MAX

There’s this moment in life when you discover the reason for your pitiful existence. When all the demons lurking in your mind quiet down, tamed and dominated by a light so bright it pierces the dark like a beam of salvation.

My moment was three years ago, and again every single time I see her.

Alison Battaglia – my capo’s little sister and the soon-to-be wife of California’s Mafia Don.

She looks at me as if I’m her saving grace, her knight in shining armor.

If only she knew I am just the opposite. A trojan horse disguised by fine suits and deception.

But my mask is starting to slip. She is tearing my walls, brick by brick, coming closer to my truths.

She craves them as much as I crave her.

Will she hate me when she finds out the monster I am? “...falser than vows made in wine.”

She will.

I do.

Angel of Light is the second book in a duet , written in dual POV with open door steamy scenes. The completed duet can be read as an interconnected stand-alone romance novel that ends with a guaranteed HEA.

For the complete experience please be sure to read the first book of the duet Angel of Darkness.

This is the fifth book in the Lords Of The Commission – New York series and it’s a lighter shade of Mafia romance, featuring arranged marriage and friends to enemies to forbidden lovers tropes amongst others. There are dark subjects throughout, but it can’t be considered an overly dark story. Content warnings do still apply.

Angel of Light by Stephanie Amaral

Format: Audiobook
Narrators: Andi Eloise and Sean Masters

Non-Spoiler Review:
Alison and Max are back with the conclusion of their duet and dark fairytale. Once again, Andi and Sean were amazing bringing these sassy and broody characters to life.

I loved how Alison matured and grew into her name and place in the family. She was still bratty at times, which can be expected as a mafia princess, but she had major character growth. The way she found solutions to certain problems was absolute boss-lady vibes.

Angel of Light is the conclusion we all needed and exactly what Alison and Max deserved. This book was funny, entertaining, spicy, and had an emotional aspect the first one didn’t. I adored the banter, charm and even the broody and jealous outbursts from Max. I enjoyed every minute of their journey. We may have gotten the ending to Alison and Max’s love story, but of course there’s more as we’re once again left on a cliffhanger. I cannot wait to dive into the next book.

Thank you, Blue Nose, for the ALC.

The next book in the series, the conclusion of the duet and what a conclusion!

Having read and loved the other books in the series there is no way I could not read this book. As Stephanie fans know she loves to leave us on a destroying cliffhanger, so we have a NEED to know what happens in the next book!

I feel this book is more than just a romance book, yes the story is about a couple and their difficult journey to try and find a way to be together. But it is also a story full of intrigue, there are shocking discoveries about family members, there are definitely Who did it moments and some of these had me on the edge of my seat and even jumping up in surprise and there is humor in it as well.
Stephanie has weaved a world with interesting characters and a back stories, and you cannot help but love or dislike (dare I even say hate) them. Sometimes they end up on the wrong list and then when she reveals their true intentions you feel gutted about your initial feelings towards them.

We revisit the story of Max and Alison, they story started in Angel of Darkness. Their love is forbidden, but the attraction is strong. The tension between them just jumps of the pages that combined with the mafia element and the danger of that is just a perfect mix.

Max is dark and broody and moody, he has secrets and a need to protect her at all costs, he is also a total asshole at some points and that really made me want to punch him in the face a few times.

Alison really comes in to her own in this book, in the first book she was already sassy and smart, but she is now revealing a side to her that no one has ever seen. I love her progression and the power she gives to herself.

***Spoiler***
Fair warning: This is a Stephanie book so it does end on a cliffhanger, and even though I was fully expecting it I was still angry! (I really do love you Stephanie but COME ON!)

