Holiday Village Romances #3

The Cupid Conspiracy

Rate this book
Beatrix Nightshade is used to being weighed down by responsibility.

First with raising her two younger twin sisters after their parents died, then with her job championing the underdog Forgotten Holidays at City Hall, a life of hard work and fighting for what she wants is all she’s ever known. Just once she’s like things to be easy.

Curtis Heartson is a cupid who’s charms and good looks have gotten him far in life.

A lobbyist for Valentine’s Day, Curtis loves to win and make it look easy. He especially loves rubbing it in the face of his adorably angry rival, Beatrix. But romantic love is highly prized in the Valentine’s Neighborhood and Curtis can’t seem to take his career to the next level without being in a serious relationship. He can’t just fake it: cupids can sense bonds of strong emotion. But hate is easy to confuse with love and even if no one loves him, Curtis does know someone who hates him.

Curtis comes to Beatrix with a proposition: a marriage of convenience.

A way to pull the wool over his superiors’ eyes. One where he helps her with her goals and she helps him with his. A business arrangement. What could go wrong?

But even the best plans have a way of going awry. When real feelings start sneaking into their strictly-business relationship, Curtis will have to choose: his career? Or his heart?

This is book 3 in the Holiday Village Romance series, and it was as cute and enjoyable as the first two!

First off, I love these books, I love the world the the author has created in the Holiday Village. This third story follows Beatrix (a witch) and Curtis Heartson (a cupid) and their marriage of convenience. They are pure enemies based on something that Curtis did to Beatrix years ago (supposedly).

I loved this story, I love the description of Curtis's house, all the pinks and Cherry Blossoms. As Beatrix explains "It looks like something out of a Valentine's Fairytale." I love how we are literally reading a fairytale, and yet the characters describe things in relation to a fairytale. I just imagine Curtis wearing pink all the time, being a cupid and all it makes complete sense. Some of the Valentine's characters are other things than Cupids too, like there are apparently "living roses" who can talk and walk around, how cute does that sound!

I love how dedicated Beatrix is to helping out the forgotten holiday creatures. It seems kind of amusing that there are forgotten holiday creatures without a place to live, but when you learn more about them it is really sad, and Beatrix is doing great work to ensure all Holiday Village residents have a comfortable place to live that suits their weather needs.

I love Pink, and the constant descriptions of Valentine's day pinks in this book just make me smile, especially with Valentine's Day in our human world right around the corner. Another quote that describes the over the top-ness that each of the holidays have when they are celebrating their holidays "The Village Square looks like a pink unicorn threw up on it. That thought my be a little unkind, but seriously, everything is pink, pink, pink" I can truly imagine all that pink as the Valentine's creatures put on their Valentine's Carnival, and it really makes me wish I could experience it!

And don't forget the spice! Another part of why I love these books is that the author is writing this super cutesy Holiday Village, with full on holiday dedicated neighborhoods, a true fairytale, and then boom you get actual spice! I love how Jordyn Alexander does this, it mixes the super cute with the super spicy and it works perfectly.

I loved both the main characters in this story, and truly look forward to the 4th book, although we don't know who it will be about this time! The first two books end with a hint about the next book, book 3 did not! Makes the suspense even more exciting!

Thank you so much to booksirens and the author for a review copy of this book! I am leaving this review voluntarily.

✨✨✨ The Cupid Conspiracy by Jordyn Alexander (@authorjordyn) is the third book of her series Holliday Village Romances.

Dedication:
To those who fight for the little guy. We need more Beatrixes in the world.

Tropes:
🧙🏻‍♀️ Rivals to Lovers
💖 Marriage of Convenience
🧙🏻‍♀️ Witch X Cupid
💖 Fated Mates

Jordyn’s third book in her Holiday Village Romances series tells the story of Beatrix, the older sister of Gertrud and Gretchen. She has always put the needs of others before her own, first by stepping in as a parental figure for the twins and then by advocating for the Forgotten Holidays. One of her biggest adversaries is Curtis Heartson, a lobbyist for Valentine’s Day, who constantly finds ways to interrupt her deals. However, when he hits a roadblock in his career, he presents Beatrix with an unconventional offer.

This story is not just a charming love story with a third-act breakup; it also teaches us that sometimes it’s better to look out for others and that we can find happiness by helping those around us rather than always seeking the best option for ourselves.

I was so hooked that I read it in one sitting. And I never thought that a cupid could go into a rut, but it’s hawt.

