I didn't think pulling off for a quick bite to eat in a tiny town in the middle of nowhere would change everything. I was wrong.
Now, I'm running through the forest wearing nothing but a red cloak, being hunted by wolves.
I don't know what in the f----d up Red Riding Hood role-play is going on here, but I'm desperate, terrified, and not ready to die. When they attack, I know this is it.
Except…it isn't.
Because the den of wolves that bite me somehow turns into men. Men who swear I'm just like them—a shifter. And as much as I don't want to believe them, I'm not sure they're wrong.
There's a wildness brimming inside me, something monstrous that's threatening to break loose. The den claims they can help me tame it, but they're not the only ones out here in the woods.
Someone trying to drag me from the moonlight into the dark. And it's going to take everything I am, everything I'm becoming, to stop them.
Ivy Asher is addicted to chai, swearing, and laughing a lot (but not in a creepy, laughing alone kind of way). She loves the snow, books, and her family of two humans, and three fur-babies. She has worlds and characters just floating around in her head, and she's lucky enough to be surrounded by amazing people who support that kind of crazy.
I really enjoyed this book in the start but as I went further, the plot dragged on. This book follows the trope of reverse harem and fantasy. Sure, I loved the world building and every single mmc in this book, but i couldn't get past Noah (fmc). She was really annoying and she spent almost 85% of the book debating on whether or not to stay with the mmcs werewolf pack. Those many chapters could've easily been spent on building and adding more to the plot.
Throughout the novel, she repeatedly says she isn't ready to decide, despite the mmcs' constant efforts to protect her, feed her, watch out for her, and even take turns staying in her place to secure her protection from rivals. They were so understanding yet she acted like a brat throughout the book by blaming them for issues they didn't cause.
Given that most of the book is told from her pov, I didn't appreciate it as much as I would have if the mmcs were given more povs.
The threesome scenes were really HOT though 🥵
Here's what to expect:– ➳ Reverse harem (MMMMF) ➳ Paranormal romance ➳ Fantasy (werewolf) ➳ Found family ➳ Cliffhanger ➳ Slow burn
Well. Ivy Asher and Ann Denton have done it again! I will be impatiently waiting for book 2, unable to move on with my life until I know how the cliffie will resolve.
this was addictive as hell with some adorable, devoted, loving mmcs and a relatable, interesting, cool fmc! add in the honest & loveable female friendship and i’m a happy woman. killer cliffhanger though…
This book is so amazing! I absolutely ignored my motherly duties in order to finish this book as fast as a could. Warning there is a HUGE cliffhanger, but I knew that was the case so I really just did it to myself 😅 the sexual tension was dying to release and it did in the best ways. Noah is a lucky girl with 4 incredible men who would do anything for her. She has come a long way in a short time considering she didn’t even know she was as a a wolf. It’s been a long time since i read a book that interested me as much as this one did. Great job! I can’t wait for the next one!!
The story started out stronge but the FMC Noah got annoying and never got better. I liked at first that Noah had a genuine reaction to finding out that she was an eerie and the supernatural world. After a while, it got annoying that she still thought that she had been drugged or the guys were in a cult after they had explained everything.
Most enjoyable for me are the characters, especially heroines journey. I was a bit worried upfront about the comparison with red riding hood, but that was totally unnecessary. It’s a story on it’s own and after 10% in the book I wished I was the one running around in a red cape.
I expected some more spice, but I really enjoyed the build up en when it was there it definitely didn’t disappoint.
The only reason not to give it 5⭐️ is because I would have liked some more depth in pack hierarchy. I’m not quite sure what place a enforcer has. I mean I know what they do, but I’ve never read it as a pack/status.
I started the book thinking it was a standalone, I’ll definitely look forward to the sequel. It’s going to be an inpatient wait.
I really wanted to love this book but it just fell short. I want to preface that I love Ivy Asher’s writing (The Lost Sentinel series is one of my all-time favorite series).
The story started off really well- I loved the red riding hood themes and each of the guys were written well and had distinct looks and personalities. Noah seemed like a resilient character and her banter was very fun.
