I was taken between the main course and dessert at my sister’s wedding.
Kidnapped.
They call me by her name. Call me princess. But I’m nobody’s princess. I’m just the forgotten daughter who didn’t even know she had a family until three weeks ago.
My captor is all sharp edges and winter eyes. Nikolai Volkov looks at me like I’m a means to an end, a pawn in whatever game he’s playing with his father.
He’s brutal.
Cold.
Deadly.
So why do I feel safer with him than I did in that marble prison he rescued me from?
Nikolai
She was supposed to be Alison Battaglia. The perfect leverage against the Italian Mafia. My ticket to freedom from Vladimir Volkov’s iron grip.
Instead, I got Adrianne.
The wrong sister. The nobody. The one who looks at me with those brown eyes and sees past the monster to something I’m not sure exists anymore.
She should hate me.
I kidnapped her.
Delivered her to my father like a lamb to slaughter. But when I saw her on her knees, collared like an animal, something inside me snapped.
Now I’m breaking every rule I’ve ever lived by. Because Adrianne Dornier might have been the wrong target, but she’s becoming the only right thing in my world of wrongs.
The problem with saving someone from a monster? Sometimes you become one yourself.
The Russian Monarch is a full-length, interconnected stand-alone romance novel with open door steamy scenes and a guaranteed HEA, written in dual POV.
This is the sixth book in the Lords Of The Commission – New York series and it’s a little darker than the previous books, featuring a Beauty and the Beast vibe with one bed, forced proximity and age gap tropes amongst others. There are dark subjects throughout, but it can’t be considered an overly dark story. Content warnings do still apply.
Hi. I'm Stephanie, big dreamer and self-confessed accidental writer. This corner of the internet is where my big dreams and my “accident” meet. Welcome! What started as a way to push my boundaries and keep myself busy, turned into something I never expected when I clicked on a button with the word “publish”. Fast-forward a year and I have three books to my name: Beyond Temptation, Beyond Deception and Beyond Redemption. The Beyond Series.

There is a decent amount of action in the beginning and towards the end.
I liked how Nikolai was in constant fight with his feelings. He has some dark elements for sure but I liked him. Adrianne, I’m not sure, I couldn’t understand some of her actions and I couldn’t connect with her. I would have liked to learn more things about her past, I felt as if something was missing.
Their relationship was slower in the beginning, which I thought was nice since it allowed them to see glimpses of each other and start feeling things, but then it became too serious too fast.
In a nutshell, it’s a book I enjoyed and hopefully I’ll get to read the previous ones in the series.
-Dual 1st person POV -Spice: 🌶️🌶️🌶️
Overall: 4/5 ⭐️ for me.
I received an Adv. Readers version of this book and I have given this honest and voluntary review.
Disclaimer- this was an ARC but I am not being paid in any way for this review.
It’s part of the Lords of Commission series and it was glorious. The book focuses on Adrianne who is the half sister of the Battaglia family. She’s kidnapped from her sister’s wedding because they think she’s her sister. Nikolai kidnaps her for his father chasing his own ghosts from his past but forma an attachment with Adrianne so he doesn’t let her stay with his father for long.
It’s a story of love, overcoming grief and loss from the past and trying to move forward. It’s beautifully written and has all the right elements of a mafia romance, including pet names and overcoming family drama.
There is a few twists and back stabbings which really make it interesting and the spice is great 😊
Overall, it was an intense story and I read it in one sitting. I loved every minute. Spice was great and went with the story so not out of no where. Lots of jealousy and tension. Overall I Loved It! 😊
And just like that we have reached the final book of the Lords of Commission series and let’s just say Stephanie finished off the series strong🥹
If you have been keeping up to date with the series thus far you will know how Adrianne and Nikolai’s story begins and that is Adrianne goes missing and is presumed take during her half sister Alison’s wedding. Adrianne is only recently after reconnecting with her half siblings and the last thing she expected was to be taken by a rival family, but there’s a snag, she’s not the person they set out it take - it was actually supposed to be her sister Alison oops😅
Of course as soon as Nikolai realises he must adapt his plan. Reluctantly under his father’s instructions Nikolai must bring her to him and upon doing so he will be told his mother and sister final resting places. From the moment that Adrianne is in Nikolai’s hands his cold heart starts to thaw- he’s quite shocked with the empathy that Adrianne shows toward him and she does in fact save him in one occurrence. This is when he realises that he cannot deliver her to his father and this opens up quite a bit of a can of worms. Now Nikolai has Adrianne’s brothers and his father looking for him.
