Title:He Saved Me Series:He Found Me #2 Author:Whitney Barbetti Release date: December 18, 2014 Rating:3.5-4 stars Cliffhanger:No HEA:
3.5-4 stars
He Found Me was one of my favorite New Adult reads this year and it ended in a cliffhanger (thought it was very manageable). So of course, I was eagerly on board to read the conclusion to the He Found Me series. I've read several of Whitney Barbetti's books now and I can honestly say that I have a great connection with her writing. With some authors you can slip into their books and get attached to their characters without any effort and for me, she is one of those. I was so happy to read the conclusion to Andra and Julian's journey. They struggle through secrets, danger, separation, and trust. Andra's was dealt a horrible blow with the death of her mother and the following abuse from her stepfather and it takes Julian's unswerving support to bring her out of the darkness.
In this book, their relationship is tested when once and for all. Andra must decide to stop running and face her past.
When Julian tracks Andra down with Mira, their reunion was bittersweet. Andra is worried about putting Julian at risk as well as putting her heart at risk.
He was here, with me. I hadn't had a moment to myself since he'd arrived and while happiness soared within me, fear did too. Fear for Julian. Fear for this depth of feeling.
Julian and Andra did get to fit in a little sexy time together, but with Six and Mira underfoot, it wasn't much. I loved seeing them reconnect though, they had that same chemistry that I loved in the previous book. It went deeper than just an erotic, emotionless, coming together. They have a depth of feeling between them that makes every scene between them more meaningful and sweet. And Whitney always does a great job expressing and conveying that and making me feel it.
So for me, this book pretty much confirmed all the feelings I had for these characters. Julian was as sweet and sexy as ever, Andra was a survivor and while she acted foolish in doing what she did with no one's knowledge, I couldn't help but admire her courage. Six was still his mysterious self, and Mira....well she was the most intriguing of all. Clearly, we know that she's been severely wounded, probably mentally and physically and she's become as prickly as a grizzly bear. She's unapproachable, rude, blunt, and hard. But at times you see a softness peeking out of her that her damaged side tries to cover up.
Six and Mira are getting their own book next and I am so excited to peek inside these two character's heads. Mira is one of those characters you have a love-hate relationship with. But the way she and Six have this unspoken bond and connection that's lasted over 10 years shows how vulnerable she is to this one man and I can't wait to see where they started, but most especially where they're headed.
Whitney not only wrapped up some questions left unanswered from the previous book, but she gave us a couple of twists and some added suspense to round out the story. My only reasoning for not rating higher was the fact that this one was shorter and while I did enjoy it, I did guess what the twist was early on and it didn't leave me thrown off balance or shocked. For anyone who read book one and is also planning on reading Six Feet Under, this is a must read. You get a lot of information and get set up for the upcoming book. And if you've read Ten Below Zero, if you pay attention closely, the characters are indirectly mentioned here-so keep your eyes peeled. This was a great conclusion and I'm looking forward to getting to know Six and Mira in more detail.
Love Whitney's stories so much, can't wait for this ;)
SYNOPSIS:
Julian
I’ve come to understand that I’ll always find her. She’s my north star, my sense of direction. In her, I’ve found my home. She tells me I saved her. But the truth is, she saved me.
But nothing good can ever last. Andra’s keeping secrets. She’s holding something back. I’m trying, desperately, to anchor her. To let me in, to let me help.
But will all my efforts end up with a ghost of a girl I love?
Andra
I’m used to disappearing. Vanishing into thin air, without a trace of who I’ve been or where I’ve gone.
But it’s so much harder to do with a broken heart and no hope for a happy ending. Sometimes the only people who can put all the pieces of us back together are the ones we least expect to. That’s what Julian did for me.
Julian found me. But now, all Six wants is to keep me locked up, away from the world, away from the Monster. I can’t live like that. It’s not living at all. Because I still have unfinished business.
And I’m going to make sure the Monster gets what’s coming to him.
You need to read HE FOUND ME before you read HE SAVED ME. This is a series that must be read in order. I loved HE FOUND ME and was anxious to read the sequel. Whitney Barbetti did not disappoint.
Andra has had a very difficult life with running and then trying to keep all her secrets close. Since Andra’s mother passed away and she was left with an abuser which put her in a place of darkness and constant danger. In HE SAVED ME, Julian and Andra reunite, but Andra is terrified that she putting Julian in danger. She knows she has one choice and that is to face the evil. Some of her actions could have been seen as stupid or courageous. What would you do to protect the one you love?
How romantic and sexy if Julian???I liked the characters and Andra’s story in HE FOUND ME, but fell in love with them in HE SAVED ME. Andra is the perfect heroine. Kind, but strong at the same time. There is heat between these characters, but more than physical, it is emotional. There is a twist, suspense and romance in this gem. We get a glimpse at the secondary characters, Mira and Six. Mira is a strong, but she is angry. Clearly having had suffered through some type of abuse, she is still very protective. You have to admire her and Six. Mira and Six will have their own story in Whitney’s next book SIX FEET UNDER.
