Dilly Court grew up in North-east London and began her career in television, writing scripts for commercials. She is married with two grown-up children and four grandchildren, and now lives in Dorset on the beautiful Jurassic Coast with her husband. She is the author of eighteen novels and also writes under the name of Lily Baxter.
Another wonderful story from Dilly Court, as always captivating her readers from the very first page. This one tells the lives of both the wealthy and the impoverished children living in terrible conditions. The two narratives intertwine beautifully.
Set in 1899, this well-written story features the reunion of old characters Flora and Daniel, who are Poppy's parents. Poppy is a likable, headstrong young woman who stands up for what's right.
As always, this book is a compelling page-turner that captivates the reader from the very first page. I didn't want the story to end—it's perfect for a chilly, dark winter evening.
Whilst with friends, Poppy helps someone, but is that person all that they seem. When her and her family is targeted by blackmailer who threaten to reveal secrets about the family, Poppy has a choice to make.
This book references characters from previous novels, in the setting of Rainbows End, which didn't detract from the main story but did mean that some of the back story was lost on me.
Full of romance, friendship, intrigue and dastardly deeds, the perfect recipe for a saga to lose yourself in.
