My best friends little sister. Entirely off limits. A craving I cannot resist.
Savannah Levine is the one woman I cannot have and the only one I want. I keep her at arms length, but there's no denying that she is an addiction I'm too weak to ignore.
One taste. One touch. I should have known it would never be enough.
Selfishly, I steal touches and kisses in the dark, keeping us a secret from those closest to us. But in a circle like mine, lies tend to catch up on you and justice is served in the most tragic of ways.
There's no way a man like me gets to keep the girl.
Savannah
My brothers best friend. A man I have no right wanting. A broken heart waiting to happen.
Killian Archer has owned my heart from the moment I met him, I thought it would ease with time, that this feeling would end but it only grew. I assumed it was unrequited until one night, one date gone wrong, and a kiss to seal our fates, catapulted us straight into the danger zone.
We are fire. Burning into embers. And the more we sneak around, the more I fall.
Until it's all ripped away and I'm left scrambling to find all the missing pieces. The thing about a love like ours is that it was never built to last. You can hope and you can pray, but when you're built on a foundation of secrets and lies, cracks begin to show.
And when the walls finally fall, I won't even have the memories to remind me that it was real.
Embers of Us is a full length, brothers best friend romance following Killian and Savannah. This is a dark romance, a full list of TWs is provided at the start of the book.

★★★★★. Thank you SO MUCH to the author, Ria and Luna Literary for this ARC! This review will contain some spoilers, read at your own risk! It’s not shocking that Ria has written another 5 star book and another couple I’m completely obsessed with. Her plots continue to keep giving, her mmcs are PERFECT(ly) flawed, her fmcs are so strong. With this one though? Her angst CAME THROUGH. Forbidden, secret relationship, “who hurt you?” vibes, completely obsessed and possessed mmc, she falls first but he falls SO MUCH HARDER, amnesia and a secret painter? Come on, obviously 5 stars.
Killian, UGH KILLIAN, a perfect man. He knew what he wanted and despite his struggle to stay away for his best friend that he thought he owed his life too; HE GOT HIS WOMAN. It took Savannah going on a date to get there, but it made them so much better when they finally got together. His backstory and the flashbacks BROKE my heart. The fact he went through what he did to protect Dean and Dean protecting him…im sick. Everything he did in his life has been for Dean then Sebastian and now it’s only for Savannah. Him secretly painting only her for months maybe even a few years was WILD. He painted and drew any memory he had of her. He claimed her in the best way possible too.
Savannah, my strong incredible selfless woman. I loved her immediately when she was mentioned in the previous books and now that she was here? Oh my god, I love her so much. First off, THANK YOU Ria for giving us a ballerina and keeping her as a ballerina. I was so happy to read a ballerina continue to be one throughout the book and not have some tragedy happen. This woman fought with everything to get Killian and once she did, she had that man wrapped around her finger. (he admits it too) Her past was sad and I hated seeing her and Sebastian fight (he better watch out for me) yet I loved their relationship. When her accident happened, I almost threw up with Sebastian’s reaction more than Killian’s because of how close they were.
The third act and amnesia completely destroyed me. The fact how it happened and when it happened ruins me. They lost not a lot of time but enough to know what’s it like to not be with each other. The push and pull from both of them had me gripping my hair and wanting to die yet I loved every bit of it. I loved loved how Savannah didn’t forgive him right away however knew that he was her soulmate and she would forgive but needed the time.
For my safety people, as always completely safe. Both not virgins (there is an age gap so it would’ve been weird if he waited and vice versa). From my knowledge, he’s been celibate since she came back from college a few months/year and it doesn’t seem likely he’d do anything with anyone else. One other man jealousy scene and attempted assault happens. The man is handled by Killian.
“You’re a never-ending book, every time I think I’ve reached the end, there’s another chapter when I turn the page and I can’t stop reading, Savannah.”
I think Ria must have crawled inside my brain, looked at all the red flags I love, and then turned them into Killian. I love my MMCs grumpy and Killian was a top notch possessive, hot, murderous, jealous grump.
