This Taylor and Travis-inspired fake dating/sports romance was a fun, light read. It definitely leans heavily into Swiftie territory with a few unexpected twists. While the back half of the book feels like it forces some unnecessary spice at times, it was still an easy read and I appreciated it for the levity it brings to an otherwise heavy TBR. Swifties will enjoy the Easter eggs throughout the book and fake dating trope lovers will likely love this too. I was grateful to receive an ARC copy of this!

4.5 stars. I enjoyed the characters and felt they were well developed. The female characters had me laughing a lot. I found Hunter relatable and wish we had some more information/resolution (even if it's not good)with his family. I am so excited for the next book.

This was a really cute sports romance! While the plot is definitely unrealistic, I still really enjoyed the book!
The fmc Elodie was sweet, but very naive. I really was hoping she would have a moment where she stood up for herself. Then Stella… I wanted to like her for Elodie’s sake… but I ended the book not like her at all. I’m anxious to read about her in future books, and I hope she starts not only standing up for herself, but also her sister.
Hunter was reformed bad boy goals! My favorite character, by far! I felt like he was the most mature character, and had the best character development.
I loved the mc’s relationship and their banter. Elodie was the perfect character to help Hunter face his trauma with his dad and his team. I loved their dialogue and how supportive they were to one another, even while they were team FD (fake dating!) Also, did the team ever fave Hunter’s biggest fear?! Did I miss it or was that a plot hole? I usually don’t pick up on plot holes… so I very well could’ve missed that one! Also, loved QB Jake! I know he’s into Aria… but I kinda would’ve liked to have him face Nina… that could’ve been a fun dynamic…. Strong, ball-busting Nina vs. Jake… it would’ve been fun to see him be submissive to her!
Overall, if you love a good, spicy, sports romcom, pick this one up! It was entertaining and as a Swiftie, I loved the Taylor + Travis vibes!

I was honored in reviewing Faking Ties as an ARC in return for an honest review.
I really enjoyed this story. The twists and turns kept the story interesting and I was wanting to know what happened next.
Elodie has taken on the task as switching places with well known super star Stella Wilde. She gets offered this opportunity after a viral TikTok showing Elodie doing a rendition of one of Stella’s song at an open mic night one night. With the switching of places, Elodie needs to make appearances as Stella to different events. At her very first event, Elodie stumbles and none other than Hunter Holt catches her.
Elodie and Hunter’s story started off with quite the cute meet cute. He helped her when she stumbled at an event she was trying to get through. He is instantly smitten by her.
The banter between the two and just chemistry that you can just feel between them was great. I loved it all.

This book was an interesting read. It doesn’t have a usual plot line like any other fake dating romance, because it has a punch of “secret identity” to it. (you’ll get a bit from the blurb)
This book has something going on at all times, which is really fun. It kept me hooked till the end. (maybe that’s why I finished it in a day)
It has laughs, love, banter, spice, wit and quite a few twists, the kind you don’t usually get.
The MMC, HUNTER, is very smart, protective and oh so in love with the FMC.
ELODIE is witty and smart. I really liked her character, she is so fun.
The things I loved:

💖 The wit Elodie has, she has a great sense of humour.

The premise of the story interested me from the very beginning. Elodie starts out in a financial situation and along comes an opportunity to live a double life that will not only give her life some spice, but also get her the money she needs.
Elodie is such a kind and caring human being. Even though her fiery attitude comes out sometimes, she’s still such a gentle mannered person. She’s so used to being the caretaker all the time that when a REAL man comes along to ease the burden, it’s all like foreign territory for her. And watching her grow through her insecurities and finally be taken care of the way she deserves was illuminating!
Hunter is nothing short of a protector. His turnaround was like night and day. I loved him since he first popped up in the book, but I couldn’t have imagined how much of a DEVOTED lover he would become. I also liked how Alexis showcased not only his emotional growth with Elodie, but also with his teammates. I think that was a nice focus and just gave me more reasons to adore him. Hunter puts the maximum amount of effort into everything he does, and it’s admirable.

