DREAMS, is the first book in a trilogy called, The Burning. As soon as I began reading Dreams, I noticed how quickly I was immersed into Margo's frame of mind, her lifestyle and how she saw herself. The author, Missy Reynolds held my attention from the start with her clever ability to keep me intrigued and wandering what will happen next. I was pulled into the next chapter with anticipation, as she always delivered a great story line and never disappointed. Her way with words is so compelling and descriptive, that you feel like you are in the middle of the plot. I was never bored with the two main characters, Bastian and Margo, as their inner struggles would unfold, begging for answers. The connection between them was so well portrayed, I felt like I knew them. I loved how the emotions ran deep, revealing their innocent souls, who are now being overshadowed by something evil that lurks in darkness waiting to steal their destiny. I can tell the author spent time choosing her words carefully, as to convey the imagery she was picturing. She did an awesome job helping the reader "see" into her world. There were such amazing fight scenes and consequences revealed by decisions made. The celestial realm was described with vivid detail, emotions run wild, effecting each character and the reader. I loved all the supernatural activity that opens up the truth of what goes on behind the veil. I love stories that reveal spiritual warfare in the unseen world parallel with our human world. This is both a love story and an action adventure. if you are interested in Angels and how they work for you, this is a great read for you. Overall, Dreams is a captivating read, leaving book lovers hungry for more. I think all ages will enjoy this book, not just young adults. This was a good, wholesome novel. I rate this one a five out of a five star rating. I now have a favorite new author, Missy Reynolds. The cliff hanger ending adds more questions and excitement as to what happens next. I'm greatly looking forward to the sequel.
NOTE: THIS IS A GREAT READ for PARENTS who ARE LOOKING for AN ALTERNATIVE to TWILIGHT for their TEENS!!!
"Dreams" wasn't really my cup of tea and I can't say I enjoyed reading this book. I think it started off very clichè with Margo being the invisible high school girl trying to fit in and then a hot guy moves in next door and falls in love with her. There was a poem called the Warrior Princess and I really liked it and I felt like the book had a turning point and got better after it. The storyline was good and it had potential but I don't know if it was the characters or the lack of action that got me bored while reading it. "Dreams" was very religious so while some people would think everything that happened to the characters was totally made up and fiction, I think there are people that actually believes that these things do happen in reality. I probably won't read the next books in the trilogy and that's why I gave it 2 stars.
I was given a copy of "dreams: The Burning Trilogy" by the author, Missy Reynolds, in exchange for an honest review. Dreams is a YA Christian Paranormal. I liked the story line. he characters need some rounding out, they were a bit shallow. I liked the fact that it was supernatural good versus evil story. The message of faith isn't too sappy, it follows the storyline. This can be a stand alone story as it ends in a good place. My opinion is that the book is best suited for ages 12-18. I give it three stars, I liked the book.