This is everything I wanted & more a dark, emotional & unforgettable mafia romance that completely consumed me. This bodyguard romance had me hooked from the very first chapter it kept me on the edge of my seat until the very last word.
Max is the kind of hero that stays with you damaged, dangerous, protective, and completely undone by the woman he can never truly have. His love for Alison is intense, heartbreaking & impossible not to feel. Watching him fight his demons while trying to protect the one person who brings light into his darkness was absolutely devastating in the best way.
Alison is strong, passionate & far more than just a mafia princess. Even with missing pieces of her memory, the connection between her and Max burns just as fiercely. Their chemistry is electric, emotional & filled with so much tension that I felt it in every chapter.
The forbidden love, the secrets, the betrayal & the constant push and pull between duty & desire made this story impossible to put down. Stephanie Amaral writes with so much emotion that I felt every heartbreak, every stolen moment, and every painful truth right alongside the characters.
This duet absolutely must be read in order, and Angel of Darkness sets the stage perfectly for this explosive conclusion. Angel of Light delivers everything-passion, angst, suspense, & a deeply satisfying HEA that felt earned after all the pain.
Dark, addictive & beautifully written this was a perfect 5-star read for me & Max and Alison's story will stay with me for a long time..

This is one emotional rollercoaster of a finale. Stephanie pulled no punches in the conclusion to Alison and Max’s duet, and honestly? My Kindle is still trying to work through the emotional damage sustained.

In the first book, we watched Alison and Max—well, mostly Max—keep each other at arm’s length. Alison was bound by family duty, walking into a marriage with another man, while Max pushed her away to protect her from his demons. But in this book? That wall comes crashing down—starting with the cliffhanger at the end of the first book that flipped everything on its head.

The emotional vulnerability in this story was stunning. Max’s devotion to Alison is front and center, raw and unapologetic. He will do anything to free her, to fight for her. And while Alison tries to shield her heart after being burned before, there’s no denying that Max has awakened something in her that she can’t ignore. Their chemistry? Off. The. Charts. Some scenes had me reaching for a cold shower, no lie.

There are twists, turns, and so many moments that had me on edge—I got the book yesterday and literally could not put it down.

I’m being intentionally vague here, because I don’t want to spoil a single thing from book one or two. Trust me, this is a journey best experienced with no spoilers.

Alison and Max’s story wasn’t easy, but they fought tooth and nail for their HEA. While it’s bittersweet to say goodbye to them, I know we haven’t seen the last of them. Stephanie has already teased what’s coming next in the series and I am losing it.

This duet—and the series as a whole—is all about love and loyalty. Whether it’s blood family or found family, these FMCs and MMCs will go to war for the ones they love. And I’ll be right there with them, ready for the next book.

Yes! The way I squeeled when this was delivered to my mailbox! Since Angel of Darkness ends with a huge cliffhanger, I was really looking forward to the next book. Eagerly I dove right in, because these characters better get their happy ending!

I loved Max and Alison, there is so much fire and emotion between them! Their forbidden romance is such a rollercoaster, and Stephanie sure made me feel all kinds of things again. From laughing out loud to ugly crying, and from screaming and wanting to yeet my kindle to happy tears.

If a story can make me feel this much, the writing is simply amazing. Because I got sucked right in and was on the edge of my seat the entire time. The story has a fast pace and is action-packed. Ofcourse the spice is spicing too! 🥵

Max and Alison get their happy ending, though there is still a cliffhanger leading up to the Russian Monarch. And I cannot wait for it! I just know I will love it as much as the rest of the series!

This is a mafia, dark romance. (Check those triggers) Forbidden love, arranged marriage, beyond possessive feral MMC, and an absolute queen of an FMC.

Picking up straight after Angel of Darkness, which left us on a huge cliffhanger. (if you haven't read that yet, make sure you read it before this book as it's a duet)

As with every other book in this series, it had me in a chokehold. The way I dropped absolutely everything when this arc hit my inbox! 🖤
I don't think I've ever annotated a book as much as I did this one! Just perfection 👌🏼

So much tension, secrets and spicy scenes!

Thank you to the author for allowing me an advanced copy of this.

one door closes, another one opens.

Oh my goodness!! 😭🥹🥰❤️ what an INSANE ride Max & Allison have been on!! I don’t think I have gone through so many emotions, multiple times, in a single book. Such a deep felt, guttural emotions, from them both. So well described and felt everything the characters were going through. I can’t say much more without spoiling it, but so beautiful!!

“You think I’m giving up my happiness? Baby, my happiness isn’t tied to a city or a job or even my own life. It’s tied to you. It’s your laugh when you think no one’s watching. It’s they way you scrunch your nose when you’re concentrating. It’s the way you make me feel like I’m worth something more than an oath.”

