Twenty-year-old "Lucky" Elita Diaz knows two things with absolute certainty. First, that she has just been handed a death sentence by being forced to represent her tribe in the Savage Ascendancy-a once-in-a-generation battle for the Azarian throne. Second, that she isn't lucky at all. Until now, she's lived a simple life alongside her elephant companions, but life as she knows it is about to change.
Forced from her home with her elephant, Ayla, Elita must navigate a treacherous jungle filled with lethal predators, dark magic, and rivals who would rather die than see the Elephant Tribe take the throne. Though years of surviving the marshlands have made her a skilled hunter, the jungle is unlike anything she's faced before. But the jungle isn't her only threat. Azrael Night, the ruthless champion from the Shadowfang tribe, ignites something unexpected in Elita-passion. As love blurs into danger, Elita must make an impossible choice: seize the crown or break the cycle of bloodshed that has ruled the jungle for centuries. To survive she'll have to risk everything--including her life.

Wow! Pamoja is a super fantastic surprise! I left this book not only highly impressed but massively excited for its sequel. It’s a riveting journey that will thrill at all times, give skin-prickling frights, and may break a heart or two along the way. But those hearts will be filled to the brim with love for how much this story makes you care so deeply for its incredible cast, especially its lead heroine. Pamoja is a high stakes adventure I plan to see through to the very end!

Elita “Lucky” Diaz is facing her impending death, as she has been left with no choice but to represent her tribe in the Savage Ascendancy. A battle through a danger-filled jungle between tribes, all to claim the Azarian throne. Reluctant and against the ruthless bloodshed of this event, Elita’s woes are compounded by the fact she is already the target for a rival tribe leader, Azrael Night. The tension between them is fierce, in more ways than one…

The world-building is terrific. From setting, to competition, to the telepathic animal companions. I was like a kid in a candy shop, devouring it all. And it works in so many great ways. It feels like such a refreshing, unique approach in romantic fantasy, while also enticing readers who loved the likes of Fourth Wing and Hunger Games. Pamoja brings its A game. And it’s a game led strongly by its heroine.

Elita/Lucky is a formidable lead. I love how well balanced her character is, she can be both sharp and soft. Both strong and vulnerable. Never one thing, but a wonderfully multifaceted complex character that feels tangible, relatable, and inspired. Then we have our love interest Azrael. The beginnings of their meetings are filled with much venom spat between them. Azrael truly feels like a threat to Lucky’s very existence. I did wish there had been more of a shift in their relationship dynamic, it felt a bit too abrupt with the prickly sharpness turned soft, but that qualm feels so fleeting in the grand scheme of things. Because once that turn settles, I was all in for Azrael and his bond with Lucky. Azrael is a true enigma, you can’t truly guess his moves or thoughts, but you come to feel safe in knowing he will place Lucky’s safety above all else. Their burgeoning bond is so intense, electric, and fiery. I loooooved it!

We also have a wonderful supporting cast to help further elevate this story. Every participant has their telepathic animal companions, and for Lucky that would be her fabulous elephant Ayla. Their connection, even when distance is between them, is so special! The animal companions are a wonderful way to bring that extra touch of humanity amidst all the jungle bloodshed, as we see how deeply connected Lucky is with Ayla. And the human cast is truly an eclectic bunch, a group that will have you loving some, intentionally hating others, and having your heart ripped out by one in particular. The latter’s particular storyline had me reeling. It’s a specific arc that is well set up from its onset. I knew it was coming, gosh I knew and I still hoped and prayed and lit candles along the way urging that it wouldn’t. But it did, because it had to. It’s a huge turning point that will trample on your heart, serving both in pushing the plot forward and in demonstrating the excellent skill by the author in making you care for secondary characters. It hurts because these characters come to matter to the reader, in this particular case, this character came to matter deeply. It allows the journey to become all the more precious, knowing what is truly at stake.