The emotions were definitely an all time high in this book and sometimes Nikolai couldn’t contain his emotions and reactions where Adrianne was concerned and yes I did want to jump between the pages and tell him to get his act together but it most certainly worked out in the end. These characters had an undeniable chemistry from the get go and the tension/ back and forth between these two were just impeccable.
Adrianne is definitely a feisty and fierce FMC and she does not back down when it comes to Nikolai which is definitely something I loved about her especially since this world was so new to her. Nikolai initially came off as cold because at the end of the day nothing mattered except his family but he soon came to realise that Adrianne was now a loved one that he must protect and he was willing to do anything to protect her that’s for sure.
This was a great book to finish off the series and while I’m sad that it is ending I most certainly enjoyed each couples journey from start to finish. I do hope we may get an epilogue book about these couples or possibly a second generation 🤭
Thank you to the author who provided this e-arc for my honest thoughts 💭
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Review — THE RUSSIAN MONARCH (Lords of the Commission #6)
Wrong sister. Wrong target. Right story.
The Russian Monarch pulled me in from the very first page and never let go. What starts as a calculated kidnapping quickly turns into something far darker, deeper, and far more emotional than I expected.
Adrianne is not the sister meant to be taken. She’s the forgotten one—the afterthought—thrown into a brutal mafia world she didn’t even know she belonged to. Watching her navigate fear, confusion, and betrayal while still holding onto her inner strength made her incredibly compelling. She isn’t loud or flashy strong, but her quiet resilience hit hard.
Nikolai Volkov is everything you want in a dark mafia hero: cold, lethal, controlled, and shaped by cruelty. But the moment he realizes Adrianne was never meant to be collateral damage, the cracks begin to form. His internal battle—between survival, obedience, and the need to protect her—was one of the strongest parts of this book. The emotional conflict felt raw and believable.
The relationship development was perfectly paced. There’s no instant trust, no easy forgiveness—just two broken people finding safety in each other in the middle of violence and control. The tension simmers, the emotions run deep, and when the lines finally blur between captor, protector, and lover, it feels earned.
Dark, intense, and emotionally charged, The Russian Monarch delivers danger, depth, open-door steam, and a satisfying HEA. It can absolutely be read as a standalone, but it also fits beautifully into the larger series.
If you love mafia romance with high stakes, morally gray men, strong heroines, and an emotional punch—you don’t want to miss this one.
What a ride! Nikolai unexpectedly turned out to be my favourite mmc from this series. His backstory broke my heart. Adrienne's a kind woman. I would have loved to see more of her interests and personality. Their relationship develops through slow burning yearning and then gets physical. What the story lacks in emotional development between the main characters, is made up for in the action department and the dynamics outside of their relationship.
This was an exciting final instalment of the series and I enjoyed it overall.

I received an ARC from the author. My opinions are my own.
The Russian Monarch by Stephanie Amaral is Book 6 in the Lords of the Commission series, and as usual, the author did not disappoint.
Stephanie Amaral’s writing style continues to shine with her easy, flowing storytelling that pulls you in right away. The story opens strong with Nikolai kidnapping Adrianne—only to realize he’s taken the wrong sister, which immediately sets the tone and hooks your attention.
I really liked the MCs, Adrianne (Addy) and Nikolai. Their chemistry was solid, and Addy absolutely gives as good as she gets. Her ability to stand her ground and answer back made her an enjoyable and engaging FMC.
One of my favorite aspects of this series is the ongoing family and friend dynamics, and I loved seeing those relationships continue to develop here. It adds depth and continuity that makes the series feel connected and lived-in.