Idk what it is about a scene where the FMC goes on a date with someone else and it alters the MMCs brain chemistry but I am HERE FOR IT. I’m a sucker for that every damn time 👏🏼😮💨🫡
By 50% through I remember thinking, HOW IS THERE STILL HALF THE BOOK LEFT!? SO MUCH JUST HAPPENED! I also thought, oooo this is hot and heavy I can’t wait for it to keep going. And then BAM I’m thrown off my chair and slapped in the face (v dramatic).
This is just another reason I love going into books blind and trying out new authors. After this you better believe I will be reading the rest of this series as well as anything written by Ria. I can not WAIT for Deans story next, I’m already hooked 👶🏼
Wow, what a ride this book was! I was not expecting it to be so emotional. This was my first time reading something by this author, and it won’t be my last! I loved the writing style—there’s something beautiful about how the author describes everything. It made me tune into each scene, and I adored how naturally the storyline flowed. The chemistry between the main characters was just electric! The third act tugged at my heartstrings, but the ending wrapped everything up beautifully.
Savannah is a great character—a famous ballerina with a sunny personality and the sweetest soul. She has a crush on Killian, her brother's best friend. When she gets a six-month break, she decides to buy a house near her brother to spend more time with him and his family. I admired how strong, smart, and independent she was. She knows what she wants and goes after it! I loved her honesty and openness; she understands her worth and isn’t afraid to voice it.
Killian may be grumpy and brooding, but he’s fiercely loyal and would do anything for the people he loves. He’s always thought of Savannah as his little sister—until suddenly, that changes. He tries to fight his feelings and pushes her away, but their connection is too strong, and he eventually gives in. I loved how protective he was of Savannah; his obsession with her is palpable! He knows her inside out, what she likes, and what she needs. His childhood was tough, which made my heart ache for him. Unfortunately, his past complicates his chances of finding happiness. He faces some tough choices along the way. Did I agree with everything he did? Not really. But I get why he made those decisions.
It was a heart-wrenching experience reading from both his and Savannah's perspectives. The third act broke my heart. I knew something was coming, but I didn’t think it would hit me that hard! I felt their pain and struggles, and all I wanted was for them to find their happy ending. Overall, I enjoyed this book! The secret relationship, the longing, the passion, and the challenges they faced were all captivating. The author truly excels at creating complex characters. I can’t wait to read the next book!
I was incredibly lucky to beta read this and I loved it all over again reading the finalised version. The roller coaster of emotions Ria took me on with this book, phewwww. This is my fave in the series and I am still thinking about them weeks later.
Killian and Savannah’s story is forbidden, secret romance perfection. I’m talking a sunshine dancer, a completely obsessed and protective mmc who is as complex as they come, a little she falls first but he falls harder, and a side of amnesia (yes. amnesia). I mean need I say more?
Now for all the things I loved… ⊹ savannah is a queen and i adore her sunshine personality + optimism. ⊹ the way she stood up for herself. ⊹ killian was complex + perfectly flawed. ⊹ he’s a secret painter 👀 ⊹ the way he opened up to her. ⊹ the chemistry between these two was palpable + the spice perrrfection. ⊹ the flashbacks to his childhood + past broke my heart for him. ⊹ his relationship with dean is so special. ⊹ the comfort they gave one another was everything. ⊹ she may have been completely gone for this man but she knew her worth. ⊹ i was a mess of tears and sniffles when the amnesia trope hit. ria wrote this so so well, their emotions were palpable through the pages. ⊹ my heart broke towards the end of this but the redemption was so well done.
And that ending. Ria. Ma’am, I am going to need that book immediately. I am READY for Dean + Sloane.
𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗰𝘁: brothers best friend, age gap, sneaking around, forbidden, morally grey mmc, dancer fmc, touch her + d!e.