Katie Reiser’s writing is enchanting, impressive, and has made me a fan for life with just this one book read. Pamoja is a journey that excites, breaks your heart, and leaves you breathless. You won’t want to miss out on this epic adventure!

Thank you kindly to Katie Reiser for this advanced complimentary copy, I leave this honest review voluntarily. 4.5

“A stubborn flame flickers inside me—small, relentless, and impossible to snuff out. It whispers the same cruel command every day: keep moving. Keep hoping. Keep fighting for something that might never come true.”

I had the absolute HONOR of ARC reading this book and let me tell you, this is definitely one to add to your TBR. It’s one of those books where you can just tell that the person who wrote it loved what they were writing and put their soul into it. Once I started reading, I truly couldn’t put it down. I breezed through it so fast and I wish I hadn’t because I miss it already.

This book follows Elita, the daughter of the Chief of Tribe Tempo, as she competes in a deadly competition called the Ascendancy, where one victor will claim Pamoja’s throne. Each competitor has an animal companion that they can speak with in their minds (think Tairn and Andarna in Fourth Wing). They must fight their way through the jungle of Pamoja and be the first to reach the throne in order to claim it. It’s very much Jumanji meets Hunger Games written as a romantasy!

What to expect:
- a deadly competition with trials and high stakes
- animal companions with a lot of personality (especially Elita’s elephant Ayla, she’s hilarious)
- a really beautifully written and well thought out world
- a cool and unexpected magic system
- mysteries, lots of mysteries
- SOME HOT TENSION BETWEEN THE FMC AND MMC
- some aaaaamazing romance
- a LIIIIITTLE bit of “open door” spice that’s incredibly well written and perfectly placed in the storyline in my opinion
- a lot of unexpected plot twists and turns
- friendships, alliances, and betrayal
- gore…
- to cry. You should expect to cry. But only because this book does a great job at making you feel things.

Thank you, Katie, for writing this book and letting me read it. You’re an amazing author and I can’t wait for more readers to get this book in their hands!

I was lucky enough to be one of the BETA readers and was able to watch as Pamoja came to life and changed and evolved into the masterpiece you will be reading shortly!

After the reigning monarch dies one member of each of the tribes of Azaria is sent to fight for the chance to take the throne. From the beginning this book is like nothing I’ve ever seen before. The jungle setting is so beautifully crafted and written that you are quite literally thrown into the jungle along with the protagonist Elita Diaz. From the very first chapter you’re able to see exactly why it is called the “Savage Ascendancy” and the stakes only get higher as the story progresses and you meet all the characters and their animal companions. Our MMC does not disappoint he is the sexy scared morally grey Azreal of the ShadowFang tribe that absolutely wants to kill our girl Elita (pro tip of you follow Katie on social because the character art does not disappoint;) ) life is the jungle is wild as they all fight to get to the King’s temple first and it’s kill or be killed. Alliances are formed and broken and enemies are forced to become allies as the stakes are higher than ever!
If a broody MMC and a badass FMC are your vibe I HIGHLY recommend you read this absolute masterpiece and find out for yourself just how savage the jungle can be!

From start to finish I didn’t want to put it down! Katie has a way with words that made me want to keep reading. Her writing and characters have such personality.

I laughed I held my breath. My jaw hit the floor. 3 hours that’s how long I took to read it because when I saw I didn’t put it down I meant it!

The part I enjoyed the most: this isn’t your typical fantasy setting the setting the animal companions, the magic. All of it was so beautifully intertwined in the story! Oh and did I mention it has one of my favorite things ever, tension, it was thick.

Every twist and turn I ate up. It’s like jungle book meets the mummy with the animals, intrigue and slow burn. Azrael is definitely an MMC to love and Elita we protect her at all costs!

Thank you so much Katie Reiser for allowing me the opportunity to arc read for you!