MUAHAHAHAHAHA. I got to read this before everyone else and I FREAKING LOVED IT. Whitney Barbetti is a genius. I loved how she brought all the characters together to create a cohesive and heartbreaking story. I love love love all the characters, but Mira - that woman just speaks to me. I love her. And Julian is so stupidly swoon-worthy it's annoying. I mean, can someone please send me my very own Julian?!?
Anyway - this is one book you do NOT want to miss. If you loved He Found Me and Ten Below Zero, you will totally love this one too!
He Saved Me picks up right where He Found Me left off. I had so many questions after the way things ended with He Found Me and couldn't wait to get those answers. And boy, Whitney Barbetti does not disappoint. This book took me on a whirlwind of emotions. I laughed, cried, swooned and got completely lost in the story. That's one of the things I love about Whitney Barbetti's writing. Her stories consume me, captivate me,and hold me hostage until I finish them.
We finally get to meet Mira and Six. And wow! I loved both of them from the moment I met them! Six had this great air of mystery to him. Who is he really? What does he do? And Mira...She was wild, tough and I just loved her attitude! I can't wait to get to know both of them more in Six Feet Under.
He Saved Me is the conclusion to Andra and Julian's story. I loved the mystery and suspense that surrounded the story. I loved trying to figure out what was going on and other aspects of ths story. There's nothing better than finding out you're right about something :)
I loved everything about this book, this series. The characters are complex and the writing is amazing! I'm so glad that I discovered this author!
Andra has left the ranch & is hiding out with "Six". Again, on the run & fearful for her safety, she is stuck inside a beach house, allowed outside only to sit on the porch. "Six" is ex-militaty, paranoid with good reason, smart, tech-savvy & strict with Andra regarding her desire to get out & explore. Someone is looking for her, he has proof & as stubborn & determined as Andra feels about leaving the house for a while, he must keep her safe. No one can see her, recognize her or find her. I found book two moved at a much faster pace, more drama, more character development & definitely more romance. Julian, yes he is still in the picture is exactly what Andra needs in this crazy whirlwind of a life she is leading. Strong yet yielding, loving & supportive, Julian is the best book boyfriend out there. Her sanity would have left her long ago if it weren't for him. In spite of all this madness they are a dream couple. A secondary character plays an important role in this series & some sadness accompanies this very unusual person. I was surprised how much I grew to like this person as her initial presence in the story irked me. This has been a long & suspense filled journey for Andra & the people she holds dear & I'm thrilled to say there is a very HEA.
After flying through the first installment of this series, I was beyond happy when this book released early. That cliffhanger at the end of He Found Me, really had me going. I have to say kudos to Whitney Barbetti for not taking the easy way out and letting Andra and Julian have their happy ending from the start. He Saved Me was beautifully and eloquently written. The prologue, just wow! I loved getting some Julian POV and it had my heart racing.
Luckily, after the opening, time is rewound a bit to give us the events that lead up to that point. There is a lot happening in this book. There is a new character introduced, Mira, who plays a rather significant role. Julian is working on his book, Six is working to figure out Hawthorne with the help of Mira, Andra is restless and getting trained by Mira and a few other things as well. When she sneaks away from the house with Julian one day, things really start to pick up. Andra forms a plan to end the mess once and for all. BUT she doesn't tell anyone what she is planning- it was so frustrating but I understood, they all would've tried to stop her. She did it from a place of love and was willing to sacrifice herself to protect those around her. There were some truths revealed along the way that had my heart aching for her, and her mom. Some of the journal entries and flashbacks were gut wrenching.
Andra finally comes face to face with her past, ready to put those demons to rest. While I'm glad the showdown with Hawthorne happened and mostly on Andra's terms, I wanted more. I wanted a true confession from him about all of his actions and I wanted him to suffer a bit more than he did. I felt the ending was a bit rushed. We're taken back to where the book started and Julian's POV. Again, I wanted more in those final scenes. Some type of reaction from Six about the big reveal, a glimmer of what the future holds now that Hawthorne has been taken care of, what now for Mira and Six? Something tells me those questions won't be unanswered for long.
Well, where this was a bit better in the action part, the romance part suffered. That's not to say it didn't have its brief moments of sweetness.
It also slogged on so slowly in places. There were a lot of unnecessary daily life stuff that made no sense to mention. I imagine that the author felt the need to convey the characters' desperate boredom to the reader, but I'm not so sure it was intended to bore the reader desperately.
Also, leaving your reader with questions is seriously not cool. They're probably only questions I would ask and wonder, but still...
