I admit that 90% of the reason I read this one is because I am still not over Manacled and I need more of Dramione. Sadly, I did not get nearly enough of them in this short story, but it was cute at least. 😊

“I have to admit,” he said, in a light, conversational tone, “I’d forgotten that your dad is terrifying. Like I knew he is literally the scariest person on the planet—but I feel like he didn’t used to act quite so much like he wanted to personally disembowel me.”


James held his hands out placatingly. “But no. Your mum gave me your address because your dad said you should get the satisfaction of killing me personally.”

Aurore tensed until she was standing rigid, and she drew a sharp, stuttering breath between her teeth. 
James exhaled heavily. “I’ve always loved you, but I’ve never known how to handle it. Being with you feels like I’m touching a supernova. You’re so bright you’re blinding. The whole world fades away when I’m with you, and it scares me more than anything else I’ve ever experienced.” He ran a hand through his hair. “I don’t know how to feel it less. There’s just you and nothing else in the world, and that freaks the fuck out of me because—because—“ he stammered and waved his hand in a vaguely eastward direction. “—your parents are nuts. The way they are and what they’re willing to do and go through for each other has always been insane to me. But—” he stared down at her, his expression raw and desperate, “when I look at you, I get it. I get all of it because I’d do anything for you.”

Horse beaten to death honestly. With "Manacled", despite all its faults, you could tell it was a passion project. This one felt like a mandatory gift for fans, uninspired and fragmentary.

I was curious about their story after reading Manacled! It was short and sweet, I loved it! 🥹

"Aurore." he said in a cautious voice. "Do you ever think about trying again? You and I? It was fun, wasn't it? When we—"
"James..." her tone was warning. Her eyes opened, and she stared at him. "It didn't work."

James exhaled heavily. "I've always loved you, but I've never known how to handle it. Being with you feels like I'm touching a supernova. You're so bright you're blinding. Summary;

James Potter and Aurora Black have been best friends since childhood.
Their mothers were close friends and are the only surviving members of the Order of the Phoenix. James is the son of Harry and Ginny, and Aurora is the daughter of Draco and Hermione.

After spending several years living in Asia, James and Ginny moved back to England. Aurora stayed with her parents and studied in New Zealand. She had always been in love with James and, after completing her studies, decided to move to England to be closer to him. They dated briefly, but James ended the relationship, saying she was too intense and that he needed space. They agreed to remain friends.

Due to his job, James often ends up in the hospital, and Aurora always visits to keep him company. As they grow older, James realizes he wants to give their romantic relationship another chance.

When he goes missing for two weeks and finally returns, he decides to confess his love, but Aurora tells him she is in a relationship. For the next eight months, they have almost no contact. James refuses to meet her new boyfriend and acts cold and distant towards her.

James ends up in the hospital again and continues to be distant, until Aurora reveals she broke up with Michael. James is relieved, but then Aurora shares that she’s moving back to New Zealand to be closer to her parents. She admits she doesn’t feel at home in England and hasn’t made any friends there.

James is devastated and doesn’t understand her decision. Aurora explains that she’s been in love with him for years, and moved to England because of him. But when James broke things off and later said he wanted to try again, she realized that their friendship meant more to her. He’s her only real friend, and she doesn’t want to lose him.

Aurora moves to New Zealand, and James follows her. He confesses his love once more, expecting nothing in return. He admits he was scared, but that he has always loved her — and always will.

Dios… esto es justo lo que necesitaba después de leer algo tan devastador como Manacled. Es una historia breve, sí, pero está tan llena de ternura y sensibilidad que se siente como un respiro emocional.

Me encantó este ship. Aurore y James tienen una dinámica que funciona de forma natural: ambos heredan historias rotas y expectativas imposibles, pero logran verse por quienes realmente son en un momento tan simple como poderoso. La conexión que se construye entre ellos es sutil pero significativa, llena de gestos pequeños que dicen muchísimo.

Ojalá Senlinyu se anime a escribir algo más largo con estos personajes. Hay tanto potencial en lo que apenas se insinúa aquí. La historia deja una sensación cálida, melancólica, pero también esperanzadora.

Si vienes de leer Manacled, este one-shot es el cierre perfecto para reencontrarte con ese universo desde una mirada más luminosa y reparadora.
