The line between love and hate isn’t fine—it’s a six-lane highway with rush hour traffic.
Alfie Bishop likes his life how he likes his wine—well-crafted and predictable. Granted, since his divorce, predictable has verged on boring. He’s had more meaningful conversations with his plants than with women. But that doesn’t mean he needs to change. Especially not for the woman who humiliated him in front of an important client and makes a sport of pushing his buttons.
Surrounded by her friends’ happily ever afters, Lauren Masterson is resigned to a life of one-night stands and perpetual first dates. No matter how many book boyfriends she collects, real men never seem to live up to her expectations. If her archenemy Alfie is any example, she's better off alone than with a man like him.
Living on opposite coasts keeps their mutual hatred from burning too hot. But when Alfie arrives at Mailbox, Inc. to help out a friend, the pair can't stop running into each other—literally and figuratively.
They could bury the hatchet, but pushing each other to the point of breaking is so much more fun.
Author’s note: Editor-in-Chief is the steamy conclusion to the Mailbox, Inc. series but can be read as a standalone. This enemies-to-lovers, forced-proximity romance is filled with innuendo, banter, and explosive attraction, with a happily ever after guaranteed.
I love a well-written, strong woman with a platinum backbone who doesn't back down or change herself just because she met a guy. Lauren is my hero. Sassy and self-aware, knows what she wants and pursues it relentlessly, and doesn't let a guy throw her life out of whack. My favorite of the series!
"ARC Review" This book is such an amazing fun read. The second I started this book I felt great about the pace and the storyline. Even though I started at the end of the book series I felt like I knew all the characters since the beginning. Lauren is a very independent woman who had to learn how to grow up and care for herself very fast. She talks to her cat because since all her friends are in great relationships now, she feels even more lonely than ever. Alfie has been living life with the same routine for a while now. After his first and only love left him all he had left was his plants. Don't the two already seem to be a perfect match? Well, that's not all. They are nemesis after there was an incident when Alfie got hired at Mailbox. But the universe has its own plan when his friends Theo, the new husband to her best friend Sophie, wants to surprise his new wife with a winery. A freaking winery! Like please find me a man like that. I want my own winery asap! This book seems so perfect; all I could feel during the book is happy and freaking hot 🌶️! The references in her reading books as well were fun to read about as well. I definitely have to read the other two books very soon. !!COMING OUT JULY 20th!!
Fancy Roberts has outdone herself with the conclusion of the Mailbox, Inc. series. Lauren and Alfie are both hot as hell. But together? They're a hotter-than-hades, melt-your-kindles inferno of a power couple. I was certain after reading Chief-of-Security that no man would ever steal my heart the way Julian did. But along came Alfie with his dirty mouth, British accent, and wicked banter, and I fell hard and fast.
Ever since Lauren was introduced in Bastard-in-Chief, I anticipated her story, knowing her HEA would be hard-fought but well-deserved. And Fancy not only served, she DELIVERED. This book made me laugh out loud, squirm with anticipation, and seek out a fan for those steamy scenes. But beyond the humor and heat, the book was full of plenty of heart as well. These characters were flawed and had plenty of past demons to slay. But Alfie and Lauren's HEA was worth the fight and more than worth the read.
I can't wait to recommend this book to everyone I know. If you're looking for a good laugh, explosive chemistry, and witty banter, this book is for you!
From the moment Lauren was introduced in Bastard in Chief, I knew her story would be one for the books—and it did not disappoint. Lauren is everything I aspire to be when I grow up…despite the fact that I am very much already a grown woman 😅
I’ve loved every single one of Fancy’s stories, but this one is going to hold a special place in my heart. Lauren deserved all the happiness in the world, and I’m so glad she found it! And Alfie…listen, I told Fancy this and I’ll say it here—he was the hot, snarky, British plant daddy I didn’t know I needed in my life. Absolute perfection. The way he and Lauren traded insults like it was an Olympic sport? I cackled. Their banter was hilarious, and I adored how they stayed true to themselves while loving and accepting each other, flaws and all.
