Ridgeville #10

Lion's Honor

Rate this book
Sometimes the Queen of the Jungle needs to lean on her King. Okay, she’s really not the queen and he’s totally not the king, but damn it, they need each other.

Four years ago, werelioness Honor Mauer walked away from Ridgeville and hopped on a plane bound for London. She had college dreams and none of them included her pesky maybe-mate Grayson. (Even if he is the hottest thing to ever walk on two legs—and four.)

All is fantastically furry in London until she goes through her first heat. Then her world collapses, her bright, obnoxious eyes dim, and she runs home with her tail tucked between her legs. Too bad the London werelion who sent her scurrying home decides to show up just as she’s feeling a little less psychotic. Bastard.

Werelion Grayson got his curvy, luscious mate back on U.S. soil and he refuses to let her go. He knows there’s a lot of emotional work to do, but he didn’t become Ridgeville’s Second by turning belly up at the first sign of trouble. She’s his. The quicker she realizes that—and opens her heart to healing—the better. He’s got a plan for a life filled with love, laughter, and cubs and it sorta requires her cooperation.

Just when he thinks her recovery is around the corner, the male who’d hurt Honor shows up in Ridgeville. Which is a good thing, really, since it gives Grayson a chance to kill him. It’s like Christmas in July.

Warning: Once again the bad guys are bad (and bloody, ew) and the good guys are good… And somewhere along the way the good guy and the battered gal find love. (Awww…)

This was a really good book. This is book 10 in the "Ridgeville" series. I couldn't wait to get to Grayson and Honor. Grayson Shor has known for six years that were-lioness Honor Mauer was his mate he just had to wait until she grew up before he could do anything about it Honor was only sixteen at the time. Honor has know that Grayson was her mate at least she thinks he is her mate Honor won't know until she goes through her first heat. After graduations high school she goes of to London to attend college Alex found her a pride that would accept her. Honor return to Ridgeville a broken women full of fear and shame. Honor was kidnapped and held in a cage an tortured by the London Primes son Angus all while going there her first heat. This was a really good book it was well written and funny like the rest of the books in this series. Honor knows that Grayson is her mate, but she is afraid to get close to him. Grayson is very patient with her I also like how Alex and Maya handled her allowing her to live with them and the twins and keeping other males away from her. This book had a happy ending and I am looking forward to reading more about the Ridgeville pride and maybe Stone or the new Tiger the Dean. If you like reading about hot shifters than I recommend that you read this series.

Another great installment of this series! I loved the patience shown by the hero in the read. My only complaint (once again) is the price of the books in this series. $4.99 is quite a bit for a book that’s not even 200 pages long.

Also, I was hoping someone could verify a detail for me regarding this book........ it was never mentioned (unless I missed this) if the hero stayed faithful to the heroine during their 6 year separation. Did I miss this somewhere? I am just going to assume that he was, but still, he did work in a bar that held orgy like scenes a couple times during the year for the Moon Festival thing............... I really just wanted confirmation that he stayed loyal towards his mate while waiting for her to accept him.

All these books by Celia Kyle are just meh. Nothing terrible, nothing great. I couldn't help speed reading just to get to the end so I could find something else to read before I had to go to bed.

I am at the end of the series where I am thorn between "I liked it" and "It was ok".
Why?
Because read only about curvy women with self image issues, very good looking guys with self worth issues and to top it up, every single couple went though the "sex' with two fingers prior to the real deal and the guy at the end licked his fingers.....
I felt like I am watching a movie with 9 couples who were doing the same thing in a different setting.
The only good thing about the whole series was that the action was continued throughout the books.
I wished for more originality and less copy paste feel of the book. The series could have been stellar Celia Kyle...
Thank goodness for the humor in the end.