Quotes:

“Alright, alright, I get it,” I grouch, getting her point. “He’s physically attractive, yes, but the minute he opens his mouth . . .” “Not a problem,” Jynx says with a naughty grin. “I’d just bring a gag.”

She’s like a drug and I can’t get enough.

Omg I love this series so much. It has all you want from a Hallmark movie but in a book and add monsters lite. They all have those cozy vibes that you want from a romcom holiday series. I'm hoping there's a St. Patrick's day one next because I don't want to have to wait forever for the next one.
In this book we get the story on the oldest sister Beatrix and she is giving the best black cat energy! (If you've read the first two books you'll know what I am talking about) And when we meet Curtis he's giving off major Fboi vibes. I really enjoyed seeing how these two came together and how their different personalities meshed together.
I can not express this enough- if you like cozy books, Hallmark type movies, and a smattering of monsters you will probably also love this series

I love the initial banter and the fact that Beatrix remains her grumpy old self.

The Cupid Conspiracy is book 3 in the Holiday Village Romances series but can definitely be read as a standalone! This series focuses on different magical holiday creatures that all live in a village together. This particular book focuses on Beatrix (a witch) and Curtis (a Cupid). This was such a cute and fun filled holiday read with a perfect amount of spice. This series can be read in any order or as standalone as each book focuses on a specific couple. Characters from the other books are mentioned so I would personally read all of them, it makes the mentions of other characters that much more enjoyable! I love the intermixing of the holidays, it’s not something that’s seen often and allows these stories to be enjoyed at anytime of year. They’re short, sweet, and spicey novellas perfect for holidays!
Thank you Jordyn Alexander & BookSirens for this ARC! I cannot wait for the next one!!

I love this series so much! Its been so fun to see each of the sisters find love. Beatrix being the oldest and having to raise her siblings definitely formed a lot of her tough exterior and it was nice to see her let those walls down, a little. Grumpy x Sunshine cannot be beaten as an amazing rope though and Curtis was sunshine in a horny man. I loved how much he teased her and how it really was a form of just keeping her attention on him. Until he looked past her and to what she was fighting for. I loved them! This actually may be my favorite of the series, and I’ve loved them all!

So cute! I love that we are getting to see each of the Nightshade sisters getting their happy endings!

The Cupid Curtis has been a thorn in Beatrix’s side for a long time. Always swooping in and proposing deals she’s had planned before she gets a chance, only they benefit his town and not the forgotten holidays.

Curtis proposes a plan (literally) that will help her get what she wants for the forgotten village while also getting what he wants at work: a promotion.

Read The Cupid Conspiracy to find out if Beatrix accepts Curtis’ proposal and all the witty banter that may come with it! 😉

This is the third book in this great series. I enjoyed this one just as much as i enjoyed the first two.
In this book we follow the third sister into a fake marriage with a cupid… what could go wrong? Like the first two books this book has a bit of lovely spice. Great holiday read.

Unique relationships and I’m here for it

I love these so much! This has become one of my favorite holiday series and I cannot wait until the next book! The spice is spicy and the tropes are troping lol. The characters in these stories are all so relatable, but different at the same time. I love all the different holidays being intertwined in such a unique way! Go read all of these, you will love them!

Who doesn't love a work rivals/enemies-to-lovers story with the perfect amount of banter and spice? That is exactly what you get in this book. I loved learning more about Bea's background and definitely identified with her character. The fated mates aspect of this book was fabulous as well. If you haven't read this series yet, what are you doing?

“Awww” was my actual feeling after finishing this book. “The Cupid Conspiracy” is the third book in the series, written by Jordyn Alexander, that tells the love stories of people living in the Holiday Village, where all major and smaller holidays preside. I've read the first two books and have completely fallen in love with this series and the whole idea of holidays having their own village and lives, the personification of them and us having a chance to get to know them as people.

“The Cupid Conspiracy” promises to be an enemies-to-lovers romance, and although the enmity between the two main characters is not that big, it is such a fun read. Jordyn Alexander writes in a simple yet compelling and flowing style that's easy to read and enjoy. These three books (including this one) are full of fun banter, cute romantic vibes and so much coziness it feels like you're being enveloped in a hug. I love it. The characters are quite simplistic, to my eyes, but they give off this quirky and cute vibe that compensates for it and is entirely enough for us to fall in love with them.

And I do really love the idea of this village. I would not mind living in a cozy, beautiful village with different neighborhoods dedicated to the biggest festivities, with all the fun weather associated with each holiday (think cold but not too cold for Christmas, with gorgeous white landscapes, ice-skating etc or blossoming cherry trees and fragrant streets and soft spring breeze for Valentine's)! It's such a beautiful fantasy to lose yourself in, especially during these crazy times in the real world.

