Who doesn’t love a garlic roll?

Broken Demon is the first captivating instalment in Dante St. John’s dark paranormal urban fantasy series, blending elements of heated romance, magic, demons, and a post-apocalyptic world, all featuring garlic rolls.

I didn’t want the story to end because it showcased effortless writing. The witty banter made me laugh, while the action kept me engaged, and the steamy moments added to the excitement. The story features a few quirky, badass misfits who are strong, sassy, and likable. The excellent world-building allows readers to easily lose track of time among the pages.

Broken Demon is an outstanding paranormal action thriller, and Dante’s clever, multilayered plot is one that no one should miss. I can’t wait to get my hands on the second book, Broken Angel, which continues Ivy’s story.

Broken Demon: Blackout Edition is a highly entertaining, action packed, paranormal romance thriller. Andromeda, the main character, is relatable and accessible, down to her weakness for warm garlic rolls. The post-apocalyptic world she navigates is filled with the wonders that are supernatural and scientific in nature. If you like sci-fi and fantasy, you will find both of those itches satisfied here. For those romantasy fans out there, if you enjoy touch her and die vibes, this is the book for you. Dante St. John has put in the work and has fashioned a story that has a very universal appeal. You will not regret reading it and enjoy getting your hands dirty fighting crime, interrogating all sorts of supernatural monsters, and fighting for your life, through the eyes of this young heroine. Prepare to dive in and not want to come up for air until the next book comes out.

I could NOT put this down! Andi is my kind of girl! She is funny, witty, and an all-around bada**. Viktor had me from the moment he sends those rolls. This story was amazing and so easy for me to put myself into - which, for me, is how to get my attention and stars. It had almost everything I look for in a book - it was just missing the spice, which was in the original version if you're looking 😉. I cannot wait for the next one! If you like the paranormal, romance, and butt kicking... then this is definitely something for you!

‘Humanity was still trying to recover from the end of the world twenty years ago. The Breaking essentially threw us back into the Dark Ages. Technology crashed in its entirety. Cars, computers, phones, hell, even lights, stopped working all at once. Then alternate realities collided, and all the monsters from our nightmares suddenly lived on the same planet as us. It’d been a clusterfuck ever since. And I had the dubious pleasure of working for a company of mercenaries specifically trained in countering supernatural bs.’

Broken Demon is the first book in the After Breaking series, and debut novel by Dante St John. Being a debut novel, I really wasn’t sure of what I could expect from one Of Ms. St John’s stories, but the cover and blurb intrigued me enough to want to find out. This proved to be a really great read and I found that I loved my time between Ms. St John’s covers.
This is a dark paranormal romance/urban fantasy with a post-apocalyptic element, demons, the supernatural, paranormal characters, chemistry, tension, spice, action, adventure, dramatic developments, danger, intrigue, a mercenary crew, pulse-pounding discoveries, emotion, and a feisty snarky sarcastic witty kick-a FMC who won me over from the very first page. Hello … garlic rolls and bunny slippers for the win here 😉
As I mentioned above, I loved Andromeda right from the get-go, and her witty, sarcastic inner dialogue gave the story and extra element of interest and fun. But she proved to be so much more – then adding Viktor to the mix I was well and truly hooked, following along on the adventure and reading well past my bedtime just so I could find out how everything played out in the end.
Ms. St John is definitely an author to keep an eye out for in the future, and I look forward to reading much more of her work.
Happy Reading…

***the story includes subject matter that could be triggering for some readers, so I recommend checking those out before diving into the book.

I finished this lovely book! And OMG! So that plot this I mention definitely took one heck of a spin and kept me invested! I am so glad I read it and genuinely winder if this will turn into a series because it was left on a cliff hanger in the epilogue. If it turns into a series I will definitely be buying it (excuse me as I run to Google to look it up!)
So I love Andromeda obviously she is hilarious, a bad a** and her inner dialogue makes me laugh so much!
And Viktor well just YUM! And his shadow demon cracks me up! He is so VOILENT! His shadow just be out here unaliving other shadows it gets near. Everytime it did that just had me audibly giggling. All in all I genuinely enjoyed the book and can't wait to read more from this lovely author!

Andromeda Stirling is a kick-ass breath of fresh air in a fallen world consumed by creatures of chaos. She is the Inquisitor - deadly tool of questioning used by the Island. She meets Viktor by chance and the ensuing whirlwind of lightning punches, fighting monsters, garlic bread, and a budding romance will sweep you off your feet. This closed-door edition of Broken Demon offers all the fun of the original without the spice - perfect for readers who prefer their romance a little bit on the tamer side.

Keep your eye out for more from Dante St. John!

I received this edition as an ARC in exchange for an honest review. My thoughts are my own.

This book had me at garlic bread rolls! But seriously, I was captivated and drawn in from the first few pages and quickly grew to love the female main character. The pace and plot are great and you are pulled into the narrative. I love the apocalyptic new reality and a world where all who survived the end of the world catastrophe, are now having to find a way to populate earth and share its resources whilst establishing new laws and new governance across the globe. Lots of monsters and beings are now living alongside whats left of the human poplulation. What could possibly go wrong? Great read... highly recommend!

This is a good read with twists and turns in it. It is the spineless version of the original but sometimes I prefer that. Leaves more to the imagination. I could see this potentially becoming a movie or tv series in the future.

This author is a very skilled writer. The only reason I'm leaving a 3/5 is because it wasn't my taste. But that doesn't mean it won't be yours. Please give her a try she really is good.