While I liked this book, I didn’t quite love it as much as others in the series. That said, it’s still a good, solid instalment and well worth the read—especially for fans of the Lords of the Commission.
I'm a Stephanie Amaral fangirl and when this book slipped into my Kindle, I made my world stop so I could read it. Dinner- ordered out. Laundry- could fold itself for all I cared. This story is a combination of plot and character driven storytelling. The plot drives what happens to the characters and the way they respond to the circumstances drives them into each other's arms.
The author writes so the reader can feel like they've been dropped right into the story with the characters. In the freezing snow, she doesn't hold back and brings in all the sensory details one would expect in that landscape. In a rundown warehouse, the reader can feel the warn materials and disconnected buildings. She uses all of these wonderfully so there's no "white walls" or a feeling of being above the story looking down upon it.
I really liked the way these two mains started and how they connected at first. Nikolai's decisions were brutal. His experiences painting everything he did with a solid reasoning. Addie, goodness, talk about being thrown straight into the fire. She had barely got her legs under her from the life she'd lived before only to be ripped from it and flung into Nikolai's sphere.
I read this book in 2 days staying up WAAAAAY too late into the wee hours of the morning because I needed to see Nikolai come to the realization that she was his in every single possible way. And, when it finally happens, it is marvelous.
I did sit there and wonder what the heck Matteo was thinking. (I will always be a Matteo fangirly especially when Joe Arden voices him because OMG) and you know what the author knew we'd all be wondering that too. So, she even thinks about Matteo too! If you have not read Bound By Deception what are you waiting for just goooo get it, too.
If Dark Romance Mafia with a Russian Bratva and Russian speaking MMC who is OTT/JP and can take a life without blinking with a level-headed non bratty, smart, self-sufficient FMC who just wants to survive is in your wheelhouse-- PICK THIS ONE UP! It is so good.
It can be read as a standalone but there are little callbacks to the previous stories. However, the author does a great job of giving the reader clues on what happened so you never feel like you don't have all the information you need to read this.
5 shining stars for story 5 flames for heat. 5 red flags that Nikolai totally waves- proudly. But he'd be ???? I chose the color red. 5 !!!!! for excellent writing.
From the very first chapters, Adrienne’s voice settles into your chest and refuses to leave. Her belief that she is “the mistake,” the lesser-than sister, the disposable one isn’t just something you read — it’s something you feel. Stephanie Amaral does an incredible job of immersing the reader in Adrienne’s emotional landscape, making her pain raw, constant, and achingly real. Every self-doubting thought, every quiet moment of resignation hit deep, and it’s impossible not to hurt alongside her.
Nikolai Volkov is everything you expect and then so much more. He’s ruthless, cold, and cutting — often cruel in ways that make you flinch — and yet he’s written with such depth that you can’t fully hate him. His trauma bleeds through the cracks of his icy exterior, and the push-and-pull between his darkness and his growing need to protect Adrienne is utterly consuming. You’re drawn to his blackened heart even while questioning yourself for it, which is exactly what makes this story so powerful.
The emotional tension between them is relentless. The forced proximity, the one-bed moments, the Beauty and the Beast undertones — all of it is layered with genuine emotional weight rather than just trope-driven heat. Their connection builds slowly, painfully, and beautifully, shaped by fear, survival, and two deeply broken people recognizing something familiar in each other.
This book is darker than previous entries in the series, but never gratuitous. The heavier themes are handled thoughtfully, with content warnings that matter, and they serve to deepen the emotional stakes rather than overshadow the romance. By the time you reach the end, the HEA feels earned — hard-won, emotional, and deeply satisfying.
If you’re looking for a romance that doesn’t just entertain but hurts, heals, and lingers long after the final page, The Russian Monarch delivers. This story left me emotionally wrung out, tender-hearted, and completely in awe. 💔🖤
Thank you for the ARC. I received a free copy and this review is only my opinion.
2.5 stars, but rounded up because of Goodreads not having half scores.