How did I not know that this book had been released?
I was slumping so bad before I started reading this, Looks like I can always trust a mafia book to pull me right out of it!

The first book in this duology was my favourite so far, but my gosh this was even better! The action, the sass, those smutty scenes.

How I loved both Max and Alison, Max and his broken soul and Alison’s strength and fierceness! I had been rooting for them from there first scenes in the previous books and I was elated!

I honestly don’t think that this book can be topped. But the way it ended I am looking forward to the next book in the series and to learn more about Adrianne. Roll on January!

The BEST for nearly last

Another five star read for Mrs. Stephanie Amaral and her amazing talent of bringing Mafia romance to light and wishing we all had a Max to obsess over us. A dog d of applause for the brilliant feminism and Bad Bish attitude she gives Alison! I always love a good Mafioso/body guard romance and the spice is *chefs kiss*! Can't wait to see what's up next in the Lords of Commission!

Ahhh where do I begin. I’m a huge SA fan. I absolutely loved the first 3 books in this series. Francesca and Matt will always be my favorites.

I really wanted to love this book. My issue with it is that it was soooooo drawn out. It could have been 1 book. I tend to stay away from duets when the second part isn’t out yet because I loose interest.

-Also the secret love child of the dad was not it for me either. It was unnecessary for the plot.

Overall if you connect with Allison and Max you will like this duet.

Thank you to SA for the ARC

ARC REVIEW - Angel of Light (Lords of Commission - New York Series) @Author Stephanie Amaral

I devoured this book in one sitting. Picking up from the cliffhanger of Angel of Darkness we continue with the push pull between Max and Alison and I loved every single minute of it.

The writing is incredible and the angst and heartbreak is sublime. This book will be one of my top 5 reads of 2025 and I cannot recommend enough that you should read the whole series it doesn't

This one just hurt, those poor characters! Unfortunately, it didn’t fully pull me in. It could have gone much deeper emotionally. And the ending? It almost felt like the story was stretched out more than necessary.

🖤🔥 A forbidden love, unraveling secrets, and a truth that cuts deeper than loyalty 🔥🖤

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐☆ (4/5)
Spice-meter: 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️☆ (4/5)
Audiobook: 🎧 Duet
Series: Lords of The Commission – New York, Book 5 (interconnected standalone, but must read Book 4 first)
HEA: No, cliffhanger

Angel of Light picks up exactly where Angel of Darkness left us hanging, and it wastes zero time throwing you straight back into the chaos. The pacing is relentless in the best way, balancing high-stakes tension with emotional depth that hits harder this time around. Where book one set the stage, this one kicks the door in and demands your full attention.

This is the second part of the duet, and it absolutely delivers as a continuation but don’t be fooled, you need book one for this to land properly. The payoff only works because of everything that came before, and thankfully, it does pay off… just not without putting you through the wringer first.

The Story

Max and Alison’s story intensifies in every possible way. The tension, the secrets, the emotional conflict it all escalates. Max is still very much the morally gray, broody man drowning in his own guilt and loyalty, while Alison starts to truly come into her own.

And honestly? That character growth was one of the strongest elements here.

Alison evolves from a somewhat impulsive mafia princess into someone who actually claims her place. She’s still bratty at times, let’s be real, that doesn’t magically disappear, but now there’s purpose behind her actions. The way she starts taking control and finding solutions gave serious boss energy, and it made her arc feel earned.

The relationship dynamic remains addictive. There’s longing, frustration, and just enough emotional damage to keep things interesting. Their chemistry is undeniable, but it’s the internal conflict (especially from Max) that keeps the story gripping.

🎧 Narration

Andi Eloise and Sean Masters return and once again, they absolutely deliver. This isn’t just narration, it’s performance.

Andi Eloise captures Alison’s emotional journey beautifully. You feel her confusion, her strength, her vulnerability it’s all there, layered and raw. She brings a depth to Alison that makes her growth even more impactful.

Sean Masters as Max? Painfully good. His voice carries every ounce of restraint, guilt, and suppressed emotion. You can hear the internal war, and it adds so much weight to his character.

Together, they elevate the entire experience. The tension feels tighter, the emotions hit harder, and the chemistry becomes almost tangible. This audiobook doesn’t just complement the story, it enhances it.