This is the 9th book in the Ridgeville series and takes place almost 9 years after the first book He Ain't Lion (which is also a freebie...) This follows the Alpha Alex's second, Grayson Shor, lion shifter of the Ridgeville Pride and Honor, his buddy Brute's little sister. This story has been brewing for several "Ridgeville years" as we are first introduced to Honor when she is a bratty 16 year old and Grayson realizes she is his destined mate, but patiently waits as she matures to the age when he can claim her. After high school she quickly departs for London to pursue her college degree. Flash forward 4 years, Honor returns to Ridgeville traumatized by a mysterious event that happed with the lion pride in London during her first heat. Grayson is the most supportive and loving mate as he helps her overcome the experience and heal enough to be ready to finally accept him as mate. Grayson is the best! And as the story slowly unfolds, Honor is surrounded by the Alpha's mate, Maya and all her besties who rally around Honor offering the light humor and comic relief that is always included in these stories. Very enjoyable series...

This shifter romance is a riveting read that capture’s the heart. The author mixes drama and romance with touches of humorous snarky dialogue in a seamless entertaining story with fascinating characters with some unusual but lots of fun personalities. This is the first book that I have read in the Ridgeville series and I am definitely hooked on the characters, now.

The last few years haven't been easy for this couple, Greyson told Honor and her family that they were mates just before she left to go to college in London. While she was away he struggled being at home without her, so spent his time travelling to help the council. While in London Honor suffered a traumatic experience and now she's home, but only Alex and Maya are allowed anywhere near her. At times this was hard to read, once the experience was being revealed, no rape but in many ways worse. I felt for both characters, poor Grayson was going out of his mind especially after suffering years without her. Lots of painful emotions and some angst, along with tension and suspense. Having read this as part of the full box set I can't decide which couple I felt sorry for most, thankfully all the books end with a happy ever after but each have a real fight to get there. Wonderful, gripping and enthralling reads while also being quite harrowing and full of love and protective instincts. Started 11/12/21 Finished 12/12/21

As you can tell from my review of the first book in this series I really enjoyed reading them. While each book brings in new characters, and new issues, the original storyline and the first books couple the Ridgeville Prime Alex and Prima Maya are peppered throughout each individual story. There is also lots of little gems of wisdom Prima Maya at the beginnings of each chapter. All in all this series was a joy to read, and I imagine I'll read them again and again.

Great story

Grayson and Honor couldn't mate until she grew into womanhood. Six long years and they are no closer than before. Something threatens Honor and Grayson will do anything to see her safe and unafraid. Even if it means withholding his claim. I think this one is my favorite. These two overcame great obstacles to be together and Grayson couldn't have been a more patient mate.

Brilliant

This has to be one of the best books I've read in ages, honor is one kick ass lady, despite all the trauma she went through she was so determined to be with gray, such an emotional roller-coaster of emotions that will have you crying, laughing and angry all in one go, once you start reading you won't be able to stop till the last page

Loved it

I love Celia's books. All of them. But this series has me laughing so hard I literally set myself with every story. I swear she follows me around because all of the little sayings I have she uses in her books. By the way I am the queen of bookmarks so suck it up buttercup and get on to the next book.

This book is so very emotional. The story is much darker and deeper than the others in the series but still so wonderfully stunning. Honor is one bada$$ lioness and Grayson is her perfect mate.

2025 reread of box set 1-10.
First read singularly many years ago and I tend to reread my favourites. This is not one of them.

Rereading the box set, ended up even more annoyed with Honor than previously.
Still loving this series but really wanted to smack Honor upside the head. She’s acting worse than those who spent 20 years as captives of Freedom being repeatedly raped and beaten.
Honor has a go at Grayson for lying by omission, then gets angry when he shoves the truthful fact in her face that by not telling those in charge what had happened to her, they were unprepared for Angus turning up in Ridgeville.
Honor has no honour. Her reasoning is weak and pathetic. Obviously we are meant to take her young age (22) into consideration. I think it was more pride and cowardice.
She put the college dean at risk by staying, without even letting her own ALPHA know there was a humongous FUBAR situation in London. She is lacking gumption, common sense and is all about herself.
Yes what she went through was atrocious, but she stays in London without thinking of repercussions or consequences.
Taking a star away this reread.