My feelings towards this book are incredibly mixed. The small plot twist towards the end had me hooked in, but aside from that I wasn’t really absorbed in the story. Most of the story felt repetitive, which slowed the pacing of the first 80% severely. By 33% in, I was already beyond annoyed with the “why do I care” questions coming from both characters. They knew why, I knew why, everybody knew why - move on. I normally love enemies to lovers, in fact that is pretty much all I read anymore. But this book just fell short on it. The story was fragmented in ways that made it impossible for me to really connect with the story. Too much was just glossed over with no development, and it really felt like the majority of the book wasn’t driving the plot forward.
Addy was new to the mafia world, grew up with a sick mother apparently, and came from poverty. However, there was zero elaboration on any of that. It was very much a “by the way this is a fact about the character that will not be tied into the story at all” situation. Aside from being flat out told she was from a poor background and new to the mafia world, there was literally nothing done with it. Nikolai was described as both brutal and traumatized (rightfully so, his upbringing sounds horrible), but it felt out of place almost.
Most of the story was predictable. One minute they were asking themselves why they liked each other, they’d have a moment, and instantly you’d know when you turned the page Nikolai was going to be back to his cold self and Addy was going to whine about how dumb she felt. That being said, I did like the plot twist. The ending tension was great, but it made me feel more disappointed. I wished the whole book felt like that. If I cut out the first 50-60% and made it into a novella, I think I’d have rated it 4 stars.
This is the final book in an amazing series. I've loved every single book and the characters, but I have to say this is hands down my favorite book in the series.
Adrianne is the half sibling of Matt, Liam, and Alison. They've recently learned about her and immediately brought her into the family fold, because family is everything to them. Adrianne grew up with her mom, working several jobs, living paycheck to paycheck, so this more lavish lifestyle is an adjustment. At her sisters wedding, she's kidnapped by the Russian mafia when they mistake her for Alison. Shortly after she's taken by Nikolai and his crew, he realizes she's the wrong sister. He can't fail his father so he decides to go with it and gives Adrianne green contacts, since she looks identical to her sister, just different eyes and slightly younger looking.
Nikolai has grown up with an extremely abusive father, who killed his mother. He watched his older sister drown and couldn't save her. His father has hidden both their bodies in unmarked graves for 20 years and Nikolai is desperate to find out where they are so he can give them a proper burial and finally have some peace. During the short journey to deliver Adrianne to Nikolai's father he falls for her but also doesn't believe in love or feelings, because that makes you weak. After delivering Adrianne to to his father, he realizes its a mistake and kidnaps her for a second time.
This isn't your instant love story, Nikolai is cold, calculating, dark, and the way he treats Adrianne makes you want to scream at times. Adrianne should hate Nikolai, but she see's the real him under his armor.
This book was amazing and I truly fell in love with Nikolai and Adrianne!
Omg, I am a total Mafia girlie and this book is an absolute must read for me.
Ever had the feeling of being in the wrong place at the wrong time??? Yep now you know how Adrianne must have felt. Well and if that’s not even enough, she was the wrong girl that turned out to be just the right one.
Adrianne gets kidnapped by the som of the Pakhan, just to find out that her kidnapper does not agree with the plans his father has and rescued her. Here is where Nikolai said goodbye to his freedom, to put the past to rest and try to find some peace.
The plot, I would have never guessed it, the outcome, omg it was the best that revenge ever taken. Maybe a little to short but don’t be fooled incredible.
This book had me absolutely hooked until around the 70% mark. The connection between both of them, getting to know each other, understanding the why it was absolutely breath taking. I read that book and couldn’t put it down. The only reason why it’s not 5 stars for me is shortly after it became hard to read and for me it was just a little jumpy for a few chapters. After that we went right back to breath taking reading.
Oh and have I mentioned how it crushed my heart???? I thought how could you???? But no worries she put it back together piece by piece.
Not to mention the spice🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️ Let me just say, my husband has not read a single word from this book but absolutely enjoyed it.
I have not read any of her previous books, but for sure I have added them to my TBR list. Stephanie you did just amazing, you and your books deserve so much more hype. I can’t wait to read more of your books.