What I Loved

✔️ Strong character growth, especially for Alison
✔️ Intense emotional depth compared to book one
✔️ Addictive push-and-pull dynamic
✔️ High-stakes mafia tension without feeling overdone
✔️ Banter, jealousy, and those sharp, charged interactions
✔️ Duet narration that genuinely elevates the story

Tropes & Vibes

✔️ Mafia Romance
✔️ Forbidden Love
✔️ Friends to Enemies to Lovers
✔️ Arranged Marriage
✔️ Morally Gray MMC
✔️ Protective / Jealous Hero
✔️ Emotional Angst
✔️ Dual POV
✔️ Found Family

Final Thoughts

Angel of Light delivers exactly what you want from a duet conclusion more intensity, more emotion, and higher stakes. It builds on everything Angel of Darkness started and deepens both the romance and the characters in a satisfying way.

Alison shines here, Max suffers (as he should), and together they create a story that’s messy, passionate, and impossible to look away from.

But let’s not pretend Stephanie Amaral plays nice… because she doesn’t. Just when you think you can breathe, she pulls the rug out from under you again.

Yes, another cliffhanger. Cruel? Absolutely. Effective? Also yes.

If you’re here for the angst, the tension, and characters who fight just as hard as they love, this duet is worth every second. Just be prepared to immediately need the next book whether you like it or not.

Book 5 in The lords of commission series and the second part of the duet and conclusion to Angel of Darkness. I went into this thinking I was prepared because it’s a continuation of book four… I was not prepared! Not emotionally and not mentally… not even slightly. This book doesn’t ease you in.. it grabs you and just keeps squeezing. We pick up right in the aftermath and it’s immediate chaos.. so explosions, fear, desperation and a constant suffocating tension of knowing everything is about to get worse before it ever gets better.. and just wading through it!

As before at the centre of it all is Max… who is one of the most unwell (but affectionate) men I’ve ever read. This man would ruin himself to save his girl. He is drowning in guilt, convinced he’s the villain, while simultaneously being the only one willing to burn the world down to keep Alison breathing. The internal conflict is brutal. His devotion is unhinged or waiving.

And Alison… oh my gosh. There’s something almost painful about the way she feels Max before she fully remembers him, like her soul recognises him even when her mind doesn’t. She’s soft but she’s not weak and the way she leans into that instinct instead of running from it? I loved her about her.

The dynamic between them is just… intense in a way that’s hard to explain without sounding slightly unhinged myself. Every interaction feels loaded. Half the time I felt like I was holding my breath waiting for it to all go wrong. And the tension from the outside threats only makes everything worse. There’s this constant sense that danger is closing in from every direction and no matter what they do, it’s never really going to be enough to keep her safe. It keeps you on edge the entire time, like you’re just waiting for the next hit.
That said in a few chapters I was rolling clutching my sides.. some of the banter or Max’s inner thoughts!

And I have to talk about the audiobook because I listened to this as audio and WOW it didn’t let the story down. The narrators didn’t just read this… again they performed it. Max’s voice carried every ounce of his guilt, restraint and barely controlled emotion and Alison’s confusion and vulnerability felt so real it actually hurt to listen to at times. It genuinely added another layer to the story that made everything hit harder. I was completely pulled in, Andi Eloise and Sean Masters just work so well!

By the end of this duet, I wasn’t okay. Like at all! This book is messy, emotional, intense and completely addictive in the worst but best way. It’s the kind of story where love isn’t soft or easy, no, it’s all consuming, destructive and impossible to walk away from, no matter how much it hurts… I just had to know!

At the end we get the promised HEA by Stephanie Amaral but need therapy to work through it. I need the next book immediately... because the story is still on going!

Angel of Light is the second part of the Beyond Redemption Duet by Stephanie Amaral. This was everything that I wanted and so much more!

The anticipation after Angel of Darkness was palpable. I devoured this audiobook quickly and loved every single part! If you loved the physical book you be completely blown away with this masterpiece of audio work by these incredible voice actors. They convey their characters with graceful clarity and emotional energy and depth! And their chemistry truly shines through and brings this audio experience to life.

Brilliant voice work from Sean Masters and Andi Eloise… absolutely phenomenal performances with the emotional and character development as well as the incredible portrayal of each and every additional character. Pure perfection!