I liked this book~ it was a short, easy and fast read for me. I loved Killian and Savannah, their story was more emotional compared to other two books. Plot overall was just their relationship, which i personally don’t mind. Savannah was such a sweet and strong character. I was little scared to read ballerina book because they usually end up not doing ballet after 😭 but I loved to see her loving it and keep doing it until the end~ I love her friendship with Sloane, the way she was always there for her was everything for me. Killian and Dean past broke my heart ❤️🩹 They both didn’t deserve what happened to them and I hope their father is rotting in hell. I’m so happy Sebastian helped them out when they were younger, because they both deserve to be happy and loved. He was such a grumpy character but also was so soft and caring with Savannah 🤏🏻 Also him loving to paint was everything, because the Sunset painting for her? GOD THAT WAS THE SWEETEST!!!
I loved side characters moments in this book~ We saw more of Willow and Sebastian and their baby Hope. I was hopping to see more of them being parents in their own book and we finally saw it here. Also we got little from Olivia and Malakai and they are expecting a baby too 🤧 We saw some crumbs from Sloane alone and Dean also and then we saw a little moment of them and they have some type of history for sure and based how they were glaring at each other idk if it is a good one or not. Also the end with Dean??? He has a baby??? I really hope it will play out good for this couple in their own book.
There was some stuff I didn’t like that’s why even tho I liked it overall it didn’t get a higher ratings. I feel like personally for me there was too much smut 😭 They had their cute moments but they had sex every chapter which wasn’t necessary as it didn’t really give much to the story, which was already mostly about their relationship and nothing else happening on the side. Savannah went through such a traumatic thing with Aiden and then the fight and car accident was heartbreaking to see 💔 But I feel like it was needed in a way as it was a wake up call for Killian. He didn’t want to tell anyone about them and after accident he got his shit together and start putting her feet. I just feel like it was very short? For amnesia trope to be added at that point of the story and for her to remember it all just a few chapters after it didn’t really do anything for me. I hope it was a little longer and done better. Also Sebastian find out and being mad was understandable but also the spreading your legs comment was so unnecessary and he got little too mad for my liking 😭 But his reaction to her accident and after just broke my heart and you know he really loves and cares for his sisters. I think besides those everything else was good and I overall liked the couple and the book~ Now I’m exited to see how Dean and Sloane’s book will turn out 🤭
EASY 5⭐️s 😍 could even be an infinity star. I absolutely love and ate this book up. Killian and Savannah wow 🔥🔥🔥🔥
This book gave everything. Grumpy sunshine, light mafia, immaculate spice. The amount of emotion we got in this book was so good. Truly I loved every single part of this book.
The amnesia trope was done well and the groveling that occurred was top tier. Seriously I love them and I am GAGGED for book 4.
“I am weak, Savannah, for you I always have been. I held on for a little too long before we ever fell into this, I watched you and I followed you. Fuck, you could have said jump, and I’d ask how high. But that’s all I allowed it to be. You’re too young for me, my best friend’s little sister, it was wrong of me to want you the way I did.”
I doubt she even really knows how she slid into the fissures of my broken soul and melded them together with gold.
I’m not sure she truly understands what she’s done by letting me have her body. Whether she understands she’s just signed her soul over to me. I don’t share. I don’t let things go. When they are mine, there’s nothing and no one who can take it away.
Light Mafia Brothers best friend Age gap Amnesia Found family Professional Ballerina Grumpy/sunshine
I loveeeee a silent man. Killian was the perfect over the top grumpy made man & Savvy was his forbidden ray of sunshine. Their story was unique and addictive. I couldn’t put it down and finished in about 2 days. I love how much he yearned for her in the background and all the little things he did that showed he cared for her. Two of my favorite microtropes are in this one & I was living for it!
I have been waiting for this story for so long and Ria did not disappoint! The yearning, the heartbreak, the jealousy, the LOVE had me devouring this book so quickly!
If you’ve ever had a crush on your brother’s best friend then this is the book for you!