Right from the beginning, I was pulled in. At just 20% in, I already felt a deep ache for Elodie. Her relationship with her mom and the weight of their financial struggles hit me on a personal level & it really made me connect with her character a bit more. Elodie and Hunter are clearly a perfect match from the start, but what drove me a little wild was how both of them kept pretending it wasn’t happening. Like, come on… you’re clearly falling, and fast! The slow denial felt like delicious torture at times, and I couldn’t stop turning the pages.
Hunter’s dad is a horrible human. The tension he brings to the story adds so much stress in the best way. You can’t forget the messy ex, Jax, always showing up to throw things off track. I found myself yelling at the book every time he stepped in.
I honestly wasn’t expecting that plot twist in the middle, but I’m so fucking here for it.
I was so intrigued by Nina and kept wanting to know more. I’m so excited that Crossing Lines is about her. I already know it’s going to be a must-read.

This book was filled with more twists and turns than I expected. The conflict resolution definitely didn’t end how i thought it would end.
A lot of the book had some far-fetched situations but I enjoyed this book for exactly what it was: a rom com between the bad boy football player who needs his contract renewed and a small town girl who sounds and looks just like a world famous pop star… with some drama thrown in.
One look at Stella and Hunter turned into the softest “hurt her and die” boyfriend. But he wasn’t actually meeting Stella, he was meeting Elodie who was pretending to be Stella.
The book was full of sweet and spicy moments and a couple laugh out loud bits.
Cannot wait to read Evren & (scary) Nina’s story!

I honestly enjoyed the vibes of this book so much and the storyline had me hooked! It also gave me a bit of Swiftie vibes with the whole setup. 😆
Elodie and Hunter were the absolute cutest that I could barely handle it. Their banter was entertaining. Their relationship journey was such a fun one to follow and I’m so happy how they were able to work through it all. Hunter was such a sweetie. Bad boy where?! And whew they were spicy! I give it a 4 🌶️ out of 5.
I enjoyed the storyline of Elodie stepping in for Stella but the whole other storyline of them came so out of left field. Like did they ever figure out what happened that caused them to split up? I want answers!

Elodie finds herself in a weird situation when she's asked to sub for an international pop star while recovering from a surgery. During the first night of her subs, she meets Hunter, a football player looking for redemption and an extension of his work contract.
This was a funny, spicy and a full of drama book. I enjoyed Elodie's personality a lot. Her interactions with Hunter are hilarious and I found myself smiling many times. The way Hunter acted towards her, so protective and loving, forcing Elodie out of her shell was quite good.
I can't wait to read the next installement in the series.

I knew as soon as I read the first chapter this had me hooked. All the Tswift/travis vibes but so much better! (Can you tell I’m not a super swifter, no judgement to those who are)
I loved the main characters Hunter & Stella/Elodie. I feel like this book had so many twist and turns I didn’t see coming. The writing is 10 outta 10 & I can’t wait to read her other stuff!

love the book especially the plot it was something kinda new and you don’t see often. I also loved the chemistry between Elodie and Hunter they truly were meant to be. Everything about them such as the chemistry between them but also how they helped each other evolving into becoming better people and despite everything they went through they still loved each other a lot and cared for each other deeply.

Beautiful story building!
The dynamic between the two is phenomenal with no third act breakup! The villain plays their part well, the twists and turns are enticing and the entire book kept me hung up! I couldn’t put it down. I’m honestly hoping she finishes out books for the entire girl group and if some of the guys don’t pair off with them they get their stories next 😅
Excellent book and totally worth the read. Watch your triggers and enjoy!

An amazing fake dating must read!
I couldn’t get enough of Elodie and Hunter’s story! It was such a whirlwind, all ups and downs, with amazing side characters that made the story so whole. I’m super excited for book 2!