We have a fantastic narrative coming from Angel of Darkness and it just continues to evolve as we are propelled further into this immersive world. It is full of sizzling spice, fun and exciting banter, deeply emotional moments and fantastic character development.

I loved our sassy mafia princess and the electric dynamic between Alison and Max. It is what we were hoping for!
Max, is such an incredible character, I love is dark brooding energy and his deeply protective nature! These two were meant for each other…

A beautiful and emotional rollercoaster ride from beginning to end and I can’t wait to see what happens with the conclusion of this amazing duet.

A must for all Mafia Romance fans!

Angel of Light is the second installment of a duet (following Angel of Darkness) in Stephanie Amaral’s Lords of the Commission – New York series. From first line to final page, the emotional stakes skyrocket as Max and Alison’s forbidden love becomes an inferno of heartbreak and hope .

Max is a fiercely conflicted protector—haunted by guilt, deception, and deep self-loathing. Alison, the capo’s sister and mafia princess, is the light that wounds him, the reason he questions everything he’s built to believe about himself. Their vulnerability is baring souls, not just skin.

Every moment between them is charged—not just with desire—but with raw emotional turbulence. Joy and ecstasy collide with desperation and fear. It’s love that trembles on a knife’s edge, believing each touch could heal—or destroy.

There are incredible moments in this book, that will find you crying, gasping and wanting the main characters to find peace. Max’s internal battles are so poignant. His inability to fully lean into his feelings—led to gut‑wrenching pain for both him and Alison. The frustration, the longing, the miscommunication—it all felt achingly real.

In the rare tender moments, you feel them truly connecting, undercut by the knowledge those moments may slip away forever. Alison’s gradual unraveling of Max’s mask brick by brick, and his fear of being exposed as the monster he believes himself to be is emotional devastation and hope entwined.

While this romance unfolds within organized crime, it leans into a lighter shade of mafia genre—dark themes are present, but balanced by moments of emotional solace and the promise of a happy ending .
Presented in dual POV, open‑door steamy scenes, Angel of Light delivers not just the romance and steam but a soul‑shattering transformation that redeems and rebuilds.

Expect to cry. Expect to swoon. Expect to feel the full weight of their love—and their losses. Angel of Light doesn’t just deliver heat—it delivers heartbreak, redemption, and redemption earned.
I received a free ARC of this book, and this review is only my opinion

Honestly buckle up for a rollercoaster of emotions because this is the conclusion to Alison and Max’s duet and Stephanie pulled out all the stops👏🏼

Stephanie wasn’t lying when she said this book would bring me to tears at certain points because my kindle was covered in them. In the first half of the duet we see Alison and Max (more so Max) trying to keep each other at arms length. Alison decides to marry another man for the duty of her family and Max keeps her away to keep her safe from his demons but in this book that is thrown out the window and that turning point was most certainly the cliffhanger of the last book.

The vulnerability of these characters with one another was absolutely beautiful. Max’s devotion was completely laid bare when it came to Alison and he did absolutely everything possible to get her free of the marriage agreement. Of course Alison wanted to protect her heart since Max was so hot and cold previously, but she awoke the beast in him and there was no holding back now. Their chemistry was off the charts and those spicy moments - well a cold shower was needed🤭

This book most certainly had quite a few twists and turns and kept me on my toes. I mean I only got the book yesterday and I literally couldn’t put it down😂

I am being quite vague in terms of what I am writing here but there’s a reason for that as I do not want to give away any plot points in book one or two and ruin the overall reading experience.

Alison and Max’s journey most certainly wasn’t an easy one but they fought for their HEA. While it is so bittersweet to be saying goodbye to them both, it’s not so much goodbye and I know they will pop up again in other books. And that is another thing because the author has also set up the next book in the series and I am freaking out ✨

This duet and this series in general is about love and loyalty, whether that it is the family bond or the bond with the significant other- these FMCs and MMCs will do absolutely anything for one another.

Thank you so much to the author who provided this e-arc for my honest thoughts 💭

Wow wow wow! Finally finished the Angel of Darkness and Angel of Light duet and I am recovering!

