Morag goes to live in a beautiful little cottage in the city. The cottage, with its lovely vintage garden, is situated in the heart of Glasgow. Morag leases it during the spring and summer, but the lease has one stipulation -- Morag must make the cottage available to the sewing bee every Wednesday afternoon.
Morag designs sewing patterns and fabrics and is happy to do this. She's been living in a flat in Glasgow and plans to enjoy the cottage garden and relax while she works on her new designs and mends her broken heart. But nothing goes according to plan when she meets handsome menswear designer Marck whose aunt Zinnia owns the cottage. Then the gorgeous vintage gardener Ruary climbs over her garden wall and into her life.
Morag's summer is set to be a scorcher of sewing, baking, romance and mischief set in Glasgow and Cornwall.

Light hearted love story surrounding the sewing bee.
Leaving cheating boyfriend and old life behind, Moraq moved into a beautiful little cottage in the city with a lovely garden, situated in the heart of Glasgow with a stipulation that Moraq must make the cottage available to the sewing bee every Wednesday afternoon. There she discovers new friends waiting to be made.
The Sewing Bee and Afternoon Tea is a nice, fun, easy to read quick romance read that you don’t have to think about. It is most definitely a cosy read with characters who are warm, likeable and funny and ideal for those days that you just want to curl up on the sofa and relax with a bit of light reading. Morag is recovering from a broken romance and has just moved into a cottage in the centre of Glasgow. A stipulation of her lease is that she has to continue holding the weekly sewing bee there. As Morag is a fabric designer and keen needlewoman herself, this is not a problem and we are soon interested to a host of characters. There are two romantic possibilities – gorgeous, smooth, menswear designer Marck or hot, sexy, gardener Ruary. Oh to be in that dilemma!
I was never quite sure throughout the book who she would end up with, and to be honest it didn’t really matter, as either would have made a nice, happy ending.
It is a quick story that can be read in a day, and that for me was the problem. The story really flowed well, right up until the last chapter. That last chapter just felt oh so rushed with too much information just dumped into it. I just didn't FEEL the romance. Another chapter or two instead would have made wonderful reading.
When Morag finds out her boyfriend is cheating on her she leaves him immediately. Fortunately she's able to rent a wonderful cottage in the middle of the city. There's only one condition, she has to continue the sewing bee that takes place every Wednesday afternoon. Because Morag loves to sew and even makes patterns for a living she's delighted to do this and she can't wait to join the fun. The owner's nephew, Marck, is a good looking designer and he can't stay away from the cottage and the sewing. Then there's also Ruary, the cute gardener, who visits regularly. Because of the cottage Morag's life has changed. It's now rich, filled with wonderful people and exciting adventures. The two men bring some problems too though. She likes them both, but who will she choose?
This book is marvellous. I loved the cozy atmosphere. The sewing and baking talk made me want to start a project of my own straight away. The cover of this novella is so pretty and what's even better is that there are patterns in this book. I loved this story, it's so cute and sweet. The Sewing Bee & Afternoon Tea is a perfect feel good read. Morag is such a kind person. She's easy to like and her bright and sunny nature makes this story even more enjoyable. I can only praise this lovely novella. If you love sewing and cake this is a must read!
I really do like the style of writing that De-ann Black has in her various "tea" books is just divine. They pull you in and make you feel as if you're sitting their with the characters and going through all their emotions with them.
The Sewing Bee & Afternoon Tea didn't dissapoint at all, Morag's broken heart sees her searching for a place to call her own, what she soon discovers is that it comes with a ready made sewing bee and a whole host of new friends waiting to be made.
As long as you accept this for what it is, sit back with a cuppa and possibly cake and enjoy this gentle romance. A lot of literary licence (I can't imagine that roses, sweet peas and love in a mist would be flowering in Glasgow in April!). The theme is obviously around sewing, which is why I chose it. The great bonus is the reference to De-Ann's website where you can find lots of free patterns. Delightful breath of fresh air between some more substantial books.