I'm also not real thrilled about the big reveal in the book. It was no surprise, and why the characters were so blown away really annoyed me. It honestly was so obvious and they were so dumb not to figure it out earlier. I don't care for dumb characters.
Again I'll say it wasn't that bad. I am very happy with how the major storyline ended.
Good plot and I have to say this conclusion was more about the plot, I didnt feel pulled in or emotion that I like to experience when reading.
This book tells of how Andra is in hiding, how she discovers unanswered questions about her mother's death, Julian finds her and there in hiding together, they find clues about her mothers inheritance and it goes onto how she gets to the goal of final freedom from her Uncle who she calls the monster.
Loved the first book because I love romance, I love taking a journey with a couple how they find each other how they face obstacles together and the insecurities and passion and everything that makes a good romance.
This second part unfortunately didn't fulfil that for me.
I am very surprised to see how good is this book. Sincerely I wasn´t expecting like everything It was developed. To at point I was worried because I wasn´t seeing any considerable advance and many stuff caught me with the low guard (like could say Mira). This book It was super good and I am happy that Andra is again the main character and not Julian. I love you Julian and I want a boyfriend like you. Six was a very interesting surprise.
Really enjoyed this duet! Had a some questions still unanswered but overall enjoyed the story. I love Whitney's writing, Ten Below Zero was one of my favorites this year so I had no doubt I'd love these as well. :)
I have loved everything about this series. It kept me glued the whole time and I seriously could not get enough. I read the Mad Love Duet first, so I was aware of some events, however reading from Andra's point of view made a big difference. Seeing Six and Mira through her eyes was great. Especially her opinion of Mira, the interaction between them was really funny at times. The part where my heart was ripped out my chest in the Mad Love Duet, was just as hard reading it in this book, because we get to see just how deeply Six is affected by it. All in all, the two series are fantastic and if you have read this series, I highly recommend you read Mira and Six's story to.
Well I'm going to bask in the glory that I got to beta this. *twirls in excitement* Are you jealous? You should be! LOL. :D
Whitney is truly gifted and wrote up ANOTHER story that made me fall in love with the characters, feel their pain, their strength and their love. This was the perfect conclusion to Andra and Julian's story!! <3 If you've read, He Found Me, then you know how it ended-Julian found her. He Saved Me picks up from there (you get a look into how he found her!!) and you also get to have more of Mira and Six! Hell yes!!!
Andra is hiding out somewhere so 'the Monster' doesn't find her. They're also trying to catch him because honestly, Andra doesn't need that a**hole lurking around in the world. He's better off dead. With the help of friends, Andra trains, becomes stronger and finally gets a chance to be free. It's what she always wanted.
This book isn't only about a romance. It deals with so much more and I wish I could say it but it's a major spoiler so you're left having to pick it up this emotional, riveting story and read it yourself. Do it. Don't even hesitate.
Once you're done reading this, add Six Feet Under to your TBR because it's going to be good. I have a feeling it's going to break my heart the way Ten Below Zero did.
If my review wasn't clear enough (it should be, I named all of Whitney's books because they are favorites of mine ;) ) I highly recommend this book if you loved He Found Me!
I just finished reading and all I can think is WOW, Whitney did it again. I hoped going into this book that I was going to love it like her others and sure enough I do. I love everything Whitney writes. Her writing is so captivating that you can't help but be drawn in and feel with the characters. From the very first page Whitney had my heart in a vice and my stomach tied up in knots and I freaking loved it.
This book had some sweet moments that made me fall more in love with the characters. There were sad moments, where my heart just broke for the characters and I couldn't help but shed some tears. There was also thrilling moments that had me sitting at the edge of my seat. All in all this was an great conclusion to Julian and Andra's story. I am sad for it to end but excited to read more of Mira and Six's story. I hope to read little tid bits of Andra and Julian's story in Six Feet Under. Great Job Whitney you did it again.
Favorite Quote "You're a part of me, you're in my head and in my heart and in my bloodstream." Julian #TeamJuliandra
You think that a story that was so perfect couldn't get any better but He Saved Me blew me out of the water. The characters we all loved from He Found Me are back! Every thing is more intense in this book, you experience Andra's turmoil and restlessness first hand and it makes you race to get to the end point just to find out what happens. The relationships between Six and Andra and Julian and Andra get the best in depth treatment, and we find out the answers to a few long held questions. This is the 3rd novel from Whitney Barbetti and it's the 3rd 5 star read! I'd give it more stars if I could.
Although I loved the first book in this series and was anxiously awaiting the next installment, I didn't find it to be as edgy, nor filled with the excitement. The characters continue their quest to put the bad guy where he belongs but the zest and life of the first book just fell flat here.
The relationship between the two main characters continues to grow and their interaction is blessed with some quality dialogue. And yes, they get closure. I love seeing the secondary cast grow stronger and look forward to reading their continuing story in the next book.
