It took awhile to get into it, I was in a reading slump some might say.

The character development between alessa and cam was great to see. There were parts that I felt were flashing lights and none of the characters seemed to realize what was going on.

Shattered did not disappoint! After blazing through Glitched I couldn't wait to start reading Shattered. I did not expect the lapse in time between the two books but it is a wise choice. I particularly love how relationships developed in the gap and Shattered started of with new dynamics.

Once again the ingenious world created by Eisley Rose pulls you into the shadow world of intrigue and all things Spartan. I particularly love that she doesn't make Sparta a perfect world and sticks to all the tropes and history (as we understand it) to give the full feel of being an outsider. Shattered delivers a follow up punch to the well crafted story and character arcs. The action is exciting and fun to read. The romantic tension between characters ebbs and flows in relatable ways that add further depth to all the characters involved.

And once again, more intrigue and suspense is added!

Please, please, please hurry up with book 3!!!!!

Thank you to Eisley Rose for providing me with an ARC of this book. All opinions are my own.

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐ (3/5 stars)

I was excited to continue The Glitched Series after reading the first book, but Shattered unfortunately didn’t land for me the way I had hoped. While I was eager to see where Alessa’s journey would take her, I struggled with the execution of the plot, pacing, and writing, which made it difficult for me to stay immersed in the story.

The pacing felt inconsistent, with moments that dragged and others that moved too quickly to fully absorb what was happening. The writing itself often felt disjointed, making it difficult to connect with the characters and their emotional arcs. While I appreciate complex storytelling, the plot twists felt more like abrupt swerves than carefully placed surprises, which made the story feel confusing rather than engaging.

Conceptually, this book had all the elements of something I would love—Spartan warriors, espionage, mythology, and high-stakes action. However, instead of feeling like a natural evolution of the first book, the execution of these ideas left me feeling more lost than intrigued. Normally, I have no problem suspending disbelief in fantasy and sci-fi, but something about this book made that difficult for me. Whether it was the writing style or the way the story was structured, I just couldn't immerse myself the way I wanted to.

While this book didn’t quite work for me, I do think fans of Glitched who were deeply invested in the first installment might find more to enjoy here. I hope the next book finds its footing and delivers a stronger continuation for the series.

In book 2 of the ongoing Glitched series, following the events of book 1, Alessa continues the search for her missing sister, Kai. Along the way, she realizes she can’t do this alone & must return to the place she’s called home. But home is looking quite differently these days in more ways than one. Furthermore, a new threat emerges when the power-hungry head of Greenfield Farms with an all-too familiar connection introduces a sugar substitute, Ambrosia, with unknown side effects albeit not likely to benefit humanity. It’s also revealed Alessa made a deal with Hades, god of the underworld: kill the four men who tortured her in the previous book or suffer the consequences. Only one of the targets still lives. Can Alessa hold up her end of the bargain while also staying the course in her search for Kai?

Having enjoyed the first book, I was very much looking forward to starting this one. Only reason I’m giving this book three stars is because there were several moments where I felt frustrated & a strong sense of injustice with all that was happening with Alessa. Without spoiling anything, a lot happens in this book, which certainly made for a fast read, yet there were a lot more events that needed to happen or should have had a different outcome for me to feel satisfied. I’m hoping book 3 will have more of those moments.

Alessa is back again and she is struggling with the deal she made with Hades. She’s devastated after a fire where she believes she lost the love of her life. When she finds out that he’s still alive she is battling feelings of anger, hurt, and so much more as she navigates her life, an impatient god and finding her sister who is still missing.

I loved book one, but this was even better! It will keep you hooked. So many questions were answered and many more popped up. What’s going to happen? I loved the inclusion of the gods more in this book and being with her as she tries to get through this. This had me in my feels. I read this book as a beta reader and the author was receiving many comments of anger (not her but holy crap the stuff Alessa and Damon go through). I would recommend this book for anyone who doesn’t want a book that is out into one box. You get so much from this series; ie action, adventure, thriller, love, strong women, a little spice, urban fantasy, a small dose of sci-fi and so much more! You will not be disappointed with Eisley Roses debut series and I can’t wait for the next two books in this series!

Arc Read: Heading back into the world of the Spartans, We follow Alessa as she deals with the aftermath of the devastating loss of the love of her life, Her deal with a God and the fight to save her sister Kai. With more world building and a glimpse into the hierarchy of the Spartan world Eisley Rose spins a tale of action, lost love, budding romance and the feelings of a people let down by their governing body. Appropriate for the current times, Shattered is a glimpse into what happens when a strong woman with unfailing morals is left with a shattered view of her people and her own life.

SPOILERS ABOUT THE ENDING!!

There's a lot happening in this book and the pacing is interesting. Some things feel rushed while others drag on. Unfortunately I found myself skimming at times due to the repetitive nature of the Alessa/Damon/Brielle triangle. I really enjoyed the first book, but 2 books in and somehow these elite, immpeccably trained warriors are unable to catch the bad guy and it doesn't make sense, especially given Alessa's new powers. This one just didn't hit the same for me. 🤷‍♀️

Finished reading this yesterday and I couldn't put it down. I had planned to stretch out the experience over several days but the chapters roll so smoothly that the next thing you know you are 10 chapters down. Characters are amazing and their twists and turns through the whole story really pulls you in. Shattered picks right up in the action where Glitched ended and its a very wild ride the whole way.

This dystopian fantasy with spice is the second in the series and I can't wait for the next book. Alessa is the Spartan warrior we all wish we could be. Her bad ass saga continues chasing down the same evil from the first book. All the questions I had from Glitched have been answered but not necessarily resolved. The characters are even deeper beloved. The trauma feels real. The stakes are the highest. This is the perfect series to reread.

This second book of the series was good. It had me on my toes, which it had me all in my feelings! These characters have been through heck between the two books, and this was left on a cliffhanger! I really was rooting for Damon and Alessa from the first book! Then Cam was still around. Things got heated up after things happened. She deserves all the good deeds and good things coming her way! I definitely want to find out what happens next book!!! 🫶🥹

This one was just as action packed as the first but the story goes deeper into the characters and you learn more about the Spartan world. Alessa struggles to heal from the trauma of what she went through in book one but is determined to save her sister and save the world. This story is both beautiful and heartbreaking and left me messaging the author to find out if she has started book three yet! I need more of this world and I need to know what will happen next.

The world created by Eisley Rose with intrigue, mythology, and technology is unlike anything I’ve ever read. I cannot wait for the next book to see what other twists and unexpected turns we take with these memorable characters. I refuse to give spoilers but you will not regret diving into this reality. Snag it today.

Shattered is book 2 in The Glitched Series. The second book continues Alessa and Damon's adventures as Spartan Warriors. They spent all of book one finding their way back to each other, and book 2 sees them torn apart again. Throw in Cam, and you have yourself a love triangle. Alessa deals with losing Damon to Brielle, searching for her sister, and dealing with the Spartan leadership's mistrust. There are high stakes and plenty of action in this book. There aren't many twists or turns since obvious hints are dropped everywhere, but the book is fun and entertaining. We see the Spartans' home for the first time, so more of their technology and abilities are introduced. So get ready to suspend reality and enjoy the ride. This is a 5-star book!
