Robert McNeil survived in a world filled with death and very little more until... Kristen Sawyer wanted nothing more than to forget everyone and everything after the death of her daughter. The last thing she ever expected was to find the one man she'd never been able to have or forget-falling at her feet. When Robert woke up and discovered that he'd passed out from his wounds at Kristen Sawyer's home, he knew he'd found the way to hold on-and to begin again. Now, all he had to do was eliminate the men trying to keep them apart, destroy the toxic drug in his system, and somehow make her want to trust in love.
Well, let's see. I write romance -- mostly paranormal and historical, but I have a few contemporary I'm working on as well. I tend to write series, but slowly. So, if you liked Midnight Star, I have more coming out soon.
I also work on single stories, and one of those might be hitting the shelves soon as well.
I grew up here, there, and everywhere, from California, to upstate New York to just about everywhere in between. I think the moving around drove me to find my own outlets in life -- reading being one of them, and writing being another. I hope that my work is enjoyable to my readers, and some day I'd love to hear from a fan that they have my book stored all safe and secure on a shelf where they can pet it when they want. :) Or that they pull my book down on a bad day to simply escape for a bit into the worlds I spin.
Is it a requirement to have a 10" disco stick to become a Navy SEAL? If so, I'm holding myself hostage somewhere so they can rescue me.
Robert "Tazz" McNeil is in big trouble. Presumed dead by most who knew him, he's since been part of the Sentinels, a secret government group working with a drug that creates harder, better, faster, stronger soldiers. But Robert is determined to destroy the drug and its formula so that it can't be replicated, which happens to make some powerful people a bit perturbed. Double crossed, shot and losing blood fast, Robert stumbles into the home of former friend Kristen Sawyer, the one woman he's always wanted but who he'd never touch. That changes fast as Kris nurses Robert back to health while they're snowed in together.
After losing her young daughter, Kristen won't allow herself to love enough to hurt again, but Robert will do whatever it takes to romance her and show her that they could be good together. Unfortunately, Robert has some seriously bad dudes after him and it's only a matter of time before they find him. Will the two of them ever have their chance for their HEA?
TRUSTING LOVE is the 4th book in the Love's Command Series, and while you can read it as a standalone, it's best read after book 3, Catch Me If You Can, since this book plays off of the same storyline and occurs immediately upon that book's ending.
This story felt very rushed through, making it riddled with mistakes, repetitive language and nonsensical paragraphs. The writing just didn't capture my attention whatsoever, as Robert and Kristen (whose last name magically changes from Sawyer to Reynolds…cool!) were both just so so characters who I would've preferred to hear about perhaps as a secondary storyline in someone else's story (maybe Dare and Kylie's). Which is a shame since Tazz was so intriguing in earlier books. The sex was erotic but once again there was just so much of it that it became total filler, and I began skimming the scenes instead of devouring them.
One thing I just can't get into with Ms. Jean's Love's Command books is that these characters all like to have sex at the most inappropriate times...like Robert and Kristen hooking up in like 10 feet of snow whilst being chased by the bad guys. Again, I'm all for suspending reality when reading erotic romance books, but...really? That's just plain loony. Take out the poor editing and totally gratuitous sex scenes and you're left with some decent action that should be the meat of this story but winds up as background noise to the sounds of the couple doing the no pants dance.
Bottom Line: Not too much I loved about TRUSTING LOVE, but if you're a fan of the series this will be a must read. - See more at: http://www.theromancereviews.com/view...
Kristen Sawyer has hiding out in a cabin ever since her daughter died two years ago. Her drunk ex husband took their daughter and now Kristen is barely living. Robert McNeil loved Kristen from afar for years. It's just his luck that after he is wounded that he lands on her doorstep. Robert wants out of his military life. His last mission is to destroy a toxic drug that affects his ability to heal and control his rage. After that he wants a normal life. When he wakes up and sees Kristen he knows he wants that life with her. He wants to take away her pain and give her happiness. He knows it won't be easy to help her move past her grief. He feels guilty for not being there to save her daughter or help her for the past two years. He's here now though and he refuses to go anywhere. Kristen fights him at first but quickly realizes that she can't fight him for long. Her feelings for Robert have been too strong for too long. They give in to their passion but before they can really enjoy a life together they must stop the evil people who want the code for the drug in Robert's system. They want that code and they want Robert dead. This is the fourth book in the Love's Command series. Although this book is over 300 pages it moves quickly. I was able to finish it in two days. The pace is that of an action movie. There's no slow build up to their relationship. Sparks fly from the beginning. Kristen and Robert make a very sexy couple. Once they reunite they seem finally able to live in the moment and let their sad pasts rest. They bring out the best in each other. They tease and flirt with each other whenever they aren't horizontal. Prepare to blush, swoon and swear as you read this book. The bad guys are despicable and the good guys impossible not to love. While I found this a well written book I feel it couldn't really decide what it wanted to be. It had a major romance/erotic story line but also a dramatic adventure aspect. I could have used both stories more developed.
