra basically tells Zora that she is stopping them from populating the gargoyle race, and claims she isn't ready to be queen. Sierra also asks for Bane's sperm to be donated. This woman is basically insane, and I am not sure she should be with anyone. Despite what I think they toss both Sierra and Oscar into the conference room with food. Sealing the door behind Oscar once Bane throws him inside. During this altercation, one of the unmated females that Zora had grown close to; Layla, ends up helping out and as a result Luke imprints on her. Not a bad thing though, the two instantly hit it off and seal there bond before the night is over. I am sure Layla wanted to have a mate, and on some level so did Luke. I found it adorable.
Once Bane threw Oscar in the room, he turned and asked where his mate was. The crowd split for Bane to walk through. He waited only a moment before he grabs her and bites Zora on the neck. An act of him claiming her in front of the entire Monster community that had been in the hallway because of the fire alarm and the altercation with Oscar. Bane confesses that everything was a ruse, that he loved and wanted his mate. He also threatened that if anyone didn't accept it they could either leave or have an unwanted introduction to a coffin. The two return to there room and spend some much needed time together. Having fun ;) Zora wakes up the next morning with a blanket over top of her. She locates a note Bane had left, letting her know he was checking on the Oscar situation and having a meeting with the inner circle. Zora gets upset because she felt abandoned by Bane. Waking up without him being there felt wrong. I have to point out here that Bane signed the note "Love Bane". It was a confession I don't think Zora took any notice of. I legit sat and stared at the words for a few minutes feeling my heart squeeze. These two are surprisingly adorable. Not wanting to cater to the fact that Bane told her to message when she woke, Zora grabbed the coffee he made her and went to the balcony. Spending the time talking with her sisters, before Bane messages. He says that the kings know what happened and he didn't tell them. Zora says she told her sisters, because she didn't think it needed to be a secret. Bane says it didn't but wanted to know why she didn't tell him she was awake. Zora didn't want to answer right away, but eventually gives in to tell him that she didn't like to wake up alone. As revenge she sent him a picture of her playing with herself to make him jealous. Bane immediately comes back to there room. The two talk intimately before breaking down and having sex.
Bane and Zora get called to the King and Queen meeting(since now four out of five of the Kings have Queens). They go...and the moment Zora steps in the room Talon loses his shit. Like flips out over the fact that he had been saying for a LONG time that he needed a siren. He demand that they hand the last one over or he was going to start a war. The four supernatural mated kings stand up, Bane ONCE again informs Talon that they had been willing to help from the beginning. That he only needed to tell them why. Talon storms out in a rage. The group talks about protecting Avery. I did not like this scene because everyone but Zora was acting like Avery wasn't a person with her own thoughts and feelings. Luckily they come to the conclusion that she can be put with the female monster for protection, and go to tell Avery the GREAT news. I say that sarcastically....
Avery refuses for a short time during the talk, and then agrees when it is pointed out that they would have to start a war if Talon stole her. Otherwise the whole of the supernatural world wouldn't take the Kings seriously. That ANYONE would be able to come and take a siren from them without issue. It wasn't something any of the men were willing to risk. Avery gives in, but Zora can tell that her sister had been lying. She hugs her close, and asks if she knows what she is doing. Avery assures that she isn't going to let Talon take advantage of her. Morning rolls around and Avery is missing. Leaving behind a note to tell her sisters and their mates to be happy. To go on with there lives, and she would return as soon as she could. It comes out that Zora knew and Clementine and Blair get bent out of shape. It makes me like these woman less, which bothers me, because I thought they were different kinds of characters. Maybe that one is on me for not thinking about Blairs protective nature, or Clementine's sensitivity.
Over a few weeks though the sisters slowly forgive Zora. Its also then that they finally get a message from Avery. She sends a picture of her flying on the back of a dragon with a huge smile on her face, and a bite on her neck. Saying Talon wasn't forcing a bond, that she was happy, and Talon really just needed a siren for something. Once again assuring them that she would return home soon.
There is a scene at the end of the book where Banes mother comes and brings Zora mint chocolate and mint water for her. Bridging the gap between the two and showing that Zora will make a great daughter in law.
There are two epilogues in this book...The first one is from Banes perspective. The two are on holiday and Zora is throwing up in a toilet. She is insisting that her week long sickness has to be a stomach flu, but Bane can smell the difference. He knows she is pregnant, but he needs Zora to see it in order for her to believe him. He gets her to take a test, and it comes up positive. The sick Zora is happy, but still hugging the toilet. I know this feeling! It SUUUUUUUUUCKS!
