Shahidi Davis’s world exploded the night Myrddin took over the supernatural world. The child of powerful psychics, Shy was the only member of her family to escape the death the wizard delivered that night. Unfortunately, death still came calling when her power manifested itself. Her first encounter with a ghost earns her a trip to a mental ward. Guided by a very dead Harry Wharton, she begins to come to terms with her abilities. Her gifts lead her to the rebel army where she finds a new family and Rhys Donovan-Quinn. Overflowing with life, he is the perfect balance for a woman mired in so much death.
Zoey Donovan-Quinn needs to find her friends. The Day family is crucial to the war effort against the man who cost her twelve years with her children. More importantly, she loves Sarah, Felix, and Mia. They fled the plane to escape Myrddin, but the doorway Sarah opened was destroyed. Zoey thinks she’ll find another way to reach them on the Faery plane. And she can take this time to connect with Shy, who she’s certain will be her daughter-in-law someday.
But things are not all right in Faery. Zoey, Dev, and Daniel find the royal palace in chaos, while Shy and Rhys get drawn into a problem that could change the plane forever.
NY Times and USA Today bestselling author Lexi Blake lives in North Texas with her husband, three kids, and the laziest rescue dog in the world. She began writing at a young age, concentrating on plays and journalism. It wasn't until she started writing romance and urban fantasy that she found the stories of her heart. She likes to find humor in the strangest places and believes in happy endings no matter how odd the couple, threesome, or foursome may seem.
Her first novel, Their Virgin Captive: Masters of Ménage, Book 1, was a collaboration with New York Times bestselling author Shayla Black. There are five more books available in the series: Their Virgin's Secret, Their Virgin Concubine, Their Virgin Princess, Their Virgin Hostage, and Their Virgin Secretary. The next book in the series, Their Virgin Mistress, is releasing this April.
In addition to the Masters of Ménage series, she is the author of the Masters and Mercenaries series. There are eight full-length novels and four novellas available now, with more coming in 2015.
In 2013, Lexi also began releasing her urban fantasy series, Thieves. The first five are available now, with Ripper, a spin-off to the series, coming in 2015.
3.5-3.75 stars (rounded up to 4). The Rebel Seer is another great addition to one of my favorite series. This book is the continuation of the ongoing series storyline and includes Rhys and Shy's romance. We have seen their romance in glimpses in the other books in the series. Rhys is Zoey/Dev/Daniel's son and a fay "green man", while Shy is an orphan that has been with their group since losing her family as a child. They grew up together and have loved each other since they were young. As the fight for their group is ramping up again the evil wizard Myrrdin, their love story comes into the center focus. The two of them are coming into their powers and seeing who they were truly meant to be, both personally and as a couple. But I won't go into to much more detail so as not to spoil the story.
I enjoyed this book as I have the others in the series. I liked seeing Rhys and Shy's romance blossom as they came into their own. They were very sweet together. I did wish for a little more focus on them as a couple. There are so many characters at this point in this long series, with more being added every book (and this book had doubles of some of the characters that live on a different plane). It is a complicated, often "busy" storyline with lots of moving parts. I love how interesting the stories are and how much genius it takes to invent such intricate world-building. But it can be a little confusing and there is a lot going on. I wish there were some plot points brought to more of a conclusion before more problems arise to be solved. Still, I love the series. I look forward to more from this series and Ms. Blake, hopefully sooner rather than later. These characters have all been through so much and really deserve some peace at last.

Thoughts: As well as the usual tongue in cheek humour that Lexi does so well, I loved the parallel counterparts, and the various machinations that ensued to keep out of the hands of the evil Myrddin. It had a fair bit of spice, another couple solidified with a HFN. There is of course a climax of the story that left me bawling at the end. As with all Thieves stories, you come for the adventure and a bit of spice and leave with that heartwarming book hangover from too many tears. I also loved seeing Sasha find his ever after as he was awesome in the Masters and mercenaries series. If you love Romantasy and Paranormal Romance have not read the Thieves series- run out and start it today- you will not be disappointed.

The latest book in Lexi Blake’s fantasy/paranormal Thieves series and I’m beginning to think there isn’t a genre this author can’t turn her hand to and not have readers fall in love with the worlds she creates. As a rule, I’m not generally a huge fan of this particular genre and it definitely wouldn’t be my first choice but there is something about the world she has created with this series that has me enthralled. The world building is fabulous and the storytelling first class as she uses her words to write a story world full of danger with all the twists and turns you could possibly desire to keep you feverishly turning the pages balanced with a strong thread of humour to bring a touch of levity and ease the tension. Her characters are fabulous and well rounded even the ones you won’t really like very much but can still appreciate and now The Rebel Seer has only added to this world. I loved the character of Shy, so strong but with an air of vulnerability despite everything she’s been through, and she was perfectly matched with Rhys, her opposite but somehow he completed her. The only complaint I have with this book would be the cliffhanger ending, fortunately though I have every confidence all will become clear as the series advances.