I was one of the lucky ones that was selected as an ARC reader. This is my honest opinion and I was not payed to read or leave this review
Dark, dangerous, and utterly gripping, The Russian Monarch delivers a thrilling conclusion to Stephanie Amaral’s Lords of the Commission series. Packed with mafia intrigue, kidnapping, and morally gray romance, this final installment raises the stakes and refuses to let go.
When Adrianne Smith-Dornier is accidentally kidnapped at her sister’s wedding, chaos ignites. What begins as a mistake quickly becomes something far more twisted as Nikolai Volkov—a man shaped by violence, loyalty, and secrets—sets his sights on uncovering the truth about his mother and sister. Desperate for answers and trapped under his father’s ruthless control, Nikolai is a force driven by blood, power, and survival.
The suspense is relentless. While the story starts at a slower pace, everything shifts the moment we land in Russia. From there, the tension tightens, the danger escalates, and the dark romance takes center stage. Amaral excels at weaving emotional intensity with high-stakes mafia politics, keeping you on edge and constantly questioning who can be trusted.
What truly stood out was the atmosphere—cold, ruthless, and seductive—and the way the characters evolve under pressure. The push and pull between Adrianne and Nikolai is layered with fear, attraction, and inevitability, making their connection both unsettling and impossible to ignore.
As the final installment in the series, The Russian Monarch delivers in every way. It ties together lingering threads while upping the emotional and psychological stakes, cementing its place as my favorite book in the series. Dark romance lovers who crave suspense, danger, and morally complex characters will not want to miss this unforgettable finale.
What an an amazing book to finish the series on, I have been so excited for this book and the amazing author Stephanie Amaral did not disappoint. The story of Adrianne an Nikolai was amazing, breath taking such a rollercoaster from start to finish, I got so hooked on the story and invested in their story, there was alot of pull and push on each side that I actually wondered if they would get together. I loved that the MMC Nikolai even though he's a mafia bratva he still was vulnerable with his emotions and feelings and had past trauma that was triggered and the FMC was there for him and helped him out of it 🥰❤️ it's rare that we see the MMC with the rough upbeat and seeing so much traumatic stuff, I was also invested in Sasha what an amazing character, I have to say my absolute favourite part of the story was the end and I dont want to spoil it so il just say, yacht, sasha,.sea.of red and justice, I actually cried and clapped and rooted them on I seriously loved this scene. Anyone that enjoys dark mafia will for sure enjoy this book and the rest in the series, Its very rare that I read a series that each books grips me and takes me on a rollercoaster and I'm invested in all the characters stories but this author Stephanie Amaral does it every time especially with this book I loved it from start to finish, she's an amazing author, so unique and really draws you in and brings the story and characters alive, this book is 100 Stars I loved it
Interconnected standalone. I don’t feel that you have to read the series in order to follow this book. Stephanie does a good job of relating back to other books in the series with out making you feel like you missed out on something.
As with the other books in this series… Stephanie delivers for her readers!! Spice yes yes. Plot yes yes. One plot point I saw coming, but there was another one that really blew me. This was a botched kidnapping, then kidnapping the kidnappee again. Please check the trigger warning because there are some traumas that are explored (some on page some that are mentions from the past including parent death/teenage sibling death). The revenge plot at the end was absolutely “poetic”. Nikolai was starting to make me mad with his hot and cold. Sir pick a temp and stay there.
I found Lords of the commission in early 2025 and I started in the middle (unknowingly) but again, I didn’t feel like I lost too much of the story. I ended up going back and reading ALL of the series, including the novella when it was re-released. She has become one of my favorite authors and I can not to see what she has in store for us.
I received a copy of this book as an ARC. This is an honest review.