I really enjoyed this book!! I haven’t never read a book with jungle vibes and bonded jungle animals! I freaking loved that and it was something new!
I loved all the twist and turns and the heartbreak of certain loved characters not making it 😭 I loved how much the jungle was really apart of the fight for the throne… it wasn’t just champion vs champion but champion vs champion vs JUNGLE!!! Really added to the story, to the fun and surprise!
Azrael was also a nice surprise what really started as enemies really grew into … well gotta go read it for yourself 😘
But let me tell you I love me a Night Prowler hehe!!

Katie Reiser Pamoja is a breathtaking novel that redefines the fantasy drama genre with its originality, emotional depth, and unforgettable characters. From the moment you step into the vibrant, yet perilous, world of Azaria, you're immediately captivated.
At the heart of the story is Elita, also known as Lucky, a fierce and determined female protagonist whose journey from grief-stricken survivor to empowered leader is both inspiring and empowering. Her resilience in the face of betrayal, particularly the shocking and early loss of her twin brother, Ezra, and her ability to channel pain into purpose make her a standout heroine.
The family dynamics in the story are deeply explored, particularly the complex and ultimately tragic relationship between Elita and her twin brother, Ezra. Their bond, marked by love, betrayal, and devastating loss, adds emotional depth and complexity to the narrative.
Azrael, the MMC, truly breaks the mold of traditional fantasy love interests. He is layered, vulnerable, and intensely loyal, with a moral complexity that keeps readers intrigued. His initial antagonism towards Elita, rooted in past events and tribal animosity, slowly blossoms into a powerful connection built on mutual respect and emotional depth, complementing her strength rather than overshadowing it. Their evolving relationship, marked by witty banter and undeniable chemistry, is a highlight, especially when Azrael's protective instincts emerge.
The originality of the plot is striking, with the Savage Ascendancy, a brutal, high-stakes competition where only the fittest prevail, serving as a unique and compelling backdrop. The inclusion of animal companions adds a refreshing and mystical element to the story. These companions, such as the loyal elephant Ayla and the fierce panther Bhags, are integral to the plot, symbolizing strength, loyalty, and the untamed magic of the world. Their deep bonds with their human counterparts, including Ayla's telepathic communication with Elita, add emotional depth and a sense of unity that sets this book apart. The treacherous journey through Azaria, filled with deadly challenges, keeps the stakes incredibly high. Katie Reiser's vivid world-building and masterful storytelling make Pamoja a triumph. If you're looking for a fantasy drama with a strong female lead, a refreshingly unique male protagonist, and a plot filled with intrigue, betrayal, heart-wrenching loss, and ultimately, redemption, this book is an absolute must-read. You will be fully immersed in Azaria and desperately rooting for Elita every step of the way.

“Panic is like the ocean at night. It can seem never-ending, like there’s no way out…but I am here for you. Ayla is here for you. A beacon in the distance, a lighthouse.”

I was lucky enough to BETA read this book.

Pamoja is a fantasy romance novel set in a jungle filled with magic and deadly predators. The story follows Elita "Lucky” Diaz, who is chosen to represent her tribe in the Savage Ascendancy, a brutal competition for the throne. Accompanied by her loyal elephant companion, Ayla, Elita must navigate the dangers of the jungle while facing rivals determined to prevent her tribe from claiming the throne. During this she encounters Azrael, Prince of Panthers and member of the Shadowfang tribe, who stirs unexpected feelings leaving her torn between her duty to seize the crown and her desire to end the cycle of bloodshed.

I loved loved loved the jungle premise of this and think it was so unique and fresh for a fantasy. Obviously the animal companions were a highlight for me and it was amazing having different tribes embodying different qualities and animals. This was perfectly paced and there was not a dull page with the mix of action, politics and romance absolutely hitting the spot. You know those books you get so sucked into you can’t help but daydream about yourself there, which animals you’d want as a companion, how you’d do in the race - I love that so much and it’s been a while since a book drew me in like this. Also, the FMC, Elita, is such a vibe, lil bit clumsy, lil bit bad vision, lil bit distracted by a good looking man, no control of facial expressions but still a total badass - I relished having someone relatable in a deadly trials fantasy she was brilliant. The snark and banter between Elita and Azrael was leg kicking, gleeful giggles good also - absolutely a must read when this releases because the twist and the ending floored me I HAVE SO MANY QUESTIONS and need book two yesterday.