The epilogue wrapped the series beautifully. Yes, these are romance novels, but at their core, they’re also about the kind of deep, loyal friendships most people only dream of. Lauren’s bond with Sophie was one of my favorite parts of the book—it tugged at my heartstrings in the best way. Lauren is tough yet vulnerable, brilliantly written, and definitely one of my favorite FMCs (though I may have said that about every single one Fancy’s given us 😅).
Long story short: if you want to laugh, swoon, and maybe blush a little…read the damn book. Respectfully, please.
Lord, have mercy. This may have been the hottest book I've read so far this year. The banter was perfection. The anticipation drove me wild. And the chemistry was a raging, out-of-control fire. Lauren and Alfie were truly the perfect match with their stubborn heads and hearts of gold. Fancy warned us that "The line between love and hate isn’t fine—it’s a six-lane highway with rush hour traffic," and she wasn't kidding. Alfie and Lauren's hate-to-love journey was quick and dirty and more of a thrill than I bargained for.
And that supply closet scene? Holy forking shirt balls. I didn't know my jaw could drop that fast or that my thighs could clench so hard (sorry, not sorry. #IFKYK).
This book broke my rating scale. It deserves more than five stars for the banter alone and a minimum of seven on my heat scale.
Now if you'll excuse me, I'm off to talk to my plants to see if Alfie's method of madness actually works.
Editor in Chief, book 3 of Mailbox Inc by Fancy Roberts & @fancyrobertsauthor is a new to me author. I received this #ARCBook early and for my honest review.
Lauren, a marketing manager, works with Alfie, a headhunter, & they love to push each other's buttons. 😂 Lauren helps Alfie with his friend’s request. They spend days together & they hate flirt non-stop. Lauren goes on a date with someone else & there were no sparks. Boo! She comes home & Alfie is there. They have sex & agree to be sex buddies while he is in town. He completes his friend's request & goes home without telling Lauren. Lauren is so upset. He realizes he misses her. He goes back to see Lauren & tells her he loves her. Lauren tells him she loves him too. 🥰
I read this book in a day, it was that good! I love how the two enemies become close, it feels so genuine. I love how the racial difference, the cultural difference is shown with subtle touches. Everything just flows. I could certainly relate to Lauren's sheer loneliness, the realisation that you cannot call on anyone when in an emergency. The notion you have to be strong, all the time. I loved how, eventually, she overcomes it. I also love how Lauren is sexual, and unapologetic about it. This is a book of love, but also of friendship, of resilience and independence. And how being in a relationship doesn't mean you aren't independent any more. Another masterpiece from Fancy Roberts!
Editor in Chief was a great read. Lauren and Alfie’s “hatred” for each other and the tension when they interact boils over into an electrifying relationship. I wish there had been more of their HEA at the end, but I loved this book and the whole Mailbox Inc. series. If you love strong characters with real human issues, strong friendship, lots of spice and just the right kind of hero, you will love this series. Editor in chief is the last of the three books in the series. Can’t wait to read the Sunshine Cellars books when they come out.
This book was not what I was expecting, in the best way! I knew it was a workplace romance and I was expecting the usual, workplace drama, steamy scenes, sweet scenes. That was all there. What I didn't expect was the hilarious banter between the FMC and MMC. I was literally laughing out loud. It is enemies to lovers, and these "Nemesis'" really know how to push each other's buttons. Robert's even makes fun of the Third Act breakup IN the book. It was great to watch these two develop their relationship and watch them fall for each other. I really enjoyed it.
Alfie and Lauren have a very comical relationship. What starts out of them being enemies is just a good enjoyable book. They bicker and argue all the time and it’s funny because you never know what they’re going to say to one another. They both are dealing with things and they end up helping one another through those times and help move on. It’s a cute book, the beginning it took me a little bit to get into it but once the bickering and bantering starts it pulls you in.
