Overview: Rita runs the Sunny Side Up, a cafe that specializes in pies and cakes, in particular her Mississippi Mud Pie. Unfortunately, a close friend took a slice of pie to Abby. Something had happened to the slice of pie, and Abby is dead. There is no way that Loretta killed Abby. Now Rita has to prove it, after all, the Sunny Side Up is closed until the case is solved, and she wanted some excitement anyway. But will Loretta take the fall for murder? Let's find out.
Dislikes: In this case, there is only one character that I truly cannot stand. Detective Domore is someone that I could have felt for, if he hadn't brought his personal problems into the job. Yes, look into who brought the pie, and where the pie was made. You could even shut down the cafe for up to a day just to make sure that the lady who cooked it didn't leave anything out on the remaining pie or the ingredients. But acting like the ladies were out to get you, and were trying to force you into a certain situation, while more than just inconveniencing Rita by shutting down the Sunny Side Up for three days or closer to a week, was just wrong. He made it personal, when Rita would have left the case alone. By doing his job properly, he would have cleared Loretta, and found the killer without burning the bridges that he had in the town.
Likes: Rita was willing to get anyone who needed help connected with a lawyer. As well as she was around to help Millie, Sunny, and Loretta.
I loved how the Sunny Side Up got its name.
And I felt for Joe. Abby got sold a bill of goods at that Wellness Retreat. If she had survived, then she would have lost much more due to thinking that she needed to change so much.
Conclusion: This was a fun little story. Detective Domore will raise your blood pressure, however. This is a good pick for those who enjoy the cafe based cozy mysteries. Enjoy the read.
Murdersippi Mud Pie: by Rosie A Point. What an exciting book. Wow what can I say. Rita owns Sunny Side Up. Rita’s & Badger are investigating the murder of a friend. Detective Domore was investigating the murder that happened in the park he was gunning for Loretta thinking she did it. But Rita was investigating it too. She was going around asking people she thought who might be the murderer. This book was exciting and it kept you guessing. You should get the book and figure out what happened and who the murder was. I have the book and loved it you won’t regret reading it. Keep up the great writing Rosie.
Be careful what you wish for! Local cafe owner Rita Jackson is feeling like it is a little too peaceful and quiet in her town, until a woman dies after eating a serving of her cafe's Mississippi Mud Pie. And her good friend is accused of poisoning the pie in order to kill the victim. Rita has her hands full while doing her own investigation, especially with the detective in charge wanting to make a name for himself before he retires.
This book is a prequel to the Sunny Side Up Cozy Mystery Series. This book takes place before Sunny comes to Florida and it introduces you to all the characters you meet that are throughout the entire rest off the series. I’ve read all of the other books but somehow I missed this one! It’s just as enjoyable as all of the other books and I would definitely recommend the series if you like a light mystery series.
Combination of smart older woman Rita who owns a café, a heavy-handed dolt of a detective, and my favorite cozy mystery cat Bodger, a grumpy former feral cat, who only likes Rita.
When Abby dies after eating some of Rita's famous Mississippi Mud Pie that Mildred gave her, Mildred is the main suspect. But there are other possibilities, and Rita is determined to find the killer.
A short but sweet read! Well-written - short but fully developed story, entertaining throughout. Rita is a very likeable main character, and I was with her every step of the way in trying to figure out the mystery!
This is a short sassy story that introduces Rita and her cat, Bodger short for Bodginton. She talks to her cat to help her collect and organize her thoughts, then she interprets the meows to mean things. This is a prequel introduction to a series.
Wow what an exciting book to start this new series. Really enjoyed the time with this great cast of characters. Will be looking to read the next book in this series. I was not disappointed.