Thank you to the author and BookSirens for the arc copy of this book. I enjoyed it so much and this is my honest, voluntary review.

The Cupid Conspiracy is another cozy paranormal romance from the Holiday Village Romances series. If you are looking for your next Valentine's Day read, I highly recommend this one!

Beatrix is the eldest of the Nightshade sisters. She focuses strongly on her job as a lobbyist for the Forgotten Holiday village. Beatrix is tough, determined, and doesn't take no for an answer. If it weren't for the charming and obnoxious cupid, Curtis Heartson, who is always one step ahead of her, she would be cutting more deals. Curtis Heartson is a lobbyist for Valentine's Day village. He is as much of a workaholic as Beatrix when he sees his opportunity to get a promotion. He comes to Beatrix with a proposition. If he convinces Beatrix to marry him, he can finally climb the corporate ladder, and she can land some of the deals that the Forgotten Holiday creatures are desperately relying on.

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

This was my favorite Holiday Village Romance. Beatrix and Curtis are my favorite couple, and their banter was perfect. They are similar in that they are both career oriented and know what they want. Curtis's personality is laid back, and you definitely get a sleazy businessman vibe from him. Beatrix is serious and brutally honest at times. Right away, Curtis is teasing Beatrix in City Hall, and I thought it was adorable. Things definitely get spicy between the two of them. I loved the idea of the Cupid's rut.

cozy fantasy • cozy romance • cupid • high fantasy • marriage of convenience • novella • paranormal romance • rivals to lovers • romantasy • valentine's • witches • dual pov • fated love • spicy

Halloween Witch Beatrix can't stand her rival lobbyist, the Valentine's Day Cupid Curtis, for always sabotaging her plans. When he proposes a marriage of convenience to get a promotion and promises to help her causes, Beatrix agrees with some conditions. Sealing the deal of their marriage in name only, the couple continue their rivalry as they fight on different sides of their issues. When everything changes for Curtis, Beatrix is all in, too. However, Curtis's village enacts a plan that upends everything, leaving Beatrix feeling betrayed by her rival-turned-lover. Curtis has to make a move to save his marriage and one shot at happiness.

These Holiday Village novellas are just the cutest! The author once described them as "whimsical," and I completely agree. This one packed a heavier dash of spice as Curtis goes into a lust-driven rut and drags Beatrix with him. No one's complaining, but there's definitely some spice here! Beatrix has been in the background of the first two novellas, which each feature one of her sisters, but getting to see her story was great! I loved how passionate she is about her job and how she reluctantly let Curtis into her life. He is a secret softie, but only for her. We love those cinnamon rolls! Also, seeing more of the Holiday Village was awesome. This world is so creative!

It's Valentine's Day's turn for a commercial holiday story! I have to say, I'm really enjoying how this series is developing - there was a socio-political backdrop here (makes sense, our two love interests are both lobbyists) that really added to the world building and took the story beyond the romance. I loved getting more of an insight into what's going on in the Holiday Village and how everything works.

Now, consent is sexy, and explicit consent is just about as sexy as it gets, so when I saw a cw for biologically imperative sex I did get a bit worried. I didn't need to be - this facet was handled so well in this story. Our MMC is a Cupid, which means he's got some physical attributes that can hurry the romance along, but I never got the sense that our FMC wasn't one hundred per cent on board with what was going on. It's more like they were an added bonus to her having a good time.

I do wonder where the series is going to go now the Nightshade sisters have all got their HEAs, but I'm very happily along for the ride now. These stories are little slices of low stress fun that I'm happily consuming, and I'm intrigued about where they're going to go next!

I read an advance copy of this book. My thoughts are very much my own.

Admittedly, I was intrigued by the Haters to Lovers trope (even though I typically feel lukewarm about this trope because sometimes authors make these haters downright cutting with their banter - and then I’m supposed to forget it when they fall in love?!)

But I’ve loved all the dynamics that Jordyn’s built in the past, so I was intrigued to find out how she’d inevitably make me love the trope in this story. Mission accomplished!

There’s nothing I love more than a guy who loves a grumpy, feisty gal and doesn’t want to change her for it. And the Cupid in this story, Curtis, is the perfect, ambitious match for our Witch, Beatrix.

The side alley proposal between political rivals ends up twisting and turning into a little lust, a lot of reconciliation, warm fuzzies, a few misunderstandings- and comes out the other side with the kind of sweet and spicy goodness that has you burning through this novella in record time.

