Air Marshal Kristine Duncan is not on duty when a hijacker attempts to seize control of the plane she and her friends are on as they head out on a much-needed vacation. Jumping into action and aided by FBI Special Agent Andrew Ross, Kristine thwarts the attack and the plane lands safely. But as the investigation into the incident gets underway, Kristine and Andrew are confused at every step. Nothing about the investigation goes as it should, and each layer they peel back just reveals another layer of perplexity.
As the two work together to navigate a web of deception, blame, and personal reckoning, they find there's more to this story than meets the eye--and more to love and admire about each other. They'll have to put their skills to the test--and their hearts on the line--to unravel the truth and ensure that justice prevails.
USA Today bestselling author Lynette Eason is back with another edge-of-your-seat thrill ride as she brings her popular Lake City Heroes series to a shocking and satisfying close.
Lynette Eason grew up in Greenville, SC. She graduated from the University of South Carolina, Columbia, and then obtained her masters in education from Converse College. Author of twenty inspirational romantic suspense books, she is also a member of American Christian Fiction Writers (ACFW) and Romance Writers of America (RWA). In 1996, Lynette married "the boy next door" and now she and her husband and their two children make their home in Simpsonville, South Carolina."
The sky is not always friendly - just as Air Marshall Kristine Duncan and FBI Special Agent Andrew Ross.
Fasten your seatbelt and prepare for a bumpy ride through the pages of Lynette Eason’s latest thriller .. this is an extraordinary tale of survival and tragedy in the skies.
If you enjoy heart-stopping suspense, jaw-dropping surprises and a great escape from reality, this fourth installment in the Lake City Heroes will satisfy your cravings. I got lost in a captivating story where ordinary people faced extraordinary circumstances and navigated the treacherous aftermath of the final approach. I was in awe of the characters courage, their reliance on their faith, the adversity they faced, and their unstoppable human spirit.
I loved Eason’s spotlight on revenge! We all carry burdens and we all have the potential to let them make us bitter - Kristine blazes the way in showing us how to replace the bitterness and become better.
“All she could do was work on forgiving him so she didn’t become bitter and filled with a hate that was never far away. But that was a choice. And she was choosing to be free of him and his hold on her life.”
We all have a limited time on this Earth. Eason’s book gives us encouragement to make the most of it…starting with the choices we make daily.
I was gifted this copy and was under no obligation to provide a review.

The bittersweet end to another Lynette Eason series is here! As a reading suggestion, I think this series would be best to read close to together as the friend group is quite large and some of the later couples first meetings happen in the first books.
I did like some elements of this book, but some elements also fell a bit flat to me. I think it was mainly because at the beginning, both Kristine & Andrew harped on their baggage a bit too much and how they couldn’t ask someone else to deal with it for my tastes. Besides that, it was more of a slow-burn romance and I liked the two of them together.
While I don’t think I actually have too many thoughts on this book, I think it would be fair to say that I did overall enjoy it. It’s not a new favorite by this author or in this series, but I really liked seeing the friend group again and seeing all the different ties of the mysteries in this book come together. It was also a nice change of pace of some classic suspense tropes being turned on its head and not the normal layout—I have to be vague for spoilers, but it made the book feel different. Like normal, however, I guessed the culprit halfway through. This fourth book had some similarities to the prior book in the series because of both Kristine & Jesslyn’s family background, though, which made me think I was reading Jesslyn’s story in a different font. Which brings me to wondering, again, how much trauma is too much trauma for main characters to go through? Both Kristine & Andrew have gone through a lot personally and also through their careers. It’s not graphic, but would be a book I would only suggest to older teens who have read and enjoyed other suspense books.
*BFCG may (Read the review to see) recommend this book by this author. It does not mean I recommend all the books by this author. *I received this book for free from the Publisher (Revell) for this honest review.
Final Approach by Lynette Eason is a breathless, high-stakes close to the Lake City Heroes series. It opens midair in a storm of chaos … a hijacked flight, an air marshal off duty, and an FBI agent whose instincts refuse to rest. Kristine Duncan and Andrew Ross pull you into a web of danger, deception, and courage. This isn’t just action for action’s sake — it’s a reminder of the constant presence of God in every crisis. I loved how their faith came through in automatic, unshakable prayer, no matter how tense the moment.
Two lines stayed with me long after turning the last page: “God could do miracles” and “I figure that might be God trying to get my attention.” Eason weaves those truths into a story where trust in Him changes how the characters fight, decide, and love.
Perfect for readers who enjoy romantic suspense with authentic faith threads, layered investigations, and characters who grow under pressure. A strong conclusion that leaves you grateful for every step of the journey.
