This was a gift from a well-meaning acquaintance who thought it would be comforting for me after I placed my daughter for adoption. I know many people who love this book/song dearly and find it to be a nice reflection of their adoption experience. I am not one of those people. Even if you ignore the "So many wrong decisions" part, which was judgmental and unnecessary, this is an overly simplistic, saccharine, and trite imagining of what a birth mother might think and feel. The adoption agency I placed through used to give this to expectant mothers considering placement; I asked them to stop.

I just discoverd this book with songs yesterday, though I heard one of the songs several years ago. IT is sooo touching. It made me take a look at my three beautiful boys and be intensly grateful for the chance I have to be a mother.

I don't think enough can be said for the bravery of the girls who choose to give their children a better chance through adoption - what an amazing sacrifice. I don't think those of us who haven't experienced it, can imagine what pain must be associated with looking into the eyes of a perfect newborn child and know you have to let them go. But what a blessing they are to those who can't have children of their own.

Just a beautiful look into adoption and what each party involved experiences.

I have loved Michael McLean's songs about adoption since From God's Arms to My Arms to Yours came out in 1990. This book comes with a CD that has the three songs I knew and three others I didn't. The book contains the song lyrics, the story of how he became involved in the circle of adoption, and brief comments before each set of lyrics. Great gift book for anyone who has been touched by adoption. (I bought it for my mom for mother's day and got myself a copy as well :-)

This is one of my all time favorites. I knew about the original song (From Gods arms...) and the greatest gift, but I didn't knew that he had written other songs about adoption. I borrowed this from the library, but I am buying ti for sure.