The second epilogue is from Zora's point of view. She is sitting in the pool with Bane working at a desk he had pulled in. He was taking care of his mate every step through the pregnancy. Zora was a few days from having the babies, and Clementine is trying to convince he sister to have a baby shower. Zora scoffs because she can barely move around. She was carrying twins. One gargoyle and the other a siren. I found it interesting that they got one of each. Apparently Sierra and Oscar had had a baby already, and it was a male gargoyle. Yes, the two weirdos mated. Lol. Zora ends up agreeing to let her sisters come to her as long as they bring her burgers. Everything is happy, and this is where the couple finally says I love you out loud. A beautiful ending, tied up in a nice neat bow... well everything with Bane and Zora was tied up...Now we are just left with Avery. Wonder how Talon will deal with her just coming to him like that. We will find out...for now this one is my second favorite in the series!

It's a super cute, funny and spicy romance saga with each book featuring one of the five sisters' love stories. You could technically read any of them as a stand alone, but they are best read in order to enjoy the character development and events as they happen chronologically.
The basic premise is this world has various types of magical creatures in addition to humans, and the majority of them live in the magical capital city of Mistwood. There are five "leaders" (really functionally Kings) who each rule a faction - Vampires, Werewolves/animal shifters, Fae, Monsters, and Dragons respectively. They rule from the Manor, a huge building with wings for each faction surrounding a central neutral hub.
The main characters are 5 Siren sisters - closely related to vampires, but they drink emotions through kissing instead of drinking blood. Since they are rare, and this is a highly pleasurable experience for the subject, sirens are highly sought after and any unmated sirens are in danger of being forced into an unwanted bond for their magic.
Book 1 - Blair mated with Vampire King Damian Book 2 - Izzy mated with Werewolf Alpha Porter Book 3 - Clem mated with Fae King Kai
Here in book four we pick up with an unmated monster having just imprinted on Zora, the least romantic of the bunch. She was just looking to channel her sisters and enjoy a no-strings one night stand, so the demon suddenly declaring his love and obsessing over her is a big no-go. Unfortunately, the only way to break the imprint without causing an all out war with the monsters is to either bond with someone else and hope that snaps him out of it, or have her new mate kill him. Unfortunately, (but fortunately 😉) in the process of trying to work things out for her, the monster king Bane (a gargoyle) also imprints on her and they end up sealing a mating bond.
Zora is feisty and stubborn and does her best to get what she wants despite having basically all choice taken away from her. Bane jokingly offers to let her test ride his giant stone gargoyle dick before they seal the bond and she calls him on it like "bet" and is only mildly flustered when they get walked in on moments later. She agrees to play the role of evil seductress to try to get the monsters all on the same side (of Bane and the other guy, and against her) rather than starting in internal split between monsters backing each suitor. She is nervous to trust Bane having watched her mother in an abusive relationship, but he patiently proves to her that he is trustworthy and will do anything for her. They literally can't manage to stop having sex (yes , kinky gargoyle sex🔥) once they start, and they have a high potential for pregnancy due to the imprint, so that becomes a big discussion point for them early on. Zora starts out with a really closed off personality, but Bane makes her feel safe enough to open up and thrive in her new home and role.
Love Bites Really Hard is book 4 in the Mated to the King series and even though I have loved them all, this book and this couple are my absolute favorites! If you haven’t read the first three books, I would highly recommend, as each of the sister’s stories are unique and give a glimpse into the cool world that Ms. Glass created.
FMC Zora is the caretaker sister, which I really related to. She is always looking out for her sisters but has no one to look out for or to take care of her. After imprinting on a monster at a party, she turns to MMC Bane (King of the monsters) for help. He likes that she is beautiful and feisty and he imprints on her as well!
Bane is one dirty-talking gargoyle! He also has wings (which are… sensitive), calls her Sweetheart, and thinks that her annoyance is adorable. He wants to learn how to make her coffee the way that she likes it even though he hates coffee.
“All of this is really overwhelming.” “I know, Sweetheart.” “I’m still not your sweetheart.” His lips curved upward, and he lifted my hand from his chest to his lips, brushing a kiss to my knuckles. “Yes, you are.” Fine, maybe I was.
He grows on her quickly and even though she is not flowery and does not want romance she is very sweet with him. I love how strong she is and flexible, and willing to adapt and do what needs to be done to make things right in his kingdom.
Their banter had me laughing and smiling nonstop. He just got her and loved her exactly as she was and would not let even herself deter him.
“I was going to be alone forever. I wanted it that way.” I hadn’t really wanted it that way. I’d hoped for a family. Love. Kids. Staying alone forever had just seemed like the only way to prevent myself from repeating the cycle. “You can be alone forever with me.”
This man!!!!!
Zora and Bane got two epilogues and an amazing HEA. Cannot wait for the last sister, Avery’s book and to see what she gets up to with Talon!!