And that ending!??? I need the next book right now thank you 😂
Zero grovel for being a coward a liar a idiot and choosing her brother over her She just forgave him after a couple paintings and texts I hate when FMCs says they will never forgive the MMC but does it so fucking fast anyway BOOOOOO
Thank you to Ria Wilde and Luna Literacy for this ARC! 💖
This book was everything I hoped it would be and more. Every time I think Ria can’t possibly make me fall deeply in love with yet another couple she does it again. I’ve been so excited to finally read Savannah and Killian’s story. Ever since their little interactions in the earlier books, and knowing how she’s always felt about him, I just knew their story would be special. And it really was. Watching their love blossom felt so natural and beautiful.
I also really enjoyed catching up with the previous characters. Seeing Bast and Willow as parents to baby Hope melted my heart. That whole dynamic was just so precious.
Savvy was everything I love in a main character. She was strong, confident, stood up for herself, and fiercely protected her peace. But at the same time, she was so kind-hearted and sweet to everyone around her. I’d honestly love to be her friend, she just radiated warmth and good vibes. Her friendship with Sloane was also really refreshing; it felt like something she truly needed, a connection outside her family.
Killian genuinely surprised me. He didn’t have much of a voice in the earlier books, so getting to know him here felt like peeling back layers, getting to know him on a deeper level was so rewarding. Learning about his and Dean’s past was heartbreaking, it explained so much about why he keeps to himself and why he’s so protective. But seeing his softer side with Savannah? Pure gold. From washing her hair and getting her coffee in the mornings, to painting that stunning mural in her studio, his love language is clearly acts of service, and he did it so well. His quiet, steady love for her was beautiful to watch unfold.
The plot twist at the end concerning Dean??? I absolutely cannot wait for his and Sloane’s book.
The third book in the series follows Kilian (one of the brothers we met earlier) and Savannah, who is Seb’s younger sister. And honestly—this story was brilliant. Without a doubt, it’s my favourite of the series so far.
Kilian has always seen Savannah as someone to protect, almost like a little sister, especially because of the age gap between them. But when she leaves for college and later comes back as a confident, talented dancer, everything changes. He begins to see her differently, and despite his resistance, he eventually gives in to the undeniable connection between them.
Their relationship is filled with flirty banter, secret passion, and deep obsession, but they keep it hidden from her brother and pretty much everyone else. Kilian struggles with feelings of unworthiness—he believes he’s too dark and doesn’t deserve someone as bright as Savannah. Still, his obsession with her runs deep, and watching him wrestle with that while falling for her was amazing.
The story really tugged at my heartstrings. There’s a heartbreaking moment where Kilian convinces himself he has to end things with Savannah, and the scene where he breaks her heart absolutely gutted me. Soon after, Savannah is in a car accident, which causes some memory loss. Kilian is full of regret and desperate to make her remember him and what they shared. Watching them fight their way back to each other was emotional and beautiful.
Of course, there’s tension when Seb eventually finds out about them, but in the end, Kilian and Savannah come through stronger than ever. What I especially love about this series is the lack of unnecessary other woman/other man drama. Yes, the characters have past relationships, but once they’re with their person, there’s no back-and-forth or outside distractions. It feels mature and refreshing.
This book stood out because Kilian, who had always been the darkest character, really comes alive through his love for Savannah. With her, he flourishes, softens, and shows sides of himself we hadn’t seen before. And Savannah herself grows into her own—learning to stand up for herself, own her strength, and match Kilian’s intensity.
Overall, I absolutely adored this book. It was emotional, romantic, angsty, and so satisfying. Kilian and Savannah’s story is my favourite in the series, and it cemented just how much I love this world and these characters.