But the storyline just dragged. Noah (our FMC) refuses to admit her feelings and embrace her instincts while the guys insecurely wait for Noah to make decisions about their future/relationship for 89% of the story. If the amount of chapters focused on Noah’s indecision were condensed, the storyline would have been much more engaging. I also found the ending/cliff hanger very predictable.
Girl spends almost all of the book saying she isn't ready, and being untrusting and whining, then when she finally gets intimate with her guys 87% in the book, I'm bored off my brains (sexy times were hot, but without a connection it just felt meaningless) Then when she finally felt ready, (orgasms will do that to you) bad stuff happens then cliffy.....the end. Zzzzzzzz
Give some broken bonds vibes in all the best ways. I enjoyed the build up of the characters and that while they are “mates” it wasn’t instant love on her end. The world was great and can’t wait for the second!
Still obesessed after this reread and dying for the next book 😫
I always recommend this series to friends who want to get into shifter books or who have had bad experiences with some in the past bc let’s face it - some of them can be mad corny 😭 but this one is SO GOOD.
She’s a lil thick, but def worth the read! There is a major cliffhanger and the next book isn’t out until Feb 2025.
This was just a silly fun time, no thoughts just vibes. I was worried there wouldn’t be much plot but was pleasantly surprised, especially when it got darker and it became more of a thriller with mystery elements. I forgot how much I missed adult urban fantasy.
Ann Denton has become one of my auto-buy authors. Whenever she has a new book coming out I need to have it because I don't even doubt I will love it. However, I got even more excited when I saw this book. Not only because I love the tale of Little Red Riding Hood (or mostly the retellings of that tale), but also because the premise of this story promised a lot of angst and sometimes I just want some of that. I was therefore really excited to dive in.
This book is everything I had hoped it would be and maybe even a little bit more. Although there's technically not even that much happening, plot-wise, the authors do an amazing job describing all the emotions the characters are dealing with. I could feel everything they were feeling while reading. Their fear, their doubts, their panic, but also their love and lust and longing. And although I knew the book would end with a cliffhanger, I kept on hoping things would all work out fine.
I also loved that the heroine was actually freaking out about what had happened and the whole mate bond. Quite often a mate bond is an excuse to write a really fast burn novel. In this case the authors take their sweet time before the characters are ready to act on the attraction and tension they're feeling ever since the Hunt. Especially the heroine needs that time. There is a lot to accept and to her these guys are practically strangers.
And although this book focusses mostly on Noah getting used to her den and the supernatural community in general, I liked how the author naturally inserted a lot of amazing mythology. Of course it helps that Noah knows absolutely nothing about this world either. Explaining everything therefore feels really normal. But it still never feels like everything is explained. A lot of things are not explained. They are shown.
I can't wait to return to this world in the next book. I'm absolutely certain it will be filled with a lot of angst!
This is a slow burn which doesn't actually get spicy until around 80-90%, but once it does happen it's 🥵. Tension/Banter + Spice= 🌶🌶🌶🌶
Our FMC Noah is a nomad, she's on her way to start a new job in a new city. While on her way she gets lost and ends up in a remote town called Howling Rapids. Immediately her spidey senses tingle and she decides that once she eats she'll be on her way. Just as she's about to leave she is caught off guard and assaulted. When she wakes up she is in the woods, wrapped in nothing but a red cape (just as the cover shows). Cue the wolves!! I don't want to give any spoilers so you'll need to read the book to find out what happens next.
This is not a retelling of Little Red Riding Hood. There is no Huntsman that comes to the rescue. There is not one but four wolves and they don't want to eat Noah (well not in the typical sort of way 😉 ).
Into Their Woods ends with a soul shattering cliffhanger, I'm still processing as I write this review!
I feel the need to explain my 3 star rating. It's not that the story wasn't interesting, it was just not as good as I thought it would be. The main storyline about Noah deciding on the mate claim dragged on for way too long. I also didn't connect with either of the guys. But I liked the mystery aspect of it. Also the cliffhanger totally makes me want book two like right now.
Honestly, one of the best shifter books I've read this year, if not the best.
Noah is a woman coming into her own, looking to start life over in a small town in Arizona. On her way, she stops for dinner in the out of the way town of Howling Rapids, never suspecting that her life was about to change forever.
