It’s a simple truth, that I too often neglect, but the universal commonality about everyone we teach is they have a brain, and this is like a demystifying instruction manual for how the brain works and learns. I wish I had read this 10 years ago!
I’ve stumbled upon bit and pieces of this, though mostly watered down, and jacked some of these tools from great teachers, but this explicitly and comprehensively puts the tools of cognitive science all in one very helpful place. It’s relevant and the authors practice what they preach, making the content really approachable and applicable.
Highly recommended for teachers, leaders, parents and anyone who helps others learn.
If you’re still reading and the length of this review hasn’t caused cognitive overload, I also need you to know that Cullen is the book club king, and he is 99% responsible for my encoding of this new learning to my long term memory.