Looking for an action-packed jungle romantasy with a fierce fmc,and plot twists that will leave you speechless? Allow me to introduce Pamoja by Katie Reiser a story that truly showcases the beauty, and dangers of the jungle to a whole new level of survival.

The story follows the fmc Elita the chieftess of the Tempo tribe, and her quest of survival in the ascendancy a brutal challenge that takes place in the Azaria jungle.Only one tribe may win the throne.

Mrs.Reiser's writing is powerful, and I appreciated seeing Latin, mental health, and girl power representation.Mrs.Reiser is not afraid to challenge the status quo,and created a story that leaves a long lasting impact for readers.

The enemies to lovers romance has banter with a dash of spice, and the way that the mmc treats his woman like a queen is everything!👑🐘

From start to finish I loved the Jungle book, Jumanji, and Hunger Games vibes.🌺 There's animal companions that definitely stole the spotlight especially Ayla the fierce elephant from the Tempo tribe. Also loved Bhags the panther his loyalty & protective nature reminds me of Bagheera.

I hereby give Mrs.Reiser the title of plot twist queen because she is a master of creating jaw-dropping scenes. The first chapter, and the last chapter left me absolutely speechless.😱

Add this incredible story to your tbr if you love:
1.Plot twists
2.He falls first
3.Fierce fmc
4.Magic & animal companions
5.Banter with a dash of spice
6.Jungle book,Jumanji,and hunger games vibes.
7. Mental health, latin, and girl power representation.
8.Found family

Thank you Mrs.Reiser for the opportunity to read Pamoja.🐘🌺 I am definitely team Tempo tribe, and I look forward to reading the sequel.✨️

It was a really interesting story, loved Elita and her character, loved the animals and their attitudes and the overall premise was great.

The world building fell a little flat for me, I found myself going back a few pages at times because something would be said or referenced and I felt I missed something but actually it was never mentioned before this time. I felt like the dialogue was also a bit lacking sometimes when we were supposed to be learning something, like not enough questions were asked or the subject would randomly be changed. I'm not looking for hand holding through a book, but I did feel like I was missing something more than once. And maybe that's just me. Maybe this book was too smart for me, which very well could be.

mild spoiler
Like Alya can heal her...and that's it? No more to that, no more info on why, no other reference at all? just Her trunk touched her face and she is magically healed... I would have loved a bit of world building there, like why? Is that a special Elephant only thing? Is that something her tribe can do? Do all companions have a special ability?

Like Elita was learning so many things during this journey and I felt like she kinda was like "yeah cool, lets move on"

Big Spoiler after this.....

The last scene really confused me...I still dont know how Erza was there, he's a chameleon but he has a tiger companion?..but in the end the tiger...killed him...or he just died because magic? And what was happening to Alya?? I'll let that one be that as it was part of the cliffhanger but I do feel like that could have been more thought through so I felt more like I was being left asking "what's going to happen?" and not asking "what happened?"

“Do it again.”
(And just like that, I melted into a puddle of obsession.)

Okay besties, buckle in—this was one of those enemies-to-lovers stories that goes hard. We’re talking "I swear I’ll kill you" to "I’ll burn the world for you" levels of tension 😮‍💨

Meet Lucky, fierce and stubborn, who somehow keeps surviving every near-death moment this wild journey throws at her. And then there’s Azrael—broody, powerful, terrifying… and so freaking hot I had to pause and scream into my pillow. If "Touch her and I'll destroy you" had a face, it would be him.