I received a digital version of this book from JustRead Publicity Tours, LLC, the publisher, and NetGalley. I am not required to write a positive review nor paid to do so. This is my honest and unbiased review. My thoughts and opinions expressed in this book review are my own. My review focuses on writing and story’s content, ensuring transparency and reliability.
Final Approach is suspenseful, action-packed addition to the series with recurring characters from other books. This is Kristine and Andrew's story. They are not dating but are interested in each other. The story starts off with a bang with all the friends on their way to Key West when their plane is hijacked. Kristine, an Air Marshall, takes control along with her friends, most in law enforcement. Andrew, an FBI agent and his partner take the hijacker in custody on the ground. As the group unravels the who, why, and so forth, old events are brought to the surface, including Kristine's mom's death. This story has suspense, danger, mystery, and many surprises along with faith and romance. A great addition to the series. I received a copy for the purpose of an honest review and these are my thoughts.
This book starts off with a BIG suspense aspect! LOTS of action, feels like a movie or tv show. We see Air Marshal Kristine on a flight to Florida with her law enforcement friends & FBI Special Agent Andrew. A hijacker all of a sudden tries to take control of the plane in a whirlwind of suspense. People get hurt but they make it out alive....unfortunately, this investigation is more than just trying to understand why this man randomly hijacks the place. Andrew and Kristine work together to figure out how this all ties in with some past circumstances and as usual, a slow burn romance ensues.
I have enjoyed my time in this series by Lynette. I think they are best read all around the same time since all the characters are friend groups and make cameos in other books. My brain likes to forget names so easily haha.
I really liked the suspense and friend group. The ending was wild, I did NOT guess it, as always! It was a sad situation what our character went through, so much trauma. Enjoyed the faith elements and if you like Christian Romantic Suspense, this series will be up your alley.
My favorite of this series has to still be book 1, Double Take. While I ultimately don't have a ton to say, I would recommend.
Content: parental death, mentions but not extremely detailed of violence like cut throats, blood, suicide, terrorism, deaths, obviously plane hijacking, and standard gunfire/shooters etc. grief, guilt, parental abuse, drugs, toxic parent.
Thank you to Revell for providing a complimentary copy to honestly read and review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Final Approach is a thrilling, satisfying conclusion to the wonderful Lake City Heroes series! The intriguing plot--with fast-paced action, gripping suspense, and compelling characters--pulled me in immediately and kept me engrossed and guessing all the way to the unexpected, startling ending. I totally enjoyed Kristine and Andrew's story and catching up with friends from the earlier books in the series. An investigation of an attempted hijacking turns out to be significantly more in this richly crafted, emotion-packed, multi-layered narrative with much to explore, unravel, and uncover. The much appreciated, encouraging faith thread, naturally woven into the story, and sweet romantic tension enhance the drama and emotion. I highly recommend this book and the series! Note: This book can easily be read as a standalone. I received a copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley with no obligation to write a positive review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
The first few pages of Final Approach may lull you into a false sense of security – this team of heroes we love so well, all on a plane on their way to a much-deserved vacation, the hint of romantic tension between Kristine and Andrew promising some sweet and swoony moments. But don’t unbuckle your seat belt just yet because a hijacker is about to take over. Or tries to, anyway. Unfortunately for him, the plane happens to be carrying an air marshal, two FBI agents, a fire marshal, an ER doctor, and a SWAT team. Which is exactly who *I* would want on my plane if it were being hijacked, but definitely not who the hijacker was hoping for. Or was he? Was it just a random act of attempted terrorism, or something targeted to one (or more) of our beloved Lake City heroes? (And I really do love this team of characters, which is no surprise because Lynette Eason excels at creating teams I hate saying goodbye to.)
These questions and more set off an intense investigation where, instead of answers, they just keep getting more questions – and I was here for it. Working it out in my head as they did the same, holding my breath as they dodged bullets and ramming cars and all manner of other threats to their lives in the process. And on top of all that (as if that wasn’t enough to keep me glued to the pages), Eason takes Andrew and Kristine through some tumultuous issues within their own families too. Needless to say, the tension is high in Final Approach, and you feel every bit of it as you stay riveted to the story. I wasn’t ever exactly sure what was going to happen next, even though I had theories, and I loved every minute of it. I’m also hoping this isn’t the last we see of Hank, Andrew’s former undercover partner. I found his story fascinating and the way Eason leaves things with him has me keeping an eye out (and fingers crossed) for our paths to cross again.