Angel of Light picks up exactly where Angel of Darkness left off so if you haven’t read that book, you must do that first. We pick up right after the bombing of AD and Alison is recovering in the hospital with amnesia of the past 2 months. Usually I hate the amnesia trope but because it’s only 2 months of Alison’s memories, it didn’t both me at all. If anything, the amnesia moved the story along because it made Max realize he couldn’t take Alison and his love for granted.

So many of the questions I had during Angel of Darkness and answered in this book! Why Max was so harsh towards Alison these past years, his hatred for her fiancé, how Jackson and the Yakuza relate to everything, and who Alison’s half sister is! There were so many different side stories that got wrapped up nicely with a bow.

After book 1, I can’t lie, I was team Vincenzo. He just seemed so kind and understanding, and unlike Max, he wasn’t afraid of speaking his feelings. Of course, we start to learn at the end of book one and all of book two more about Vincenzo but I still loved his character. You learn a lot more about his backstory and what motivates him in this book, and I’m still proudly team Vincenzo. Love me an anti hero!

One of the biggest annoyances I had with Max in Angel of Darkness, was what a coward he was when it came to his feelings. Without giving anything away, we finally learn his motivation behind this behavior in this book, and Alison learns it too, for worse and for better.

I have loved every page of Alison and Max’s epic love story and readers will be happy to get the ending we’ve all been waiting for.

But of course, everything couldn’t be wrapped up perfectly because we’re left on a MAJOR cliffhanger and let’s just say… I am DYING for the next book! It’ll follow a new duo

Angel of Light is a breathtaking continuation in Stephanie Amaral’s powerful series . Once again, she delivers a story packed with drama, angst, passion, betrayal, and love. This book had all the feels, and I was completely hooked from start to finish.

Picking up right where Angel of Darkness left us hanging on that intense cliffhanger, the plot doesn't slow down for a second. It's enough to keep you on edge, but detailed enough to immerse you in every twist and emotional turn. I devoured it in just two days and could not put it down.

This installment continues with Max and Alison. While Max is as magnetic as ever, it was Alison who truly stole the show for me. She represents fierce strength and unwavering loyalty. She is a woman who will do whatever it takes to protect her family. Watching her transformation from the “precious princess” everyone felt the need to shield, into a powerful Queen who reclaims her identity, was absolutely empowering. She’s a total badass, and I loved every second of her journey.

One scene in particular stopped me in my tracks, the moment Alison discovers a haunting canvas titled “Un Fottuto Angelo.” The imagery was devastating and beautiful: a broken angel on the floor, clutching a bleeding heart split in two, wings torn and scattered like snow stained in blood. That painting wasn’t just art - it was her truth, her pain, and her love for Max brought to life. It resonated with me so deeply, I now feel inspired to recreate this painting myself.

Stephanie Amaral has once again crafted a vivid, passionate story that doesn’t just entertain - it leaves a mark. If you're a fan of mafia-style romance with depth, spice, and powerful female leads, Angel of Light is a must-read.

Everything I wanted, and more!

Angel of Light- Lords of the Commission part 5 by Stephanie Amaral

⭐️: 5 🌶️: 4

✨Mafia ✨He’s her bodyguard ✨Gůn Play ✨Dual POV

Alison and Max’s story continues after a crippling cliffhanger. Alison is such and incredible FMC. She is a complete badåss and is so committed to finding a way out of the mess they found themselves in. Her determination and the fact that she never gives up makes you love her even more.

Max is… Max- and you I know you know exactly what I mean by that. I KNOW he was always coming from a place of love and with Alison’s safety as his top priority but I swear I don’t even know how someone can have that many secrets. I knew Stephanie would give us a hard earned HEA but for a bit I was still concerned Alison wasn’t going to be able to forgive him.

With more twists and turns than a backwoods mountain road, Angel of Light is going to suck you in and have you in a freaking chokehold. And remember who your author is here- you’re gonna cry so have tissues ready. Stephanie broke me a part a couple times before she put me back together. I can’t recommend this enough and five stars isn’t even sufficient.

Oh by the way, how freaking happy are we that Adrianne gets her story next?! Remember that Angel of Light is the conclusion of a duet AND book five in the Lords of The Commission series so you really need to start at the beginning.