Kill and Savvy, my goodness. These two! This is my first time reading anything by Ria Wilde, and I dove into this book (not initially realizing it's an interconnected standalone) but nothing disappointed. I am 100% going to be reading Malakai/Olivia, and Sebastian/Willows books though ASAP. I NEED more character development! Anywho. Back to Killian and Savannah. Savannah, Sebastians little sister - off limits, ten years younger - he shouldn't be obsessed with her, he knows its wrong but Killian cannot help himself. When Savannah returns from college, he is completely and utterly consumed by her. For as long as she can remember, Savannah has always deep down loved Kill, but of course being her brothers best friend and 10 years older he was off limits. Until he wasnt. To try and distract herself from him, she goes on a date - this rips him apart basically, ends up at her house and one thing leads to another. From here forward, their forbidden secret romance develops. The passion these two have is AMAZING. The little details that Killian pays attention to - he truly SEES Savannah. The dark and twisty quiet artist he is, obsessed with his tiny dancer. When she moves into her house, he paints beautiful art pieces and a mural in her dance studio that leaves everyone speechless. Artist "unknown" I loved how protective Kill is of Savv, and how he never doubts her strength, intelligence or abilities.
When their love grows too strong, Savannah doesn't want to keep it a secret anymore - but Killian, always trying to take care of everyone but himself, refuses to allow her brother or their friend group to find out - so he ends it. Not realizing, that what was to come next - would change EVERYTHING. Literally, their lives as we know it.....
Does Sebastian find out? Does Killian finally get what he wants for once? Where does this leave Savannahs dance career? Add to your TBR, and give it a read. I promise you won't regret it! FIVE STARS FOR RIA WILDE.
This book is a standalone dark romance featuring a brother’s best friend and an age-gap dynamic. The story centres on Killian and Savannah and explores themes of intense passion and emotional depth. Ria Wilde doesn’t just flirt with fire—she sets the damn house on fire with Embers of Us.
This interconnected standalone in her Burn for Me series takes the brother’s best friend trope, douses it in forbidden temptation, then lights a match. What follows is a blazing-hot, emotionally loaded story that will leave your heart racing and you sweating like you’ve run a marathon.
The tension is Electric from the moment Savannah and Killian’s paths cross. Their connection crackles with desire, each interaction laced with unspoken longing and simmering heat. Wilde’s writing ensures that every glance, every touch, builds the anticipation, making the eventual union all the more explosive.
While the romance is undeniably steamy, Wilde doesn’t shy away from exploring deeper emotional currents. Themes of grief, loss, and personal growth add layers to the characters, making their journey to love feel earned and profoundly moving.
Embers of Us is a must-read for fans of dark romance (like myself) seeking a story that combines scorching chemistry with emotional depth. Ria Wilde delivers a tale that is both tantalising and heartfelt, ensuring that Savannah and Killian’s story will leave you breathless.
Embers of Us is the third title in the Burn for Me series written by Ria Wilde.
What to expect: *Brothers best friend *Age gap *Grumpy / Sunshine
Embers of Us picks up after the second title in the Burn for Me series, it is highly recommended that you read these books in order of release so that you aren’t lost in the story.
Killian is best friends with Savannah’s brother but didn’t really notice her until she returned home from college and started her dancing career. Now that he has noticed her, he can’t pull himself away, no matter how much he feels like he doesn’t deserve her.
Savannah has always noticed Killian, had a little crush on him but never tried to do anything about it. She is focused on her career and buying her dream home, no room for anything else.
These two circled around each other for the first third of the book. Fell in love the second third, and then fell apart due to secrets and accidents during the final third of the book. So much drama during the final third act, car accident, amnesia, murder, breakup, and the setup for the next book in the series.
No OW drama, slight OM drama but no cheating. A lot of push and pull in this title. Slight third act breakup. Ends with a HFN.
Oh my gosh, she does it again. Ria brings us back Into the world of the Burn With Me series, and I completely devoured it! Savannah and Killian had me tangled in their web and I’m still so grossly consumed. I felt every single emotion felt by these characters, my stomach was in knots with the angst and heartbreak throughout the entirety of the second half of the book. As much as I loathe angst and tears, this was crafted so perfectly and the development between the characters was superb. I am SUCH a goner when it comes to a groveling man in love, especially when the author makes his character as heart stopping as Killian. One of my favorite scenes was his breaking point moment of “there’s no turning back after this”, when he realized he couldn’t resist his feelings for Savannah any longer. That part in a plot ALWAYS owns me! Absolutely loved this! Need more ! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Spoilers ahead, so if you don't want to be spoiled, scroll on.