Bottom Line: This Lake City Heroes series by Lynette Eason has been outstanding, and while I hate to see it end (because I love these characters), Final Approach is the perfect send-off. High stakes, intense danger, raw emotions, layered investigations, strong friendships, meaningful faith, and – of course – a sweet romance all combine to keep you turning the pages well into the night. Kristine and Andrew are easy to root for, and their smart instincts (with a couple of exceptions lol) make the suspense side of things engaging and difficult to put down. Their friendship-to-more romance progressed at just the right pace, provided some gentle (and swoony) respites from the tension, and left me grinning more than once. You could read Final Approach without having read the rest of the series, but why would you? The other books are equally fabulous, and I highly recommend them too!

Such a great friend group in this romantic suspense series.
In Final Approach, I loved both main characters: Andrew and Kristine and their law enforcement careers. It’s an engaging story that had me turning pages. I wasn't a fan of the villain, but enjoyed all other aspects of this conclusion to the series.
The cabin erupted into chaos as the assailant, caught off guard, plunged the homemade weapon into his hostage’s shoulder….
This quote from Final Approach is a perfect example of how Lynette Eason always begins her story with a scene that could come from a movie.
The intense interrogation of the would be hijacker, Marcus barely scratched the surface of the mystery Andrew and Kristine needed to unravel. The mastermind had used Marcus as a pawn, and this father’s actions, out of desperation, had a very strong impact on his family. I felt so bad for all of his children and the pain his actions caused his wife. As usual, Eason molds different types of family dynamics in a way that leaves me glued to the pages. Everyone had their reasons to wreck havoc on those around them, and that made this story even more interesting to read. A must read.
I was given a complimentary copy of this book from Netgalley and the publisher. All words are my own.
Filled with characters to root for, action and surprises. Kristine is an air marshal and is on a flight headed on vacation with her group of friends (which includes quite a few law enforcement officers) and the plane is hijacked. Can Kristine and the FBI agents gain control and save everyone on the plane? As the investigation continues they uncover more and more layers they are faced with danger. What is really going on and who is the intended target? In the midst of dealing with the work stuff characters are also dealing heavy personal stuff, family emergencies and such. So much going on. There were multiple twists and surprises along the way, some I had suspicions about and figured out, others took me completely by surprise. I was hooked and needed to know what was going to happen. I did feel that one character made a horrible choice near the end that put them and others in danger and that they really should have known better, but thankfully it worked out in the end. For side characters I have to say I loved Andrew's dad. My only negative is the friend/co-worker group is relatively large and it took me a while to place who was who and what their job was, if I had read the books closer to one another rather then as they release this probably wouldn't have been such an issue. (I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.)
After a foiled hijacking with a hijacker who didn’t seem like he actually wanted to do it, Kristine and Andrew, along with their friends from the first three books in this series, dig into the case. Little is as it appears and a shocking tie-in to a long ago past case makes little sense.
This was a solid book that I liked and fans of this author and series will enjoy it.
This is Christian fiction so expect prayer and discussions of faith.
Family friendly.
Thanks to NetGalley and Revell. I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
Another fantastic book by Lynette Eason! I enjoyed this one and definitely did not predict any of those plot twists. This one will have you on the edge of your seat and keep you guessing all the way until the end!

Wow, this one was action packed and suspenseful with a lof of unexpected twists and turns.
With a bad guy where you only see narcissistic character as the story is revealed, as a reader you feel empathy for the characters and disbelief right along with them as the main characters had to survive attacks and truth revelations.
I enjoyed that all the characters of the series played roles in the story and that the two main characters have a past friendship due to the big group of friends but that there is a clear chemistry connection they would like to explore but events kept them from delaying this connection.
Sad to see the series end.

If you have not had the chance to start or finish this series, DO IT NOW. We came back to the final installment of the Lake City Heroes and all friend group with their significant others. This is Kristine & Andrew’s story which I do believe you will love. The book starts off with a bang and continues to just keep blowing your mind. I loved this explosive start to the end of the series, although I’m super sad the series is over (maybe we’ll see some characters from Lake City in other books, Lynette? Fingers crossed
This book starts off making you think that Air Marshal Kristine Duncan and her friends are going to get a little reprieve from the stress of their jobs, but unfortunately they encounter a hijacking and that thrusts them into quite the investigation and trying to figure out what's happening, who is behind it all and how they can protect those involved.
Talk about fast-paced action and non-stop go! I love trying to figure out the final mystery from the clues that start to appear. And I didn't guess the whodunnit until it was too late! Wowsers! I totally should have seen it though! But one thing I've learned from Lynette Eason is that she is great at using the unexpected in her stories! They keep me coming back for more and more or her books and stories! Love them!!!
