Lucy the Ant Ballerina is a book written for children ages 5-9. It was created when a father was asked to make up a story, by his four year old daughter, about an ant but with one prerequisite, the ant had to be a ballerina. The story is about an Ant, Lucy, who is different from all the other ants because she dares to dream. She meets a little girl who reads about Ballet. Lucy accompanies the girl on her journey of the discovery of the beauty of dance. She uses Ballet to bring pleasure and happiness to the Queen of the ants. Her dreams become a reality. This story encourages children to use their imaginations, to dream and enjoy the music in their heads.
As a dad who spent hundreds of hours reading to my daughter I salute the genius of this wonderful children's story about dreams, achievement and success. A great book and beautifully illustrated by Shireen. I look forward to reading it the next generation....
My friend & former Iraq contracting comrade-in-arms John Dovey and wife wife Shirene — in turn inspired by their darling daughter Leah — have put together an absolutely delightful children’s book. It’s about a courageous little ant who dares to not only dream but actually pursue those dreams…which is more than can be said for all too many people in this world.