ORIGINAL REVIEW
Really enjoyable apart from one big gripe.
Honor went to London at 18, as a rather spoilt brat, to do her Masters degree with the strong knowledge that even though she was too young, Grayson was her mate. Unfortunately, whilst there the London Alpha’s son took a very warped shine to her and traumatised Honor badly. She managed to escape and get back to the safety of her pride in Ridgeville.
Grayson is the pride second and is strong enough to lead his own pride but likes where he is in the Ridgeville pride. Staying away from Honor was the hardest thing he ever had to do but he promised her family to give her time to go through her first heat and grow up.
When Honor comes back traumatised, this big tough take no prisoners lion gets to show his very soft side for his mate. But when trouble comes after Honor the claws come out.
My only problem or gripe was Honor had all the pride women, two of whom are sensitives there to help her and she wouldn’t let them for ages. I know it was a sensitive that betrayed and forced Honor to act as she did, but Bianca, the twisted London sensitive, was a stupid idiot to believe she was Angus’s mate.
Honor knows what a good Prime and Prima behave like, she has had an example of them for years in Alex and Maya. This just ranked of a lack of trust in her pride and I did not like that.
I was also very angry that she stayed to finish her degree, no problem with Honor doing that, but she did NOT inform Alex about what had happened so he could inform the council about the London pride and the Alphas son.
How many more women were hurt or killed due to her not telling. Just wrong to me.

A well written book that once again brings a traumatic experience into the light in a way that is believable apart from my gripe above.
All through the second half of this series Ms Kyle has dealt with some really gritty situations albeit in fictional stories and has done so with the greatest of gentleness and a belief that acceptance of what we cannot change does not make us less than what we can be.
Sad to say I believe this is the last book in this series, hopefully only for the moment and we may get a revisit to this crazy, zany, wonderful bunch of shifters some time. The antics of the females in this series have been one of my greatest joys.

I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Wow - talk about a phenomenal ending to a super fantastic series! This story of Honor and Grayson has been a long time coming and they truly get the ending they deserve. Years have passed since Grayson and Honor have seen each other and her homecoming is anything but how they expected it to go. Grayson may have determined that Honor was his mate when she was 16, but it took years before Honor was willing to agree with him. While away in London, some truly horrible things happened to her. Not every pride is like her pride at home and Honor had to suffer to learn that hard lesson. During her first heat she found herself kidnapped, tortured, and forced to fight with her own cat. Luckily, she has the best family and friends a girl could ask for. Alex flies her back with no questions asked and keeps all the males away from her until she is ready - even her mate.

Grayson (appropriately) is pissed off that he's being kept from his mate. He deserves some kind of award for holding himself back and being patient with his super young mate. Even when she comes back and he knows she's hurting, he somehow doesn't knock the door down to get to her. He bides his time and waits for her to be ready. For that alone, he is my absolute favorite of the series. The way they go about finding their way together is romantic and awesome. It takes Honor a while before she can truly open up and share her experience with her mate, but when she does we learn exactly how horrible her time in London was. This also introduced us to the bad guy of the book - Angus. He's the prime's son (which also kind of makes the London prime the bad guy, too). The town really comes together to help guard their girl and, ultimately, give everyone a shot at revenge.

This series was such a treat to read. All of the installments were fun, but this was definitely my favorite. Maybe it's because I loved all the side characters so much already, or maybe Honor and Grayson just earned their HEA so much that it was super satisfying. Either way, I highly recommend this great series to all paranormal romance readers who like their books to have some hot sizzle.