I needed the conclusion to this story but it did feel like there was some waiting around to get to the crux of the plot. The last 10% was full on brilliant. Julian was surprising less of a central character to Andra and Six. Good prologue that kept you in suspense right till near the end.
I loved this book. But the thing I loved most was that Six was Andra's father☺️. This book has put me through so many emotions. It was a good conclusion to the story and I'm glad that I read it. Whitney is a brilliant author and deserves all the praise that comes her way.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
If I'm honest I was a little disappointed with this, it seemed rushed and the secondary characters of Six and Mira were far more engaging than Andra & Julian. I just expected more after book one and found the ending anti-climatic.
Good ending..skimmed a lot of it. I had to know what happened and I'm glad I read this one. There are still questions I have. Like what happened to Mira? What does Six have to say about the news Andra dropped on him?
My rating range of this story... 2 - 3.5 Stars If significant, why? Way to much angst in comparison to the first book. It almost felt like a different author.
Main Character Ratings... H = 7/10 h = 4/10

Heat Rating... 4/10 Clean or Fade to Black - 1 or 2 Normal to Descriptive 3-5 Detailed Descriptive Sex - 6-7 Um, Wow, Beyond Descriptive Sex - 8 or above
Was there so much sex or unrealistic sex that you rolled your eyes and/or skipped forward? No
The back story... Continuation from book 1 - New location
The Romance... Took a step back when the h started keeping things from the H.
The drama explosion... The h goes full TSTL Did it feel Real, OK or contrived? Just why? Was it OTT? Very Separation involved? Yes Was it resolved properly or rushed? Ok
Final Notes... During the first 25% of the story, 20% is heavy angst and continuous internal dialog. If this is what you live, then this will be any easy 5 Star read. When the h went off the rails and cut the H out on her ridiculously dangerous and TSTL plan, I almost quit reading the story. The end is extremely abrupt and you have no idea what is going on with the h or 6.
6's story was interesting and you fully understand why he is the way he is towards the end. Unfortunately the reader is kept hanging.
HEA or HFN? Unknown? Maybe a 3rd book or a stand-alone focused on 6 to complete the story?
FAVORITE QUOTES: JULIAN: “It’s complicated.” ANDRA/CORA: "What’s complicated? Talk to me. Force the words from your lips. Or write it down, if that’s easier. Just let me in.” JULIAN: “I can’t force things, Andra. I can’t force words when they mean something. I’ve told you before that the words I write mean little, mean nothing to me. This, us? I can’t force anything here. I’m not shutting you out, I just am sorting it around for myself. Obviously, when you left, I was upset. Hurt. That text you sent me was hard to read. I had some time to think about it. You did caution me from returning to the ranch. I figured out that Hawthorne had come for a visit. I knew you were protecting me. Protecting my family. But I didn’t like that there was a choice. Between being with you, and protecting my family. Andra, I want you. I want you and my family and I want you to be a part of my family. One step at a time. I just found you. I won’t lose you. You and me, we are going to come to a resolution with this.” ANDRA/CORA: “And Six too." JULIAN: “Right. I think he needs to warm up to me. Showing up unannounced was probably not my best idea.” ANDRA/CORA: “It was one of the best moments of my life, if that means anything. That means everything. Best date, best kiss, best moment of your life? I’m racking up some serious points here.”
JULIAN: "How are you?" ANDRA/CORA: "I feel...I feel lost. You found me." JULIAN: "You're not lost. You're my North Star. As long as you want me, I'll always find you." ANDRA/CORA: "I love you." JULIAN: "I love you, too."
I agree with so many people that a narrator makes or breaks a story. I love Audible for that reason. I loved the reader who read Andra's character, or Cora who she used to be known as in her past. I just loved her voice & the Julian narrator wasn't so bad either. This book caught my full attention from the beginning. Andra was strong, maybe not at first in her body, but in spirit she was feisty, sassy, intelligent & she was brave to take on such an evil uncle even though he was bigger in size & strength. I loved how Julian was so good to Andra, so loyal, dedicated, protective & also respectful to allow her to be the person that she felt she needed to be: to give her the space even though they both had guilt of some hidden thoughts & secrets, at the end their love kept her alive. I loved the descriptions of Six & I'm glad that the truth of him being Andra's biological father came into the light. I think he began to love her, not as a protector or a legal gardian, but also as a friend & finally as a daughter. I love books that grab you. It was a pity that Merra lost her baby & didn't want anything to do with Six or Andra, but I do understand that grief & depression cause you to do things that you wouldn't usually do in other situations. Excellent Excellent storyline, plot & well done to the author for such a outstanding contribution to so many wonderful other books & authors that make such a difference in our lives. Reading is so calming & when you find such great books, I find that I don't know how to be bored or sad when I've got such great books to keep me company.
