Take note of the title of this book. It is in fact just the story of the bakery and not a cookbook. Only five recipes are included, none of which is for a cookie.

This book made me HAPPY!! Levain is always one of my top recommendations for anyone visiting NYC, and the original 74th street location is always a stop for me whenever I’m in NYC. What a story of love, grit, and determination. I am impressed that Connie and Pam have built something so remarkable, but have kept their friendship and values at the core of everything. I was inspired by multiple stories throughout this book from customers and employees; the main theme being work hard and be kind. If I wasn’t obsessed with Levain before, I definitely am now! What a fun, happy read!