When I picked up “Faking Ties,” it was my first time reading anything by Alexis Gorgun, and I have to say that I genuinely enjoyed the experience!
I’ve always loved a good fake dating trope, and Hunter and Elodie’s love story definitely has that, plus it even had a secret identity twist that made it even more fun to read about!
Hunter and Elodie’s love story was filled with laugh out loud moments that had me hooked from the very beginning! I loved their chemistry, and I was rooting for them the whole time.
I’m excited to have discovered Alexis Gorgun as an author, and I will be looking into her other books as well. I think that if you love sports romance and/or the fake dating trope, you might like Hunter and Elodie’s story!

This book had a charming premise and plenty of potential, but I found it difficult to fully engage with the story. The pace felt rushed, & the characters lacked the depth needed to create a strong emotional connection. Some of the plot points felt a bit unrealistic, which made it harder to stay immersed. That said, I really enjoyed the friends of the main character—they were my favorite part of the book.

Elodie is hired to impersonate her pop star idol Stella Wilde who happens to be identical to her. This leads Elodie to meet Hunter Holt who’s a famous football player. They both have reasons to start dating (for fake purposes only!) but it doesn’t seem so fake in the end!
I loved this book so much, I finished it in a day. The banter, the love, the laughs, the spice, was everything you could want and more. I love how obsessed Hunter was with her and how he was so proud of the desserts she made. He even bought a dog because she liked dogs 🥺 This is such a heartfelt romance. Elodie is such a caring individual with a big heart who’s always taking care of others. She’s so used to being the caretaker until a REAL man comes along to ease the burden for her. Now she’s the one being take care of, and our girl deserves it!! It was so amazing watching how Hunter helped Elodie through her insecurities and then we saw her truly shine. I love these two together!! Not only that, I love the side characters as well. I will never stop gushing about this book. EVER!! Highly recommend!!

Girl is hired to impersonate a world famous popstar, and then jumps into a fake relationship with a famous Football player. Twists and turns ensue!
Overall reco: Overall, this was an enjoyable book. If you are one that just gets lost in the story, it will be a fun ride. If you see patterns (like me).. it might be a little less but it's still amusing. In the end I will probably read the next book that comes out for Nina, and I feel like that is a recommendation in itself. I've read plenty of first books that had issues and never got past the first book.

I correctly guessed a few of the twists, but one of them I did not and highlighted it in my version as "OH FUCKING SHIT" I was so surprised, like honestly.
I really didn't like Hunter (the MMC) in the beginning and for a good portion of the book. It wasn't until after the halfway mark and a very specific moment that I started to soften to him and then eventually liked him. Before that moment he was an asshole, and he knew he was an asshole (he admits it several times).
Elodie (the FMC) was funny. I enjoyed her a lot, along with Nina. Actually, I liked Nina more? NinaXAria.
I wasn't the biggest fan of Stella. This book was sort of advertised to me as being Taylor Swift coded and I wasn't sure if Elodie or Stella was supposed to be TS. I don't like the idea of either of them being 'her' mostly because I really didn't like how Stella treated Elodie. I kept seeing the coded moments and they usually got a little amusement out of me.
There are some things left hanging, that I don't think will be wrapped up in future novels and they sort of made me question what was the point of including them. Like Hunters Father. That ending didn't feel like any kind of resolution and as someone who has gone through a distant parent (note: quite that level but have cut them off a few times), it felt rather hollow of a thing.
Spice was a little more than vanilla, so a little bit of kink (read: spanking, member size).
One bad thing..
The novel felt like it had good pacing until it suddenly didn't. Sometimes things felt like rushed through. Like, I expected more time to be spent on some things or some moments and it felt like it was rushed. As if the author wanted to get to specific moments and other moments kind of needed to happen and got a little in the way and therefore rushed? It's hard to explain and I should have maybe taken more notes about it but it just felt like sometimes the author was like "okay enough of that.. NEXT!"