So this all starts with Adrianne mistakenly getting kidnapped. This is what originally drew me to this book. This book ultimately left me with mixed feelings. While I enjoyed the very first part where Adrianne is kidnapped and the suspense of Nikolai finding out the truth the middle section of the book left me wanting to just finish it. This is mostly because I thought Adrianne would be a strong heroine because of her past. Instead we get a girl who has sex anytime Nikolai shows niceness even if the previous times this happened he left her alone and sometimes insulted her. Nikolai's hot and cold act was not appreciated. However once we get to 66% of the book it once more gets interesting and you become anxious to see how they get their HEA. Ultimately I felt like it took forever to read the middle compared to the ending that ended in a flash leaving me wanting more which was something I didn't even consider I could feel during the middle. So because I enjoyed 2/3 of the book I would recommend it and read more of her books to see if Stephanie could become a favorite new mafia author. I personally read three books of a new author and see how much I liked those three books. I don't judge just by one book as I have some favorite authors who have written books I haven't liked.
I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
What an incredible way to wrap up the Lords of the Commission series! Stephanie Amaral saved something special for last with Nikolai Volkov and Adrienne Dornier.
Nikolai is a dark, tortured, fiercely protective MMC whose entire life has been shaped by his father’s cruelty and secrets. His need for answers drives him toward revenge against the Battaglia family, but one unexpected mistake changes everything. I loved watching his walls slowly come down as his connection with Adrienne deepened.
Adrienne was such a refreshing heroine. She’s still reeling from discovering a family she never knew existed when her life is turned upside down in an instant. Thrown into a dangerous world and forced into close quarters with her kidnapper, she proves to be far stronger and more resilient than she ever realized. The forced proximity trope was done so well, and the emotional bond that formed felt natural and intense.
The chemistry, tension, and character growth made this book impossible to put down. I’ve truly loved every book in this series, and this finale delivered on all fronts. I can’t wait to see what Stephanie Amaral gives us next!
This book completely consumed me. From the very first chapter it pulls you into a dark, dangerous world where one mistake changes everything. Nik kidnaps Addy by accident and that single error becomes the catalyst for one of the most intense, emotional mafia/Bratva romances I’ve read. The chemistry between Nik and Addy is off-the-charts, layered with tension, longing, and undeniable passion. Nik is a powerful, tortured hero trying desperately to escape the brutal world his father built. Watching him struggle between the monster he was raised to be and the man Addy makes him want to become was heartbreaking and beautiful. Addy is strong, resilient, and refuses to let fear define her she challenges Nik in ways no one else ever has. This story is full of emotional trauma, danger , betrayal, redemption and of course love!! It’s definitely a ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ read for me.
I want to thank Stephanie for the opportunity to receive this ARC. This whole series was absolutely amazing and I can’t believe it’s over!!
This book is a first for me from this author and won't be the last. We are immediately immersed into the mafia world with a kidnapping. AT A WEDDING, no less. He took his leverage so he could get the information his father dangled in front of him. This was supposed to be the end. Kidnap the Italian mafia princess and the information will be his. So it begins. The descent into the dark, possessive, and slightly unhinged story of Nikolai and Adrianne. The chemistry between them from the beginning is off the charts. Nikolai has demons that come out to play and that leaves Adrianne in the cross hairs. But, OMG, when the chemistry finally combusts, Nikolai is playing no games. He makes it oh, so abundantly clear, that she is marked. For him only. But there are things that keep Nik chained to the past. and betrayals he never saw coming. And what's a Mafia romance without family wars. And the spice combined with his dirty mouth is 🥵🥵 So, buckle up buttercup, grab a coffee and come on the ride!
Stephanie, thank you for the wonderful start of the year🥰this book is a truly wonderful gift to me♥️we waited a long time for it but it was worth it🤭 what happens when you try to manipulate the Russian mafia who kidnapped you🤭an obsession that is too strong to be healthy..beauty doesn't fall for the beast, it's just a lie from fairy tales.. Nikolai Volkov, a man with all his demons and Adrianne Dornier, a woman who will help him free himself from the shackles of his past.. If you've never read Stephanie's books, my recommendation is definitely this book♥️ I know this series is over but I can't wait for the next one😍all recommendations from me

-Mistaken Identity -First Person POV: Dual -Innocent FMC -Revenge Plot -Bratva vs. Italian Mafia
This was the finale of all finales. The final book in the Lords of Commission series. And it did not disappoint. Adrianne and Nikolai had a wild journey. I personally think Nikolai never really hated her. He seen her after he kidnapped her and almost instantly fell for her. He never showed it but he knew. And she was always on the fence. Because who would fall in love with the man who kidnapped you. There is love, there is overcoming grief, there is even coming together for take downs. This story is full of twists and turns, some that you could never see coming. It will break your heart but then also help glue back the pieces. I’ve read every book in this series and I hate to say it, but this might be my favourite one. Stephanie Amaral just has a way with words and I definitely felt commanded the whole time I was reading.