**loved it!!!!**

(I was lucky enough to receive an ARC for this book, but I’m happily leaving this review of my own accord - Twas a delight, so naturally I can’t keep my yapper shut about it!)

4.5 stars.

This was utterly adorable. The story follows Beatrix and Curtis, two rival lobbyists for their respective Holidays and they have often butted heads. In fact, Curtis seems to really like needling Bea and being a menace to her and her causes. So when Curtis out of nowhere proposes to Bea, she is right to be suspicous. But, with some incentives, Bea agress to Curtis' plan for a marriage of convenience and moves in. But nothing is as simple as it seems and both are in for some reveals.

I love the holiday village series and this was an excellent addition to the collection. I adored Bea from the start and was rooting for her causes right alongside her the entire time. Curtis too was adorable and I was so glad to figure out he had a much bigger heart than he initially shows you. The romance was sweet and spicy and the rivals to lovers worked well for me. The HEA too was just chefs kiss! I had a bunch of giggles as well on the way which I love in a book.

Highly recommend this one and I can't wait for what comes next in the Holiday Village!

The third installment of the Holiday Village series! I loved the first two books, and was so excited for this one!
Beatrix and Curtis are sassy, and motivated and definitely a cute couple. I think the way their relationship was structured and progressed throughout the story was interesting and well done.
The idea of the biological traits Cupids have was fun to read and I definitely loved how it was used for the spice 😉
Speaking of spice, woah was it hot! I read this in one sitting!
~If you like:
Dual POV
Fated Mates
Rivals to lovers
Marriage of Convince

I thought the characters maybe needed a little more of a push or drive for their chemistry like those little moments of attraction, after having animosity for each other for so long, but after all love and hate are very close and I think this story did a great job of showing making that pathway for the characters to cross.

As always thanks so much to the author for allowing me to read this !! I cannot wait to see what’s next! I’m also excited to read The War Brides series from this author !

I really like the Holiday Village Series! How different, cute and unique they are! However, I have to say that this third book just got in my feelings, with how funny, sweet and lovable this book is!

Firstly, Curtis Heartson… ✨AMAZING!✨The tension? The flirtatious banter? The way he got under Beatrix skin? Just ✨AMAZING!✨

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Although I don't usually like the fated mates trope, I genuinely liked it in this book! We went from enemies to "friends" to lovers! To knowing they were made for each other, and you don't get a lot of that! Not only that, but their relationship is so healthy! They owned up to their faults and fixed the problems they had to solve!

Once again, I think that spicy things aren't made for me, but none of that took the fun out of this book!

The Cupid conspiracy is the third book in the holiday village romance series and it was another light hearted read for the win. It’s a valentines themed romance which follows the MCs Beatrix and Curtis. They are rival enemies, but Curtis proposes that they enter into a marriage of convenience where they can mutually help one another reach their goals. I’m a sucker for the enemies to lovers trope and highly enjoyed the relationship and banter between this pair. The plot line, character development, and setting were a good time. I enjoyed Beatrix’s prickly attitude. They balanced one another quite well. This was a short quick read perfect for those seeking a fast paced cozy romance. Jordyn somehow managed to make this Anti- Valentine’s Day girl believe in Cupid. 🩷💋

Themes & Tropes:
🩷 Enemies to Lovers
❤️Forced Proximity
🤍Magical Creatures
🩷Marriage of Convenience

Overall, Liked this read! If you haven’t read the first two books in the series, go do that for even more fun!

Another adorable short story by Jordyn Alexander!

The moment I saw there was another Holiday Village Romance book available I grabbed it and started reading immediately. These are like a single serve bag of Doritos-a quick and delicious indulgence. The only thing that I didn't love about this one was the fated mates bit. It's one of my least favorite tropes and I felt like the story didn't need it. I generally feel a fated mates trope weakens a relationship by taking choice out of it and relying on fate, rather than chemistry and friendship, to make the characters fall in love. The thing is, this book did NOT need that! They had excellent chemistry and they were able to build a healthy relationship once they owned up to their faults and fixed the problems they solved.

Otherwise, this was an adorable story. Not my favorite in the line-up, but enjoyable all the same.

I absolutely adored this one! Since I gave the previous book 5 stars and this one is even better, I'll have to give this one 5 stars as well.