Waking up naked in a forest, wearing nothing but a red cloak, you could forgive a girl for not believing her eyes when she's suddenly surrounded by vicious, snapping wolves. Life only gets more complicated from there on out for Noah.
Into Their Woods is a RH, with, count them, 4 delicious shifters. But this isn't your standard RH, there's danger and intrigue at every turn. There's also some very spicy cross talk, a slow burn leading up to a very explosive cliffhanger. Even though the authors warned about the cliff, I tossed my reader and walked away in a huff, and I'm not one to be usually be upset at a cliffy, but they got me! They got me good, the adrenaline is still coursing through me as I write this!
I highly recommend Into Their Woods, it's an excellent collaboration between two talented writers, Ivy Asher and Ann Denton. If you can handle a cliffhanger that even hit me, being forewarned as I was, go for it, you'll be richly rewarded with 4 sexy shifters and 1 sassy, kick-butt FMC.
Awh man, I was so excited when I saw that Ivy Asher and Ann Denton teamed up and they did not disappoint!
Read this book in one day, it was so addicting. The cliffhanger was brutal but I expected it because I've already had my emotions toyed by these two authors and knew it was coming 😭 but that's why I am here!
I need the second book asap but I'll wait patiently cause I'll forever support their writing 🥲
That moment when you pick up a book you know you’re going to love and have no regrets. I’m so happy Chiara, Vanessa and I (@wordsbychiara, @ve_xo and @pagesofmaria on Instagram) chose this as our March Read Indie With Me book!
I’ve had the pleasure of reading books by both these authors, so naturally when I found out they had published one together I was very intrigued. They are queens of why choose! Their characters are layered and they actually take the time to build the relationships between the female main characters and all the male characters as well as the group dynamic. In a way, their books are pretty slow burn for reverse harem standards, and it was no different here. I absolutely adored all the characters and choosing a favorite man out of the entire Arcan den was difficult. They’re all amazing for different reasons, but most importantly they’re all so good to Noah. Speaking of Noah, I loved her sass and irony. I just wish she would have learned to trust her instincts and the guys sooner. Humanly I understand she’s going through a lot, but I have my reasons, okay?
Despite this being a why choose, which tend to on the spicier spectrum of smutty books because of the number of players involved, I gave this a 3.5 peppers because the spice happens rather late into the book and not very often. Still, it was HOT!
The authors warned us about that cliffy at the end, so I was expecting something brutal to happen but I was still gutted! Can’t wait to dive into the next book!
By the way, do you love indie and readalongs? At the start of this review, I mentioned Read Indie With Me, a brand new monthly readalong group dedicated entirely to indie Romance and Romantasy books. Check us out at @readindiewithme on Instagram!
I honestly didn't know what to expect with this book but I absolutely devoured it. Our fmc Noah (such a cool name) is awesome, funny, relatable, strong, take no $*!# kind of woman. She finds herself in an absolutely terrifying situation but she also finds herself surrounded by four delicious mates who are all about her from the start. We have the intrigue of figuring out who Noah is. Why she didn't know she was Eerie. What her dreams (possibly childhood memories mean). We simultaneously are experiencing her meet the men she is meant for, find her people and her future and discover her raw untapped potential. Book one was a nice hefty read, and it still ended too quickly. I can already tell this is a series I'm going to buy. Eagerly awaiting book two!
This book pulled me in so quickly and ticked all the boxes… World Building… Plot… Action… Suspense… Drama… Secrets… Revelations… Romance… Slow Burn… This book ends in a HUGE cliffhanger, so be warned!!! And no timeline for the second release…
Ok I just had to come here and recommend this book! It was a slow burn new take on red riding hood and a PNR reverse harem who done-it mystery. Honestly fairy tale remakes are not my trope of choice but this was absolutely wonderful, the FMC is HILARIOUS, the men are all in and oh so tempting and the mystery keeps you enthralled.
Wow...5 stars for a reverse harem wolf shifter little red riding hood retelling??
HELL.YES. I mean. Wow. Round of applause. Excellent work. What do I do until October?? What kind of egregious acts do I need to commit in order to get an ARC copy of the 2nd book?
I'm very happy I put down all of my other current reads to hang out here for a few days.