Check the TW’s prior. I will forever recommend this series with every fiber of my being!
5 ⭐️ the last book in the lords of commission series and i cant believe it’s over already i’ve loved all the stories and characters so far but i think this is possibly my favourite book
stephanie’s writing never disappoints and i was hooked on this story from the very start the bratva/mafia aspects of the story were really entertaining and honestly had me anxious at times and the tension and chemistry between the characters just made it sensational
i loved both Adrianne’s and Nikolais characters and the growth between them i love an MMC that actually shows emotion and real struggles with trauma etc
if you want a story that’s got danger, tension, spice, betrayal, and redemption then you need to read this this is an interconnected standalone but you nEED to read the whole series it’s a 12/10
this book was honestly amazing and i truly loved everything about it
thank you so much to Stephanie for this ARC and for letting me be part of the team 🫶🏼🫶🏼
Well this was a bittersweet read as it is the last book in the Lords of the Commission series (but can definitely be read as a standalone), an immersive world I have followed from the beginning! A dark mafia romance series that captures you from the get go. In this book, we see a mistakenly kidnapped Adrianne, navigate her way through the turmoil of being abducted and her feelings that develop for her captor, bratva ruthless Nikolai. It is beautifully written, with lots of humour as well as deep emotions. The author just has a way of drawing you in, keeping you on the edge of your seat with baited breath and conveying every emotion. The story line is interesting, the events and plot twists unexpected. The ending makes the emotional rollercoaster well worth the ride. I would have liked to see a chapter at the end that brought all the characters from the series back together with an update for us on where they are at but that's probably because I don't want this journey to end!
perfect finale to the series and an new favourite ❤️
Wow what a finale to an amazing series! Stephanie has a way with words literally. The twists and turns in these books are nail biting and they keep you engrossed in the book the whole way through. Adrianne is the estranged sister of the Bagliata Familga and settling into her new life after the loss of her mother when she is kidnapped by the Bratvia at her sisters wedding, by a rival of theirs. Nicholai is brooding, strong tall dark and handsome but also a protector and damn right morally grey although as you go through this train wreck with them, you see his true colours and Adrienne shows her transformation from quiet moth to butterfly. Sad to leave this series Steph please let them all have cameos in future books 🙏🏻 Spice 🌶️🌶️🌶️.5 Plot 📜📜📜📜📜 Overall ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (this encompasses, writing, engagement, character development and all of the above ratings)
After the teaser at the end of Book 5, my expectations for this finale were sky-high. While there were elements I truly admired, I walked away with mixed feelings. Addison was the highlight of this read for me. She is a powerhouse of a FMC - strong, resilient, and consistent throughout the story. Unfortunately, I struggled with Nik. I really wanted to love him, but his "hot and cold" attitude became more frustrating than endearing. Instead of building tension, it felt like it hindered the emotional connection. As a series conclusion, I felt a bit left hanging. With such a great cast of characters established over the previous books, I was looking for more substantial closure. I wanted to see where everyone landed and needed more information regarding the Bratva. Overall, while the character work for Addison was excellent, the "happily ever after" felt a little incomplete for the series. I’m sad to say it didn't quite live up to the anticipation for me.
Oh Stephanie, how I love your books, and how you always make me yearn for more. You’re an absolute queen! 💜 Ofcourse this book was everything I was hoping for, and more. I expected no less, truthfully.
