12/29/25 - TBH ML's little canines/"tiger teeth" are living rent free in my head. Just ... super adorable. And his purple eyes. I think he might be the first ML I've read in a cnovel with purple eyes? Which obviously I'd love that. And I was really mad at him for a bit but he more than made up for it in so many ways.
TBH the problem was FL - like ... girl was Not. Bright. This fell into a lot of xianxia tropes and just ... *sigh* - I mean I overall liked it but it was NOT the author's best, and I can definitely see why the GR rating is lower than the NU one, and I think the GR one is much more accurate.
Maybe in part is when reading it I knew it'd be adapted to a drama and ... well the drama is going to be a fucking mess and I see them just picking up/harping on all the most worst aspects of this. Although the premise was super interesting - great set up.
I don't see myself re-reading this book - would much rather reach for another one by this author. Would still look for more/other books by this author.

Very fun story! Balances humor, action, and emotions very well. Cui Xiaoxiao is silly but also smart and loyal to those she cares about. The bond between the Lingshan Talisman Sect (the four of them) was a highlight for me. I liked how their relationships were written and how they came to grow together. The plot was interesting with all the identity reveals and revelations about what's going on in the background. Some plot points I saw coming while others surprised me.
However I felt the ending was kind of abrupt and it does start to feel info dumpy in the last 2 chapters. This also might not be the best for someone getting into the xianxia/cultivation genre. The terms and titles aren't explained so you'll either know it or don't know it.
