Bad B*tch in the Kitch: Craveable Asian Recipes to Ditch the Takeout: A Cookbook

Rate this book
NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • Add some razzle dazzle to your home cooking with 80 recipes for your favorite Asian takeout dishes from culinary influencer Cassie Yeung

Cassie Yeung likes to think of herself as a chef for the people—no professional culinary training here, just a girl who really loves to cook (and eat, obvi). She believes that the #1 rule in the kitchen is to have fun, let loose, and cook the way you want to. For Cassie, that means yelling “behind!” in her own kitchen, softening butter against her skin, and showing off her baddie nails as she pleats dumplings like a boss.

In Bad Bitch in the Kitch, Cassie serves up the food she loves the Asian dishes she grew up eating and now craves on the regular. So many people know and love Chinese, Thai, Vietnamese, and Singaporean cuisine, but they don’t always know how easy it can be to recreate their favorite dishes at home. Cassie shares some of her go-to dishes, dialed in for home cooks, in chapters such

First Bite Crab Rangoons, Siu Mai (Steamed Pork and Prawn Dumplings), Spam Musubi
Scallion Oil Noodles, Pad See Ew, Spicy Miso Instant Ramen
Skip the Sweet & Sour Pork, 30 Minute Beef + Broccoli, Chicken Katsu Curry
Not Too Lazy Girl Mango Sticky Rice, Brown Butter Matcha Cheesecake, Vietnamese Coffee Tiramisu
Whole Lotta Hand Pulled Noodles, Ginger Scallion Sauce, Peanut Dipping Sauce

Not only can you save money by skipping takeout, but everything tastes better homemade, too. With Bad Bitch in the Kitch, you can confidently whip up classic noodles, stir fries, and soups whenever the craving strikes.

Yes, I am logging a cook book, leave me alone.

I’ve been wanting this one for a long time and treated myself. I’m so excited to try this stuff!! I know from watching her videos for a while (and some dabbling) that Asian cooking is actually pretty simple, it’s just a matter of getting the right ingredients, and definitely more of a ratio style than exact measurements. Excited to expand the dinner/lunch menu at casa de Burgess!

I usually read cookbooks to grab some technique insight and bookmark a few recipes. I had to give up the bookmarking by the second section, because I wanted to make nearly everything. Gonna have to jump into this one ASAP.

Have I ever really read a recipe book? No. Did I also read this entire book for the past few hours and felt like a proud mother? Yes I absolutely did. 😌

I’ve been following Cassie for ages and it’s so nice to finally see her achieve her dreams 🤩

Wow now let’s talk about the design of this book?!!! As a graphic designer, this book is a walking wet dream!!😮‍💨🤌 the attention to detail in every aspect of this book is astounding! I absolutely love the photography and the how well the type works with them and the layout itself is so nice and easy to read 🤩 also I love that the recipes are so accessible with a qr code to her videos of how she does it.

I cannot wait to cook these dishes with already some planned for tomorrow from her sides and salads section 🤭 and I’m so excited to finally have the recipe for the wet-wet sauce!!

I need her to keep doing these cookbooks and keep the entire design and photography team 😙

This book honestly made my entire day and yess I read every single recipe cause each one has a cute note from Cassie on it’s origin story 🥹

The pictures are gorgeous - albeit questionable given the sheer length of her nails - how are you getting the filling in those tiny dumplings without it being all underneath or ruining the delicate dumpling? But I digress. The recipes themselves are pretty involved. This is not the kind of book that you would pick up to just satisfy a craving for asian flavors without several hours to spend towards reaching that goal. This is more an experience type of book -you set aside time to make this stuff and then reap the benefits for weeks to come (literally - one of the recipes makes like 100 dumplings).

So, a nice book to have, but I don't think I would use it much.

This a TikTok influencer cookbook. It is filled with basic Asian recipes. Nothing new or inventive. Photos (some do not showcase the food in the best light) of every recipe. Some recipes have lengthy ingredient lists, but don’t let that intimidate or deter you. That said, you might be spending a lot of money on Asian ingredients. If you are a fan of Cassie’s or need a basic Asian cookbook, this might be for you.

Love this book

I bought this book after watching several of the authors videos! Her recipes are good and her directions are clear. I have always wanted to learn to cook Asian cuisine but wasn't sure I had the skills. Because her instructions are clear, I have been able to make dishes my husband likes. I highly recommend the book if you want to expand your cooking abilities. AND the recipes are so good!

Full of recipes that are personal takes on many Asian dishes. Demystifying some, like chicken wings ( where I agree nothing like Chinese take out wings)

The author gives her inspiration, or reasoning for her creation. One I may be so inclined to try would be the Krab Rangoon Sandwhich.

I don't know why people are annoyed that other review a cookbook. How is this different to any other book I want to spend my money on? I want to know if it is good before I spend money!

This book is brilliant and gorgeous and worth every penny.

I love Cassie and her cooking.