The animal companion concept?? OBSESSED. Each character bonded to magical creatures with unique abilities?? Instant sell. The Ascendency Trials added that deadly, edge-of-your-seat thrill and made the stakes feel real every second. And the Pamoja Centre? I swear I could smell the air and feel the wind—it was so vividly written.

The writing? Lyrical. Emotional. It wrapped me in a chokehold of FEELS. And when Lucky SLAPS Azrael and he says “Do it again”? 😳😳😳 I had to fan myself. Literally the hottest moment of the book. And then the way he protects her later?? I was GONE.

Was everything crystal clear? Not really. But that’s the beauty of a good fantasy with secrets—you know book two is going to ruin you even more. Especially after that jaw-dropping cliffhanger. I was screaming. Chanting. Cursing. Losing my mind. Babe, I did not see that reveal coming.

✨ If you love high-stakes romance, magical creatures, cutthroat competitions, and a hero who'll destroy the world for his girl, this book needs to be on your TBR like yesterday.

PS: Lucky & Ayla's (her companion) bond?? Just perfection!! 💖

This book was AMAZING! I honestly don't think I've read anything like it before. Chapter One really kicked things off, and I knew I was going to love it. Elita Diaz, or Lucky, from the Tempo Tribe is part of the Ascendancy to see which tribe will now take the throne. Katie created such a lush world that Elita, her elephant companion Ayla, and her band of allies have to trek through in order to have a shot as ascending. Nothing is as it seems, and there's danger lurking at every turn and magic everywhere in the jungle, magic that tries to kill those trying to ascend. She winds up stuck with her enemy, Azrael Night (new shadow daddy alert!!) and their banter was just hilarious! Their tension was so good, and this one is a slooowwww burn, so beware. They build allyships and friends along the way but experience some deep betrayals too, seeing how the desire for power changes people. Elita was such a strong character, despite all her emotions and pain, she's pushing through to see it through. She feels weak and unprepared compared to others, but she doesn't let it stop her. Her newly found friends all help each other out, escaping death each and every single day.
I loved the sense of adventure, the incredible world building, and descriptions. I never knew where the book would take me and I am UNWELL after the ending (and another scene Katie is very well aware broke my heart, she knows what she did 👀 and I may have screamed in her DMs about it). I still have so many questions!!

Such a fun & original story set in a completely unique world! Think Hunger Games with a Jumanji/Indiana Jones vibe 🌿

The Savage Ascendancy:
The King of Beasts is dead. Now, one leader from each tribe of Azaria must embark on a treacherous journey through the jungle; competing for the throne alongside their chosen animal companions.

“Anyone can be strong. It’s the strength of your heart that truly matters.”

Once sworn enemies, Elita “Lucky” Diaz from Tempo Tribe becomes begrudging allies with Azrael Night from Shadowfang. There is an undeniable pull toward one another, delicious banter & a truly sloooow burn 🤤

(Who doesnt love a lusty, tension filled sparring sesh with a devastatingly beautiful shadow daddy? *wiggles eyebrows*)

“This won’t be the last time my teeth are at your throat”.
…“You promise?”

If the humans themselves weren’t enough of a threat, the magic of the forest also tries to kill them along the way: Acid fog, vicious vines, impromptu labyrinth, killer birds, etc.

Azrael’s animal companion is a panther, but Elita seems to be the one with 9 lives 🤭

In the end, can love prevail over the desire for power?
& who will wear the crown?

Excited to get all the answers in the next book(s)!

So honored to be part of the street team for this series & wishing you all the success Katie, you deserve it 🫶🏼

Okay, so I just finished Pamoja and honestly… wow. The character development in this book is everything. Elita starts off so unsure of herself, like she’s been thrown into something way bigger than her, and you can really feel her fear and doubt. But as the story goes on, you actually get to watch her grow into someone strong and fearless.

And Ayla, her elephant? She cracked me up but also held the story together in the best way. Their bond shows this softer, more playful side of Elita that balances all the intensity, and I loved that so much.