And as always, she has a great love story that builds throughout the book. I love that I can count on this author to write clean romance and clean suspense, but still keep me hooked and coming back for more!!!
Content: Clean. Some mild peril, kisses only.
I received a copy from the publisher, Revell, via NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions in the review are my own.
Final Approach is by far the most intense, most twisted thriller of the bunch! I did not see that ending coming and I think my jaw dropped when it all came together.
Kristine is an air marshal and Andrew is an FBI Special Agent. They’re on a flight with their friends, all characters from the previous books, when the plane is high jacked.
Chaos ensues and a chain of events begins that will have readers holding their breath, gripping the book tightly, and reading as quickly as possible to get to the epic finale.
Very memorable characters, high octane scenarios, and a rich thread of faith fill the pages of this series. And the romance ain’t too shabby either!
I received an advance copy of the book from the publisher. I’m under no obligation and my review has not been solicited. Highly recommended!
The gang of law enforcement friends have earned a vacation and are on a flight to warmer climes. A hijacking cuts their trip short and they investigate who is behind it all. Air Marshal Kistine and FBI agent Andrew are put through their paces figuring out who is really the target of attempts on their lives. And is there a connection to any previous hijackings in the area? Non-stop action from the first chapter and a confounding mystery stumps the team at every turn. With the complicated family dynamics of Kristine and the past trauma that haunts Andrew, they still rely on God to watch their backs and heal them. Kristine and Andrew grow close enough to see a future with each other. Come along on a bumpy ride with flawed but competent characters whose faith is evident and whose friends are trustworthy. A compelling, suspenseful book. *A complimentary copy of this book was provided by Revell through Interviews and Reviews via NetGalley. I was not required to post a favorable review. All opinions are mine alone.*
Final Approach by Lynette Eason brings the Lake City Heroes series to a close and it is one epic ride! You probably could read this as a standalone, but reading the entire series gives you more perspective on all the characters. Air Marshal Kristine Duncan is on a plane with her friends for some much needed R&R. Except the plane is hijacked mid-air. She jumps into action with her friend FBI Special Agent Andrew Ross and they get the plane on the ground. But the investigation has them reeling...and evidence points them in ten different directions.
I love intricate plot twists, surprise turns, and lots of danger. This story had me hooked from start to finish. Kristine and Andrew have one of those friendships where they both obviously want more...but between a complicated case and even more complicated personal lives, they can't quite get the timing right.
The entire series is fantastic, and I love seeing some of the characters from the other books make appearances. They all work together as a team and show up for each other. If you love suspense, action, and romance, you'll want to binge read the entire series. Final Approach is a fantastic conclusion to the series and you won't want to miss this one.
I received an ebook review copy of this book through NetGalley. All opinions expressed in this review are my own.
Buckle up. Get ready for an exciting, breathless ride. Final Approach has it all—a plane hijacking, a gang, mounting danger and attacks, a mystery, twists and turns, family dynamics, and red herrings. Both Kristine and Andrew have baggage from their past. The plot was engaging, the story drew me straight in from the beginning, the characters were well-written, and the suspense was riveting and heart-pounding. Eason weaves spiritual threads into this story naturally. I received a complimentary copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
An excellent finale to one of my favorite suspense series. I have loved getting to know this group of law enforcement buddies and each of their stories were such fun reads. “Final Approach” kept me on the absolute edge of my seat. I really enjoyed the elements of the attempted plane hijacking and how the mystery evolved from there. I also liked that the romance elements were there but very understated for most of the story. The focus is really on the case and that was really cool. A fantastic read for an avid Christian Fiction suspense reader like myself.
I received a copy of this book from the publisher and also pre-ordered an audio copy for myself and was not required to post a positive review. All thoughts are my own.
Fabulous!! Perfect pitch suspense and romance! You don't want to miss this one, it's the perfect ending to a great series. It can totally be read as a standalone, but I thoroughly enjoyed and recommend the whole series. I loved Final Approach and enjoyed seeing all the friends from earlier books in this series again, as well as the twists, turns, and a sweet got-your back romance.
Air Marshal Kristine Duncan and her friends are on their way to vacation in Key West when a hijacker attempts to gain control of the plane. FBI Special Agent Andrew Ross is on the trip too and he and Kristine hope to get to know each other better. They land safely but their investigation continues to get more perplexing. I loved this compelling, many-layered, non-stop action story! The author "brings her popular Lake City Heroes series to a shocking and satisfying close."
Thank you to the author, publisher, publisher, and Net Galley for allowing me to read an early copy. All opinions are my own.