⭐️ Book & Narrator Review: Angel of Light ⭐️

Narrated by Andi Eloise & Sean Masters

If you love your romance wrapped in danger, obsession, and emotional chaos, Angel of Light absolutely delivers as a gripping, explosive finale to the duet—and the narration takes it to another level.

Max is the kind of morally gray hero that hurts so good to listen to. Sean Masters brings that deep, tortured intensity to life perfectly—you can feel the conflict, the darkness, and the obsession in every word. He makes Max’s internal battle hit even harder.

Alison is all heart, fire, and vulnerability, and Andi Eloise captures that beautifully. Her performance adds emotional depth, especially with Alison’s memory loss and the way she’s drawn to Max despite everything. You feel her strength and her softness.

And together Their chemistry is 🔥
The tension, the longing, the forbidden pull—it all comes through so vividly in the dual POV narration.

🔥 What stood out:

* Emotionally charged performances that elevate the story
* Sean Masters’ raw, brooding delivery = PERFECT Max energy
* Andi Eloise’s emotional range brings Alison to life
* Intense chemistry you can literally hear
* High angst, high stakes, and a payoff that feels earned

This is a lighter mafia romance, but the narration makes every moment feel intense, immersive, and unforgettable.

💭 Overall:
If you’re into forbidden love, morally gray heroes, and narrators who fully embody their characters, this audiobook is a must. Andi Eloise and Sean Masters don’t just tell the story—they make you feel every second of it.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5 / 5

**important need to read Angel of Darkness as it is the 1st book in the duet***

I was so excited to get the Arc for this book I have patiently been waiting to see what would happen with Max and Alison after the huge cliffhanger from Angel of Darkness. Angel of Light did not disappoint it. It had everything to finish out Max and Alisons story, from the plot to the build-up, and the spicy 🌶 scenes were chef's kisses 💋. When Alison woke up and had no memories, and then seeing the broken angel painting brought all the memories crashing back of Max and the last three years had me ugly crying, Then, the way Max finally started giving in to his desire for Alison was hot, and to find out his real name is Gabriel 🤯. The way Max is determined to get her out of her arranged marriage to Vincenzo, and he fights to the very end to free her from it even going and finding the one person to stop Vincenzo from marry his woman just to be told no broke my heart for him. Then chapter 37 was everything the way he worshipped her and had her walk down the hallway in her wedding dress. By far I loved this chapter. Im so glad they got their HEA. Stephanie definitely knows how to write a book. She has a way with her words, she had me in all of my feelings from laughing to crying. Overall it was above a 5 star read!!! I cant wait for the book In the lord's of commission series The Russian Monarch and to hear Adrianne story

This is book 5 in the Lords of The Commission series and the continuation of Max and Alison’s duet and I was locked tf innnn!

This is a dark mafia romance with forbidden love, bodyguard & mafia princess vibes, forced proximity and so much angst 😩👏🏽. THE YEARNING. After everything building in the previous book, the tension in this one was just perfect!!!! These two!!! The constant struggle between duty & desire and loyalty & love was EVERYTHING.

The FMC really was really struggling with her personal feelings vs. her duty to her family in this one. The MMC’s control kept unraveling and I loved to see it! The emotional depth in this one really stood out for me and I found myself more and more invested in the characters as individuals, not just as a couple. The stakes felt higher, the connection felt deeper and every moment between them carried so much weight. Feeling how much they wanted one another yet not being able to have one another outside of stolen moments was just torture!!

UMM the spice?? Whew 🥵 They were explosive and so perfect for one another. Max is swoony AF!

Andi Eloise and Sean Masters narrated and 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 hands down the perfect Alison and Max! They brought such beautiful emotion to these characters.

If you love forbidden romance, mafia, a MMC who would blow up his world to be with his woman, a FMC who has sass, heart and brains and a couple that makes you feel everything…this one is for you!

"Some demons are disguised as angels..."
That line alone sets the tone for this dark, delicious, and utterly addictive second installment of the duet. If you thought Angel of Darkness was intense — buckle up, because Angel of Light grabs your heart, shreds it, and somehow glues it back together with tension, heat, and heartbreak.