The Rebel Seer is an epic reading experience. From the first word to the last you will be captivated, mesmerized, enthralled, bewitched and/or entertained. Take your pick or embrace all. I know I did. In her Acknowledgements Lexi Blake lays out the underlying premise of Seer perfectly. Please make sure you read it. Although this is Rhys and Shahidi's (Shy) story there is so much more going on. Myrrdin is up to his usual dastardly self and the Donovan-Quinn clan gets caught up in it all. There are surprises, discoveries, twists and turns throughout. The last quarter or so of this book made me ugly cry several times but it also warmed my heart. The tide of the battle is slowly but surely turning in ways you could only imagine and only if you're Lexi Blake.
I think I need to switch to PNR books ASAP because I've redeveloped my love for them.
This book pulled me in and didn’t let go until the very end. Everything is still as mysterious and dangerous as it was in the previous book. And despite all that, there’s still room for some good laughter.
The story was fantastic, full of twists and turns that had me glued to my seat, biting my nails (gross, I know), and reading at the speed of light just to find out what happens next. I actually started this series in the middle (book 3), and I’ve become an instant fan—I’m definitely coming back for more.
What an amazing book. You have to savour this book and take your time in reading so you don't miss any little nugget. Lots of little nuggets. What an amazing storyline. You fall in love with the way that Rhys loves Shy. Shy is a beautiful soul. She just loves everyone and every soul she helps. It so nice reading that the different planes have all of the main characters in various alters. That nugget about a sarcastic Taggart was pure joy. What an ending. You definitely needed tissues. Cant wait for the demise of the villain here. Can't wait for the next installment of the Outlaw Thieves series. A definite must read.
These books surprise me EVERYTIME. SEriously, I love this series, the sequels, the littel hints and easter eggs we get from other series. I love the crossover that happened more than once. I just love this.
The characters are under the most well developed ones I have ever read about and even though sometimes I really don't like Queen Zoey, she still adds to the story. I really like to see how this all is going to unravel and I hope we get to see more of Shy in the next books, because she really is awesome!
Lexi does a great job giving just enough back story to convert new readers to this completely addicting series. The Rebel Seer isn't just Rhys and Shy's book. It's a continuation of this storyline that includes Zoey and the gang.
I'm hopelessly obsessed with this series to the point I listen to all the available audiobooks and re-read the the rest of the books.
My nose is sore my eyes are red and I think this book is FANTASTIC! I don’t usually highlight things but, Lexi had some truly profound things to say. Things I want to remember. This is a great series but I absolutely believe you need to start way back at the beginning. Steal the Light is the first book and if you start there you will be sooo happy!
OMG what a wild ride. This series is awesome. Each book can be read as a standalone but the story comes together when read in order. If you enjoy vampires, shapeshifters, witches, magic and fae you will enjoy this series. If you are reading the series this book ends in a cliffhanger which made me literally scream for the next book.
I adore this series, I have been following this series for years and each one is as good as the last. You always find yourself catching up with past friends, their families and new friends along the way. can't wait to see what happens next. As always I can't wait for the next book, I guess anticipation will make me appreciate the next book twice as much. Thanks Lexi for a wonderful read.
So now I’ve reread this entire series MULTIPLE times just so I can remember all of the crap that happened in the books before. I can safely say that this author might have gone slightly off the deep end. She’s got to start wrapping this all up because there’s way too many moving pieces. I can see 1-2 books left, top.
Not as good as the last one; sort of more on par with the second.
Another great addition to the Thieves Series. I was absolutely captivated right from the start. There is so much going on in this story with many surprises and twists and turns. I really liked Rhys and Shahidi. I loved seeing their romance blossom. This story is a great adventure with with all of the emotions and amazing characters. This is definitely a must read!!
This authors imagination has no bounds. Her ability to weave a tail extraordinary. Only problem is reading it in real time...I now have to wait for the next book. Loved it! All of it
These books are always on the top of my list. So twisty but out merry band always come out of it better. I’m thinking a re-read may be in order as it’s been years wine I read the series. Can wait for the next one!