I was torn about this book. I was loving this book up until the middle to end.
This was one of those books that I thought the two characters shouldn't have ended up together. I know, I know. That's not typically something that is said about romance books, but I had no forgiveness.
The FMC ends up in a car accident after the MMC breaks up with her, and she gets amnesia. Instead of telling her about the secret relationship, he keeps it a secret, even when the FMC suspects something happened between them. I was so bitter towards the MMC, and didn't think he groveled enough. I was so heartbroken for the FMC.
Maybe it was because I was on my period at the time of reading, but I may go back and reread when I'm not in the cranky stage of my cycle...
Thank you to the author for an ARC!

Wow! This book caught me by the throat and I was just speechless. I devoured this book in a matter of hours, I couldn’t put it down.
Killian & Savannah’s story is intense, filled with angst, banter, and obstacles. These characters captivated me since the first chapter.
Killian is deranged, obsessed, and undoubtedly in love with his best friend's little sister. This man is everything, from the start he was protective and passionate. He tried so hard to fight his feelings, his internal struggles were heartbreaking and made me love him even more. He was selfless, and it broke my heart when he let her go thinking she was better off without him.
Savannah is a strong FMC, independent, who loves the people around her. She was sunshine to Killian’s darkness and they couldn’t be more perfect for each other. Seeing them go through the ups and downs that life threw at her was an emotional roller coaster.
Killian & Savannah’s relationship was explosive, passionate, intense, and absolutely beautiful.
I am obsessed with this book, the characters, the plot, the spice and everything were so well executed that I wish I could give infinite stars.
I don’t have enough WORDS to describe to you how much I love this book. I have never had a book affect me the way Embers of Us did. I am OBSESSED with Killian and Savannah’s story. I laughed, I cried (I mean full on sobs), I swooned and I was ENVIOUS of Savannah.
Killian Archer is the DEFINITION of the perfect broken book man. He is EVERYTHING. Savannah was one of my favorite FMC and I absolutely LOVED watching her find herself.
Tropes include: Mafia romance BROTHERS BEST FRIEND Touch her and unalive Possessive MMC EMOTIONAL
The chemistry between Savannah and Killian practically sizzled off the pages. I was totally unprepared for the emotional rollercoaster this book took me on. The longing, the heartbreak, the "will-they-won't-they" tension... had my heart in a chokehold (in the best way). Just when I thought we were heading into happily-ever-after territory... a twist that had me glued to the pages, desperate for them to find their way back to each other. Spoiler: I didn't sleep until they did. Killian was dark, broody, and tortured. But the way he loves Savannah was so raw, so pure, so swoon-worthy. His words alone had me melting. This was my first read by this author and I can safely say... it won't be my last.
Okay so after reading this book Brother’s best friend is my new favorite trope. This book. OOF did it to me. Pretending they hate eachother to his how much they really feel. Hidden feelings finally come out when jealousy strikes. Man I can get over this book, with the perfect amount of spice 😮💨😏
Thank you Ria Wilde and Luna lit for allowing me to be an ARC reader of this. Now I just want more of ria’s work.
Savanna has been in love with Killian for a long time but she knows that her brother's best friend doesn't reciprocate her feelings. When she comes back home after finishing college everything changes between then and Savanna takes her chance to be with him. But when she realises that he wants to keep them a secret she will have to decide what she loves mire: Killian or herself. Highly recommended
DNF 26%. It took me 5 days to get this far in, and I just cannot. I’ve never been more surprised in my life at a spicy scene coming out of LITERALLY nowhere. I love Ria’s books, but this one is not it for me. I’m sorry!
ARC read 3.5 stars A quick and easy read, not really a slow burn as most of the story happens in the second part of the book. Could have dived deeper into Killian' back story a bit more, but the story was captivating enough to keep me reading and finish it in 24 hours.