Then there’s Azrael… not at all the typical “enemy” character you’d expect. He’s broody, morally grey, layered, and the tension between him and Elita is so good. But what I loved most is that it’s not just romance fluff-it actually challenges her and makes her growth even more powerful.

While you’re reading, expect high-stakes trials, shifting alliances, betrayals, and moments that will leave you holding your breath. The jungle setting is so vivid it feels alive, and the mix of danger, mystery, humor, and heart makes it impossible to put down.

By the end, I felt like I’d been on the whole journey right alongside Elita. She doesn’t just survive, she changes, and it makes you genuinely proud of her. I closed the book and immediately thought, I’m going to miss these characters.

I loved the premise of this book! Our Female Main Character, Elita aka "Lucky", is a latina woman and first in line to take over her tribe, Tempest, in this rainforest, high stakes, "Amazing Race"-esque competition that is magical and life-threatening.

✨️I LOVE the relationship she has with her animal companion, Ayla the elephant.

✨️Of course we love a brooding, mysterious, morally grey MMC and enemies to ...👀

✨️The side characters are so loveable

✨️The settings are breathtakingly immersive!

I feel like it would have been better for me if we got more insight into the friendships, relationships, backstories, magic system & history of their tribes...it felt like some of these things were just thrown in or forgotten about and I was confused at times.

Overall the book is engaging, the plot is PLOTTING and the romance is heating up! I can't wait to see what happens next and I'm sure we'll get to see inside a lot of these areas I pointed out.

Thank you so much for the ARC, Katie and I will definitely be picking up the next book!!

I was fortunate enough to get an ARC for this novel and people, you aren't ready.

The whole premise of Elita's story (which is what I'm calling it because Azrael is important, but this story is so clearly about her journey) drew me in from the moment I read the synopsis. She's smart, capable and fierce with an impossibly kind heart.

The companions are so much fun. I adore Ayla. Elephants hold such a special place in my heart, and I feel like the author treated them with the respect and reverence they deserve. All of the animals are pretty amazing.

The concept of all of the different tribes and their patron animals is one of the things I love most about this book. I can't wait to find out more about them in future novels.

The Savage Ascendancy is a BRUTAL thing, and that twist at the end? SHOOK.

The Latinx representation is marvelous. Give me more!

Overall, I really enjoyed this read. I devoured it!

This was a very emotionally in-depth read!

We all know I'm a sucker for trial based fantasy 🤭 and then throw in some animal sidekicks, magic and a sentient jungle and I AM THERE!!!

This wasn't as full on and bloodthirsty as I'd first imagined it would be. I found the story really deeply revolved around the feelings of the characters, Especially Lucky and what she was trying to navigate through while in the ascension trials. Girl is just out here trying to survive the jungle!

I loved the concept of the different tribes and their animal companions and being bonded. The jungle seemed so unforgiving and unreasonable but also serene and sacred at the same time? I think this will be touched on further in the books to come!!

Overall a great fun read! Only in the 300 page range so a quick and enjoyable book to pick up!

Pamoja was a deeply beautiful, intense and powerful story. The way I connected to all the characters especially Elita and Azrael, was truly an amazing experience. I cant wait to see what the next book brings.

Not only does Katie write a captivating setting with the most beautiful descriptions that make you feel so immersed in the world she builds, she writes plot twists you don't see coming. From the first chapter, I was thrown so off guard in the best way 😍

Plus we love the amazing animal companions 🐘🐈‍⬛🦍 (don't have a panther emoji so a black cat will work)

💜 Enemies to Lovers

💜 Touch her and die
💛 Sentient Jungle
💜 Betrayals that cut deep
💛 Slow Burn

🌸Fave Quotes:

“This won’t be the last time my teeth are at your throat,” he swears"

“Anyone can be strong. It’s the strength of your heart that truly matters.”

“What was that, Lucky? You too much of a coward to fuck me, yourself?”