I always enjoy a new book by Lynette Eason and this one certainly did not disappoint! Air Marshall Kristine is supposed to be on vacation with her friends from Lake City when the plane is abruptly hijacked. She uses her professional skills to try to defuse the situation, is somewhat successful, but ends up not going on vacation as her FBI friends on board have to investigate the hijacking. Nothing is as it seems in this thrilling why-do-it from this master of the genre. We know who did it, but the motive is elusive and the clues just pile up. Kristine and her friend FBI Agent Andrew seem to be chasing shadows as a clue appears and then points in another direction. The story is compelling as they try to solve the mystery and as Andrew and Kristine both find themselves endangered, but they don’t know from whom. Following the clues was highly entertaining, especially with all of the red herrings that led me on a merry chase down several dead ends. With danger getting closer and the friends unable to find a motive, Kristine uses her powerful deductive reasoning abilities as well as events from her past to take us on a roller coaster ride to the truth, a truth that was surprising but not totally unexpected. I really enjoyed the fast-paced plot with non-stop action and the appearances of all of the Lake City heroes from previous books in the series. This book can definitely be read and enjoyed as a standalone, but I would highly recommend reading the entire series so that the backstory for each character can help you understand the intricate connections between each of them. Disclaimer: I received a complimentary copy of this book from Revell via Netgalley. I was not required to write a positive review, and all opinions expressed are my own.
What a perfect finale to a great series! The multiple layers in this story were delightful. I did have my suspicions of the bad guy from the beginning, but there were so many things I hadn’t figured out.
Once again, I loved the spiritual threads. It was actually refreshing. I think it’s because the characters had an active Christian walk. God wasn’t an afterthought, but part of their daily lives and prayers.
I also liked the romance. I feel like for me, it was a good balance to the suspense and, once again, just a part of their normal lives.
I think I’ll be picking up more Lynette Eason books soon and will remind myself that she’s not an author I want to skip out on for years (even though that happened accidentally this time).
Final Approach kept me on the edge of my seat and fully engrossed with many twists and complex situations. I loved Kristina and Andrew, each with their own issues to deal with, as they searched for answers in the on-going situations and also tried to sort out their feelings for each other. I was definitely kept guessing and hated to put the book down! I’ve liked all of the characters in this series and enjoyed getting reacquainted with them in this book.
Final Approach is a fitting end – the whole Lake City Heroes has been excellent and this is no different.
This story starts with a hijacking and keeps going with the high stakes action until the very end. Air Marshall Kristine Duncan isn’t even on duty but must act to calm the situation. She’s helped by FBI Special Agent Andrew Ross. Once the plane is down safely, the danger doesn’t stop and the two must work together to uncover the bad actor threatening this Kristine loves.
As ever, the action is tightly written and the plot full of unpredictable twists. I liked that we saw the familiar faces from previous stories. However, this story also stands alone and will make sense if you haven’t read them. As this is romantic suspense, a relationship grows between Andrew and Kristine, but will they overcome everything they’re facing in order to be together? You’ll have to read the book to find out! But if you do love romantic suspense, this whole series is highly recommended.
I received a copy of Lake City Heroes from the author via NetGalley. The obvious enjoyment is all my own.
Final Approach is a fast action, edge of your seat, page turner! When Air Marshal Kristine Duncan and FBI Special Agent Andrew Ross are on a plane when it gets hijacked. They both jump into action to save the passengers, and get the plane landed safely. But the danger is far from over. Once they start investigating, the mystery keeps going deeper and deeper. Nothing can prepare them for what lays ahead. Together, can they keep themselves alive long enough to find out who was behind these attacks?
I have read almost all of Lynette Eason's books, and this one is by far one of my favourites! With non stop action, and packed with twists, it keeps you guessing the entire time! And the ending! Ah it was incredible, what a twist!!
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book which I received from the author. All views expressed are only my honest opinion.

After the investigation into the incident gets underway, Kristine and Andrew are confused at every step. There is nothing about the investigation that goes as it should, each layer peeled back leaves them more perplexed!

Book #95 of 2025: I have enjoyed every book of The Lake City Heroes. One of Lynette Eason’s best series! Great narrator for the audiobooks in Lauren Pederson.
Before I began this last book in the series, I went back to the couples in each of the previous three books and each of their job titles. I made a little list to refresh it all for me.
There were so many layers and surprises to this story. I got a little confused tracking it all at times. I backed up a few times so I could get it straight.
Kristine’s and Andrew’s story is full of twists and turns. The romance aspect is low but it is sweet and natural. All the main characters from the previous books are in the book and it’s like finding old friends. There is a lot of drama and tension, not to mention surprises.
Fans of romantic suspense and intrigue will enjoy this entire series!