4 1/2 stars. I will admit, I am a huge fan of this series. I have no idea how he author takes such intense, delicate subject matter, and tells its story with so much humor, without diminishing its seriousness, or making it seem silly. This seems to be an ongoing theme with many of the books from this series. I am not making light of any of these situations--I just love the strength of the characters. We met Honor and Greyson a while back, when she was just a teenager, and he was fighting his feelings, and waiting for her to come of age. Now, years later, Honor is still young, but definitely matured, and we see her strength in how she deals with a very traumatic experience. It takes time, and I love it how she realizes life goes on, and the people around you, who care about you, have to get back to normalcy too. Greyson is very patient, but it doesn't take away from his alpha qualities. The chemistry is great between the two, and I actually felt there is romance involved (instead of the usual "your my mate-that's final" mentality) Reoccurring characters have their expected roles, and as always, entertaining. Action/suspense was exciting, but that was expected also. Even though this is book 9 of the series, I think a reader could jump right in with this book, and pick the nuances of the series up pretty quickly--back story was explained well, and secondary characters were reintroduced.

Really enjoyed this instalment of the series! Finally Honor and Grayson get together, we've all been waiting for this since Brutes book! I feel bad for what happened to her in London so I cheered when she finally let go her rage and went for Angus' throat in the story! It was a long journey for her to get to that stage, she'd had a lot of healing to do but when she let go of her fear and attacked him I couldn't help the smile on my face!

I loved how patient Grayson was with her throughout the book, helping her heal. I also loved that we seen another side of Alex and Maya when they were dealing with Honor at the start but my favourite thing about Ridgeville was how they all came together to help Honor in any way they could. The chemistry between Grayson and Honor was amazing and they certainly built the sexual tension between them until Honor was ready to mate with Grayson. She had some demons to face before she could be in the right headspace to mate with Grayson without freaking out!

I hope there are more Ridgeville books as there are a few characters we didn't see (two we heard mentioned, one who appeared and a new character I'd like more off) that I'd like to see get their HEA, like the Mastin sisters and Stone as well as Deuce's sister too.

The latest book about the rollicking, rowdy Ridgeville residents ROCKS! Maya and the menagerie of mates are giving bad ass lessons again and helping the emotionally ravaged Honor to recover from her experiences with the London pride.

Honor had gone to England to earn a prestigious university degree, but was so traumatized she fled home to hide from everyone. Maya, the ever wisecracking Prima, provides her own special brand of advice and laughter among her supportive activities. Meanwhile Grayson, who's been waiting years for Honor to grow up and experience her first Heat so he can claim his mate, insists on patiently and gently helping in the healing process.

But the evil of London follows Honor back to the U.S. Soon the International Council is involved in the investigation of several London pride irregularities. Everyone wants the lions brought to shifter justice, but Grayson just wants Honor safe from future threats.

Celia Kyle's Ridgeville series is awesome, and I'm clamoring for more!

Sigh, I refuse to accept this is the last book in the series!! I want books for Emma and Stone!!! I love these characters and would be thrilled to see the time line jump 15 years or so into the future to give all the cubs their own HEA!! That would be awesome! Those twins are going to be serious heartbreakers!

Finally, we get to Honor and Grayson. The store this time is much more involved and really takes time for Honor to heal. I like that we did not rush into the mating and took time for them to reconnect. It is something that has been missing in past books of the series. They work together to heal and explore what happened to her.

I love this series and was over the moon to get updates on all the couples from past books and their adorable kids! Seriously, Ms Kyle I am lobbying for a continuation of the series with the kids in the future!!! I am seeing West and East with a sweet and sassy little bunny!!

There are some really tough moments in the story, if you have triggers ya might need to avoid this one. It does not go as far as non-consent but it gets super close.

