Hailey and her sister Kathy find themselves with a lot of decisions to make when their grandmother passes away. Hailey has never settled into adulthood, working dead end jobs and full of anxiety about everything. Her sister Kathy has always known what she’s wanted, her life is on track and she’s determined to not let anything get in the way.
Hailey spends one last night alone in her grandmother’s home, hoping to find closure. What she finds is a sexy half-demon knocking on her front door, ghosts appearing out of nowhere, and some kind of monster eating her grandmother’s garden.
Vint, a half-demon, half-witch claims he’s there to protect the magic that the death of her grandmother has left behind. A wild family magic that is coveted by many, including the local coven who Hailey knows her grandmother wasn’t fond of.
But the half-demon is there for more than Hailey’s benefit and when the will reveals he could have the magic if Hailey and Kathy don’t take it, the decisions that need to be made become everybody’s business.

This is a quick read about two sisters who discover the world's a lot more than they thought it was. Witches, demons, magic all exist, and the sisters are thrown right into the deep end to sort out a crisis brought on by the death of their beloved grandmother. The stakes are high and very personal for the protagonists, and are complicated immediately by the attraction Hailey and Vint feel for each other.
I really liked the fact that even though I assumed this tale had to have with a happy ending, the stressful events still sowed seeds of doubt and kept me reading fast to find out what happened to everyone. Grail was by far my favorite character. Absolutely loved him. I'd read an entire book just about him and his adventures! And while the grandmother has passed on, she was my second favorite character, as viewed and shared by the other characters. As a big tea drinker, I loved reading about the magic teas.
I appreciated the sweet nature of the romance in this one and lack of spice, but for those who mind, there was still a fair bit of bad language.
This book was a super cute quick read. It’s not a book I normally would go for but I happened to run into the author at a book signing and wanted to support her as an author myself. The main characters had me giggling to myself quite a bit. Definitely will pick up more from this author.
First read for this author and it was a fun and quick read!
Two sisters find out they are witches and there ensues their journey of do they want their powers or not? I loved that this storyline follows a few days and wasn't drawn out. Also, f that coven!
The characters were great and even though I thought I would hate on Grail, he was probably my favorite!
