Drenaline Surf #4

With You Around

Rate this book
Haley Sullivan has never been one to play the villain, but after learning who is blackmailing Drenaline Surf, that's exactly what she's asked to do. After alienating her friends and moving into Colby Taylor's house, she embraces the role of the prime suspect, hoping the real blackmailer will relax and slip up.

Keeping up her cover is tough, though, as dark secrets come into light and battle lines are drawn among friends. And the Brooks brothers? That's another matter of tangled heart strings all on its own.

In this final installment of the Drenaline Surf series, skeletons are unearthed, relationships are shattered, and lives are changed. The Drenaline Surf family will quickly learn exactly what 'family' means, and more so, who is and isn't part of that family.

This has taken forever to write, but for many reasons.
1) I had to revel in the Drenaline Surf series a little longer. It has been a huge thing for me. I started reading it when I broke my leg last year, and I fell in love with the characters, Drenaline Surf, and Nikki Godwin's writing.
2) I've actually read it twice. (Yeah, its that good)

I don't think I could have asked for a better ending to this series. I think the character development was thorough and believable. Although it may not have been exactly my OTP, I loved the way it was done. So many things get tied up in WYA, and I can say that it was done in a way that wasn't rushed, and didn't leave holes, which is easy to do when there is so much to cover. The author has been awesome throughout the release. And I want to mention that, too. I'm not a series person (other than Six of Crows--lol) and sometimes you can feel the author losing love for the characters and plot near the end. That was NOT the case with WYA at all. I feel that side characters I loved got just as much closer as the MCs. Overall, I wish I could rate this higher.

This was such a great conclusion to the series! I feel like everyone and everything is where they/it should be. Like it all makes sense again and that the family is whole. The plot is great even though, once again, it's very light on the romance... I didn't really mind it. BUT, if you're reading this, just be aware, this does not qualifiy as a romance series in my opinion. I really enjoyed all the revelations even though they weren't really surprising to me as I recently followed the author on instagram. I'm a bit sad about it but it didn't taint my reading experience too much. I was very emotional on several occasions; Colby's secret made me so sad. But I'm glad of where is at now.
Overall this was a good series, which evolves from book 1 to book 4, from a light summer read to gripping slices of life, with (maybe a bit too much?) drama in the middle. I love the idea of chasing down your forever ♡

If you haven't read these series and you are even a tiny bit into surfing, these are awesome books. I thoroughly enjoyed this series and applaud Nikki Godwin for writing about the surf scene. It is well put together with great references to the current surf world.
It may come across as a bit cheesy, especially this last book, but I really love well rounded endings :) So I am very happy with it, although at the same time sad that it has ended now.

Thank you Nikki Godwin! :)

This was a fantastic ending to a great series! Nikki always creates such amazing characters who I'd be friends with in real life if I could. I laughed and teared up multiple times throughout the book and loved where the story went and ended. So many feels! This book if perfect for you if you love YA contemporary beach reads with amazing friendships, a touch of love, and an inspiring story line. I definitely need to chase my forever down now.

I guess I liked this book better than nr 2 and 3. Luckily.

After the end of the series, some questions remain:
- how did Haley go from hating Colby to being soulmates?
- why did Vin have to vanish? (if it were a tvshow you'd think the actor had to go to rehab or something)
- was the love triangle really necessary?
- what happened to Linzi? to Haleys parents? anyone from her former life?
- how fast did they build the new hotel on the carneval grounds?!??

Talk about coming full circle. From the time Winterini was confirmed and that series on permanent hiatus, I was hoping for another ship to go down with. The whole idea of Colby and Jake was (in my mind) brilliant and gave the characters more depth. While I am sad that the series is over (as who ever wants these things to end) I feel it ended well and I hope for more books (as I always do) soon.

It was really nice to go back to Crescent Cove and see what was going on with the Drenaline Surf gang so yeah, I really enjoyed this. A.J. remains my favorite character and I just really liked the characters as a whole. It's a good summer read. However, I did go back and read the entire series again after reading this the first time (because, yes, I did read it twice) and found myself with some questions...

I've been following this series since the beginning and I absolutely loved every minute of it.
Nikki brings us on a journey of not only romance, but fun mixed in with drama and mystery-- there's truly a bit of everything to accommodate your tastes.
With You Around was the perfect ending to a series that I personally loved. It made me cry, it made me laugh, it made me scream and it made me so proud to call myself one of Nikki's readers.
