Two best friends, trying to find a way to pay their college tuition, are swept up in a whirlwind of corruption, political drama, magic, pirating, and the peculiar worship of a God above all others. They are drafted into one adventure after the next, unaware of the role they play in the salvation or destruction of the world.
The characters were relatable and flawed. I love that. As a fellow Christian Fantasy author I appreciate the ties to faith. The last quarter of the book was pulse-pounding action. Bravo!
"Eastern Tales Volume One" by Chris Hamilton is a refreshing departure from typical fantasy stories, offering a compelling narrative that addresses real-life issues like avoiding college debt and escaping debt slavery. The protagonists, Darnis and Joran, are commoners attending vocational college and striving to secure their futures without falling into financial traps. Their adventure begins when a noblewoman, posing as a commoner, asks for their help to return home.
This book stands out for its unpredictability and originality, steering clear of the "Chosen One" trope and keeping readers engaged with every chapter. If you're looking for a unique and engaging read from a talented self-published author, "Eastern Tales Volume One" is a fantastic choice.