I just loved Nikolai and Adrianne, how could I not. Nikolai is unhinged, possessive, traumatized, kind of a d!ck and completely unapologetic about it. He was expecting the other sister, the feisty mafia princess who looks a lot like the very innocent Adrianne. Adrianne has been through a lot in life, and she didn’t grew up with her mafia family. Nikolai’s dangerous world is new to her, and while she does get feistier during the story, she starts of scared and quiet with just a little hint of that famous Battaglia feist. I loved their back and forth, with all their ups-and-downs. And I absolutely loved their character growth.
The story is really good, full of twists, full of danger, full of trauma healing, and ofcourse full of emotional damage. There is a touch of “The Beauty & the Beast” in there as well, which I really enjoyed.
This was a great book to end the series with, and I will miss these characters for sure. Ofcourse I will keep Stephanie Amaral on my raidar, because I can’t wait to see what she’ll do next!
Oooo, the end of a brilliant series!! Absolutely fabulous 👌 Adrienne is the wrong sister, the forgotten sister; she is not the mafia princess that she is misidentified as. Nikolai is the dark mafia monster that lives in the shadows. He has a great deal of trauma and is trying to overcome this and get closure. He kidnaps her to use her to get his own closure.
They are both broken individuals for very different reasons. Together, they lean on each other and begin to heal slowly. This is a slow burn filled with emotion, tension, and heat. This book was heartbreaking in places: Nikolai's childhood, Adrienne's life, and the way they see themselves. This may be book 6 in the Lords Of The Commission Series, but it can be read as a standalone. Please make sure you check the trigger warnings ⚠️. Enjoy!
Dark Mafia Perfection. Stephanie does it again! There is just something about her writing that always has me hooked in from page one, ya know the late at night just one more chapter until the book is done? This is always like that for me with these books! Nikolai is looking for leverage against the Italia mafia and this he is kidnapping Alison Battaglia, instead he wound up with the wrong sister, the nobody of the family. Soon he realizes that maybe Adrianne is exactly what he needs. I felt like I saw a lot of my self in Adrianne (other than the Mafia part. A girl can only dream) when an author can make me feel that way then you know they are a great writer! Oh and Nikolai.. well as Adrianne puts it, he's an a**hole with a god complex and I don't know why I love my men this way. The story is intense and absolutely feral, so of course perfectly written! Chef's Kiss from start to finish!
4.5⭐⭐. I received this amazing book as an ARC and have the honor of sharing my review willing and for free b
A kidnapping. Around love. A man who doesn't know emotion, he thought he liked them long ago. A tyrant. A sorry if reception and the will to carry on when life no longer matters. Ms. Stephanie Amaral did such a wonderful job creating her MMC Nikolai and FMC Adrianne. A breath of fresh air in how she has the two interact. The banter. The love hate. The back and forth. Nikolai's strength in who he is and a person where he can see the beauty in little things even though he feels dead. A shitty father and how survival made his strength. Defiant and strong willed FMC Adrianne. At first glance they thought she was at, submissive, weak. But not sure she prove them wrong. So much so that she made and then stole the heart of a psychopathic monster.
Title: The Russian Monarch Author: Stephanie Amaral Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Spice:🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️
Where do I even start! There are not enough words to describe how amazing this book is and how much I enjoyed reading about Nik and Addy! This story starts off when the wrong girl gets kidnapped and ends with being the best dang decision ever made! I am so happy that his father got what he deserved because let’s be honest he deserved every bit of being fed to the sharks. But more than anything the push and pull between these two. So much raw, intense, powerful, but yet love, admiration, and desire. This book definitely was a roller coaster of emotions and feelings. I felt it all right out of the gate. And I enjoyed the ride. I give it to the other who wrote an amazing book. She knows what she’s doing when she writes her characters and I’m here for all of it!!!
The Russian Monarch is dark, addictive, and so satisfying. I couldn't put it down!!

Adrianne is kidnapped by mistake and thrown into Nikolai’s dangerous world, where fear turns into tension, chemistry, and eventually love.
Their connection is intense, the twists will keep you hooked, and the spice fits the story perfectly. Adrianne’s strength and Nikolai’s unraveling made it impossible to stop reading.
I loved every minute. It’s emotional, gripping, and a great ending to the series.
Thank you Stephanie for writing this amazing series!!