Max is the broken anti-hero we all love — dangerous, loyal, tortured — and Alison is the perfect contrast: light to his dark, strength wrapped in vulnerability. Their chemistry crackles on the page, and the emotional stakes are impossibly high.

This book delivers:

🔥 Forbidden love that burns with slow-burn intensity

🖤 Mafia politics, secrets, and betrayals

🛡 A bodyguard torn between duty and desire

💍 A wedding countdown that feels like a ticking bomb

💔 Angst, passion, and that addictive edge-of-your-seat suspense

Even though it's full of danger and deception, Angel of Light is deeply emotional — and Max’s inner struggle might just destroy you. The pacing is tight, the writing is sharp, and the tension never lets up.

Final Thoughts:
This isn’t just a romance — it’s a story about identity, redemption, and the thin line between love and obsession. You must read Angel of Darkness first to fully appreciate the gravity of what’s at stake here. But once you're in? You won’t be able to stop.

Oh, Hallelujah! What a wonderful HEA for Allison and Max! All the secrets are out, and Max’s love and devotion can finally be out in the open. After all the Mafia intrigue, of course. (P.S. I’ve never hated a character the way I hated Don Massimo.) I have loved every book in this series but the lyricism of Ms. Amaral’s writing was top tier in this book. Max’s devotion was next level and the desperation toward the end of the book…I was not ok! Chapters 26 and 27 contain the most romantic, love-swooning confessions I’ve ever read. Don’t worry, Ms. Amaral made it all beautifully ok. Allison becomes the Queen she was always meant to be in this book and as Max says, “hell hath no fury like a man obsessed with a Queen.” I not only enjoyed the audio production of this book performed in duet style by Andi Eloise and Sean Masters – I ADORED it. I gush over Andi Eloise in every review of her I ever write but she brings her A game to every performance and this one is no different. In my review for “Angel of Darkness”, I noted that the performance might be one of Sean Masters’ best. I was wrong. THIS performance was legendary. When he says the line “She’s life and death and every breath in between”, you’ll feel it in your soul. 5 stars for everything – the read, the performances and the spice!

Angel of Light is part 2 of a duet for Alison and Max within the Lords of the Commission series. You must read Angel of Darkness first.

Duet Narration by Andi Eloise and Sean Masters

This book picked right up from where book 1 left us on a major cliffhanger. This was another emotionally charged and action-packed storyline. Such a roller-coaster ride of emotions and story! So many playing parts with not only Alison and Max, but also other key characters within the mafia world. This is more of a mafia light book, but it still has some dark themes throughout the storyline. I really adored Alison. She had her moments of being in her feelings, but she was fierce and a fighter who stood up to others when needed and was a true mafia queen. Lots of twists along the way and a web of characters that crossover with relationships with the cast of characters. This was a very entertaining listen and one I would recommend. I hope to do a relisten as I'm sure I missed a few things with my first listen.

Narrators Andi Eloise and Sean Masters nailed their performances of these characters. They truly were a perfect pairing to bring Alison and Max's story to life. I felt like I was living the story, and they portrayed each emotion beautifully. From the gruffness to gentleness, they were on point every time and made this a joy to listen to.

Book hangover much? Why yes, don't mind if I do.

WHY IS IT OVER? 😭 I cried, I laughed, I was frustrated, I was nostalgic, I was angry, I was turned on, all at the same damn time.

Buckle up, buttercup, because this book has P-L-O-T and it will send you on a roller coaster of emotions. Steph wasnt kidding when she said this would be the ride of my life and I dove right into AoL after the cliffhanger from AoD had me screaming and edging on my seat!

How does she come up with these brilliant, complicated, twisted, earth-shattering, brain-altering, heart-squeazing plots I will never understand, but I wish she never stops.

Max and Alison are absolutely everything I have ever wanted. She reminds me so much of myself 10 years ago and Max...let's just say I lost my Max and this duet haunts my every dream and waking thought.

And Vincenzo? Just read his POV, listen to his story and then you will understand him. He left me speechless, questioning some things. In the end, I am glad I was right.

The toxic love we all crave, the secrets, the tension, the hidden identity, the games, the angst, the grovelling, the SPICE? Hello, miss ma'am! Excuse me while I cry single into a pillow! Infinite galaxies of stars for Angel of Light.
