Book Review: Vicariously by Allasandra Buckner (@byallasandra)
Stars: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5
The story had me gripped from the beginning, showing very real struggles that teenagers and new adults have, especially involving family trauma, generational setbacks and the lost sense of belonging. The book discusses several problems that modern day relationships go through from the perspective of the main character named Abby and Abby’s journey is one filled with painful realisations and healing from the things she has lost.
Allasandra has done a great job portraying heavy struggles in the most emotionally mature manner possible and I enjoyed the writing style as it was something different than what I am used to. The plot severely thickens through a very well executed plot twist that had me loving this book!
I loved reading this ARC and would most definitely recommend you to try it! Great job done on Allasandra’s part writing this book! It was my honour to have been selected for this ARC.
2.5 stars It’s an interesting concept. I wanted to enjoy this. The author is a sweetheart and at least she’s published something, which is more than I can say for myself. The perspectives switch a little too frequently for it to make sense. And then the whole explanation of the storyline after the last chapter from the author - that’s a prime example of telling instead of showing and should not have been necessary.
I loved this book!!! I read the synopsis going in and immediately was taken away with the story. The story is easy to read, has some wonderful quotes, and has a couple plot twists that will leave you shocked. I cried during a couple parts and saved a few quotes and this book will be one of those that sticks in my mind for ages. The ending was also very sweet and the FMC got her happy ending. 10/10. The author also explained a bit more at the very end just in case some plot points were confusing to readers. Good job allasandra 🥰
Where do I even begin?! I think I have a new fav author 🤩 the twists??? Absolutely amazing. The ending had me In tears!! You can really tell how much emotion was put into writing this and I think that is what made this book so special. Thank you so much for the arc and the chance to review it❤️❤️
I'm gonna riot. I-I'm not sure how to explain this authors need to increase my heart rate to almost unsustainable heights but she does it well. Give this a read, you will not regret it. Twists and turns everywhere. Some you can see or at least guess at but only if you're looking hard enough. Brave Allasandra, I loved this!