“I don’t think there’s a force strong enough to make my girl do something she doesn’t want to. Isn’t that right, Lucky?”

"the subtle shift in his expression tells me everything I need to know— Cross him, and you’ll regret it. Touch me, and you won’t make it out alive."

"His presence is an anchor, and I finally feel... safe."

“I want to kneel before you as you sit on that throne.”

“Recognition slams into me, cold and real. This isn’t just a man. He’s a storm, and somehow, I’m caught at the center of it.”

AYYYYY. This as such an awesome debut romantasy! You’re thrown into the brutal world of Azaria IMMEDIATELY. Like no, really, chapter one I was like “….damn…so this is how it’s going to be…”.

The action? Non stop. The twists & turns? Non stop. Blushing & lusting after a certain SHADOW DADDY? Also-non stop.

FMC Elita is a little unsure of herself in her quest for the Azarian throne in the beginning, but make no mistake, she really is a badass in her own right & can absolutely hold her own.

Pamoja is filled with deadly jungle trials, fierce friends, and the most amazing animal companions. (My sweet elephant baby Ayla, I love you so much.)

I may rewrite this review later because I quite literally finished the book a couple minutes ago, and I’m experiencing the five stages of grief again.

There wasn’t a dull moment in Pamoja. The perfect balance of action, romance, drama, and comedy. I genuinely couldn’t describe it better than that, and I am soooo excited to see what happens next! Being part of the street team felt like being part of the journey and Lucky Diaz has become one of my top five female protagonists. And who doesn’t love a brooding shadow guy to match?

A fresh new take on the fantasy genre with diversity and inclusion to match. If you have not pre-ordered the book yet (snazzy special edition on Katie’s website) or checked out chapter one yet, you need to do it asap.

Captivating from chapter 1, never lets you go, and leaves you aching for more!
This book is packed full of action, heartbreak, mystery, and sprinkled with spice!
It truly felt like reading a book that took all the classic action/jungle movies and made a master piece out of them.
The scenery and characters were painted beautifully, giving you so much to envision!
The FMC has so much personality, so much raw emotion, she’s so easy to connect with. The MMC, hot, angsty, mysterious, but secretly a little soft..? Gobbled that sh*t right up!
The unlikely relationship she built with the other contestants was not what I expected but definitely loved.
And the Twist after Twist after Twist!! Why!? My heart can’t take it!! I literally cannot wait for book 2, I will be impatiently waiting.

I have not screamed this much over a man since Xaden Riorson 😍

This book is fast and tropey, but still different enough to be enjoyable. I loved the setting and the characters so so much! And the mystery?? I love when the epigraphs rewrite your whole perception. I’m going to need to read it at least five more times. I do have some choice words for the author about a certain something that happens but I won't spoil it for you here 😇 Katie, you should know that I too make promises, not threats. 👀

Okay. Wow. I’m A C T U A L L Y speechless.
Pamoja completely wrecked me in the best way possible. I went in expecting something cool, but I did not expect to be THIS obsessed. Like, I finished the last page and just sat there staring into the void because—what just happened?! I need the sequel yesterday.

KATIE GIVE ME AN ARC FOR BOOK TWO I BEG????

I flew through this book, read it in less than 24 hours! The imagery and world building was so beautiful. The FMC was amazing, and so was the MMC. The tension was so well written, and the ending… Can’t wait for the next one!

Very hunger games and a bit of like the golden compass, if anyone remembers that? I also got divergent vibes! So if you like any of those, you will love this book! I love that the main character is a thick Queen ❤️ The slow burn had me on the edge of my seat! I can’t wait for what’s next!

I found this one off a friend on Insta. This was my first intro to this author. Again, same as her previous book, the writing was mediocre for me, but good story. There were parts where my heart felt the suspense, but again, the story wasn't consistent enough for me and there were times were I didn't feel connected to the FMC. I'll probably still read the second book when it comes out. This author is growing as a write so I would keep my eye on her!