Honor went to London to attend college there and her Prime Alex found a pride that will accept her into their pride. She knows that Grayson might be her mate, but she has dreams that she wants to achieve that doesn't include him. Honor was going through her first heat and she was kidnapped by the London Prime's son Angus and put in a cage and tortured. She went back to Ridgeville broken and a shamed of what happened there.
Grayson has known for 6 yrs. that Honor is his mate, but she was only 16 yrs. old and she had a lot of growing up to do before she could even become his mate. He's happy when she finally came how but she was not the same person she was when she left. Honor was staying with Alex and Maya and he was not allowed to go see his own mate. When Angus comes to town he is happy that he will be able to get revenge for what he did to Honor. Grayson has a lot of patience while he waited for Honor and he is determined that he would never hurt her only to protect what's his.

This series just keeps getting better & better with each new installment. Love the ALPHAS, bat-shit cray cray heroines, dirty talk & witty dialogue. The books are getting a bit longer as well, which is a win-win (as Maya might say). I hope this wasn't the final book of the series, I'll be looking forward to every new release. This one is right up there with some of my other favorite shifter/paranormal series like IAD, Pride, & Dragon Kin. My only complaint, and it's the same one I have with IAD, is a lack of diversity (human/"skins") in the worlds Kyle & Cole have created. Normally in a series as extensive as the the two are the complete absence of people of color would be a huge turn off, but both series are just so entertaining that the lack of diversity is a shame just not enough for me to simply ignore how much joy I get out of reading them.

♡ 3 Stars for Grayson ♡

I ended up enjoying this book a lot more than I anticipated considering the fact that I haven't read the previous books in this series. I'm sure it would be more enjoyable if you know the other characters more personally, but I wasn't too lost.

Grayson was so sweet, gentle, kind, caring, patient, and loving. I need more heros like him!

This was never addressed in the book (maybe in previous books?) but I want to know if Grayson was faithful to Honor since he found out they were mates, like she was. She literally went through hell to stay faithful to him, so I expect the same from him. Although, since it wasn't addressed, I'm guessing no? I sure hope not. Maybe I don't want to know after all.

This is the last Ridgeville story, at least for now. And it packs an emotional punch right to the guts.

Grayson, Alex's second knew that Honor was his mate when she was 16. However, she wouldn't know for certain until she had her first heat at about 20. Honor decides to go to England to get her degree & Masters, which means she interacts with the London pride.

There is something very, very wrong in London.

When Honor comes home she is a broken woman.

This is the story of a very strong woman and the friends and family who love her enough to give her what she needs even when sometimes she doesn't want it.

Oh, and revenge. Got to have revenge.

Love Celia Kyle's writing and if she wants to write more Ridgeville I'll be reading them.

It will consume you

This was a totally enjoyable book! Honor got broken and it was bad. Really bad. The story itself was so freaking good, every time it took a turn, I was right there, putting off sleep, then waking up early to at least get to a good stopping place before I had to get to work. Then i got mad at myself because there is no good stopping place! I was kind of sad when it ended. There are evil, no good bad guys, a woman who has to work through some evil that evil men do, a hot, sweet, strong hero guy and Maya. There were parts of this story when i wanted to reach in and kill the nasty bad guy, but the book works you through that stuff in it's own good time.

I loved this book. Honor and Grayson story, and what a story it was. In previous books Honor was a teenager but this book she is all grown and was going to college in London. Her experiences there left Honor emotionally battered and broken. The only way she stayed sane was her thoughts of Grayson, her sweat, kind, caring and oh so patient mate. Once home she had so much healing to do and with the help of Grayson and her friends in the pride, she was able to heal and become the strong mate Grayson knew was in her.

The last book of the series. It was a fun ride and I enjoyed these crazy animals. Going to miss Maya and Alex. And those twins. I would love a spin off with the twins and the other pride kids. I liked this one. Grayson was sexy and patient with Honor. Although at some points in the book she pissed me off and annoyed me. What is it that all these women were either beaten or raped save Maya? Ugh that plot device got old fast. All in all, I'm glad Celia wrote about strong lead females and the males who were pussy whipped behind them.