Such an adorable story with all the spice, banter and love I look for in a romantic comedy novella like this. I'm in awe of Jordyn's ability to write novellas that don't give you the feeling all story was rushed. Love the vibe of the Holiday Village, the description of the Village square during Valentine's made me giggle because I really started to picture a pink unicorn throwing up on it. The characters are also so well written, Jynx Foxglove was such an amazing add to this story!

Loved the whole Rivals to Lovers in a marriage of convinience and that two very different people can be more alike than they thought.

Thanks to Booksirens and Jordyn Alexander for giving me the opportunity to read the ARC for this Novella as well and giving my honest opinion in return.

I loved this story, I love the description of Curtis’s house, all the pinks, and Cherry Blossoms. As Beatrix explains “It looks like something out of a Valentine’s Fairytale.” I love how we are literally reading a fairytale, yet the characters describe things in relation to a fairytale. I just imagine Curtis wearing pink all the time, being a cupid and all, it makes complete sense.

I love how dedicated Beatrix is to help the forgotten holiday creatures to have a comfortable place to live that suits their weather needs. It seems kind of amusing that there are forgotten holiday creatures without a place to live, but when you learn more about them it is really sad and makes a lot of sense.

Seriously, both the characters are just plain love❤️

4.5 ⭐️’s

This is book 3 of the Holiday Village Romance series, but no worries, they don’t have to be read in order. First off, I love the idea of holidays having their own village, creatures, and setting. What is special about this book is while the primary setting is in the Valentines Day village, it’s focus is on helping and protecting residents of forgotten holidays. I loved this idea. Yes, while the holiday is focused on romantic love maybe we can expand our bandwidth for celebrating love in all its forms.

Themes
-Cupid X Witch
-Rivals to Lovers
-Fated Mates
-Dual POV
-Marriage of convenience
-Holiday Romance

Curtis and Beatrix’s character challenges are relatable. Curtis manipulates the system to get ahead and then must choose between love and his career. Beatrix likes to please her loved ones and help those around her—no matter creature type or where they are from—but when will she put her needs first?

The cupids are unique-I’m talking saliva and lust dust here (ha!)

Thank you Jordyn and BookSirens for the ARC!

FORMAT: Ebook Arc (Release 1/31/25)

💭💭💭

Oh my goodness this book was SO stinkin stellar, and I honestly loved everything about it. Gobbled it right up.😂🩷 The plot line, characters, and magical elements were so unique and creative that it left me wishing I was a part of the Holiday Village. Bea and Curtis have truly become two of my favorite main characters after seeing them find theirselves and their true values. Watching Beatrix let loose and have some out-of-her-comfort-zone festivities and friskiness had me cheering her on the whole time like “get it girl!!!!” 😂 Curtis took me a hot minute to be a fan, but I truly think it was after the marriage started and we learned both of their true feelings I was head over heels for Curtis as well.😂🥰

My word, I absolutely LOVE this series! This book is the third in the series and oldest sister Beatrix finally gets her story!

Beatrix works hard as a lobbyist to improve the lives of the Forgotten Holiday residents. It is her passion and she is good at her job. Her fellow lobbyist, Curtis, a cupid, has been a thorn in her side for years. He is working his way up the ranks, but can't achieve his ultimate goal since he is a single cupid, which is frowned upon. So he proposes a business arrangement for a year… marriage to help him and he'll help her get some of her projects approved.

The banter and chemistry Curtis and Beatrix have is so tasty! I cannot wait to see what's next in this holiday world!

I received this as an ARC read and I was so happy to! I really enjoyed the first two novellas in the Holiday Village series.
This one has just about everything I look for in a book!
Fated mates ✅
Rivals-to-lovers ✅
Banter ✅
Marriage of convenience ✅

For quick and satisfying reads Jordyn really knows how to put it all into her writing. I love that all 3 books have focused on the witch sisters and each of them falling for a holiday character ! This one was a Cupid 💘 and perfect for Valentine’s Day coming up. The banter between Bea and Curtis was so cute and funny! I love that they were rivals but ended up being fated mates. I definitely recommend if you enjoy short, spicey romance stories. A big thanks to Jordyn for allowing me to ARC read this !! Release date is January 31st 2025

Another favorite in my opinion. The hoilday village series just grows larger and larger. And you finally get to see more love stories of our favorite characters. This is such an easy and fun read. Filled with second chances, enemies-to-lovers, and arranged marriages. It's so well written that you can practically feel the love-hate tension between the main characters, and see the undercurrents of a potential development in their "relationship". You'll experience the volatile frustrations of "you vs the world", shocking revelations of truths coming to light, and the blushing gasps as new real-estate is unveiled. I highly recommend this book and entire series.

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
